Fox & HOunds in Maldon

We have some friends staying for a long weekend. After a long journey due to traffic we thought it would nice to walk to the Fox & Hounds for some food and a drink. It was a beautiful evening so we sat outside. The pub has a large seating area at the front which is on the village green. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We went in and ordered the first round of drinks and collected the food menus. Our friends have two children who loved the menu and were very excited about ordering food. Louise came out and took our order. We were a party of six and had the following which we would highly recommend: - 3 x Johnny Cash Wagyu Burgers with Beer Battered Onion Rings and Fries with the skin on - 1 x Chicken Goujons with Chips - 1 x Chockrn Goujons with Cheesie Chips - 1 x Lamb Kabab with Rice Chris who is the amazing chef came out to check all was ok with the food. It was a big yes from everyone around the table. Everyone ate everything on their plates, even the children to the amazement of the parents. We ordered desserts. We have recently moved to the village. I felt very proud taking to the Fix and Hounds for the evening. I knew that they would love it and they did. If you live in Essex and want to visit a country pub for food and a drink on a summers evening the Fox and Hounds delivers on being in the heart of a traditional beautiful British village. Having plenty of outside seating on the village green, offering friendly and relaxed service, amazing vast food menu, amazing tasty freshly cooked to order food, and of course a full bar selection.

Really warm and friendly welcome, a great menu, good value and delicious food nicely presented. We went as a party of six, all with a different meal in mind and the menu covered all our needs. Will definitely return soon. (Especially as we are moving to Tillingham very soon!!)

We were viewing a house in the area and decided to call in for sone lunch, The menu is incredible! When the food arrived we were both amazed. The chief came out to check we were both enjoying our food. We are in the process of buying the house in the village we viewed. We look forward to many more lunches.

Popped in for lunch. Had the most amazing sandwiches ever. Their BLT and Cheese and Onion on the softest bloomer bread were absolute delicious served with a portion of outstanding fries. Decided to then go back for an evening meal. Again you could not fault the food, Liver and Onions and the Shepherds Pie s as are highly recommended but going by our two visits I would say anything on the menu is going to be awesome.

A nice friendly village pub. Always made to feel welcome, excellent food. Very reasonable price and good beer

Ate here whilst staying in the area, Thai style menu very disappointing, overcooked and fairly tasteless. Wouldn't return.

My husband and I have visited this wonderful pub on at least 4 separate occasions. Each time we have visited we have been greeted by very welcoming friendly and attentive staff and have enjoyed wonderful food and drinks. They offer both British and Thai menus and we have ordered from both. We have found the food to be of good quality, well cooked and great value for money. The Thai food has to be our personal favourite. The spring rolls and pad Thai are the best we have ever tasted (we have tasted quite a few over the years). We have also dined at the pub with our dog who was made welcome and given some dog biscuits which she loved ! we will definitely be regular patrons.

Went on the recommendation of a friend and I wasn't disappointed. The owner is friendly, the staff attentive. Even the chef comes out to discuss the menu and will cook to order. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back

Loved the friendly welcome, the beer, the location and most of all the home made Thai food. This was cooked so well, was delicious and was extremely good value for money. Liked it so much we ate there twice during our brief stay in the area.

No complaints at all food was exceptional lovely flavours and presentation, we did have a long wait as it was so busy but well worth it in the end, the Pad Thai with prawns was delicious as was the Green Thai curry as well the different dishes our family ordered , very nice staff a thoroughly enjoyable experience

We visited as a family of 7 at 1pm on Sunday for lunch. Al though the decor isn’t amazing and we had a little wait for our food, the lovely friendly staff and the superb Freshly made food made up for this. I would definitely eat here again. We all enjoyed our food and ate every last morsel. Highly recommend, my compliments to the chef

Wow what a surprise, a typical village pub with a twist, homemade tasty thai food. We all ordered a different dish and everybody loved them. We waited longer than usual but each dish was made fresh so it was worth it. Good choices of real ales and wine and a limited menu of pub grub too

A really lovely vegetarian Thai meal for 3 of us yesterday evening. It was much appreciated by all! Thanks for the delivery as well.

Visited Fox & Hounds for lunch today, very welcoming, friendly and attentive staff and dog friendly 🐶. Always a pleasure to visit. Food was delicious and piping hot. Inside looks great and spotlessly clean too. Thank you 😊

Wanted a nice pub for a spot of lunch for myself and my mum. From the outside looked lovey. Inside a dump. Owner too busy on the phone. No customer service. Food very poor. Would not recommend

I went with friends for lunch earlier this month but have only just got around to posting a review - sorry! We were encouraged to try the Thai menu. As vegetarians and rather wimpy about very spicy food, we were provided with three assorted sharing dishes which were all fantastic. We also went for the suggested spring rolls for starters. The main meal came with rice - all absolutely amazing. I will definitely go again! Thanks to the wonderful Thai chef.

We were staying locally and walked to the pub for a pint and a bite to eat. The Thai menu looked lovely and lots of dishes being served, so thought we’d try some and we weren’t disappointed! The food was very authentic, tasty, nicely prepared and presented and reasonably priced! We’ll be back again!

What a pleasant surprise to find such excellent 'home style' Thai food at this popular village pub. Just be sure to let the very friendly lady chef know if you don't like it too spicy! Would be happy to visit again any time.

So disappointed, arrived at 2:53 asked for 2 drinks and wanted a bowl of chips only to be told no, they shut at 3. So they were still open but didn't want to serve us 7 minutes before closing time

We stopped off here whilst exploring the area for lunch. We both ordered the ploughman's lunch - my wife with prawns and I with a selection of cheeses. We both received enormous plates of food. Two minor negatives were that we had to wait over 45 minutes after placing our orders as the prawns had to be prepared and my food was a little salty. The atmosphere within the place was ever so friendly and we felt welcome. It was very much the epitome of the English village pub. As well as the English menu there is also a Thai menu.

Popped in after our cricket match for a pint and a bite. Discovered the pub did Thai food, we had a small selection all of which was excellent. The range of drinks available were good, especially for myself as I'm an ale drinker.Aim to plan a longer visit in the near future to savour more of the lovely Thai cuisine !

Went here for lunch with a friend, lovely food, friendly atmosphere will definitely be returning. A good choice of food on menu, will be trying the Thai food next time.

Having heard this was a good place to eat and being a local, we went Sunday for lunch. A very expensive pint of soda (£2,50} put us on the back foot, but hey ho. I had the veggie option. Turned out to be veggies in Aunt Bessies yorkshire.with gravy. which is OK but the vegetables were rock hard. The only ones that were soft were tomatoes and mushroom, but in gravy ???When the manager Peter asked me how my dinner was I said " nice but the veg were too hard for my liking" he answered with "if you want mush you should have asked for mush". How flipping rude!!!! I can't believe the landlord would say that,The bar maid came out and when we said what we thought she was very apologetic, but too bad,, we won't be going back. I work in another local pub and will not be recommending the fox and hounds at all

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. Popped in with elderly friends for Sunday lunch. Catering for everyone we were all really pleased. Thai was lovely, roast beef dinners were fantastic and the Gammon and chips were fabulous. The staff are friendly and the pub so clean. Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone.

We called in for Sunday lunch, we were treated to one of the best sandwiches eaten this year! Sunday menu roasts only , we really only wanted a sandwich the landlord checked with kitchen and we were so pleased order taken ! The bread , the warm beef inside just perfect, also my cheese and tomato just brilliant, fresh tasty and just superb along with salad garnish. We agreed every mouthful to savour beef incredibly tasty and tender.If the sandwiches of this quality served we need to return to sample the roasts. Along with excellent friendly customer service. Thankyou for lovely lunch from the three of us from Kent researching family History in Church. If you are passing not to be missed!

We don't usually eat Thai food. We've been put off by too many poor green currys.

Called in here because it looked nice on the village Green and was pleasantly surprised to find they served Thia food. The staff couldn't do more to ensure that we had a good meal with the chef coming out personally to ensure the food was cooked to our liking. Excellent food, would certainly go back next time we are in the area.

Really enjoyed the authentic Thai menu. Good value and cooked to your heat tolerance! Good value as well.

Food was absolutely delicious. Authentic Thai food dishes and homemade chicken fillet goujouns for the kids. Staff absolutely friendly...deffo a come back when around in this area.

I booked the Fox and Hound for 23 people for a Sunday Lunch in December, Peter was fantastic and always easily contactable.

We stopped there for dinner, food was really good and the customer service was excellent. Will be back.

Tuvimos un gran paseo a lo largo de la pared del mar en Bradwell y parado para una bebida. Por desgracia para nosotros, en el pub no es un lugar para comer durante todo el día, y se puede apreciar por qué dada su ubicación rural del pueblo, pero era un poco llagas y me dijeron que la cocina había cerrado ver postres se sirve a un grupo de comensales algún tiempo después de que llegamos! Sin duda había pedido. Pero disfrutamos de la parada, a todo el mundo, y los clientes encargado fue muy amable con nosotros y nuestro perro y disfrutar de las delicias que ofrece. Nos aseguraremos que volver durante un tio de comida en el futuro.

Caminamos de Bradwell en mar a Fox and Hounds último domingo con los perros nos sentamos y ordenados Caribe pollo y dulce y amargo pollo. Las comidas salió el dulce y amargo hot aira tenía grandes trozos de pollo de licitación y piña fresca del Caribe pollo era picante y lleno de ingredientes frescos. Ambas comidas donde llena de sabor y color y el arroz estaba luz y suaves. Después del almuerzo, empezó a filtrarse con lluvia así que el Señor de la tierra dejarnos un paraguas para volver a pie. La buena comida de pub bien enojado.

Después de 4 millas a pie de Tillingham queríamos algo para comer y donde queríamos ir nos pareció que estaba cerrado. Hace un año dije que dudo que volvería a la Fox & Hounds, necesidades deben (aunque no la de pescado y patatas fritas).

El Fox and Hounds es uno de los dos bares en el pueblo de Tillingham donde hemos tenido una casa durante 17 años. El pub se encuentra en la verde muy pintoresca con vistas de la Iglesia. Encantador para sentarse fuera y disfrutar de una bebida en el verano. Este es un pub que tiene comida y no es un restaurante. Por favor, recuerde que debe elegir para comer allí. Te pub grub aceptable, nada más. El servicio es bueno y amable. El gerente, Pete, ha estado allí durante el tiempo que puedo recordar que es una buena señal que significa constante estándares. Un pub encantador. Genial para una pinta y un bocadillo y luego una caminata energética en la hermosa campiña de los alrededores.

Habíamos estado antes en este pub año pasado y tenía una ensalada maravillosa. Durante esta visita el gerente y el personal nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos y nos atendían con una sonrisa, la comida fue una gran decepción, por el precio y la relación calidad-precio. Pedimos bacalao y patatas fritas y después de tomar nuestro pedido, después el gerente nos dijeron que no tenían bacalao, eglefino pero tenían fresca de Whitby, nos dijo que era para morirse. Por desgracia, cuando fue servido su aspecto y sabor como pescado horno, que estoy seguro de que era. El tamaño de la porción de los peces era pequeña y probado de cartón, las patatas fritas que servía era bastante bueno y sabroso. también fueron servidos con una pequeña ensalada.
