The best restaurants serving British food in St Albans East of England

The oval cafe tucked away in a lovely corner its very beautiful but only 1/3 of the magic there a bunch of incredible places like the church which me and my school trip visited I would definitely recommend any other school to visit

I called to try and book Afternoon Tea for 4 adults and 3 babies, given the name of the cake shop. I was really disappointed to be told that we couldn't bring in more than 1 or 2 prams due to health and safety. There would have been 2 prams and a buggy... It's unfortunately not practical to carry a baby all the way from where the car is parked and then have them sit on your lap the whole time. Might be best if you give the name of your cafe a re-think! Mum's do like to have a life too and we don't get much 'Yummy Mummy-ing' done sat indoors at home!

Our waitress Beata was so lovely. From the start to the end she was extremely attentive and friendly. She really made our experience special. The food was also delicious. We will definitely be returning soon!

A lovely family Sunday lunch/dinner. Reasonable prices and smaller plates available that are still ample for an adult. Can recommend the chicken and lamb roast and the sausage and mash. Will return

Had my 65th birthday lunch here . There were 9 of us and I was delighted to find that we were seated in a private dining room upstairs . It was absolutely perfect . The food was very good , well cooked and good value . Everyone had a wonderful time and the staff were very friendly and effective . The restaurant is definitely a step up from say a gastro pub /bistro . But without being in the fussy fine dining end of eating out . I you have a small lunch/dinner party then having one of the private rooms makes for a delightful experience that I can heartily recommend

We had are dinner in this pub yesterday and it was so bad the chicken burgers were bad no Lettuce and the beef burger were bad and so small to no Lettuce and the onion rings were burnt and the chips were burnt to my family think it was all cooked in the fryer and we payed £135.00 we should off gone to KFC we would of had a better meal

food took ages to come and I saw he stopped 2 times before me doing other deliverys, food was cold and awful

Stopped by for lunch today, beautiful decor, food was delicious, service was great. Our waitress Jackie went above and beyond to make sure we were happy (we really were) We will definitely be telling others about this gem!

Had three different servers. The original server completely forgot to order side dishes. When chased, no one apologised (took ownership) and as we finished the main meal, still without side dishes, we cancelled them. Staff were non-plussed. Pity as food was nice but won't be returning in a hurry

Very nice place, good atmosphere and FANTASTIC food, would recommend A++ It was so tasty, I forgot to take a picture, it was delicious though

Really lovely food and service. Was quite busy and noisy on the ground floor, so we were offered a table upstairs which was much better.

I had an amazing welcome and experience at the hotel on 30 November 2024. It was a special fine dining Christmas Dinner with music night. The staff were very welcoming with excellent customer care . The venue is situated in a calm relaxing environment with great views. Thank you for this unique opportunity and highly recommended.

Love the pub but no vegetarian mains! Had to go elsewhere for dinner.
