Neptunes Fish bar in Southend-on-Sea

This is my regular go to for the best fresh fish and chips! The staff are great the restaurant is clean and spacious it is 100% a must to go to. Eating outside is available too! Sea views what more can you ask for!

Tiny portions. Rotten potatoe. 27 pound for 6 very small portions, see attached. Don't waste your money, loads to choose from. Horrible chips

Neptunes was empty bank holiday which is unusual only 4 tables. Sat down looked at the menu ready to order, got ignored by 2 young female staff members for over 10-15 minutes to order. The blonde was checking herself out in her mirror and once the red head finished cleaning tables she went to have a chat with the other girl working. Had to get up and ask if we had to order by the till, only then did one take my order. Thoughout the meal the red head kept looking over giving dirty looks and laughing with the blonde, they were then laughing and talking about another customer who was oblivious. Red heads uniform was dirty random dirty marks all over. Blue plaster over an eyebrow piercing but fake eyelashes all round. All toilets were dirty men and womens, no soap, toilet paper everywhere. No one was bothered. Disappointed all round, always eat in Neptunes have done for years with all the family. Doubt I will be going back......

Very poor fish, it had been in the counter for some time and was only just warm when served. Worst seaside fish and chips shop I have been to in 30 years

Best fish & chips I've had in a very long time. Great service. Food was piping hot & very well presented. & Tasted perfectly fresh. Would highly recommend.

Great food, can't complain. Staff ok but don't say much, i know its a chip shop but theres no atmosphere. They all seem to hide or chat to each other. Basically eat, leave, job done.

Found so many bones in my fish that couldn’t eat anymore of it . Batter was raw. Never going again . The chip were okay ish and the staff were nice

We come here every year . We visited last night . Food was lovely . Staff welcoming . We got our food quite quickly . There was 11 of us yesterday and every meal was tasty . Fish was dripping with all like some places , see you all soon , thank you

Unfortunately gone downhill!! Food prices have increased immensely. Food was just ok, portion size a little on the small size. The toilets were absolutely disgusting!! Clearly not been cleaned in a very long time. Grime round the taps, floor and the hand rail going up was gross!! We won’t be back which is a shame as we used to go here all the time.

Unfortunately not the best of food sorry folks, understand the menu states fish may contain bones but blimey it was definitely not filleted properly.

Very good food, decent prices, nice dining space outside. Friendly engaging crew. I've been before and I'd go again, definitely recommend.

The service was rather slow and the servers looked like they didn’t want to make the effort,considering it wasn’t busy we waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken. I ordered cod, chips and peas. The batter was so thick it was soft inside and I was unsure what the fish was and wondered if it had been sliced extra thin because there wasn’t much there when you got through the batter. For any future customers I hope this was a one off, it sure is for me. I know where I’ll be returning for my next fish and chips meal where the batter is always perfect and the fish is big and flaky.

Reliable and good quality fish and chips, All as it should be. Good service and very good value for money.
