Haus in Maldon

Wonderfully decorated and intimate inside, makes a change from the larger samey same type venues in Maldon. Food was top notch, as was the service...although the fish pie was very dry. That said, that was only one below average dish out of 12. Only thing that would put me off coming back to Haus is the extortionate wine list. Cheapest bottles start at £27-30 and a Malbec was £36 and a bottle of Sauvignon was £46. Yes, £46!!!! No bottle of wine should cost that much, this is not Kensington, it's Maldon...bring the prices down to £20-25. Until you do, I regrettably, won't be returning.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, it was a little bit pricey but the food was worth it, service was great too, we will definitely be going back!

This is a lovely restaurant. The food is excellent with lots of choice, cooked to perfection. All the staff are friendly, very helpful and attentive and great for a laugh. We had the best time and will definitely be coming back. The espresso martinis are the best ever!!

My wife and I went for an early dinner. We had a table booked for 7pm but we arrived 15 minutes early. The waitress said it “was no problem” and We were shown straight to our table . We had a cocktail each before our starter of baked Camembert and warm, rustic bread. Which was a perfect starter. For main course my wife had chicken supreme with tarragon sauce and I had the lamb shoulder. We shared a bowl of seasonal vegetables which were carrots, peas and broccoli. All perfectly cooked and seasoned. My lamb shoulder was also perfectly cooked and was in fact delicious. All in all, the whole experience was excellent. I can’t fault it. We’ll Definately return to Haus again and would recommend it highly.

We’ve been twice the past couple of weeks and left disappointed both times… When this place first opened it was excellent. Sadly standards have slipped already… Massively overpriced new wine list that has the same wines as Salero Lounge chain down the road. Massively overpriced food that has seen portion sizes shrink too. We went for dinner, that was decent to be fair, excellent attentive staff… then went for a brunch as we saw the huge stack of pancakes on their Facebook posts… I had to take a photo of the reality as it wouldn’t fill up a gnat.

So impressed with Haus! We had a brilliant evening here with friends yesterday, great value set menu and the best espresso martini I've ever had. But the thing that really stood out was the exceptional service and hosting by Jade, who was charming and knowledgable about every detail. Hang onto Jade, she made a great venue five stars! thanks for a great evening!

This modern restaurant promotes itself as a place where; “good company can share great food together” - and so we decided to give it a try. We certainly weren’t disappointed. As a starter, my wife chose Soup of the Day (Carrot and Cumin), whilst I plumped for Grilled Asparagus. For the main some of our group went for Chateaubriand, but I had the Duck Breast. We finished off with Vanilla Panna Cotta. It was all excellent, as was the service. From the wine list we enjoyed their house Claret – Chateau Tour Bel Air (2020). All in all it was a great dining experience.

Been here 3 times since it opened and every time I am impressed by the quality of both food and service. An absolute gem in Maldon, I can’t recommend highly enough.

Cant say enough about how well this team do, from the moment you step in to a warm welcome and cocktail at the bar to the fabulous chef and serving team. Food is outstanding every time - we have visited many times and it is so consistently good. Menu changes to keep it exciting. Very lucky to have such a stunning, beautifully furnished restaurant in our town.

So lucky to have this stunning restaurant on our doorstep. Beautifully furnished and decorated. Cocktails or bubbles at the bar . The menu and food is simply outstanding. We visit regularly and it is so consistent. Can’t wait to go back

Amazing food, great quality! The decoration inside is beautiful and the staff are lovely and great service! The only down side was that I could have done with the dessert being bigger as it was stunning! (I had the brownie) I nearly ordered another portion!

The most amazing Charity Gala Evening from stat to finish. The atmosphere was exceptional the food stunning and the staff so attentive and friendly. The entertainment was magical and the soul singer fabulous. We have visited this restaurant a few times now and each experience is special . It’s a fabulous place for a romantic evening too.

Superb evening again. Attentive service, relaxed and friendly ambience and beautiful food. Absolutely loved it. We had an amazing evening. Food intolerance for one of our party was catered for with no trouble. Would definitely recommend.

What a lovely evening! Very friendly welcome in arrival, seated, cocktails. Very relaxing experience in ordering and service, not rushed. Everything we ordered was really tasteful and to be savoured, so much we didn’t have room for desserts! Overall we spent two and a half hours and commented it felt like we weren’t in Maldon as it was such a different and relaxed environment. A lovely place for a romantic meal and all credit to the kitchen and front of house for getting everything right! We will be back for sure !!

Wow just wow! Lovely decor, excellent service and delicious food. Definitely not cheap but to be recommended. We shared the beef wellington and it was amazing. Will definitely be back.

We booked to eat at Haus to celebrate my girls birthday. We was offers drinks before our table was ready whick took a little time, I was shocked at the very limited offers on spirits, I asked what rums they had only to be told they only had Bricardi and no dark rums. (Because of this I didn't even look at the wine menu) The menu, I had to query why the Arancino cost more the the Duck starter? But our starters where lovely, for main we ordered the Beef Wellington, which was cooked to perfection, though the Pommes Anna on the otherhand where way under seasoned, I'm puzzled why this dish was served a side salad alongside vegetables & Jus?. Decor 5* Service 3* Drinks choices 1* Food 4* All in all a nice evening out at Haus but sadly I didn't get the urge to want to rush back, I hope in time they will start offer specials along side there la carte menu.

This new restaurant is a stunning transformation of a former street-corner pub - the decor is relaxed and freshly modern. And as for the food - wow! Every course of our meal was exceptional in terms of presentation, ingenuity and taste. We are so lucky to live a few minutes' walk away from "Haus", but in my view it would be worth an hour's drive for such a high standard dining experience. We will definitely be going back.

Very nice decor inside and a good looking restaurant in Maldon. Food was very bland. My friend had Kung Po Crispy Duck Salad and Spiced Monk fish while I had Suffolk Blue & Mushroom Arancino and HAUS Signature Seafood Pie with Espresso Martinis and a Gin Cocktail. All 4 dishes were bland lacking seasoning and taste so we asked for extra salt and sauces (they don’t yet offer any chilli sauce or tabasco). The Gin cocktail tasted like lemonade but the Espresso Martini was to die for! One of the best Espresso Martinis I’ve had. The service was nothing special or memorable with long waits. We’ll wait until the food quality goes up to return again as the prices are not cheap specially from Maldon!

Visited for the first time on Sunday with friends. First impressions were the friendly professional staff and also the decor which is absolutely gorgeous. We all had the roasts including the sharer option which was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommend that as you get to try all the different meats and it’s great value. Had a lovely afternoon , enjoyed the food and drinks. Little tip before you go is to sign up to their mailing lists and you get a complimentary cocktail which is such a nice touch. Looking forward to trying more of these. Will definitely be back to try the mid week menu and this will be our new go to place for the best Sunday roast around.

A beautiful setting for dinner, the decor is stunning, and the food and wine were outstanding, I had the duck leg and it was incredible. We have already booked to return, totally impressed and have highly recommended to everyone.

Came on Sunday for a family lunch. We had bread, arancino, roast dinners and brownies. The food was incredible, served to us in good time and the staff were so accommodating. Julian’s espresso martinis were fantastic too!

Tasteful decor and great lighting create a intimate atmosphere. Food really good and great to have more than one vegan option. Definitely a great place for couples or groups with a really classy ambience. 100% will go again.

We had an excellent night here. Good food, well decorated and extremely cosy. The menu is fairly small but plenty of variation. High quality and very tasty, especially the duck and thousand layered potatoes.
