A surprise little pub serving good food - Thursday pizza night was lovely with tasty pizzas all on offer for £10 each and mine certainly was delicious. Others in our group had burgers, fish'n'chips, etc. and all were pleased with their meals.

When it's sunny ...it's pretty busy as it has a big back garden ....but zero space for just drinking inside....

We normally go the Bridge down the road but decided to try here for once instead. Good food and a nice outdoor area. Friendly staff was nice as well.

Here's a good food location in an otherwise lacking area. Standard pub menu is enhanced by a number of home made Italian dishes which includes several vegan and gluten free dishes. This was most welcome by my wife. Although they don't use a separate wine menu, they suggested a very good, very reasonably priced NZ Sauvignon Blanc. This pub slash restaurant is located in the middle of Waterbeach, a Cambridge City commuter village with easy access to the Cam river and surrounding fens. You can get here easily from Cambridge by train or local bus.

The White Horse is by far the best pub/ restaurant in Waterbeach. The food is absolutely delicious; authentic Italian and reasonably priced too - especially with the weekly deals on pizzas and burgers. The atmosphere is great, the staff are very friendly, and the owner Rita is lovely too. They were able to accommodate a big table at short notice for my partners birthday and booked out a section of the pub specifically for us. The food always comes out really quick. The garden is brilliant for kids too. The pizzas are to die for, burgers delicious and the best lasagne I've ever tried! 😍

Went for Sunday lunch the waitress/bar person was friendly but the roast dinner was only Luke warm.

Sunday lunch was cool, meat tough, veg hard. Atmosphere very poor considering it is Christmas, light bulbs needed replacing, no fairy lights on! Not much Christmas cheer. Could be better.

Second time there and I can say it was a great experience. Pizza was very tasty. Honey glazed halloumi very good. I could taste the smokiness of the honey and the crunchiness of the sesame seeds. Dessert was very good too. Staff very attentive, friendly and perfect timing. Highly recommended.

Just had a drink, as I’d already eaten but my friends have told me the White Horse does good food so I’ll definitely be back soon!! And really impressed how lovely, welcoming and friendly all the pub staff members are, I instantly felt at ease and relaxed, really enjoyed being there, lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait to try the food really soon!!!

Works do, about 10 of us. Friendly and welcoming. Comfy and clean. Good selection of beers and broad selection of food on the menu. Our table had a mixture of burgers, mixed grills and pizza. All served hot and at the same time. The pizza was really, really good. Wonderful base and lovely toppings - I only intended to eat half as it was huge but ended up clearing my plate. Look forward to returning, we're looking to get out more and sort out somewhere for Christmas to. Would happily return with work colleauges or family. Good value to. Zero hesitation in recommending you give this place a visit.

I don’t know what has happen but I usually had lovely food here. The burger was burned and had no lettuce or salad. The carbonara was overcooked and bland. Place was empty and owners seemed unconcerned by customers. Didn’t have many drink selection and no atmosphere. I’ve had nice meals before but not this time. Seems like an empty place and no care. Will not try again as twice now have had the same experience.

It was a week evening and the place was quiet....but still welcoming and the food was good and reasonably priced.

Tipico pub ristorante di una cittadina inglese. Ottima scelta di piatti e buona birra. Servizio perfetto e cordiale. Fuori dalle rotte turistiche, ma se siete a Cambridge pensate di farci un salto. Tra l'altro dà l'occasione di fare un bel trekking: lo possiamo raggiungere camminando lungo il fiume. Certo..un po' lungo, ma si può mangiare e bere senza sentirsi in colpa...si smaltisce al ritorno😃

Per lavoro ero nella zona di Cambridge e per cena ho scoperto questo ristorante Italiano, e come ogni volta che sono all'estero, sono sempre un po scettico, infatti spesso sono gestiti da gente locale o turki o quant'altro, invece mi sono dovuto ricredere, innanzitutto la gestione è Italiana e la prima sera ho assaggiato la pizza e devo dire che era davvero molto buona, a parte qualche ingrediente che di solito in Italia non si usa, ma ci sta. Per cui tutto sommato personalmente consiglio questo ristorante.

Four of us walked in Friday luchtime, not too busy. Staff seemed friendly enough, as we ordered our meals one of us queried what the special Tagliatelle Amatricia was, the response Tagliatelle, tomatoes, garlic and spices. It was ordered, I ordered off the specials, Pan Fried cod, came with chips or mash and veg I picked mash and veg. The table next door had their meal arrive and I heard said to a waiter this is spaghetti not tagliatelle, I didn't hear the response. Our meals arrived, the tagliatelle was spaghetti, a spaghetti bolognese with bacon, thank good the person who ordered wasn't a vegetartian, staff should know what's in a dish. The bowl was cold, no garnish or even slice of garlic bread. My pan fried cod turned up, two tiny pieces of tail end very thin cod, think the pan had been used to thaw it out, skin slimy. Oven chips cremated or reheated and a small pile of greasy onion, pea and pepper, that was the veg! Fish and chips, cremated chips again and a portion of breaded fish, obviously cooked from frozen in the oven! Steak and chips, cremated chips and steak just about ok. It's an Italian, desserts must be good we thought, Profiterols, one still semi frozen, cheesecake more like a mousse on top of a biscuit base. Four awful meals. Do not believe the photo's that appear online nothing like what was served up, wish I had thought to take some photo's

A lovely place to go & bring the family for a nice meal with fantastic staff who are very friendly and helpful. Definitely a 5 star rating from me..

We were feeling a little sorry for ourselves in early December during a cold snap. Our central heating had failed and we were wearing all our winter warm clothes huddled around a single portable gas heater, so we decided to warm ourselves up with a Sunday Roast. Being a Coeliac, gluten free food is absolutely critical to me so we always need to find somewhere that can cater for, and understand the needs of someone on a strict gluten free diet. Thankfully the Whitehorse Pub in Waterbeach fitted the bill perfectly and we were both able to have roast turkey with all the trimmings, including gluten free Yorkshire puddings and gravy - cooked to perfection. In fact the food was so good and the understanding of issues such as cross-contamination in the kitchen was taken seriously, I treated myself to the gluten free Christmas pudding afterwards. The service and atmosphere in the pub were absolutely top notch, and I would have no hesitation in both returning for lunch again in the future and also in recommending the pub for food in future. Total cost as just over £44 for two main courses, one dessert, drinks and coffees. Thanks so much for a great lunch and sorry it has taken a month to write this but we've been travelling...

Terminé hoy en el caballo blanco, ya que todos los demás restaurantes estaban llenos, vagamos por qué este era el único vacío, pero decidí probarlo. Pedí una ensalada de la que me sirvieron con crutones blandos y la ensalada sabía tan poco fresca y tenía moho marrón en él. Cuando le informé al camarero, ella insistió en que no entendía por qué estaba diciendo que no estaba fresca. Lo que me confundió, pedí la sopa de tomate y albahaca que se parecía más a un puré y no se parecía a una sopa que el ambiente es terrible no recomendaría

Fuimos de casualidad pura. Estaba visitando a unos amigos que viven en Waterbeach. Fuimos durante la noche y se sentía cálido y muy acogedor. Disfruté de la apacible y fresco interior de la zona de comedor y nuestro camarero era atento y amable. La comida...

I can't believe this place has any positive reviews! Dreadful at every level. I will admit that I have been fortunate enough to have eaten in some very good restaurants but this was not me being fussy this place was ridiculous. Christmas dinner, costing £60pp for three courses. No Christmas decorationsNo "merry Christmas" or even a warm welcome on arrival. Table for max 4 people was used to seat the 6 of us. I was asked what we would like to drink and I had to ask for a drinks menu and then was stood over while all 6 of us discussed and had to try and choose, feeling rushed. No Christmas music, table decorations or atmosphere whatsoever. The food had to be pre ordered. The starters were fine, pretty average I would say of the level of a Nando's style establishment. So pretty basic. Main was horrible, like a school dinner. Nobody ate it all. The portions were ridiculous, one slice of turkey. Wedges instead of roast potatoes, two carrots. The deserts were also not eaten. The warm chocolate cake was more like a microwaved mug cake that kids make. Like eating cardboard. This wasn't touched and the waitress asked if I enjoyed it, I told her no and that I hadn't touched it as it was horrible. No solution was offered, or an apology made. The price ended up costing the same as when we have eaten at Jamie Oliver's before which is 1000x superior in quality, atmosphere and staff I won't make the mistake again of "staying local" Huge mistake, ruined our Christmas. Looking forward to cooking again now as lots of hungry people. I'm that fed up I'm writing this on Christmas Day!!

Food is good but definitely won't be going here again. I'm sure I can get similar food elsewhere and I'd much rather give my business to somebody who VALUES her customers! I am shocked that somebody who runs a small business like this would actually push her customers away with such awful attitude saying "I'd rather you not come back here again". You'd expect to be welcomed with open arms, especially if you're a regular who comes in a group very frequently. If you doubt my review, please read the ridiculous, nonsensical and laughable management responses to previous customer reviews, and you will see for yourself that you're not valued here.

Sadly my experience with the White Horse sounds as though it mirrors that of previous unhappy customers. I have been dining in this restaurant for many months at their two for one offer for pizza on Monday is great. It has however recently been made very clear that the manager does not value our business and feels that it is acceptable to go out of her way to show us this. I find her attitude is quite frankly appalling and the way that she speaks to customers is incredibly rude. I am local to this pub / restaurant and I cannot knock the food but I vow never to god back purely because of how we have been spoken to by the manger! Such as shame as the my will be loosing business in the long run because of this woman. She needs to lean some manners!

I went with my family to have dinner on a Friday evening. The food choices were good and the food was a little above average. However, the service was lacking. Mari ( I believe that's how you spell it) was great. However, there was a younger woman and another lady who was pregnant (who seemed to be in charge) could care less with us and the other patrons. It seemed Mari was doing all the work which is hard to do when you have other people to service on. Afterwards, my husband and I stayed for cocktails. This was awkward. The younger lady working (if you can say was working) cared more about sitting with her friends and hanging out with them then actually getting up and helping the other staff. It felt like I was at a high school pub. Mari was the only one running around. As a person who works in the industry I would be disappointed with this. However, the next morning I met the owner and he was amazing! I'm sure he would not like to have his business run this way when he's not there. The next morning we had an amazing breakfast and Tim the owner was so accommodating. I wish he was there the night before. Honestly, I thing this doesn't occur a lot, so don't take it against this establishment. I just think when the owners away, the cats can play.

Service provided by the waitresses in the pub come restaurant is superb. The food is of an ok standard, but for me the let down is the way the staff seem to be spoken to. There doesn't appear to be enough staff to cover busy times, and the SHOUTING from the kitchen is a big let down. Couple this with a person "working" (I use this term loosely as they seem more interested in making themselves seem more important than they are) but then getting drunk, it's a little unprofessional.In all this would be a good location if they were a little more professional in the way they worked with their own staff.If I spoke with my team in this way I would probably be punched, or get fired for lack of respect.

great meals, a brilliant play area for young children. suitable for anyone between 0-100!!! I would recommend very highly
