Friendly service and such fresh, super hot, tasty, crispy cod and chips. Halloumi fries and tuna burger also excellent. Excellent local restaurant/take away.

It's a really nice little place for seafood fish quite a nice touch to watch them cooking in front of you it's very back to basics and that gives it quite a nice feel and makes it quite special

Came her after seeing previous reviews (prior to Lockdown one's) and wasn't disappointedI had the Sea Tree Fish Stew and my mother the Rainbow Trout (after a starter of calamari)The calamari was piping hot and even the regular portion was plentiful. Maybe needed a dip to accompany it though.There was plenty of mixed seafood in the stew, and the tomato & red pepper sauce was a great combination,The crusty bread that cam with it soaked up the excess sauce to a tee.The 2 rainbow trout fillets were well presented

We ordered moules frites, a large order for 6.I ordered at 4.30pm for 7pm timed delivery. At 7.30pm, with hangry children I was just putting some pasta on in desperation because they weren't even answering the phone, when the order arrived.The mussels were delicious in a creamy white wine sauce, very good generous portions. Finished the leftovers the following day!The frites were good, slightly soggy probably just because they'd been delivered, and we felt the portions were much smaller than we'd expected.I would definitely go back, and if getting this meal again, order 30 minutes sooner than I would expect a delivery, and get more portions of frites. I felt it was a good value meal for what we got.

Have been to restaurant and had home delivery before. Recent experience will be the last. Delivery was late, and when I enquired as to delay, was told that it was due to weather and road works.....neither which were factors given I live on same road as restaurant and weather was quite clement. When order was delivered it was now cold (an hour and half to deliver to a residence a few hundred meters down the road), and missing items. Despite contacting restaurant to refund or replace items, or just acknowledge the inconvenience, I was ignored, albeit with one smarmy email about the difficult weather conditions aside. Pretty poor customer service and soggy cold fish n chips. Save your time and money and jump in car to the Codfather on Barnwell rd.

We often drive from Ely to eat here as the food is amazing. I ordered some shellfish for xmas eve this year and it was so fresh... absolutely delicous! Thank you!

We adore The Sea Tree. In these long months at home, their delivery has been a godsend. The best of all was their willingness to delivery 20 oysters, shucked and ready to serve, for my husband's 50th birthday. They arrived at exactly the appointed time and the oysters were perfect! Everything we've had them deliver came out just as beautifully as when we eat at the restaurant - seared scallops, fish & chips, you name it. Can't wait to be back there in person again soon, but until then, we'll keep ordering for delivery. Thank you, Sea Tree.

Ordered at the wrong place and the attitude was terrible. It happens regularly but the attitude was arrogant, unfriendly,terrible.

I live locally, so have been a regular satisfied customer of the Sea Tree for many years. I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that they have upped their game over the past few months with the quality of food improved, especially the chips—which couldn’t really be depended on previously, but are now always excellent. The haddock, calamari, and scampi are also very good. Mushy peas could be less salty. Staff are friendly. Great value in pricey Cambridge.

Got blamed for a mistake in ordering from the incorrect shop ,told I could only be refunded before the food was prepared, reminded the catering industry was on its knees and no voucher provided as promised - which still did not cover the full cost of the food. Then given a bogus number for "head office" to discuss my complaint

We ordered delivery, and it arrived nice and hot. They called to confirm our location and the food was great. The gluten free batter was delicious and plenty of chips for all of us

La comida estaba caliente y la masa aún crujiente. Pescado perfectamente cocinado y patatas fritas. La entrega fue muy fácil de ordenar, llegó a tiempo y se entregó sin contacto. El 100% lo recomendaría a cualquiera, muy buena oferta de menú y precios muy razonables.

We ordered online then collected as planned. All went smoothly. The food was delicious and the gluten free option very welcome. Although it's a bit of a drive in for us and there's probably cheaper out there somewhere, the Sea Tree is a real treat.

We go a lot there and we also buy them wet fish. It’s the best fish in Cambridge!! And the menu is simply amazing! Looking forward to hear from them once they have supplies again. Thank you Sea Tree!!! ☺️

I adore this restaurant. We've been popping in on average about twice a month for the past four years, and they're always spot-on with the cooking -- whether it's the mussels & fries (my personal fave), grilled scallops over garden salad (my husband's fave), or the always yummy, never greasy fish & chips. But best of all? Last night we learned that with the Covid-19 restaurant closures they're now delivering! We got our usual -- the mussels & the scallops -- and they arrived perfectly cooked. The mussels weren't piping hot, but how could they be after a 15 minute trip across town? We weren't complaining. Absolutely delicious as always and such a comfort in this bizarre moment in history to have the flavours of our usual lives arrive on the door step -- contact-free, by a driver wearing gloves, no less!

Had a lovely fish stew last night. Tasty & well cooked. My daughter & husband had battered haddock & cod goujons which were also very good.

Mum and I are huge fish fans and we wish there were more places like this in the U.K. It seems like most places are the run of the mill fish and chips or fine dining. This straddles the two. Good quality fish and chips or...things like freshly prepared fillets or what we plumped for fish stew in a casual but tasteful environment. The fish stew was excellent, plenty of beautiful chunks of a variety of fish, shellfish and a beautiful sauce served with crusty bread. At £8 a portion we thought it was a great deal and they also do takeaways (although the container that are provided are not ideal for stew so they probably should think of a more leak proof alternative...in the meantime maybe take your own!)

Un servicio atento y amable y las gambas tigre valen solo 5 estrellas, mi esposa dijo de la salsa que podía bañarse en ella. This place (no pun intended) serves delicious potatoes/chips and battered/fresh fried fish combinations and much more. The atmosphere is relaxed, informal and unpretentious; the service is friendly and I would definitely come back for more. If you're prepared to pay a little bit more for your 'fish and chips' then it's one to try out and this is one seafood restaurant worth visiting with good company.

What I like about The Sea Tree is it specialises in different fish dishes ,as well as Fish and chips .They have vegetarian and vegan food .The cooking is surreal .my one critisiusm is it's to small to cater for a very well established restaurant and it's a long wait .very clean ,staff lovely

walked in there , was confronted by some mad bloke behind the counter who stormed off into the back room when I asked for more salt , I had sausage and chips which was undercooked, honestly some of the chips were raw as was the sausage . I have been to many chippies over the years and I can definitely say that this is the worst EVER , don't even bother

Went there for the first time today and it was a very pleasant surprise! Ordered the mussels, prawns and scallops plus a bottle of wine for two. It was more than enough and the price was quite decent (about 40 quid). The quality of the food is definitely good, fresh ingredients, very well cooked, and the service is 5 stars. Will definitely be coming back here. It really is more than a regular fish and chip shop!

I wanted to give a group of students that had come over the fish and chip experience. having been to the sea tree previously, I knew the food was good but wanted to let the group try. There was 22 of us in total which could make things a little difficult. When we arrived there was some seating free inside and some outside so they all managed to sit down. The staff were really helpful and when other tables became free inside they let us move from outside to in so we could all be more together as a group. The students thought the food was great and the whole experience was good fun.

Hi, We've bought fresh fish here a couple of times now - and it's much fresher than you get in the supermarket - lovely, will definitely be back.

We went to the Sea Tree on a recommendation after hearing they do decent gluten free food. We enjoyed our meal of fish and chips and the service was good to start, however we were left humiliated by the staff. They refused to accept our Northern Irish notes, despite how many times we argued it was legal tender. In front of a full cafe, they told us that the obviously ignorant owner refused to accept it and demanded alternative payment, which we did not have. It's such a shame since we did enjoy our meal but I definitely won't be returning. The irony is Northern Irish sterling is all plastic and harder to forge. Sheer ignorance.

The second time we’ve eaten here. Really lovely staff, very tasty food, the fish was lovely and fresh but a little bit oily and the chips tasted amazing! I can’t wait to go back and try the next thing on the menu.

Here is a chip shop in a secondary area of town, but with a difference. The variety of food on offer ( takeway or limited eat-in) is really good and the fish can be grilled if you don't want batter. The chips are to die for. Since changing hands, the place seems better than before and then it was award-winning, so go there and give it a try. A bit of a trek out of city centre if you're on vacation and are stying centrally, but if you have an inclination for fish and chips, or mussels or scampi then make the effort and go !

I bought a kilo of sashimi grade tuna and salmon from the fish counter for a sushi party I was hosting.

Chips were nice so was the curry sauce and mushy peas. Cod was small and my partner had large haddock which smelt funny and tasted funny so he couldn't eat it. Rang and told the manager and all he could say was we would get our money back for the haddock. Not good enough after waiting 25 mins to collect it. This is why I'm reviewing it as poor.

Wonderful service and wonderful fresh fish. The lobster Thermidor for 2 was the best lobster I'd ever had - although I don't think I shared it very well as it was so nice.

Ring calamari are super yummy, thin batter and the great mix of salt and paper, To day, it is the best calamari in Cambridge even better La pergola in Eversden. Good sea food and reasonable price. Chef Lampross is very attentive and helpful. Recommend!!!

Amazing food, especially the Fish Stew which is highly recommended. Good value for money. Excellent customer service. Friendly, efficient, prefessional and knowledgeable, especially our front of house staff! Nothing was too much bother, and not intrusive. Definitely worth a visit.

Lo hemos intentado varias veces, pero no es tan bueno como cuando se abrió por primera vez. Es posible que haya cambiado de manos. El servicio del hombre y la mujer en la caja era tan horrible, miserable, que no sonreía, que no me molestaba la actitud y que hice mi mejor esfuerzo con mis sonrisas. El contraste con el alegre chef, que, después de todo, tiene la parte más difícil detrás de esa área de cocina caliente. The Viking On Milton Road sigue siendo el mejor.

El Sea Tree es nuestro chippy local, y como fanático de los peces, no es que disfrutemos de esta familia. Queremos amar este lugar. Pero después de persistir con aproximadamente 4 visitas en los últimos 6 meses, finalmente nos hemos rendido. El servicio es lento, en el momento ha sido desdeñoso, y luego, cuando llega la comida, es decepcionante. Sí, el pescado es fresco y bien cocinado, pero las patatas fritas son decepcionantes, y las porciones promedio para el precio. Simplemente no estamos dispuestos a esperar hasta 25 minutos por el TAKEAWAY fish and chip. Francamente, prefiero comer otra cosa y guardar la golosina para un lugar en el que va a estar a la altura de las expectativas.

Had a family dinner and it was very average. I had the salt and pepper calamari which was soft but tasteless as well as battered haloumi salad which was so oily that I couldn’t eat it. My children had fish stew and cod and chips which was ok (but again too oily). The deep fried mars bar dessert was way too oily and not edible. The meal cost nearly £100 with tip and I can’t say we’ll be returning. We did not complain as they were busy.

This place had a refurb a few months back and it has improved 10 fold! The chips are the best you can find in Cambridge, if not anywhere and the owner sources them from the best potato farms depending on the time of year. The fish is great too and portion sizes are great. Really cannot fault this place. If you're looking for a good quality chippy, this is for you!

It used to be a good fish and chips couple of years ago. However, very small potions. Watch out for the size of the large fish... undersized for sure. My hubbie was furious so went back to return it! Dont waste your money and buy a decent size potions somewhere else! we will not be going back !

The Sea Tree portrays itself as an 'alternative fish bar'. Having been taken there to eat by friends I was expecting something special, it was actually quite disappointing. Granted there are some unusual options on the menu that probably appeal to some folk but my wife and I both ordered the traditional cod and chips. After ordering there was a bit of a wait but only to be expected as they cook to order. Our meals arrived, the fish was rather small and coated in a very thin batter and the fish inside was only just about cooked. The chips were very odd, I’ve never had dry chips before, I won’t be having them again!

I enjoyed the fish and chips--very fresh and tasty. It could've used some tartar sauce, which I will ask for next time. For any Americans visiting, remember that the fish has its skin on the bottom still!

The absolute BEST fish and chips we’ve ever tasted. Really surprised at some of the reviews as they were fantastic. Light batter, not dripping in fat. We were visiting and we gave it a score of 12/10. Go and buy you’ll not be disappointed.

Bon fish and chips, large choix de poissons et préparés sous nos yeux. Bon rapport qualité prix. Ne pas y aller si vous faites un régime. Mais services laissant n peu à désirer. Ils ont oublié la sauce, n'ouvre pas nos bouteilles de bières. On doit faire un peu soi-même. Mais bien placé dans une rue dynamique...

This sis supposed to be a “luxury” fish and chip shop, so I popped in for a snack and just asked for chips and curry sauce. The curry sauce was runny, but was just about edible. The first serving of chips was cold, stale, and dry, but at least they exchanged them without argument. The top layer of the new exchanged portion were fresher, but they’d simply covered over another portion of stale chips below. Very disappointing, and they obviously have no pride in their food.

A few years ago we used to go here regularly so we stuck with sea teee for a while before giving up but we’ve now given up.

the staff were very rude and unpolilte and bland things on new staff.it used to be my fav and then we went again and it changed to a mucky atmosphere,disgusting food and cold tea! I wouldn’t recommend sea tree at all

We have been coming to the Sea Tree for years and its always been good. Last Tuesday it was so, so bad. The chips were barely cooked through, and were almost rubbery. Totally inedible. They had barely been introduced to the oil. They were so disgusting that I had to get in the car and drive to the Codfather to get replacements. Takeaway dinner ruined.

I don`t know what happened this summer with The Sea Tree but my experience here was terrible. They use to have amazing and tasty food, big portions, amazing staff, chef and service. After the management changed.. is discussing. That place is not cleaned any more as it was... it was full of flies. The flies were sitting on the fish with no one trying to kill, stop them. The food comparing to last summer is a joke, a bad one! Where are the specials, were is that lovely Paella, where is your pasta where is the TASTE in your FOOD. Everything changed... but not in a good way. I am not happy to say but... i give you guys 1 or 2 more months on Mill Road. Change the management... change the chefs ASAP... before is to late. I used to love it...but now i will not recommend it to anyone it`s a shame.

Ate here on a whim on Saturday 23rd June having driven about 12 miles after getting a hankering for proper seafood/fish and chips and realising Royston (where I live) doesn't have anything to cater to that.

Yo vivo al lado de la carretera y han venido aquí muchas veces (y lo nuevo! ). Mejor pescado para llevar y patatas fritas que he tenido. Incluso mejor es su alternativa opciones de comida como calamares y lubina. Cenar en su menú también es precioso. Todo lo que le falta es una salchicha maltratadas!

Teníamos el almuerzo del viernes y fue encantador, aunque se puede ver desde las imágenes que a menudo hay más variedad, escuché a la señora decir que estaban haciendo un nuevo menú. De todos modos lo que teníamos era divino y muy bien preparado, me encantaría cada semana.

Eh non c'è che dire: il Sea Tree è sempre il Sea Tree! Per me sicuramente il miglior Fish & Chips di Cambridge.... ma forse azzarderei il #1 in UK e ho detto tutto! Location anonima, cibo da asporto, ma soprattutto seafood di grande qualità fresco e fritto al momento, con il famoso Fish Pie qui davvero imbattibile. Da provare anche il mitico Cod large fritto con Chips e salsa tartara ed anche l'ottima l'insalata con le capesante. Un po' di pizza di fritto sugli abiti quando si esce ma ne vale la pensa considerando anche i prezzi modici. You can't miss it

I still recommend the fish stew; & saute calamari with garlic & parsley. The others enjoyed the tuna burger & the freshly fried fish & chips. Its reasonably priced compared to Cambridge restaurants. Plse note its a fish bar- fish & chips place. Service is quick. a good place to go if you want nice food & do not have much time.

Watery fish, with not much taste to it at all. Chips were very poor. Not crispy at all. More like oven chips.
