7 of us descended on this building for lunch and were warmly greeted by our lovely waitress, who made us feel very welcome. Tables were repositioned & cleaned , chairs moved, menus provided and adequate time allowed for us to settle and make our choices. 5 adults & 2 children all with various requests ranging from ham egg & chips, sandwiches, scrambled eggs on toast and jacket potatoes. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food, and the cups of tea's & coffee's. Prices were fair and we all said we would return.

Lots of works going on at the museum but tea room is still running as usual - despite the disorder outside. We sat outside, lots of lovely picnic tables to choose from under the shade of established trees (they would have benefitted from a dust off - morning cobwebs and bird mess had to be avoided) BUT food was delicious and service excellent! Our waitress, Hannah, made a lovely latte and was very chatty. Nothing too much trouble for any of the staff. We’ll be visiting again.

We went to the museum on Good Friday, then went into the Tea Room. Although it wasn't very busy, we were told there would be an hour's wait for food. They didn't even have any sandwiches. We said we'd have two cups of tea, but could only have a pot of tea, most of which went to waste. So a pot of tea and a couple of biscuits cost us £8. Then we went home rather disappointed. It was maybe just as well they couldn't serve us any food as it was rather expensive. It was cheaper to eat in London a couple of weeks ago. I would advise any families to take a picnic, you'll save yourselves a lot of money.

My second visit for breakfast to this fantastic little eatery! The first visit I had the Eggs Royal, this time the full English. Absolutely top nosh on both occasions and such good value! The ambience is warm, relaxed, bright & airy and the staff really friendly and attentive. This place is a real gem! The surrounding grounds of the Power Museum made for a pleasant little stroll afterwards...you don't need to even visit the Museum (but it's well worth it if you have time!) Thanks Sam and Team for the delicious breakfast, the smiles and perfick service! We will be back! :-)

Visited today with friends for a CV19 lockdown reunion. We all had brunch sat outside surrounded by mature gardens and vintage machinery. Very friendly staff and quick service both for bringing food out and clearing tables. Lots of car parking available, toilets were ok, 'olde worldy' feel inside the tea room, suitable social distancing markers, one way system and sanitising items available. Enjoyed browsing the second hand books on the way out

Staff were very accommodating. We arrived 15 minutes before the stated lunch time but the Tearooms ladies said that it was OK to order lunch except for jacket potatoes as they were still baking in the dedicated oven. They willingly offered me extra salad instead of chips. The Cajun chicken was very good: spicy and tender. Salad was varied and fresh. Husband’s tuna mayo baguette was tuna-rich and plentiful. Coffee was hot and mellow. We were full and satisfied. The only small niggle was that there were no sugar-free cold drinks other than water. Returned for afternoon coffee and sat outside in tranquil, tree-shaded surroundings near to river.

1. Waitress ‘vaped’ instead of serving us and plain ignored us.2. Pre booked ‘Afternoon tea’ was sat out in the open before we got there (goodness knows how long it had been out) 3. Wasn’t offered a drink to go with our ‘afternoon tea’, just left at the table (without plates to eat anything off of) 4. Best yet - The ‘savoury treats’ and ‘homemade cakes’ were shop bought. We walked out. = SHOCKING. Avoid. This was supposed to be a Father’s Day treat for yummy partners first Father’s Day. Think it’s fair to say it was quite the opposite!

I enjoy visiting the Museum of Power when they hold events but every time I go it takes an age to be served. Not enough staff on for their events but even when I visited recently for lunch on a mid week day it was even slower! My order eventually turned up cold and mum's about ten minutes after so we ate separately and drinks had arrived half an hour before. Mum's order was wrong but she didn't want to wait any longer. I would still visit as love the place but cold drinks and no food.

WE went here on a day that they hosted an antiques event by Haddon Events. double whammy for us being antique dealers, the coffee shop is open but entry into the museum costs. however having said that its well worth it especially if you like engineering things, things of old have any fascination with the past. I was gob smacked at the size of the steam engine and we must go back one day when its working. One of the last of its type in situ, a great place for a school visits or scouts, or if like us you just wondered what it was, go you will not be disappointed.

The Steam Pump Tea Room makes the absolutely the best scones I've eaten - I joined the ladies of Chelmsford WI and we all really enjoyed their Cream Tea with sky high scones, jam and clotted cream. Scrumptious. Going back for more later this week :D

This was my second visit and my husbands third so apologies for nor reviewing sooner. This place is an absolute gem. Great food, lovely team. I had a fish finger sandwich in lovely granary bread, my daughter had a cheese toastie and the hubster (on his first trip out after knee replacement surgery) had a cooked breakfast. Everything was delicious. We also had a couple of chip sides...just fantastic! We were beaten but had a couple of cake takeaways too. The chocolate cake and fruit cake have been given a big 5/5 this afternoon. Thanks to the lovely ladies that looked after us today

Visited Black pig on a Sunday morning for brunch and it was very tasty. The presentation of the dishes is fantastic along with the excellent ingredients make each meal very enjoyable. We ordered the veggie brunch and Eggs Royale which I added a portion of streaky bacon as an extra. We also had the hash browns as a side dish which would have been nicer if the portion was for four and not three to save fighting for the odd one . Overall well worth a visit for some quality food.
