The best restaurants serving British food in Maldon East of England

I bought my mum here for an afternoon tea, and it was thoroughly enjoyable. My mum is disabled and has to have some space to manoeuvre, this was not a problem. The staff are polite and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The afternoon tea itself was presented beautifully, lots of colour and a good selection for sandwich fillings. The scones are divine so tasty and shaped like little hearts! We struggled to finish everything, but took home what we could not eat in a gorgeous little box. I will definitely be booking to come back again for afternoon tea💕

Delicious is all I can say! A cheese scone with cream cheese, chives and chutney for £3.50! Quirky place. Friendly service. Great

We enjoyed the Sunday roast recently , it was very tasty and plentiful, looking forward to making it a regular thing over the coming winter!

Plenty of outside seating when weather permits and very cosy inside. Reasonably priced and very good menu for a light meal or a homemade cake. Good service with a smile. A hidden gem,don't miss it.

Food was good, staff were good too

Very nice hotel, furnished beautifully. Lovely well equipped room. Lots of nice touches. Great breakfast and friendly staff. Bar offers interesting cocktails. Restaurant was closed as it was a Monday. But there's a good I dian right next door.

Went on Sunday, the three of us. Had not booked as it was a spur of the moment but we were warmly welcomed and accommodated. We each had the roast dinner and a dessert. The food was plentiful and well cooked. Friendly staff, great menu and a good atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We had the most wonderful afternoon tea and unlimited tea & coffee. I could not recommend On The Latch enough for their friendly service, delicious food and we can’t wait to go back again. Thank you so much x

Absolutely amazing food. First time visiting after reading the reviews here and we wasn't disappointed. We will definitely be returning. Had the ham, egg and chips and is definitely up there with the best we've ever had. Highly recommend.

Their cheese burger chips and onion rings are amazing! wanted something different, and they served up amazing food as always, large portions, staff are lovely great little take away!

Nice Cafe Too expensive Sausage Sandwich £6 Wow ! Beans on toast £6 ??? Breakfast a little high priced £13 with tea ?? I opted for jam in toast was lovely thick crusty bread x 2 home made jam and a tea £5.50 OK x Lower prices I would return ??

Fabulous place to meet friends... Welcoming with a good menu at a fair price ... Something for everyone whether vegetarian or meat eater...

What a lovely pub this is. We come here quite a lot and enjoy sitting in the beautiful garden with our 2 lurcher dogs. The staff are always attentive and friendly, the landlord keeps a very good cellar for the real ales. The food is presented and cooked really well. Todays special Hake with cockles and sanfire on new potatoes in a creamy sauce was devoured by my partner. I had the excellent cajan chicken. The pub is a little off the Beaton track but certainly worth a visit.
