The Wheatsheaf in St Albans

We had are dinner in this pub yesterday and it was so bad the chicken burgers were bad no Lettuce and the beef burger were bad and so small to no Lettuce and the onion rings were burnt and the chips were burnt to my family think it was all cooked in the fryer and we payed £135.00 we should off gone to KFC we would of had a better meal

This place was dead on a Friday night when the pub over the road was packed , think that says it all !!!!!

The place has changed since I was last there, it's more of a sports bar now. Ten TV screens some large ones on the walls and other small ones at the wall of the booths. Not really for me as I'm not a sports fan and I don't particularly care for not being able to look in any direction without a TV in my view.

The Wheatsheaf has recently reopened under new management so popped in to visit with some friends for food and drinks. There's a new menu but I had a chicken burger which was very well presented and absolutely delicious. The staff were all very attentive and lovely and the atmosphere was great, will definitely return.

I had a great time having a few drinks with some friends, we ordered the chicken goujons which were delicious. Jessica behind the bar was really helpful with suggesting drinks which she felt we would like. We will be back again!

Fine to watch a match, otherwise would not come.

Really dissappointing to have ordered the Beer, Burger and chips deal on the app for £14.49 only to be told when the food arrived that we were not eligible for a beer because we ordered on the app and not at the bar. The waitress refused to listen to reason. Drinks slightly overpriced but a good atmosphere for sports with many screens.

Need to listen to your customers when you ask you to tuen down the volume of the football. Staff are rude and not respectful. You said you have a kids menu, I don't think it is a children atmosphere. I will not be visting again

Had a party of 12 for breakfast and I can’t fault the service or food, wasn’t too much of a wait once we ordered and the food arrived hot and tasty, I personally had the full English and you certainly get your monies worth. Thanks guys!

Came in for the football and it was an awesome atmosphere. Food was spot on and the service was really quick. Definitely recommend for sport

Went here to watch the Euros. I stood at the bar for a solid 10 minutes waiting for staff to attend the bar! And it wasn’t even busy! The worst part was that the bar staff literally saw me whilst delivering food and still made me wait without saying a word. A simple ‘be right with you’ would have gone a long way. Awful, awful service. Plenty of better pubs in Harpenden.

Friendly bartenders, sports on tv's,great atmosphere.

I came in Saturday evening and ordered an ale and wine. The ale was underpoured and asked for it to be topped up. The wine was average at best. The young man who served myself was rude, no eye contact and when asked to wipe a table down, stomped around like a child. I would happily of cleaned the table but the young man pushed me aside and wiped the table down. We also queried the bill and was told that they where unsure of the prices. I also asked for a receipt and was told we do not do them. On asking again I was given a receipt. A very bad experience after a great day at Wembley

Great pub, food fresh and tasty, friendly service. Burger chips and drink deal is fantastic. TVs at each box and decor ready for Euros

Popped into the sports bar. Chilled music and asked for F1 to be put on the screens; no issue. Was a little hungry, so ordered the all day breakfast. This hit the spot! No fuss.

2nd visit much better experience. Quiet Sunday afternoon. Clean, tidy. Regulars watching football. All fine. Decent pint of black sheep too

The staff here are amazing the manger was very helpful I think his name was Jesse he helped me book my table for the football and the food here is outstanding for the money you pay.

Decent pub to watch the football in, masses of screens and had both champions league and a championship game on. Good service at the bar, £6.90 for a pint, London prices but it is Harpenden so probably about normal these days.

Seen more life down the morgue hated it more telly's then betting shop had all the charm of a punch in the face two bouncers on the door WHAT FOR there was literally four people in there had more fun at a wake needless to say won't b rushing back or recommending

Came here after a hard day for some drinks absolutely lovely environment with lovely staff. I spoke to Mackenzie who told me about the hidden shots. I loved the apple bomb deffo coming back

I just want to compliment on how amazing the smothered chicken burger was and that the service me and my family got from Mackenzie was really good, the food was perfect I loved everything about the burger and Mackenzie did a really good job on checking in on us and asking if there was anything we needed.

Service was incredible, Mackenzie was wonderful throughout our visit and very attentive, will definitely come back.

The pub is always clean, and the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. Another excellent point is that the quality of the drinks is always excellent - so they evidently take great care over the operation, which as I have run a bar/restaurant myself in the past, I really do appreciate. The clientele are always friendly, I often come in to finish work projects once I've finished in the office, but also sometimes at weekends or evenings if there is a significant sporting event being shown. All in all, this place is highly recommended.

I visited the Wheasheaf on Mother's day. I had read the reviews and satisfied that this was a good place to visit unfortunately, I was very disappointed by service on the day and highly regret taking my family here. We arrived at 12.30pm, there were very few staff working and it took a while to be seated and given the correct menus (there were to for this occassion). We were informed as we sat down that we had to leave by 2.30pm to allow another reservation. We were not informed that we had to go to the bar to place our orders so waited for a while to be served before realising this. At 1.50pm out food had not arrived so we had to chase this up given we had to leave by 2.30pm. The food arrived at 2pm, the burgers were cold, chicken wings overcooked (burnt), steak cold and rare rather than medium rear. It was absolutely terrible! To add to that, not everyone received their food, we had to remind them that the kids meals were missing. My mother ended up not eating and although they offered us complimentary drinks, this was not the experience we were expecting to have on mother's day. Finally , after that awful experience, they still overcharged us for the chicken wings!!! I would NOT recommend this place and will definately not be returning.

Amazing pub chain in Harpenden, you can order from your table by a simple app, also every bench has a Tv where you can watch football and more and not being bothered by others. Food is good enough and affordable price.

Amazing bar, alwsys a great atmosphere. Food is cheap but they don't give poor quality its always really lovely. We pop in for lunch or a coffee couple of times a week.

Came here for lunch when over in England visiting family. Great service, friendly staff and much better than the typical pub food I was expecting. Glad to see screens up for sports so looking forward to checking back in for lunch and rugby some day soon!

Friday night was not very busy, had a DJ playing some 80s Dance, prices were standard. But the Men's Toilets were disgusting. Hence the score, need to Keep on top off the Amenities in a Pub..

Ale is excellent, ambience comfortable, sport facilities second to none. As for bar staff, employee named Grace has really good customer service skills,service with a smile and attentive. She deserves recognition as she's a good ambassador for the wheatsheaf. Duty manager needs to be more customer friendly.

I've been holding a local business networking event at The Wheatsheaf for the past few months and they have been brilliant! They were keen to accommodate us even though our event is a bit outside their normal bookings, and they've always gone over and above to look after us and make sure our event runs smoothly. Thanks to the whole team for making us feel so welcome :)

Mixed emotions about this place to be honest, on the one hand, me and a couple of gym bros broke the world record for number of baby Guinness in a night here (120), the beef nachos are sound as is the sharing combo, although I don't share. The one caveat however would be the miserable barman with long hair who is like a rain cloud hanging over the place.

Very disappointed with the food. Service was ok a part from when the chef laughed when we complained about the stale bread. Perhaps because it was the least to complain about.

I always try and come here to watch sports, whether it’s the football boxing or UFC they always have a great atmosphere. With great priced beers and even better wings and burgers. My go to for watching any event with all my mates

i had an awesome lunch here the other day. i got the smothered chicken burger which i will definitely be coming back for. drinks are really well done too, everything is really well prepared. i was talking to a beautiful young lady, mackenzie, she really went above my expectations. thank you for a brilliant experience.

The food was first class but very disappointed that we had to wait over 30 minutes for one dessert of ice cream. This was a Monday lunchtime and was not at all busy.

As per a previous customer, televisions everywhere but nobody watching them. Nice place and varied menu. Also any bar with doombar is a hit for me. Food and drink possibly a bit pricey but to be expected for Harpenden. Bit nearer to London than Luton. Staff exceptional.

We had a lovely afternoon with food and drinks. The service was great with friendly staff which is always a bonus! It had a real good atmosphere. We are looking forward to returning with the up coming events especially the DJ nights!

I went in to have a coffee after shopping in the town. The staff were really friendly and helpful. There were quite a few people in there and it was a nice relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend people give it a go. It’s classed as a sports bar but unlike some establishments of the same genre it was a really pleasant visit.

One of many pubs in Harpenden....all your usual suspects served in draught & bottles

This used to be my favourite sports bar in Harpenden but I fear it’s on a downward slide since Bryan (manager) has left. Bryan ran a great bar with prompt service and a great pint and had all the staff trained to understand this philosophy. Last night I braved the wet weather to go and meet a few friends and watch the football - I shouldn’t have bothered. There was no more than one bar staff serving at any given time, resulting in our party waiting 10 minutes for every drink. We would have had at least one more round if the service had been good. If this poor service continues, I believe it will lose many customers
