Browns-Cambridge in Cambridge

This was a disappointing meal cooked without love. Yes, a gluten free menu, but the sea bass fillet was small, there was none of the promised horseradish, and the fennel if there was completely tasteless, so it was bland, without the flavours I was looking forward to. Wonderful to have a gf chocolate fondant, the cherries, all 4 of them, were lovely, but the fondant was too cold for the ice cream to melt into a sauce.

We visited Cambridge and at lunch, my daughter and her partner took us to a nice place for lunch. The place was nice and the food was outstanding as much as the service. It was a pleasent atmosphere and enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Really nice restaurant and bar area with a buzzy atmosphere in a Saturday night over Easter weekend. Food was fine … nothing amazing to rave about. Unfortunately, my salt and pepper squid starter was heavily breadcrumbed, dry, tough and not pleasant to eat (so sent it back and asked for Padron Peppers instead - which were way better). My partner’s Burger was standard. My Fish & Chips thankfully was good. (Did me worried after the squid starter). Staff were extremely attentive and friendly. Table position was fine (my seat was facing near the entrance to the restrooms … it was OK as a separate front dining room was in my direct line of sight (would of perferred to be seated elsewhere - was content enough though!)

Went yesterday with my husband for the first time. We only had a drink but the atmosphere inside is amazing and the staff is very polite and helpful. A bit expensive compared to others, but it's absolutely worth it 👌

Food was good and wel presented. The starter with hot bread, butter and olives deserves a 5 Star, remembered of home. Carlos our waiter was amazing, friendly and attentive. Remember a house is made of good and happy staff!

Food options for the brunch are very small. But the host Abbie was amazing.

I have been coming to browns for years now, and I must say it is a go to place! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is incredible, and the servers are superb! Our server today was Abby, and she made us feel so welcome, even going as far as bringing us food that wasn’t even on the menu. Thank you all!!!

Amazing atmosphere and food for our 70th birthday celebrations. We especially liked the live music, and some songs requests that the pianist, Daniel had learned especially for us at such short notice. Patricio our waiter was fantastic and went above and beyond to make our evening extra special!

Markó and his team were amazing! They made our experience outstanding and worry free. It was a well-oiled operation. All staff, especially our server Patricio were extremely attentive, attention to detail was a given. A highlight was most definitely the piano player, Daniel, who made our relative's birthday extra special with his choice of music. We will definitely return and I would highly recommend this establishment for any occasion.

The food & surroundings were superb. They had ran out of the Lobster brunch option which was a bit disappointing. Our server Abbie was fantastic. Would highly recommend Brown's.

I was very disappointed on returning to Browns yesterday with an overseas visitor. We ordered bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start, but when it arrived there was no vinegar and the oil was vegetable oil ('We don't use olive oil as it is no good for frying'). The chicken ceasar salad that followed was completely dominated by 8 large anchovies, the chicken tasted of nothing, and the croutons were torn up bits of toasted sliced bread. When I asked for some more parmesan I recived one teaspoon in a tiny dish.

I had lunch with family on a week day and the food was delicious. The service was slow but that was due to the number of guests. The atmosphere was quite good and welcoming. It is a bit pricy.

Excellent experience, celebrated a 60th birthday with my BFFL. Staff were amazing, curtious efficient. Food was amazing. High recommend a visit. Owners should be proud to have the staff they employ.

The food was very tasty and detailed calories were provided which was convenient. The environment is beautiful, but the bathroom is a bit dirty.

We checked out the new Browns in Cambridge and were seriously impressed! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great—but the highlight of the night was hands down our server, Darren! He was friendly, super attentive, and just really on top of everything. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. Service like that makes all the difference! Huge shoutout to Darren—he made our night! We’ll definitely be back😀

We had a lovely lunch here on Saturday 5th April 2025. The building is lovely and the service was excellent. We were father and daughter and we really liked the server, but we cannot remember her name! She was blonde and cheerful and really responded well to my Dad's favourite activity in restaurants - having banter with the waiting staff! He was very impressed by her and told her she was in the right profession. She had small tattoos on her ear and I think some piercings there, too. All in all, a lovely experience.

All round brilliant place for food. Atmosphere is lovely I particularly enjoyed the piano. Very pleased to be served by polite and gentle staff. Highly recommend!

Went in on a Sunday with my date: the service was spot on - had the chicken schnitzel with chips. Hot drinks were fresh and there was an amazing ambience due to the live piano music. 10/10

The service here is superb!! We have dined off the British Classics set menu which is great value. The dishes are well presented and delicious. I highly recommend Browns Cambridge.

Drinks on arrival were average,Olives and Bread (olives cheap nasty tasting pitted olives) quite disappointing. Risotto for main,dry and nothing like any risotto tasted before, undercooked chicken schnitzel (chicken was cooked however breaded coating was barely beige,should be golden) good service, toilets in need of renovation

Sadly not great this is my second visit to a Browns but never will I go back to Cambridge one. The service was absolutely appalling not just for us but the tables around us, and had the cheek to automatically put a service charage on the bill. The food when eventually came was good but went cold so quickly I assume was waiting for it to leave the kitchen, they had run out of most desserts so we ended up just leaving, Ruined my evening in Cambridge tbh

What a lovely place! Live piano music, great food and lovely, attentive service. Special mention to Momoka who was warm and friendly and a good guide through the options. We’ll be back!

Front of house staff member was extremely rude to another member of staff whilst I was waiting to be seated. He then turned and started welcoming the couple behind and assuming we were altogether. To I had to speak up and say we were first. He was really up his own backside and needs to take a good look at himself. I watched him tell another member of staff for placing a table to an ajoining table. He needs to look at his own customer service skills . If he can't handle a busy mother's day perhaps he should have taken the day off. Didn't catch his name, but certainly heard his voice through my whole meal. Wild curly hair is the description and working front of house.

Disappointing lunch for Mother’s Day/birthday Starter was great but we had a really long wait for mains (30 plus mins) to be served 3 plates that were luke warm. If we hadn’t waited so long they would have been returned. Staff were great with the exception of the guy that greeted and seated us (way too rushed and stressed) What should have been a lovely occasion has unfortunately left a poor memory. We did appreciate not being charged for one meal but did not appreciate service charge of £20 being included for a poor experience.

Our waiter was clearly a smoker and every time he nipped out for a cigarette he smelled of smoke very strongly. Mid week so the restaurant was quiet - food was very good. A bit expensive but very nice.

Had the best time at bottomless brunch the other weekend. Savannah our server was just perfect, excellent people skills and very friendly and attentive. The food and drinks were really well made and the flavours well balanced. Would absolutely return and do this again.

Momoka , Patricio, Savannah, Marko are insanely fantastic hosts. From the moment we stepped in, we knew we were in for a special afternoon. The ambience was exquisite and inviting with the perfect amount of elegance and comfort. The staff greeted us, especially Savannah , couldn't have made us feel any more welcome if they'd tried. The attention to detail was exceptional. No request was too much! If you're looking for an extraordinary dining experience, look no further. 5/5 would absolutely recommend

Perfect place for dinner. Food was delicious with good portion sizes and drinks were great too ( recommend the black forest martini) . The wait staff were faultless, very attentive and professional, happy to swap a couple of items for my partner which made her night. we’ve been here several times but this was the best. Thank you browns for the lovely date night.

Lovely vibe, delicious food, friendly and fast service. Abbie was our server and was wonderful! We will come again.

Very disappointing visit here on Saturday evening with my wife and two friends. Visually the restaurant is beautiful, which is why we booked for the evening. Unfortunately the experience as a whole was very disappointing. Our server could very much use a course in customer service. He was not at all warm, friendly or helpful. When placing our orders, my wife asked for the steak. At which point we’d expect “how would you like that cooked”, but no, we had to suggest this to him. In addition, my wife was asked which sauce she’d like…she asked if she could please have garlic butter (which comes with a different dish on the menu). We were told “no, we can’t do that”! It was only when I suggested that “if there’s a garlic butter option on a different dish, then surely your chef could add it to the steak”. I also ordered the steak. First our starters arrived. The garlic prawns & chorizo were very underwhelming and my wife chicken skewers were fairly cold. The fillet steaks were expensive so we had high hopes… which were soon dashed. The presentation is poor and looked like cheap pub grub. Both our steaks were cold and still very very rare - not what we ordered. We had to send them both back leaving our friends to eat without us. We decided against desert as we just didn’t want to risk another disappointment. When the bill arrived, I asked if the bill reflected the fact that 2 of our meals had to be returned, to which he replied “well what was wrong with them”!! It was him that had taken them back to be recooked. When we explained, his response was, “well you consumed it”. It was quite unbelievable, with the icing on the cake being him saying “well just don’t pay the optional service charge”!!! At this point we asked for the manager, and credit to him, he put things right by reducing our bill (hence 2 stars and not 1). In summary, this place has the potential to be great. Unfortunately the food and waiter service fell along way short of the beautiful interior. We would never return or recommend.

There’s a lot of space inside and out! It is very suitable for parents with children (strollers)~ Abbie’s service is very good~ Seeing that I brought my child here, I have been helping to entertain her~ The dessert is not too sweet and suits my taste~ I will recommend it to friends

An old classic place in Cambs, but a bit long in the tooth now. Nice seats and surroundings, but food just average, verging on mediocre. Server asking to hand over the finished plates is a bit lame, especially at these prices.
