The George in St Albans

Myself and two friends came for brunch, but arrived just after 12 we were worried we'd missed it, but luckily brunch is now up to 1pm! Perfect for late risers like myself.

Was looking for a spot to have some breakfast, thought I would try here. Was greeted by two lovely staff members, had a delicious breakfast. Special mention to Connie who was awesome and really friendly.

Nice friendly staff, welcomed us in. Quick and efficient service from Connie. A wide varied menu. Me and my friend tried the specials which were great.

Lovely lunch today. Peaceful garden room. Food was great and connie was lovely and friendly.

We came in yesterday evening for dinner. The food was great (chicken Milanese and ham hock pie). Our waitress Molly was attentive and very polite! We will definitely be back.

Could this be the worst place to eat in harpenden . Yes it certainly has take first place . We ordered 5 starter plates and they where quite frankly discusting . Prawns bone dry and old , scallops hard and old , chicken skewers old and dry , crab toast just pure rubbish which tasted like old crab past on cheap bread . Ordered a pizza last ditch and it was very average . This is an insult to food and totally disgusting. On a plus one staff member was reasonably polite .

It was rubbish. Waiting staff were too busy chatting to take our drinks orders, give us menus, check on us and give us cutlery. Absolutely rubbish-so many staff members avoiding customer facing roles I wondered if I should go up to the kitchen and put my own order in.

Just had lunch at the George in Harpenden and I will not be going back. £18.50 for the prawn linguine that was smaller than most starters. When I questioned the waitress she reassured me that there was nothing she could do about it!! The service was horrendous, I had to wave my arm to get any attention from the staff on three separate occasions. When I dared to ask for cutlery it was slammed down in one pile for us to sort out ourselves. The whole experience left me regretting our decision to have lunch out.

Had a really great experience when I visited a few days ago. I was served by Christina who was brilliant and I can't recommend her enough. She was very warm and hospitable and she helped make the visit an enjoyable experience. Would 100% recommend.

Love the George, wouldn’t normally réview, but that Christina is something special (within the food and beverage industry)! Accommodating? Check! Attentive? Check! Ambiant? Of course! So glad there is still excellence within this world!

Came in for a pizza and drink. Had a lovely chat with Christina on the bar, she's chatty and friendly and knew everything about the food and drink menu. I had a chicken and chorizo pizza with a pint of BBNO which she recommended as I'd never tried it before. Both the pizza and beer were delicious and I'll definitely be coming back. Thanks Christina!

I recently went for a hugo spritz at this lovely establishment and while the drink itself was already amazing enough, my server, Christina Kelly, made my experience even more lovely! Would definitely recommend and for sure coming back soon!

I recently had the pleasure of being served by Imogen at the George of Harpenden, and I can't recommend her enough! From the moment we arrived, she was warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive, and she provided excellent recommendations that truly enhanced our dining experience. Imogen's attentive service and friendly demeanor made our visit memorable. If you're in the area, definitely ask for her when you go! Five stars all the way!

Food was great, the service was very good but it could have just been slightly quicker. I regret not having the beef roast and went for chicken. It was still very tasty and great, but I’m a beef person and should have stuck to my guns!

I went here with my family and got served by the wonderful Imogen she was so lovely and looked after me and my family. We had a laugh and a joke and made everyone feel very welcomed as it was our first visit to The George. It’s a great atmosphere and the selections are amazing and suited for everyone. Would definitely recommend!!!

We ordered and paid for two 'mango and avocado' salads at the bar (£15 each) and sat outside. However when we got them they both had no avocado in and I counted a total of 4 cubes of mango in mine. The leaves in the salad tasted ok other than the fact that there was not much to the salads themselves and since the food took ages to arrive and I was hungry I began eating in the hope of being able to alert a member of staff soon. However, no member came and checked on us to see how our food was. Once we had almost finished our salads a waiter came into the outside area. I called him over and alerted him of the issue. He asked me if we were sure I told him we were and he went off inside. He never came back after 15 minutes and the issue remained unresolved until we left. Very disappointing with the service and food as a result.

Went to the George the other day. It’s a really nice local pub and the food is amazing. I got served by Imogen who was really nice and welcoming. I would recommend visiting the George if you are local or just passing by.

A regular spot that I love to visit - great for all occasions! I have had wonderful lunches & dinners in here as well as drinks with friends. Often served by Oscar, who is very lovely and efficient. My dog loves it too, especially the treats on offer - he tries to pull me in every time we pass! Will continue going back and recommend it to anyone.

I have been here a couple of times recently whilst visiting family in Harpenden. The food was amazing and they also cater well for both Vegetarians and Vegans. The service was exceptional especially on our most recent visit, thank you Imogen for being so helpful and polite. We look forward to returning soon on our next visit.
