Visited Black pig on a Sunday morning for brunch and it was very tasty. The presentation of the dishes is fantastic along with the excellent ingredients make each meal very enjoyable. We ordered the veggie brunch and Eggs Royale which I added a portion of streaky bacon as an extra. We also had the hash browns as a side dish which would have been nicer if the portion was for four and not three to save fighting for the odd one . Overall well worth a visit for some quality food.

Wonderfully decorated and intimate inside, makes a change from the larger samey same type venues in Maldon. Food was top notch, as was the service...although the fish pie was very dry. That said, that was only one below average dish out of 12. Only thing that would put me off coming back to Haus is the extortionate wine list. Cheapest bottles start at £27-30 and a Malbec was £36 and a bottle of Sauvignon was £46. Yes, £46!!!! No bottle of wine should cost that much, this is not Kensington, it's Maldon...bring the prices down to £20-25. Until you do, I regrettably, won't be returning.

7 of us descended on this building for lunch and were warmly greeted by our lovely waitress, who made us feel very welcome. Tables were repositioned & cleaned , chairs moved, menus provided and adequate time allowed for us to settle and make our choices. 5 adults & 2 children all with various requests ranging from ham egg & chips, sandwiches, scrambled eggs on toast and jacket potatoes. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, and the cups of tea's & coffee's. Prices were fair and we all said we would return.

We have some friends staying for a long weekend. After a long journey due to traffic we thought it would nice to walk to the Fox & Hounds for some food and a drink. It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside. The pub has a large seating area at the front which is on the village green. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We went in and ordered the first round of drinks and collected the food menus. Our friends have two children who loved the menu and were very excited about ordering food. Louise came out and took our order. We were a party of six and had the following which we would highly recommend: - 3 x Johnny Cash Wagyu Burgers with Beer Battered Onion Rings and Fries with the skin on - 1 x Chicken Goujons with Chips - 1 x Chockrn Goujons with Cheesie Chips - 1 x Lamb Kabab with Rice Chris who is the amazing chef came out to check all was ok with the food. It was a big yes from everyone around the table. Everyone ate everything on their plates, even the children to the amazement of the parents. We ordered desserts. We have recently moved to the village. I felt very proud taking to the Fix and Hounds for the evening. I knew that they would love it and they did. If you live in Essex and want to visit a country pub for food and a drink on a summers evening the Fox and Hounds delivers on being in the heart of a traditional beautiful British village. Having plenty of outside seating on the village green, offering friendly and relaxed service, amazing vast food menu, amazing tasty freshly cooked to order food, and of course a full bar selection.

We all had an excellent time at the Hurdlemakers Arms, tucking into roast dinners, we each had different, beef, lamb, pork and turkey , and they definitely don’t skimp on the portions of meat. We had a great selection of vegeatables ( of which the leftovers we had boxed up to bring home) All our plates were emptied, it was all so beautifully cooked and presented. Our partners had starters of homemade soup , and homemade pate, both of which were extremely tasty, but having visited before we girls skipped the starters to allow room for the amazing roast. We finished with coffees as no room left for desserts. Nettie and Gary and the gang have great hospitality qualities, and obviously take pride in the food they serve, which is evident as a roomful of happy diners. Would definitely recommend for anyone to dine out, and we will certainly be coming back for the Christmas themed dinner as soon as we can arrange a date.
