Came here after a hard day for some drinks absolutely lovely environment with lovely staff. I spoke to Mackenzie who told me about the hidden shots. I loved the apple bomb deffo coming back

Service was incredible, Mackenzie was wonderful throughout our visit and very attentive, will definitely come back.

I just want to compliment on how amazing the smothered chicken burger was and that the service me and my family got from Mackenzie was really good, the food was perfect I loved everything about the burger and Mackenzie did a really good job on checking in on us and asking if there was anything we needed.

This place is great. I had lunch here, great food will definitely be coming back soon and sure to let my friends and family to come here if there close by

Favourite place to go in harpenden, thanks to the great service and good food. Especially Mckenzie who is just amazing and knows the drinks menu off the top if her head.

The pub is always clean, and the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. Another excellent point is that the quality of the drinks is always excellent - so they evidently take great care over the operation, which as I have run a bar/restaurant myself in the past, I really do appreciate. The clientele are always friendly, I often come in to finish work projects once I've finished in the office, but also sometimes at weekends or evenings if there is a significant sporting event being shown. All in all, this place is highly recommended.

Disappointing. Having read the recent reviews intended to have lunch here today. Staff were not behind bar or inviting. When asked to order they could not tell us if they had certain items as Chef had gone shopping- odd given this was lunch time, they were not busy So unfortunately never got to taste the food. Appreciate things can happen but very lack lustre and disinterested staff.

I visited the Wheasheaf on Mother's day. I had read the reviews and satisfied that this was a good place to visit unfortunately, I was very disappointed by service on the day and highly regret taking my family here. We arrived at 12.30pm, there were very few staff working and it took a while to be seated and given the correct menus (there were to for this occassion). We were informed as we sat down that we had to leave by 2.30pm to allow another reservation. We were not informed that we had to go to the bar to place our orders so waited for a while to be served before realising this. At 1.50pm out food had not arrived so we had to chase this up given we had to leave by 2.30pm. The food arrived at 2pm, the burgers were cold, chicken wings overcooked (burnt), steak cold and rare rather than medium rear. It was absolutely terrible! To add to that, not everyone received their food, we had to remind them that the kids meals were missing. My mother ended up not eating and although they offered us complimentary drinks, this was not the experience we were expecting to have on mother's day. Finally , after that awful experience, they still overcharged us for the chicken wings!!! I would NOT recommend this place and will definately not be returning.

Popped in for a couple of drinks while the rugby was on. Staff friendly and service was quick. A few pale ales on offer which was great.

Amazing bar, alwsys a great atmosphere. Food is cheap but they don't give poor quality its always really lovely. We pop in for lunch or a coffee couple of times a week.

1st visited to this sports pub. Loves it with relaxing atmosphere eating lunch. Will come again.

Came here for lunch when over in England visiting family. Great service, friendly staff and much better than the typical pub food I was expecting. Glad to see screens up for sports so looking forward to checking back in for lunch and rugby some day soon!

Friday night was not very busy, had a DJ playing some 80s Dance, prices were standard. But the Men's Toilets were disgusting. Hence the score, need to Keep on top off the Amenities in a Pub..

Ale is excellent, ambience comfortable, sport facilities second to none. As for bar staff, employee named Grace has really good customer service skills,service with a smile and attentive. She deserves recognition as she's a good ambassador for the wheatsheaf. Duty manager needs to be more customer friendly.

Very helpful and friendly staff. They Told us about an app which can save us money and collect points. We had a full English and it was lovely.

the cosy ambiance in addition with nice served spirits and beers makes this pub the best place to enjoy your evenings . It's become our go-to spot . Staff always welcoming and smiling ,the Spanish girl behind the bar is such a vibe .Definitely recommend

I've been holding a local business networking event at The Wheatsheaf for the past few months and they have been brilliant! They were keen to accommodate us even though our event is a bit outside their normal bookings, and they've always gone over and above to look after us and make sure our event runs smoothly. Thanks to the whole team for making us feel so welcome :)

Mixed emotions about this place to be honest, on the one hand, me and a couple of gym bros broke the world record for number of baby Guinness in a night here (120), the beef nachos are sound as is the sharing combo, although I don't share. The one caveat however would be the miserable barman with long hair who is like a rain cloud hanging over the place.

I always try and come here to watch sports, whether it’s the football boxing or UFC they always have a great atmosphere. With great priced beers and even better wings and burgers. My go to for watching any event with all my mates

Very disappointed with the food. Service was ok a part from when the chef laughed when we complained about the stale bread. Perhaps because it was the least to complain about.

i had an awesome lunch here the other day. i got the smothered chicken burger which i will definitely be coming back for. drinks are really well done too, everything is really well prepared. i was talking to a beautiful young lady, mackenzie, she really went above my expectations. thank you for a brilliant experience.

The food was first class but very disappointed that we had to wait over 30 minutes for one dessert of ice cream. This was a Monday lunchtime and was not at all busy.

As per a previous customer, televisions everywhere but nobody watching them. Nice place and varied menu. Also any bar with doombar is a hit for me. Food and drink possibly a bit pricey but to be expected for Harpenden. Bit nearer to London than Luton. Staff exceptional.

Went in for a cocktail on Saturday- guy behind the bar was so miserable and for over £11 for a cocktail was awful !! Would not recommend for cocktails

We had a lovely afternoon with food and drinks. The service was great with friendly staff which is always a bonus! It had a real good atmosphere. We are looking forward to returning with the up coming events especially the DJ nights!

I went in to have a coffee after shopping in the town. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There were quite a few people in there and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend people give it a go. It’s classed as a sports bar but unlike some establishments of the same genre it was a really pleasant visit.

One of many pubs in Harpenden....all your usual suspects served in draught & bottles

This used to be my favourite sports bar in Harpenden but I fear it’s on a downward slide since Bryan (manager) has left. Bryan ran a great bar with prompt service and a great pint and had all the staff trained to understand this philosophy. Last night I braved the wet weather to go and meet a few friends and watch the football - I shouldn’t have bothered. There was no more than one bar staff serving at any given time, resulting in our party waiting 10 minutes for every drink. We would have had at least one more round if the service had been good. If this poor service continues, I believe it will lose many customers

Only bar left open on a Tuesday night. They'd started to clear up so the bar stank of bleach but the staff still served us. Why do places say they close at 11pm and then start to close at 10.20pm?! Well done to the member of staff who served us, it was his first shift!

Cool bar for sport - although newer/larger tvs in the booth's would be better and the sound turned up to make the atmosphere better. Food is decent enough for a quick bite with a beer or 10 😃. Will keep coming back - and hope it goes from strength to strength 💪🏻 😃.

Stayed down here for the weekend and was looking for somewhere to catch the lunchtime football - absolutely fantastic place and they allowed me to book a booth with a TV in it , in advance ! Very good selection of lagers and ales , shame it’s not my local as would be back there regularly !

Drinks fine. Service at the bar very slow! Football on all evening. They said there would be music once the game finished but that didn't happen.

All right probably for the under 40s. A bit sticky, poor choice of cocktails but nice staff.

Food and drinks are extremely expensive, and the toilets are absolutely filthy. The layout is very bad as there’s no space in the toilets so whilst trying to get out, you can randomly expect someone to open the door in your face :) mobile app to order keeps crashing and the QR codes on the table to order don’t work. What is good though - the service is fast

The staff are lovely here, and the drinks are plentiful. But the space is poorly utilised for functions. We had our Christmas party here and the music was so loud yet all the big bulky tables and chairs were left out so there was nowhere to dance and enjoy the music. The tables were mostly used for coats and bags, while people stood around them trying to have conversations. Everyone was straining to hear over the music. It wasn't possible to sit at a table and have a conversation - we had to stand close together to hear each other. Trying to edge past the crowds to get to the toilet, bar, or outside without catching a table or knocking into someone was not enjoyable.

Refused service due to having previously worked here and left very disappointed and went and took my party of 10 across the road to the George which can be a bit pricey but fantastic service!
