Lovely pub inside and out. The decor is nice, the outside areas are lovely and have some play equipment. The pub is family and dog friendly. Service was quick and polite. Definitely would return if I was in the area again and I thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely spot for a catch up with friends and a bash at the pub quiz. Attended early so we could eat before the event and enjoyed the beef and ale pie which was huge. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Look forward to going back.

Pleasant service and delicious food with a short wait and served together. We will definitely come back and would recommend to anyone else.

Food was extremely poor. We had roasts each, I had mushroom and ale pie (which despite it being in the roast category, was not remotely a roast and did not include any roast ingredients) and my boyfriend has beef roast- beef was dry and chewy, Yorkshire's were burnt and the gravy was basically just beef stock. I ordered a strawberry woowoo which was supposed to contain Malibu but was given a concoction which just tasted like archers and strawberry (archers wasn't even supposed to be an ingredient.) We didn't finish our meal because we genuinely just didn't want to, and we both aren't exactly fussy. Absolute waste of £35 meal. Seeeeriously poor.

Frozen roast potatoes, rock hard broccoli, two thin strips of chewy beef, the lamb shank a bit better. Cold stuffing and tiny bit of gravy. Spoke to the waitress about the tiny portion, said the chef said that's about right for the meat. Supposed to have been pink, no pink at all, just rubbish over cooked, microwaved rubbish. Said to the waitress I'd give a rubbish review, just walked off. Not the usual standard of Greene King. Total disappointment. Better off in a cheap cafe!! Will never return here. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere!! Disgraceful

Lovely meal, good quality and fairly priced. Staff were fabulous.

Been going for ride outs to this pub for dinner for a few years and always been good but after tonight we won't be coming back in a hurry . Service was poor and food times were slow ( over an hour ) and the staff ignored allergies when taking the order . when we asked how long the food would be the waiter said he would go find out and didn't come back , after 45 minutes my partner went in and asked and was told we should of been told food had a 20 minute wait what would of been OK if we had been told that and it not of been 45 minutesby that point . When the food did eventually come out it came 1 dish at a time with enough of a wait between them each person was able to eat there dinner before the next one had came out even known we all ordered together. When my partners food came out she quickly noticed they had ignored that I told them about her allergies. By this point we had had enough and left . Over all in the past this pub has been good but tonight the service was poor , slow and 4 out of 5 of us did not enjoy the food .

Went there's to day Sunday 18 August For the Sunday roast lunch as all way it was fantastic lovely. I have to say that my wife and I enjoyed it very much, will definitely be going back very soon, thanks to all the staff looking after us

I used to come here a lot and it would always be fantastic when I came. Today , I was a bit disappointed. We were advised before ordering they were busy so there was no table service which was absolutely fine but walking through the restaurant to get drinks there was about two tables of people it wasn’t busy at all. We ordered starters that were quite easy to make but they came out one hour later . After walking our plates to the bar the main did come out shortly after and it tasted ok but not something I’d order again. Overall wasn’t worth the wait today :(

My husband and I took my uncle and aunt out for lunch yesterday and were treated to a really good meal in a great atmosphere by extremely friendly and helpful staff. Our cockapoo George was also made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed his dog ice cream, and of course all the fuss he received. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to Southend to take the family out again.

We had a large party for a birthday lunch and were truly looked after. Great service, food delicious (I tried several dishes!) - staff were so friendly it made our birthday event extra special. Thank you to everyone who was working so hard both front of house and behind the scenes. Truly appreciated.

The food was wonderful, customer service was extremely good. I had lamb shank, the meat just fell off the bone and the gravy delicious! I havent had a meal like that in a pub restaurant for a long time. I was in a group and we all had different meals but we all commented on how good the food was. We all enjoyed our meals and the lovely latmosphere and had a really pleasant evening x

I hadn't been to The Rose Inn for over 20 years so decided to give it a try for dinner. Service was faultless and dinner couldn't be faulted. We will be returning.

Foods great but management is a joke, general manager would rather talk to customers on busy day than help them on the bar it's self (from the way he talks to customers about the staff it's clear there's no respect there) , watching him eventually pull a pint was a joke should have had a flake with it. I think it's safe to say I will not be returning any time soon.

We really enjoyed ourselves at the Rose Inn watching the Euro Football this year. Staff, service and food is always good. The staff work so hard. The pub can suddenly get busy and sadly on this occasion only one member of staff was scheduled to work. I witnessed two people leaving because they had to wait, even though the member of staff was run ragged serving drinks and food. It's a such a shame that some people then leave this lovely pub due to the lack of staff on odd occasions.

Rob and team are great. Lovely pub, well run and friendly. Clean, good selection of beers and food on menu. Highly recommended.

The boys took a bike ride, whilst I took a drive down to the Rose Inn. A place I have visited and loved previously, as they are dog friendly. It was a gloriously sunny day, so we sat outside (meaning we didn't need to chain the bikes up too). Ordered some nachos to share, and we waited so long I went back in to enquire if there was an issue. They said they were coming soon. I still had quite a wait after. I believe they were really short staffed- this is not something I had seen before there, but it was disappointing. The nachos were great however, nice big crisps and generous on the toppings. Hopefully next time they have more staff in.

The Katsu Curry is to die for! Staff very friendly. Love The Rose Inn. Only criticism, and it is a big one, the toilets are awful!!!

Gold Pub Pie award, Greene King IPA, lovely staff and a great manager, Rob, who adds so much to the experience. Epic beef and Ale pies, great menu, plenty of parking and dog friendly too. What’s not to like? 10/10 if you like a nice country pub. Can thoroughly recommend

Visited here for the first time as staying in the area for the weekend. Upon approaching the pub it has a fragrant aroma of flowers. The pub itself is specious, homely, clean and has friendly staff. The food was fresh and hot. We will definatly come back and recommend 😀

We have been coming to this pub on and off for quite a few years. We come most Tuesday's to take part in the pub quiz run by Steve and his lovely wife Nancy. It is always a great fun evening , and I think everybody appreciates the work put in by the two of them to give us all a great evening. There are always lots of familiar faces as well as new ones. It is an incredibly friendly pub. Sometimes we have an evening meal and the food is mostly pretty good. All the bar staff are very friendly, so it is always an enjoyable evening out!

Driven past the rose plenty of times, finally booked a table, it was very quiet(Monday) it’s a lovely pub with a great garden, had our food there , sun was shining couldn’t ask for more, the 2 young ladies were very helpful and easy to chat to and the food was great, Definitely returning soon.

I attended yesterday (fathers day) with my family and had a great time . The staff where very friendly and polite and the food was amazing . We go often and in the past have had a few hiccups but recently i can't complain . The manager goes above and beyond to make sure everything is ok for you . Will definitely be returning

The family used the Rose Inn for our dear Fathers funeral wake. From popping in to discuss the possibility and food options to the actual day, the staff were so very helpful and kind. The food buffet was AMAZING and exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the chef, manager and all staff on the day.

My friend and I visited the Rose inn for lunch this week, we were very impressed with the friendly staff and warm atmosphere. We ordered our food (so much choice) from the senior menu. The food came out quickly, hot and delicious. We will definitely return.

Not good at all, one bar person, who decided to clear the tables, leaving people waiting at the bar 6 of whom left including me, and food was being sent back as it was being served up cold. Easy answer get more staff.

What a truly lovely surprise. I hadn't been to this pub for many years and today I enjoyed an afternoon in the garden with my friends. The team were polite and helpful, the food was amazing value (especially for the senior members of our gang) - I would highly recommend going along, we'll definitely be returning regularly 😀

Very poor experience. Roast dinner was made up of everything frozen, except maybe the Yorkshire and was pretty much thrown at us. Would not eat there again, but garden is lovely for a drink on a sunny day.

Took an hour and a half for the vegan balls we ordered everyone was being served before us, bad customer service no apologies just rudeness from the bar staff

A lovely setting for afternoon tea! We had an amazing selection of sandwiches, cakes and cream teas, which I would totally recommend to any afternoon tea lover!

We stopped here on our 14th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. We were just driving to find a nice little pub to have a nice lunch. Walked in and it is a gorgeous little pub. Took a seat and the staff were lovely. We had no idea if we were supposed to take a seat or wait to be seated so my husband asked and the lovely man behind the bar let us order at the bar (even though I think we sat where it’s table service, the snug, sorry) the food was absolutely beautiful. The staff were very welcoming and we had a lovely time for our anniversary. We will definitely be back.

Popped in at lunchtime for a coffee and something small to eat. Lots of choice. Lots of menus! Brunch menu, light bite menu, senior menu and one or two others I think. Slightly confusing. We chose from the Senior menu, 2 courses £7.50 if I recall correctly. Well cooked food, served hot, nicely presented, we were happy with our dishes. Tomato soup, thick and full of flavour served with very nice, warm foccacia bread, macaroni cheese, a hunters chicken, all very nice. An enjoyable lunch, thank you.

We went for an evening meal with a deal from groupon. We had booked a table at the walnut tree which is a Geeneking establishment also. We had booked and made sure they accepted groupon. Only to be told they didn’t do it anymore and we couldn’t speak to the manager. So we went to the Rose Inn who were very welcoming. The manager apologised on behalf of greeneking and gave our friends a bottle of wine for compensation. Great food, reasonable prices and great atmosphere. My dad used to take me here as a child (I remember the indoor play area and ball pit!) and although I know the place has changed hands a few times, it continues to be one of my favourite pubs to visit.

The food had great flavour in it, and when I asked for a slight variation there was a smile and a "no problem at all". The beer garden an overarching walk through was beautiful. Would have liked to have seen a few more ales, but the selection offered was fine. Would I go there again...yes definitely.

This pub has got a lot of character & the staff are pleasant. However, there is something going a bit wrong currently. Long waits for drinks and I witnessed clearly, for food as well. This place desperately needs more staff, and in this regard compares unfavourably with The Old Walnut Tree, another Greene King pub only a mile or two away.

Booked for Sunday lunch, staff obviously busy, didn’t get seen after sitting down at table, had to find someone to ask a question, long queue at bar, 1 hour 15 min wait on food so we left. Would have been good to have known about the wait before we sat down with menus.

This was a rebook as the first time I had to cancel. We being my partner and my sister, we were really looking forward to our dinner at the Rose Inn but it was not to be. We arrived early so had a glass of wine in the garden. When we went in we had to get in line to be shown our table, which I had reserved. Upon seating no information was given to us about how food etc was ordered, so we spent some time deciding our order, naively we waited for our order to be taken. I then went to the bar to ask how our order would be taken to be told it would be at least an hour wait for food. I explained that I had pre booked my table expecting a reasonable response but no it was the same reply, it would be at least an hour wait for our food. I had previously seen another customer leave because of the waiting time. The attitude of the waitress was I can only say not the most helpful or courteous. Would I return no. Would I recommend this place no Just a complete let down. And as for the price of two wines and a coke hardly any change from £20.00. I don’t really write bad reviews but felt I had no choice on this occasion. Ps over the last few weeks I have had numerous amount of emails from this company but since walking out on Saturday I have received not one I think that says it all.

We took the family here for a spot of lunch today. How have we never been here before?! Food was amazing - hot and fresh - and the staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back soon.

Ordered two latte's, no saucer's was given, had to ask for sugar and spoons, went outside to drink them as it was a sunny day, both was cold, went back in amd spoke to the girl who served us saying that they are cold, she said oh are they and walked off, and that was it, wont be going back, I have left loads of reviews for places I visit, I dont like leaving negative one's but I'm sorry this place deserve's one.

We have been to the Rose Inn many times and is getting worse. We had visited for my sons birthday and it was the worse experience ever. Over an hour wait for our food , no advance warning it would take so long and no apologies. One of the dishes was wrong so sent back and the lamb shank was very under cooked. By this time we had enough and couldn't wait to leave. We will never go back as the customer service is terrible and they really don't seem to care about their customers.

Visited for dinner and they were having a karaoke night. The food was lovely, served swiftly and tasted yummy! Service was great and the locals and staff were extremely welcoming and the karaoke was great fun. What a great friendly place!

We waited over a hour for our food but the food was alright but the battered halloumi was a main meal and we only got three small ones and they messed up one of our orders and they made half our food and didn't supply us with cutlery till everyone had there meal and they made the new meal that they messed up didn't give us the right cutlery for the leg of lamb and also the lamb was undercooked

We have been here many times before even had our Christmas Day meal here. But today was one of the worst experiences here we have ever had. We pre booked a table over a week ago as we thought it would be busy. There was 5/6 tables in there at the most. We waited to be seated and was ignored by the two members of staff behind the bar not even a wait a moment and we will be with you. We after 10 mins of standing waiting (I am disabled on crutches) were shown to our table and told to order from the bar. Even though we booked a table service table and the signs said as we walked in Table service. We ordered our Food and drinks at the bar to which one drink was not available and there was no ice for any of the drinks. (Really no excuse with Asda round the corner for some bags of Ice really hey ) From when we placed our order to getting our starters was an Hour and they missed one of our starters from our ticket so everyone had finished there starters by the time I got mine. No apology was made either. No one came to check if our food was ok or clear our starter plates until our mains were ready. They brought 2 meals over and then there was a 10 mins delay with the other 2 meals again. I had a lamb shank which I have had many times here and it was awful and hardly cooked so I didn’t eat the meat I just had the broccoli and cold mash potato. My mum had a salad that looked like it was thrown on a plate ! My husbands mash was dry and still had the square of the microwaved container shape too. Again no one was around to ask or complain too. My mum wanted a cup of tea and cake that was Advertised as being available 7 days a week but again not available. So we didn’t bother with desserts and the whole experience was so awful. This used to be an amazing place to spend time with our families with good food but not any more. The staff looked miserable the whole time no customer service skills at all ! We definitely won’t be back any time soon

First no ice for the drinks. Then waited 40 minutes for the starters. The main meals were so so. Probably the worst meal we have had for many years. Certainly won’t go back.

Another great experience at the Rose Inn We had the most amazing Easter dinner but before that the kids loved seeing there Easter bunny and really enjoyed the Easter Egg hunt it was just fantastic.

Went for lunch with friends, food was great. We had wraps and fries. Was a steady lunch time. Garden was open, people sitting out there. We opted to sit inside. Was a lovely atmosphere. Music playing in the background which was nice. Saw a board for a karaoke, might have to get some friends together to try it out 😊. Had a great lunch. Thankyou
