Had an amazing dinner the food was amazing well treated with staff. And the manager made it that bit special for us. Coming to greet and made shore every was perfect. Great guy thanks again

Well what can I say,! I told the chef it was stunning, but on reflection we didn’t do it justice, there were 6 of us and we all agreed it was the best Christmas Dinner we had eaten ever! Congratulations to the staff totally amazing they made our Christmas Day the best! we have been everywhere in Essex for Sunday roast and Christmas Day. We decided nearly…. Not to bother with Christmas Day … omg! Honestly the best we have ever had, we have been to the Roslin, very nice too, Petite Patang, delicious, The Mews, lovely… however nothing to what The Rose Inn delivered Christmas Day! Thank you so much…. Sean the Chef was amazing! staff were brilliant, attention to detail on every level…. They dressed up and served us in the bar area our drinks at the table, which we were not expecting, thank you! Atmosphere was brilliant, loved it and we all want to book Christmas again but 12 this time. Thea I you for baking our day so special. Xxxx

Very disappointing.....we have lived in the village for 20+ years and tried The Rose a good few times...and its always been hit n miss at best. We went this time for my daughters birthday...on a Sunday, table booked in advance. 2 x Sunday dinners...beef...2 x fish n chips...1 x Steak...1 x Hunters chicken. Nothing too difficult you'd think. Took ages to come out and when it did the 2 x fish dishes were very over cooked and cold.... the 2 x sunday roasts came out luke warm and with cottage cheese, which we had said no to when ordering. The Steak was good to be fair, as was the Hunters chicken. Very disappointing overall.... I did complain and we got a VERY small discount.... but generally...really not a good evening.... we won't be going back. ☹ Also, just to mention..the toilets were absolutely DISGUSTING....Mens and Womens....🤢🤢

A fantastic lunch at The Rose - delicious pie, wonderful chips and gravy and a fab pint of Rockong Rudolph. But the best thing was how dog friendly The Rose is. We sat in Canine Corner where our spaniel Max has his own chair, bowl of water and burger for lunch …. Plus loads of fuss and treats from the fabulous Holly H … would highly recommend.

The rose is a lovely pub/restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. We come 2-3 times a week for lunch. Great selection of food and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Great prices and a lovely place to meet friends/family.

Place was empty !!.. boxing day dinner was not nice..white roast potatoes!! Undercooked pig in blanket, gravy you couldn't pour from the jug ..need I say more..!!

My husband and I were lucky enough to get a table in a very busy pub, we hadn't booked. Holly and Sophie ensured our service was good and we had everything we needed

We booked for the Christmas Festive menu and paid a deposit and ordered from the menu in advance. When we got there they had our booking but said the kitchen had no notice of our menu orders. We repeated the order and waited for over 40 minutes. Prawn cocktails were ok, main meals, the vegetables were disappointing. The saving grace was the Xmas pudding and brandy sauce. We have recently been lunching at The Rose every Tuesday but the attitude of the staff, plus this Xmas experience, we will not be returning. With mention of a new manager at the pub we gave the venue a chance, alas

I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere and food at this pub. I had my first Sunday roast there yesterday. Now to me a roast is the quintessential English meal. This meal was probably the worst I’ve ever had. The plate arrived and the portion size was ample and as it was placed in front of me my first thought was wow this is a plate full. Then as I tucked in I found the roast potatoes were anaemic, very pale and barely cooked, the roast parsnips were woody and soggy, cauliflower cheese was so watery with cauliflower itself being boiled to death. Then I got onto the meat, beef. Well, I could only just cut it, it was so tough and dry, chewing it was a chore. The Yorkshire pudding hadn’t risen and was very heavy and dense. But to finish on a high, the peas and carrots were cooked to perfection. We sat down to our table an hour into service, so to have such a poor quality meal so early in their serving times was very disappointing and I hope the meat didn’t dry out any further for the following diners. The service was good, our food arrived quickly, and considering the pub was very busy this was pleasing. (You expect a long serve time when you see so many diners already seated) I was the only one of our party to have a roast and all the other meals that came to our table were of their usual high standards.

We went to visit Father Christmas at The Rose Inn and it was wonderful. Our daughter loved it so much she met Santa twice! The 'elves' were very helpful and attentive, and the food and drinks were lovely! Williams definitely looks to doing this again next year!

Popped in as didn't fancy cooking lunch. The food was so delicious (beef bourguignon and lamb shank). The kids were happy tucked in the corner playing games supplied by pub. So a relaxing, delicious time!

Ordered 3 main courses and 3 drinks. Waited about 45 mins for our dinner to be served. When it was delivered we were very disappointed. Burger was fine but should have been skin-on fries but just normally skinny fries. The scampi was really not good. It was literally just crispy breadcrumbs with nothing inside. We’ve had lunch a few times and it’s normally very nice so was very disappointed this time. We don’t normally complain but we had taken our disabled daughter their for a treat and felt let down.

Very lovely place with cozy atmosphere. Nice and delicious food. You can enjoy beer garden here in a warm weather.

Amazing food as always, we came for lunch over the weekend. Roasts are out of this world every time. very regularly come here during the week and sometimes with the family on a weekend, great family atmosphere the staff are amazing, a massive bonus having the kids play area in a gated garden too so they can run around and have fun without the worry of them going out of sight, dog friendly and they also have a doggy menu so your pooch doesn’t miss out on a sausage or two

11 of us booked a table here for a late Saturday lunch. Our booking was arranged for 2 o clock and we’d had to order our food a week in advance. 2 of us had ordered starters which came out over an hour after we’d sat down. I chased because my 3 year old son was understandably getting quite fidgety by this point. There was no apology from the staff, or offer of compensation and I was told the other large table (the only other guests eating!) had delayed our table. Our mains were eventually served 1 hour 50 mins after we’d arrived, by this point we were incredibly hungry! It was a case of eat and leave as some of had travelled over an hour to be there. The food was average but after waiting so long, with no explanation or apology from the staff our expectations were very low. I questioned if my lasagne should have come with garlic bread but I was told that’s a different lasagne even though the menu states it does on both options listed, however I couldn’t be bothered to question it anymore. They were clearly understaffed as tables from earlier lunch hadn’t been cleared and weren’t cleared the whole time we were there.

The staff were fantastic, in particular the lady that served us all night on Wednesday 23rd October.

Quite good experience. Friendly staff, good food and not too crowded. Nice local pub 👍 The only concern is the parking lot. For some reason, there are no lights, so we could easily miss the turn into it.

I visited with family on a Saturday evening. The service was good. The drinks selection was decent, and while it would have been nice to have more choice on the ales, the bar staff explained that these hadn't sold well at the pub so were being put on hold for the time being. This is a shame, as the Theakstons Old Peculiar was a tasty pint, and the Greene King IPA was nice and consistent. The food was good, tasty, and served well. The kids enjoyed the garden, and overall it was a nicer experience than I've had in another Greene King pub nearby which is in a more built up area and attracts crowds for football.

Great food and a lovely atmosphere I always say I'll have something other than their pies, but the pie keeps calling me back!!! One of the best nachos as well!!

The vegan (for me, dairy-free) options were unbelievable! I was thrilled by the choices. I rarely get to enjoy a meal out like this and I felt almost normal ordering (that is not having to pester staff about what I could and could not eat). Just wow. And alcohol free drink choices were equally as astounding. Felt nice to enjoy a night out booze free but still feel like it was a fancy night out. The atmosphere itself was also gorgeous. That little bit out of the way, the green entry, both lead to a feeling of being special.

A very enjoyable experience had the Seniors menu 3 course for £8.49 great value and served by a lovely girl Holly B get down here everybody and support the pub

Awful!!! Avoid.!! So bad! Hour wait for starters. There is no service or hospitality in this pub! 90 mins wait for main, which when arrived the roast was insipid looking and undercooked! Terrible service, actually did feel sorry for the staff! No atmosphere and generally a real waste of a pretty pub in a lovely area!

We waited 2 hours for our food and the server had the audacity to argue that it wasn't exactly 2 hours but only 1 hour and 50 minutes, when we ordered they said that it would take 30 minutes. The pub is almost empty too. Took our refund and left. Will never visit again

Food was cold by the time we got it & it tasted awful. Roast beef was over cooked & full of fat. The burger was dry & overcooked too! Really slow service too. Appreciate you are required to order at the bar, but surely you can open more than 1 till! Definitely won’t be going back there anytime soon

Lovely pub inside and out. The decor is nice, the outside areas are lovely and have some play equipment. The pub is family and dog friendly. Service was quick and polite. Definitely would return if I was in the area again and I thoroughly recommend it.

Lovely spot for a catch up with friends and a bash at the pub quiz. Attended early so we could eat before the event and enjoyed the beef and ale pie which was huge. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Look forward to going back.

Food was extremely poor. We had roasts each, I had mushroom and ale pie (which despite it being in the roast category, was not remotely a roast and did not include any roast ingredients) and my boyfriend has beef roast- beef was dry and chewy, Yorkshire's were burnt and the gravy was basically just beef stock. I ordered a strawberry woowoo which was supposed to contain Malibu but was given a concoction which just tasted like archers and strawberry (archers wasn't even supposed to be an ingredient.) We didn't finish our meal because we genuinely just didn't want to, and we both aren't exactly fussy. Absolute waste of £35 meal. Seeeeriously poor.

Spoke to the waitress about the tiny portion, said the chef said that's about right for the meat. Supposed to have been pink, no pink at all, just rubbish over cooked, microwaved rubbish. Said to the waitress I'd give a rubbish review, just walked off. Not the usual standard of Greene King. Total disappointment. Better off in a cheap cafe!! Will never return here. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere!! Disgraceful

Lovely meal, good quality and fairly priced. Staff were fabulous.

Been going for ride outs to this pub for dinner for a few years and always been good but after tonight we won't be coming back in a hurry . Service was poor and food times were slow ( over an hour ) and the staff ignored allergies when taking the order . when we asked how long the food would be the waiter said he would go find out and didn't come back , after 45 minutes my partner went in and asked and was told we should of been told food had a 20 minute wait what would of been OK if we had been told that and it not of been 45 minutesby that point . When the food did eventually come out it came 1 dish at a time with enough of a wait between them each person was able to eat there dinner before the next one had came out even known we all ordered together. When my partners food came out she quickly noticed they had ignored that I told them about her allergies. By this point we had had enough and left . Over all in the past this pub has been good but tonight the service was poor , slow and 4 out of 5 of us did not enjoy the food .

Went there's to day Sunday 18 August For the Sunday roast lunch as all way it was fantastic lovely. I have to say that my wife and I enjoyed it very much, will definitely be going back very soon, thanks to all the staff looking after us

I used to come here a lot and it would always be fantastic when I came. Today , I was a bit disappointed. We were advised before ordering they were busy so there was no table service which was absolutely fine but walking through the restaurant to get drinks there was about two tables of people it wasn’t busy at all. We ordered starters that were quite easy to make but they came out one hour later . After walking our plates to the bar the main did come out shortly after and it tasted ok but not something I’d order again. Overall wasn’t worth the wait today :(

My husband and I took my uncle and aunt out for lunch yesterday and were treated to a really good meal in a great atmosphere by extremely friendly and helpful staff. Our cockapoo George was also made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed his dog ice cream, and of course all the fuss he received. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to Southend to take the family out again.

We had a large party for a birthday lunch and were truly looked after. Great service, food delicious (I tried several dishes!) - staff were so friendly it made our birthday event extra special. Thank you to everyone who was working so hard both front of house and behind the scenes. Truly appreciated.

The food was wonderful, customer service was extremely good. I had lamb shank, the meat just fell off the bone and the gravy delicious! I havent had a meal like that in a pub restaurant for a long time. I was in a group and we all had different meals but we all commented on how good the food was. We all enjoyed our meals and the lovely latmosphere and had a really pleasant evening x

I hadn't been to The Rose Inn for over 20 years so decided to give it a try for dinner. Service was faultless and dinner couldn't be faulted. We will be returning.

Foods great but management is a joke, general manager would rather talk to customers on busy day than help them on the bar it's self (from the way he talks to customers about the staff it's clear there's no respect there) , watching him eventually pull a pint was a joke should have had a flake with it. I think it's safe to say I will not be returning any time soon.
