The best restaurants serving British food in Market Cambridge East of England

Food choices limited at lunchtime. A few items off menu which makes me wonder how they will cope with dinner service if run out by lunchtime? Service excellent. We are regular customers about once a month. If next visit isn't better we will look elsewhere. A shame as we have been coming since the late 1980s. But its isn't what it was unfortunately...

Wow, very expensive!!!!! Hot Chocolate wasn't very hot, and the buns & cake are very small. Not great value to me if i am being honest

This is a drink review only. No food consumed. Sadly the beer was not great and when we complained it was met with it’s not my problem attitude. The same thing with the spiced rum and coke. The coke was as flat as anything and we had the same response. No offer to change the drinks. Wine was fine. My father in law has been drinking in wilstead for so many years and knows a good pint. Anyway we left the drinks and took a short walk over the road where I’m pleased to say normal service was resumed. I think the wool pack should look at listening to customers who make a genuine complaint and not just dismiss it.

Muy pocos clientes comer y el ambiente es muy tenue. La comida está bien preparada y el servicio es rápido, pero con tan pocos diners no sorprendente.

First class, well kept beer and very good pub food at a reasonable price in a typical old world pub in the back streets of Cambridge.

It was ok. Not to my liking though.

Decent scotch egg. Sunday roast’s meat is alright but everything else on the plate is nice. The famous scotch egg did not disappoint— one of the best I’ve had. Mixed to a more chewy texture but not tough. Prominent sage and other herbs’ flavor. Slightly fatty so half per person is perfect :3 The sweet-tart apple sauce is very refreshing and delightful, though I sometimes forgot to dip in it because of the nicely seasoned egg itself. Roast beef seems overcooked. Only a hint of pinkness. Slightly tough but still tolerable. The beef flavor is good. Yorkshire pudding is fluffy and not greasy at all, though I hope it can be a little more eggy. Veggies are nice— especially the parsnip is cooked to perfect. The gravy is subtle and not overpowering. Fried calamari and prawn is not too heavy and the chili mayo is also lovely even fr a non-mayo person. I don’t drink but really appreciate the beer board with all the information :> The staff is friendly and the place is more spacious than I imagined. I really appreciate the young lady for adjusting our bill to the Sunday 2-course.

Place Is great, food and drinks are amazing, there are tables for big groups. Service is fast also when it's full. I highly recommend it

Nice relaxing visit, with some great beers

Myself & my husband came for a meal for his 5oth birthday. We had the 3 course cheese tasting menu. The starter & main course was each paired with a glass of wine. The food was absolutely delicious & the service was wonderful. Would highly recommend to give it a try. Can't wait to go back.

We really enjoyed the 2h long lunch meal that we had outside by the terrace. We had starters, small plates, mains and desser. The staff was all, very sweet and attentive. The mussels were escepcional good! The best we had in any place in Cambridge, great sauce! Huge fish and chips from the bar menu. 😜
