I have been to number of high end places recently in an effort to try out the best locals in St Albans - and I must say this is the best so far - Beata the waitress was lovely and attentive and and sensitive to my needs regarding my supplementary Oxygen - me and my friend had a lovely three hours with mains and desserts and high quality cocktails which were on a good offer. I will definitely go back.

We visited Miller and Carter tonight and can only comment on what a lovely time we had. We are a family of 11 and was served by Sophie who was exceptional and very attentive all evening. We would highly recommend this restaurant for a great family meal Thank you Sophie you made a good night even better

Celebrating my birthday with close family. Started with the homemade smoked mackerel pate which was excellent. Followed this up with the steak burger & washed down with a pint of Amstel. Great service & a great price as we used the fixed price menu. Recommended.

Impressive exterior and interior. Everything very clean. The waitress was good, despite being the only one on. Disappointed that the normal lunch menu I have when I go to the Stanmore restaurant wasn't on, replaced by a more expensive "January menu" which was more than I really expected to spend. So £20 for 2 courses including the £2 supplement. Mind you this is a fair bit cheaper than ordering similar food from the a la carte. Very limited range of starters, soup, mushrooms or nachos.. On recommendation we paid the extra for the bistro rump, but it wasn't as tender as claimed. I really had to saw quite hard with the steak knife. I don't really see the point of a quarter of an iceberg lettuce in a separate bowl. The "famous onion loaf" was inedible, like a rectangular onion bhaji that had been deep fried for too long. If the good value normal lunch menu had been on I'd probably have rated it good.

Visited for my mums birthday, food was excellent and the staff made us feel very welcome. Our waiter Joe went out of his way to ensure we had a special evening, he even arranged a birthday dessert for my mum!!

A real chance to return to ‘Steak House’ catering, with a spaced seating area due to the pandemic. Our waitress was welcoming, attentive, and very efficient, as were the rest of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Reasonably priced menu, but wine is not cheap ! A very enjoyable experience. The way to thank the chef and his staff would be - Ring-the -bell - loud and clear.

A really excellent midweek lunch menu and wine-by-the-glass selection. My only problem was deciding which starter and main course to choose - I could have happily chosen them all! Very friendly and efficient service and great food too.

Lovely place to get freshly made sandwiches. The bacon and sausage sandwiches are a favourite with the family. Along with the selection of smoothies and milkshakes.

Every month, with a group of friends, we have supper here. There's an excellent menu, always cooked perfectly, served without undue delay, by a lovely team. Mine host Ross usually greets all guests as old friends, making our visits most enjoyable. The bar has an excellent range of beers and wines with non alcoholic drinks for those driving. I used their excellent facilities to entertain 40 friends at my recent birthday party.

Positives: we chose the 7 course tasting menu. The food was excellent, very well presented and full of great and exciting flavours. Brilliantly done by the cook. To be improved: we chose the wine pairing menu. The wines were nice although none stood out in any particular way. The reds were served way too warm (well above 20 degrees) and when mentioned to the head waiter he completely ignored and dismissed the feedback and no action was taken. Service was nice and friendly but not as attentive as you would expect at a restaurant that plays at this level. They served the courses quickly explaining what was being served, but for the rest we were completely left to look after ourselves. The food is a 5 score but the rest only deserves a 3 score hence an overall score of 4 although borderline to 3.

The beef casserole was superb that was enjoyed in the large and open sunny garden off a very quiet country lane. Food was accompanied by good beer served by an amusing and chatty pub owner. Thoroughly recommended!
