The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Packed, had to wait for a table but not too long. Took my mum for a look at the Christmas decorations then for a snack and hot chocolate. A small wait for food, but considering the place was constantly packed and people waiting for tables. It wasn’t too long, they did mix our order up, we’d asked for regular drinks but were charged and give large. We just had desserts which tasted great, would definitely go back, it’s seems have greatly improved since last years visit.

I went this evening with family for my daughter’s 17th birthday meal. Food was fab. Our waiter Kye has got to be the loveliest waiter ever! He got everything 100% correct, he was charming, polite, funny and was just totally awesome! I told the manager this when we left, so I hope he passed on my compliments to Kye.

Found so many bones in my fish that couldn’t eat anymore of it . Batter was raw. Never going again . The chip were okay ish and the staff were nice

Hello Mr Ramz ,yesterday had two chicken Shish -Chips -Two Cokes -as we don’t live in the area -had not been there for 3 years — has new shop front but we found it . Food was lovely nice and fresh and Piping Hot .Only Thing I Missed Was they don’t do hot Drinks now use to love their Hot Mugs of Tea for the Winter with your sit Down Food . Loved the piping hot Bread nice Portions of Food .👍 up from us . Thankyou

Had Fish and Chips for lunch , was really disappointed the meal was cooked ok but I have never had such a small portion of fish in my life . My son in law said I have seen more fish in a fish finger and he was right . I was hungury and eat the meal hoping that should the waiter enquire if everything was ok I could show him my concern . He never showed up , when he came to collect the plate I told him I never complain but in this case was very disappointed with the fish portion size . He said he would tell the kitchen staff and that was that we left . Just a warning avoid food at this pub .

Visited the toilets while I was there shopping. They smelled heavily of urine and looked unclean. I’ve been in cleaner festival loos! An increasing problem with stores that insist women share with men. I’m done with this shop

I booked my wife’s 60th birthday party here, two months before they cancelled all bookings and keep all the deposits. Please do NOT book this place they ruined birthday party’s and weddings

massive queue ................no saucers !!!!!!!!!!...................tea and scones with a round cup and no saucer .................basic and below standard .....dirty un cleared tables floor filthy

Fancied a roast, I had beef, hubby had gammon, we had it delivered and it did take an hour and a half to arrive, but it was piping hot, great amount of tender meat, veg were nice, carrot and green beans, peas and gravy, there were lots of roast potato's, I would prefer some mash or new potatoes and less toasties but these are just my thoughts. We did enjoy it, so all good.

We were at the Vauxhall Holiday Park for the HRH (Hard Rock Hell) Prog 14 music festival. With the music days ending very late, we only got to the restaurant just in time for breakfast, even though they serve it up to 11:30! We both had a full English breakfast with coffee, and it was a tasty, substantial fry-up- just what we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Darcy and Mimsey, who were only too happy to talk to us and answer any questions we had. Recommended.

Words can not describe the poor customer service at Stratton House. This venue has gone completely downhill and is the last place on earth that i would return to or recommend. Staff were rude, arrogant and extremely disorganised. In fact they were the rudest staff I have experienced. Food was cold and tasteless.

Oh boy, what an institution. The best fish and chips that I still remember from going to Southend in the 60's aged about 9 or 10 with my parents, I'm in my 60's now ! Though that was the original Bailey's fare. Went again quite recently, to find business had been sold. The food is still very good, but not as good as with the original owners.

Taken over, Wyevale no longer in operation, so bonus points not relevant! Dobbies provide a similar service, several of the staff still work here

Good meal,friendly service not bad price for that food. My children really look forward to get in there desserts. Highly recommend for families.
