Shame to say but after 20 odd years this is not the same, on my last visit we had a big breakfast but it had been cooked in the microwave, the eggs had never seen oil of any sort, the bacon too was cooked in a microwave, I I wanted fast food I would have gone to a famous american burger outlet

Even though we live in Maldon we have never visited this cafe. A friend recommended the breakfast so we thought we would give it a go. Can only say it was great, a real English fry up and plenty of it along with freindly service and a reasonable price. We shall certainly return and tell others about this little gem.

Bee's cafe, on the first floor of the Emporium in Maldon High Street, is well worth a visit. The staff are very welcoming and the food is well cooked and good value. There is a good choice of dishes both on the menu and on their blackboard on the wall. The cafe caters for people who only want a rest from shopping and a piece of cake and a coffee to breakfast or a main lunch time meal. The food is well cooked and a lot is homemade. Their broccoli and stilton soup is the best I have ever tasted. Their opening hours are normally displayed on a sandwich board outside on the pavement as they are not open everyday. The only negative thing about the cafe is that there is no lift but the staff in the Emporium are very helpful in helping with walker's etc.

We were browsing in The Emporium, and decided to try this smashing little cafe on the top floor. There is a huge menu on offer, ranging from sandwiches to proper cooked dinners, all freshly prepared on site. We went for the full English breakfast, complete with naughty but nice fried bread !! It was absolutely delicious- hot, tasty, plenty on our plate, and served with a lovely mug of hot coffee and buttered toast. Prices are extremely reasonable- we paid about a tenner for the two of us. We will definitely be back !!

If you see builders in a cafe you know that you must be getting value for money. Lovely as well if you want a scone and a pot of tea, great for pensioners if they can manage the stairs!!

My elderly parents like to visit this cafe every week for a trip out to the market. That might all sound very much not what you are looking for on a review web page but there are several reasons why I have bothered to write this.Firstly, this little cafe is above a very old style, traditional garden and home shop. It is honestly like a walk back in time in Dickens', "The Old Curiosity Shop". At the back of the shop and outside are a pretty good pet products and garden centre that has access straight out to Butts Lane car park and the weekly market.Secondly, Bee's Cafe, upstairs is quite basic but very clean and welcoming. The tables and chairs are plastic garden furniture but the service and food are definitely as you would get at home; traditional hearty meals, served piping hot, in big portions and at good value. The ladies that run the cafe are very friendly and caring towards their (mainly) older clientele and always have cheerful greetings and kind words to even their new, first time visitors. So, basically. Good food, good service, good value and nice people. What else would you want?

We were regular diner's at Bee's cafe, the food was generous, of high quality and reasonable. Now the surroundings need urgently updating, the food portions are not so generous and the food quality has gone down. We will not be using them again.

7 of us descended on this building for lunch and were warmly greeted by our lovely waitress, who made us feel very welcome. Tables were repositioned & cleaned , chairs moved, menus provided and adequate time allowed for us to settle and make our choices. 5 adults & 2 children all with various requests ranging from ham egg & chips, sandwiches, scrambled eggs on toast and jacket potatoes. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, and the cups of tea's & coffee's. Prices were fair and we all said we would return.

This was my second visit and my husbands third so apologies for nor reviewing sooner. This place is an absolute gem. Great food, lovely team. I had a fish finger sandwich in lovely granary bread, my daughter had a cheese toastie and the hubster (on his first trip out after knee replacement surgery) had a cooked breakfast. Everything was delicious. We also had a couple of chip sides...just fantastic! We were beaten but had a couple of cake takeaways too. The chocolate cake and fruit cake have been given a big 5/5 this afternoon. Thanks to the lovely ladies that looked after us today

Visited Black pig on a Sunday morning for brunch and it was very tasty. The presentation of the dishes is fantastic along with the excellent ingredients make each meal very enjoyable. We ordered the veggie brunch and Eggs Royale which I added a portion of streaky bacon as an extra. We also had the hash browns as a side dish which would have been nicer if the portion was for four and not three to save fighting for the odd one . Overall well worth a visit for some quality food.

What an amazing little find. Friendly staff, clean venue and setting outside. Some lovely touches like blankets for outdoor seating, lovely beach feel and nice chilled music. Not too loud. If you get a chance definitely pop in and support this independent business! Thanks guys, the coffee was superb.

The food was ok nothing special but the worst thing was it was only card payments which we was not told when ordering as we always pay cash and when I asked if we didn't have cards with us how's would we pay then they told us that they would ask us to phone a friend and get them to make the payment.i went to the ferry boat inn not who wants to be a millionaire TV show
