We have eaten in here previously and the food was good, although service was not great then either. We visited again this weekend but the Sunday roast was not good and service was very poor again! What made us uncomfortable was the amount of "non" staff that were allowed to go in and out of the kitchen area, where food was being prepared. No care for spreading germs and talking over food sat on the counter. Management do not seem to care as they are just stood about making no effort with the customers, or taking notice of the staff doing nothing. If the manager took more pride in his staff and customers as a starter, I am sure he would make more money as people would return and spend more whilst there. We gave deserts a miss as too much effort trying to catch a member of staffs attention, and they were probably just the same quality as the mains. The bar staff and waitresses seem to gather at the end of the bar and are more interested in chatting than serving with one particular staff member puffing away on her vape. Not a good sight, particularly where people are eating. We won't return.

Not long moved to the area. The Kings Head is in the next village. Had friends visiting so thought we’d book a table as it was a Saturday night. We drove into the village from the direction that we got to the car park first without driving past the pub, It was a bit difficult to navigate how to get inside. As there are a collection of barns and what looks like a disused dirty conservatory. There are no entry signs. We were just going to walk back to the car park entrance to enter from the street when we saw a member of staff. She told us to walk through the conservatory then through the restaurant and she would meet us a the bar. We were given a table in the window which had a lovely view but had a huge tv to the side of it which was really distracting. We ordered drinks at the bar and then went to collect menus as none on the table. We picked two different menus that had similar items on but presented very differently. The menu is not easy to read as it’s a huge choice all crammed onto one side of A4 paper. I’m Dyslexic which for me layout not being starters then a list, mains then a list and deserts then a list is really confusing. The layout is kind of newspaper style. Our order was taken and our starters arrived. The young lady serving us was very nice, smiley and relaxed. One of my friends is rather particular about certain things like minimal water being served from a closed bottle with an empty glass not being poured from a hose into the glass and delivered to the table. The young lady was very good at dealing with her. Even though she could not resolve the issue as the pub didn’t have any bottles of minimal water. My starter was kicking chicken wings which were delicious and melted off the bone. My main was beer battered haddock with chunky chips and a side portion of beer battered onion rings. Again delicious. I didn’t eat it all as the portions are a good size. I wanted to save room for dessert. I had the apple crumble with custard. Again delicious. I had a great evening and really enjoyed my food. I’ll definitely be going back again. Next time I will be mindful of who I’m taking as it’s not a brasserie type establishment that I thought it was.

Probably the worst pub food eaten for many years. Lunch menu was very limited with only standard pub fare. Fish and chips was limited to two portions available. When it came the batter was consistent with old cardboard and fish was of unknown origin. Lemonade was off and decor left much to be desired. All in all a very unsatisfactory experience which will not be repeated.

Shockingly poor food. It was actually colder in the pub than outside. We asked for a heater and a lovely gentleman lit the fire. Bear in mind we arrived at 1:15pm and the pub was freezing, there was another table in there with 3 ladies still had their coats on. The food was extremely poor, the burger looked like something I would have at a kids party, the curry had next to no lamb and I am wondering if the 'spicy rice' was one of those packets you shove in the microwave. The scampi and chips - fine no cooking skills required there bung in the deep fat fryer. The dessert menu consisted of chocolate pudding or ice cream (only vanilla ice cream) that was the full dessert menu. So we did get 1 pudding and had the cold custard with it. Absolutely awful, the 'cake' was dry. Really very disappointed as we came here last year at the same time and food was good. We came back because it was my husband's birthday. I should have complained on the day really, regretting that I didn't. £86 in total - a waste of money. I definitely could have cooked something better myself. We really don't go out that often so this was supposed to be a treat. I must just also mention the carrot garnish, who grates a tiny bit of carrot and puts a piece of cucumber on the top as a garnish. This pub is missing out on a tonne of business, it's the only one in the actual high street. A real shame, I won't be going back - obviously.

So disappointed. Booked a table. On arrival, we sat waiting for 15 minutes before asking at the bar what the procedure was. The barman was "sorry*. No menu, only a special board. Ordered beef roast (Sunday). This was the only time we ever had a "Sunday Roast" served without Yorkshire puddings. Also served without gravy! This was requested and a small gravy boat supplied with enough gravy for one. The beef was excellent, succulent and tasty. Sticky toffee puddings: I suspect microwaved - one acceptable, the other crystallised, probably by over cooking. Having ventured to the King's Head for old times sake we do not envisage returning.

I came to this pub at Christmas and the difference now to then is disturbing. At Christmas there was a lovely bar woman and the land lady came over to my table to welcome us. The food then was excellent and the pub felt vibrant. After just visiting again standards have plummeted, with the so called owner walking around drunk. Another customer told me he works when he is high aswell. Food was poor, very bad and my children asked to leave and never to return. The owner was very rude and kept clearing his nose as he walked past us. The ownership here is an evident problem, a woman who I believe to be called Linn made my meal more depressing after suggesting the food was amazing. Thank you Charlie for the service, only reason I’d return. Safe to say he cares not sure about everyone else.

What a dreadful experience! The food that was served was below average, I could’ve cooked better at home. The service was the worst part. I believe the gentleman that served my family was actually the owner of the business. His clothes were dirty, we wasn’t checked on after we received our meals & he was extremely rude. He didn’t smile or greet us with pleasure, we felt very uncomfortable to be there & it felt like we was putting his evening out. Multiple things weren’t available on the menu and the man serving us knew nothing about allergens when asked. Unfortunately we didn’t catch his name, we did complain to the bar member at the time but unfortunately there isn’t much they can do as it was the owner serving us. We won’t be returning to this establishment! We would advise you also steer clear unless you want a frosty service & below average food.

We visited this pub with a good friend for what we hoped would be a pleasant evening meal. We approached the ladies behind the bar to enquire as to whether we could order evening meals for the three of us. The lady said yes, but before anyone could say any more, the owner/chef rudely barged in from the kitchen and in a loud voice, asked if we had made a booking. We told him that we had not, he then declared that we would have to wait an hour at least. We looked around and there were only two other people in the pub and they were drinking only. We decided that we would try somewhere else where they were more friendly. I can thoroughly recommend the Green Man.

Fantastic evening meal for four. Good choice of meals on the menu and more on the specials menu. Generous portions and well presented. Friendly, efficient service. Dog friendly. Highly recommended.

Very cosy pub with friendly staff and great food - a place where the chef comes out to chat to local patrons is always a good sign!

It's frustrating when you turn up at 2.20pm to be told that the food stops at 2.30pm. When you say that it's before 2.30pm and you still get a no then you just find a more hospitable pub.

Not closed midafternoon and a welcome stop on the three pubs walk: the first open on the 8km walk. Local ales on tap, and a good selection of gins.

Should stay open til 4:00pm if it says it’s open til 4:00pm. We turned up at 3:45pm and they wouldn’t even serve us a takeaway cup of tea. All the staff were out and locked up well before the advertised closing time. Poor show.
