Bellaccino's in St Albans

We dined on Tuesday evening a group of 3 ladies out for a catch up , the atmosphere from the outside to the beautiful interior transported my to Italy, service was friendly and attentive, food was wonderful especially the burrata such high quality and the saltimbocca , we were recommended the Nutella cheesecake it was divine. It was our first time eating here and it definitely won't be our last , it was busy on a Tuesday evening which tells its own story , thank you for a wonderful evening

The food has always been excellent, definitely could’ve used a lot more spice on the penne arribiata though. The service was lovely as always; a big well done to all the staff for making us feel welcome and never rushing us with our food. Overall a very lovely experience and would definitely recommend for any date night or event😊

Wonderful accoglienza at Bellaccino's. We managed in time for the lunch offer, and we've been really surprised by the generous portions of the dishes. This is what "Italian" stands for. The lovely staff made us feel so welcomed and Dina was the most helpful into accommodating wine our choice. Highly recommend to anyone who's looking for a delicious rich meal portion, and impeccable services. All the ovation to the chef who coocked the risotto. Perfect al dente porcini mushrooms risotto 👌 We'll be back for sure!

Came across this place on a stroll in St Albans. Went in past 9pm on a Monday and yet the service was amazing and didn’t rush us at all. Austin our server was amazing and was understanding of our food n drink changes for health reasons. He was a lovely friendly person with a massive smile. The food was superb and shall be full for a couple days. Defo would recommend to all friends and family

So our table was booked in advance and we couldn't wait for that great time we had the first time there, so this is why we chose this restaurant! Most of the food was good but it was rushed the minute you finished the starters, you blinked and bang your main was served, at least let us put our cutlery down! We didn't get asked if we wanted more drinks, it seemed they just wanted people in and out. We had dessert and asked for the bill, it wasn't much of a birthday meal, lack of atmosphere just staff waiting to clear the tables for the next group of people! As for the service charge, well far too much to add to the bill when the service was bad, we left so disappointed thinking we were going to have that first amazing experience!

We have been here many times and will revisit many more times in the future....the food is fantastic, the atmosphere is brilliant and the staff are really friendly.

Really lovely food and service. Was quite busy and noisy on the ground floor, so we were offered a table upstairs which was much better.

The 2 courses for £35 Christmas menu feels like a bit of a rip-off. We had the baked mozzarella which had 3 tiny pieces of bread (not enough at all for the sauce and cheese) and the calzone from the set menu and compared to similar dishes on the al a carte menu, these two together were between £8-£10 more expensive. The calzone was good but I had the lasagne and it was way overcooked. It didn't taste like it was freshly made (the pub near my house does a better lasagne). Nevertheless, I ate it. We then ordered the sticky toffee pudding which was horrendous. It was soooooo incredibly bitter!! It left a horrible taste in our mouths, we actually had to send it back. The toffee sauce was also bitter. All in all, the atmosphere was nice and our server was lovely, but I won't be rushing back sadly :(

very original Italian restaurant in St Alban's. food quality is high and authentic to the home country. Salads are fresh and generous. Pasta is tasty with excellent sauces. the house wine tasted fine always a good sign. Staff appear caring and helpful and always attentive.

What appalling food! Prawns frozen and mushy. Green beans overcooked, liver mediocre. Pizza quite disgusting. Cake obviously frozen and all for an extortionate price. Do not come here!

I’m a big fan of this restaurant anyway, great food, service, atmosphere, the lot. On this occasion I can’t express my gratitude enough to the team who served us yesterday. It was a rare family trip out with my elderly Mother, who has dementia, and can therefore be a challenge in social situations. I had briefed the restaurant when I made the booking and they delivered everything requested and much much more, they totally engaged with the idiosyncrasies of our needs and made it a lovely lovely experience both for Mum and us. Thank you so much Bellacinos for creating a wonderful memory for us. Beyond exceptional.

Just popped in for a light supper and had a delicious Spaghetti bolognaise and homemade lemonade both perfect. Service and ambience were spot on. Will certainly be returning soon.

Service, food and atmosphere all spot on. Can’t recommend enough

Having been here twice before, we made an on line reservation. In arrival we were greeted very unfriendly and the guy obviously didn't have a take for us. A nice one wasn't for us apparently. He went and asked the boss and then tried to take us to a dark upstairs where we would be on our own! I guess there was a mix up, or they gave our table to a walk in. We decided to leave and eat somewhere where we would be among the atmosphere! Beware. Despite their mistake, they were rude too.

I’ve come to Bellaccino’s around 4-5 times over the last year and a half and it’s been great every time. The portions for food are generous and simply delicious. The team are great and very welcoming. And the atmosphere / decor of the restaurants is beautiful. A perfect spot to come for some food, their lunch menu is also terrific! It’s my go to recommendation for a lunch date.

We made a reservation but when we arrived it was obvious they didn't have a table for us. They were keeping a window table for a preferred customer I guess. We have been twice before and enjoyed food and fun atmosphere. This time after much debate we were taken upstairs to a dark solitary area! We left. There's plenty of restaurants in the area who take reservations seriously. Not this one.

Kindly took a booking for 20 at short notice and delivered great food and service. Highly recommended and will be back.

An absolute shocking experience! Booked for my husband’s 50th birthday on a Tuesday night. Booked for 7.30pm realised we had got caught up with friends so were running late and rang the restaurant to explain we’d be 20-25 minutes late. I was told it wasn’t a problem and our table would be reserved for us until we arrived. When we arrived at the restaurant at 7.40 the waiter in front of us moved a couple from a different seat to our table. I said excuse me but I think that’s our table as they walk passed, he said bare with me, sat the couple then returned to me and said we couldn’t wait for you any longer so we’ve given your table away. The restaurant was far from full and I said I rang to explain and was told it wouldn’t be a problem. He replied we have a 15 minute graze so you no longer have a table. At this point my husband walked out embarrassed. I spoke to the manager who made excuses for his staff but ultimately told me he didn’t know how to put it right! Anyway, we went to the other Italian next door but one as a walk in and had a fantastic night and meal. How a so called family run business can turn away £300 on a Tuesday night when the restaurant is quiet is beyond me! Terrible customer service and we won’t be returning Good job St Albans has so many other restaurants to choose from.

It is very nicely decorated restaurant. It used to be more of a bar but not anymore. We were served politely and quite swiftly. A good place to spend a time with a buch of friends or on a romantic 1:1.

Hard to describe how GOOD this place is , The flavours, the view , the staff and the ambience are just top notch If you want to fly to Italy without moving from St Albans this is the place !!!

Great quality pizza although adding ham cost £2.5, which is far more than most other restaurants.. the service was friendly but slow on the 2 occasions I've visited it (both lunch)

Lovely meal with my husband. Small blip having some unexpected grit and little pieces of walnut shell in my goats cheese and walnut salad. Not a big issue as it tasted fab. I mentioned it ,and we were given a complimentary shot of limoncello. Great customer service. Friendly atmosphere. We had a very nice evening,with good food and wine.Thank you.

It’s a good place to eat when you have a few options opened; as after 15.00 almost everything is closed on weekdays, or without lunch menu. The food was tasty, value for money is correct. However, the waiter looked a little bit tired, we repeated a few times every plate and the drinks. It really looked that they need more rest. Overall, £31 per person with service charge. Pricey, being objective. I ordered pasta with spinach and funghi, and I have almost nothing of spinach. Either way, I wish the best for the workers there.

Very underwhelmed by this place. The food wasn’t very Italian. The pricing was high for the quality and £3.50 for a small bottle of water. We had the chicken salad, a pasta dish and a pizza florentina. The pizza was not very authentic. We would not recommend or be going again.

Great Italian in the middle of St Albans, The decor of the place was beautiful with great music and a great atmosphere, the food was okay, we ordered the carbonara, which was quite plain tasting, the pancetta was a great flavour, the service could have been a little friendlier but we can’t complain as we were not waiting too long

I visited this restaurant that claims to be "Italian," my disappointment was in discovered that it is run by Albanian and Romanian owners and staff. I don't understand why they need to use the name of our cuisine. The food offered is a poor imitation of ours, with horrible flavors and recipes far from the originals. I am tired of seeing our food disrespected like this! For us Italians, food is not just food. In every dish, there is our tradition, our family, the pain of poverty, suffering, adaptation, and struggle. But what do they know about what it means to us? Why not name the restaurant after their own country? Perhaps they are ashamed, or they know that no one would come to eat there? We Italians are proud of our cuisine. You should also be proud of your country and change the restaurant's name! My rating: 0 out of 10.

Absolutely stunning restaurant. As soon as you walk in you feel how great the vibe is, the food is the best in Hertfordshire without a doubt and the staff are so attentive and wonderful. Thank you, we will be coming again and again!

We visited as a family for dinner early Saturday evening. Drinks and wine were nice. Wine was 3.5x mark-up which I think is pretty rich but it was nice all the same. Portion sizes were plenty but overall the food was seriosuly lacking in taste at times. Pizza was average, meat ball starter was pretty good but calamari over cooked. Kids mac and cheese tasted of flour with no cheese so they wouldn't eat it. The mushroom and truffle risotto was abysmal - boiled rice (without stock and therefore without taste) with a few sliced mushrooms chucked in and truffle flavouring added - geneuinely appauling. Linguini was quite nice. Overall a real mix. My wife had eaten at Bellaccino's a few times with friends and had a good experience but this was overall a very disappointing meal. Made worse by the attitude of the staff to our complaint - basically implying we were visitors to St Albans trying to scam them of money. Enough to make sure we NEVER return - we would strongly recomment you visit Per Tutti instead.

Stopped at Bellaccinos today 22nd June for a coffee. Sat at one of the vacant tables. Asked the waiter for a coffee and a cup of tea but was told we had to order food as it was lunchtime. REALLY. Was actually speechless at the cheek of it. Definitely never using again.

Brilliant food, helpful people who got us a table. Drinks took a while!! Otherwise amazing!!
