We eat here most weeks either for breakfast or lunch (sometimes both!!) and I can honestly say you will hard pushed to find better. The staff are fantastic, friendly, efficient and nothing is too much bother for them. If asked they will adapt the meals to your preference without any complaints. The fish and chips is still the best in Clacton, fish is juicy with lovely crispy batter and no grease, chips are the same. I can not praise the staff or cafe highly enough.

The toilets here are still absolutely filthy. There appears to be weeks of built up grime and stains on all of the toilets/seats that hasn't just appeared over the last couple of days or so. Deep clean is very much needed.

Great battered sausage but the chips in the chip roll were awful, rock hard, dry & tasted funny, not going back there again 😬

This used to be a very nice traditional pub, with a good menu - what a difference a year makes! Bar moved, decorated in dull blue colour making the place look drab & uninviting. Barely anything on the menu bar fish & chips! Only 4 other diners in the place & like us were driven out due to thumping drum & bass music --- is that necessary at lunchtime?!? Won't be going back anytime soon.

Excellent fish and chips in the bar with my dog (who rated the chips). Tartare sauce particularly good. They offer 2 sizes. Mine was small and more than enough.

We came with 3yo for Easter Breakfest Egg hunting. Lovely atmosphere, the staff very friendly and helpful, a lot of activities for the little ones, including pictures with Bonny the Bunny. We were supposed to stay for an hour and changed our plans as the kids had great time. The place is lovely, rustic interior, a lot of space and beautiful river view with birds singing nearby. The breakfast was very nice, we will definitely come back to try the mains.

Such a shame Harvester is closing, but I’m very glad the team will be back when the place reopens as Miller & Carter. And what a brilliant team it is! Everyone welcomes us warmly and goes to great lengths to ensure we have an excellent visit. The food is always great and the service is spot on - not in your face but there’s always someone there when you need them. Really looking forward to being able to go back in May.

I visited recently and ordered a jug of mocktail for £5.99. On my first jug, I noticed it had nearly half the jug filled with ice. So when I ordered the second one, I asked for it without ice—but then the jug came noticeably underfilled. When I asked about it, the staff told me it would be less without ice, but I don’t think that’s fair. I only asked for no ice because the first one had so much of it. If I’m paying for a full jug, I expect the full amount of drink, regardless of whether I want ice or not. The mocktail itself tasted good, but the portion and the explanation were disappointing. Hopefully in the future, they serve the proper amount of drink and don’t use ice to make up the volume.

i visited having not been for a while and enjoyed my drinks. Just over a week later I received a parking charge for £75 from Euro car parks stating I had parked for two hours. I was not aware I had to pay to park and no member of staff or signage made it clear I revisited one week later and tried to speak to the Duty Manager. I explained I worked for a retailer with Euro car parks and as I made a genuine mistake, had proof of purchases my car park fine could be cancelled. The Duty Manager would not even speak to me and shrugged his shoulders and walked off. I was then told to contact Wetherspoons head office. Which I did and they told me it was my fault they could do nothing which I know is not true. Clearly Eurocar parks work with Wetherspoons as you can read online of other pubs operating the same system and cancelling fines that are genuine. Not The Elm though! As a genuine customer I made a mistake Wetherspoons and yet look how many other customers have done the same in your reviews of your pub. Listen to your customers and do something about your system of parking. It’s not clear, your Management aren’t trained and you will lose many customers this way. Brand damaging !!

Set in a great position the pub has a selection of standard pub meals/snacks at reasoble prices and a good selection of drinks. The staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived at a busy time and were told there was a 30 minute wait for food before we ordered which was fine. This wasn't our first visit and won't be our last.

Really fed up. Can't count how many times I've had to get up whilst eating when discovered food items missing from plate! Today is no exception. Halloimi wrap. No sweet chilli sauce inside wrap. It gets sent up & down whilst open to elements. Comes back with sauce but now the salad gone! Back again. Chips & wrap now cold and unappetising. Now 20 mins later got a new one but no salad. Arghhh!! Relaxed NO!!!!
