As ann autistic female myself, this cafe was so friendly and welcoming with lovely staff who are very understanding. I will most likely go here again rather than any other cafe. Staff ensure you have everything you need and that you’re comfortable in the space they provide. Amazing contrast to the busy streets of St Albans!

This cracking cafe serves lovely food, the staff are professional, efficient & friendly, it’s comfortable, cosy, & charming & on top of all that it supports people with learning disabilities; what’s not to like? There’s an intimate seating area at the front & a much larger, but still cozy area in the back. We had a delicious breakfast & are definitely returning. The place was packed, but the service was so good you couldn’t tell by that. Please give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

I came across this cafe by accident as it’s slightly off the main strip and I’m so glad I did!! After a very warm welcome I was provided with a bottle of tap water and a small but interesting menu. I had a lovely conversation with one of the team whilst I made my choice, which was delicious! Although I resisted, the variety of cakes was plentiful and the rest of the staff were all super kind and friendly. I’m not local but visit regularly and this is now on my schedule for a ‘must go to’, even if just for a coffee and a chat I had never heard of The Camphill Village Trust before but I am certainly a fan now!!

I love this place. For various reasons. First of all it's ethos is based on community and helping and supporting adults with learning difficulties by training them and giving them job opportunities. Secondly their food is tasty, nice sized portions and very inexpensive. Thirdly, most of their food is home grown. Fourthly, the decor is very pleasant and arty. They sell home made cards, have toys for kids and welcome well behaved dogs. And last, but probably not least, the service is warm, friendly, fast and generally very lovely. What's not to love about this little place? Please go, you won't be disappointed and its good to support local places, places that, I believe, have integrity and values that are sometimes hard to find in the world. Oh, but don't go on Monday as its closed!

This cafe surprised me on all fronts. Fair prices and a homecooked meal--it astonished my two work colleagues and me! The food was fresh and tasty. And the staff were great and helpful. I had a baked potato with chilli. It was tasty, and so well done. My colleague got a bacon panini and he said his was the best he'd ever had! One note: don't judge this cafe by its appearance. That's not to say it's unpleasant. But it doesn't have a traditional cafe look. Will definitely come again. And tell others. Parking is a challenge. Once you do that, prepare to have a satisfying meal! -Sean

The “Café on the Corner” is run by the Camphill Village Trust, a national charity that supports people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges and other complex needs. In St Albans they help almost 40 people within a supported living environment. It is a nice café with small selection of cards and pictures for sale, along with (for donations) items from their allotment. Coffee was good, cake was OK, price was probably a bit high – but who cares when all profits are being put back into their charity work.
