Great selection of beers, although they are definitely more expensive than I was expecting. Delicious chips but I was hoping for more from the chicken wings. Sadly they had run out of scotch eggs and sausage rolls.

The entire experience at the Pint Shop felt like a warm embrace of holiday cheer. Every element of the meal, from the expertly prepared turkey to the signature Christmas pudding, evoked the essence of the season. It was a reminder of why traditional dishes hold such a special place in our hearts during this time of year. Whether you’re a fan of classic Christmas fare or simply enjoy good food, this lunch was a delightful celebration of all things festive.

I was interviewed for a job in this building 43 years ago so it seemed right to go back and have a pint here! Busy Saturday night but we were seated straightaway upstairs. Food is great and we especially liked our minced beef pies, very definitely made in the premises. The croquettes and mackerel pate starters equally good. Particularly impressed by JJ who looked after us and made sure everything ran smoothly, this guy will go far.

Set over three floors. Downstairs is set up well with a bar, and a big selection of real ales. The restaurant was particularly uncomfortable with old wooden small chairs. Service was fast and efficient. Sadly the food was over cooked with the pork being a very small plate for a main meal. We expected more , with 4 drinks and 4 mains coming to £120, better seating and quality food would make the experience more enjoyable. Sadly we wouldn't return. To note, booking is advised. It's also very busy, and very cramped.

Such a fantastic selection of beers and very good pub food although the menu was a little misleading on a couple of things we ordered (expecting Sri Lankan chicken wings, got deep fried KFC style chicken?). Always liked the Pint Shop, but it’s not what it used to be. Serving staff were great, but food took an eternity to arrive. We had a standard fish and chips. The fish was really thin and the batter was soggy - really basic obvious errors - the food shouldn’t have left the kitchen in that state.

A cozy gastropub with a varied menu. As for the starters; the BBQ Pizzetta was yummy and baked well. The charcuterie board was generous and the addition of pork scratchings was unique. The Jalapeno Chicken Thigh Kebab was fresh and tasteful, I would certainly recommend it. Finally the churros were crispy and the sauce wasn’t too sweet. My only criticism would be that there was far too much chocolate dip for the amount of churros. Efficient and friendly staff, would happily go again.

Really hate to do this as I love the Pint Shop usually but…. I would recommend to avoid their lunch menu and sit and eat in the bar area from the board. I ordered the local sausage which turned up as 1 sausage on a bed of courgettes with a brown juice (not jus, liquid running around the plate). That cost £15!

Was really looking forward to returning here as have been a few times before. Went to the Birmingham one before it closed...but if things don't change here and if the don't start listening to their customers...the Cambridge branch could go the same way as the Birmingham one. First pint we were served was off...we said it was off and the server said they would check with the bar. It was definitely off. The server returned and said to choose another one and that we wouldn't be charged for the off pint.....this was not true...we were charged on our final bill which I challenged. We both ordered main courses...chicken Kyiv and the meat pie of the week. When it arrived...it took some time...the pie was small as was the mash serving (£18.50)...it would have been good to have had some greens. The chicken caesar Kyiv (for £22) had just a piece of dressed lettuce on top....no side...nothing...when my husband ordered it he wasn't prompted/upsold/informed that there would be no carbohydrate with it. It was very poor value for money. The server did bring a side of chips (on the house) when we pointed this out. The whole experience, see above re bill cost £50.00...poor value for money. We were so looking forward to returning to the Pint Shop but unfortunately it has changed for the worst. We did speak to the manager after we had paid to point out the above re our experience. He did say that the chicken used to be served with chips... The Pint Shop, Cambridge needs to act on customer reviews on here and other review sites and verbal feedback. It could be so good...and was so good...but it was a Saturday evening and was fairly empty...if it isn't careful, it could go the same way as the Birmingham bar/restaurant.

We’ve been here a couple of times for a drink and really like it. Great selection of craft beers etc, nice outside area at the back. We thought we’d try Sunday lunch as it had good reviews and unfortunately it was extremely disappointing. I had the beef and my fiancé had the belly pork. The belly pork was okay but very soggy and pale looking with a tiny slice of stuffing. We overheard that the seasonal veg was greens and courgette but we just got sliced cabbage. A table next to us also got carrots on their roast but we’d finished by this time so couldn’t ask for them. The Yorkshire pudding was nice if not a bit small and the roast potatoes were very solid and dry as if they’d been sat out. The gravy was very pale and watery and there wasn’t very much of it. The most disappointing thing was the beef which while pink was so tough and chewy it was inedible (and I’m really not fussy about this usually). I left it and would have said something had the staff asked. (They did ask very early in the meal how things were but we had barely started eating at the time so just said okay). Maybe we just got a bad day but it was such a shame as we were looking forward to it and at £22 it’s an expensive roast for Cambridge. The staff were good and I don’t usually complain but a roast isn’t that complicated and it was probably the worst I’ve had.

Went for a Sunday roast & was extremely disappointed. The food cost us £44 and the beef had massive amounts of fat and a chewy, rubbery texture. The gravy had a strong vinegar taste and ruined the entire meal. Bar staff member didn’t know what time they closed, and overall was extremely underwhelming. The manager hasn’t even tried the food himself which I thought was concerning considering this is a large selling point for the business. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place as the food is very overpriced and ruined my girlfriends bday evening meal. I was offered half the price for the bill back and not a full refund for our meal. Subsequently we went elsewhere and will not be in any hurry to return here for food.

Been going here for years but in the last year, the food quality and service have both really gone downhill. The last 3 visits all had significant issues with both the length of time to receive meals (over an hour in 2 cases) and the accuracy of the food delivered (missing or wrong items, items incorrectly cooked). In all cases, it wasn't even very busy and there appeared to be plenty of staff working. A case in point is their steaks which they promote heavily - steer clear! After several tries, it is clear they have no idea how to correctly cook one, either under- or over-cooking by at least one grade each time (e.g. the last one was requested medium but came well done, a previous one was requested medium-rare but came blue). Given the high quality of meat they use (Malloys) and the high prices they charge for this (ribeye is currently £40) this is very frustrating. After so many issues recently, our meal there this week was the 'last chance saloon' for the Pint Shop & they failed again - we won't be going back.

MORE AT OpenTable

A nice and quiet place with a huge selection of beers and pleasant bar staff, they do have food but we didn't eat in there

New ownership has rapidly improved the service and atmosphere. No food yet, but crisps are lovely

Good pub food and friendly service. They kindly allowed us to bring all of our bikes through & gave us a heated room out the back which was ideal for us as a big group - wouldn't want to be out there otherwise as it's very separate from the proper pub
