Royal Fish and Chips in Southend-on-Sea

After getting chips and saveloy to take away. I wish I walked back has my chips was cold. Maybe next time I will. The rating is for service only.

Bad food, bad service and bad attitude from the staff, don’t waste your money, soggy chicken nuggets, off tasting mayonnaise, and the staff actually said we couldn’t have another take away package as we couldn’t use too many, disgusting! Avoid

Really great owner. Made me fresh fish and chips despite having some chips already. Really tasty and worth the wait for the fresh food. Amazing service and food. 🙂

Went there because it was halal service really bad service , I order meduim fish and chip x5 just paid for it was only 5 seconds, I said can I just change the order to 5 small fish amd chip , they guy said we don't do small fish and chips, I said why is it on your menu why lie, he said they stop doing it , scumb bag got my money already he did not want to refund the difference, The table chairs were also very sticky , service was so poor and slow will advice wings and chicken was serverd it was so old and dry others to think twice before coming here , I'll advice you to just go to German donna which is about 2 mins walk

Ordered cheesy chips. The cheese was completely out of date and sour. Chicken wrap also tasted off. Absolute waste of money and uncomfortable atmosphere from crackheads and drunkards. Worst food ever.

Asked if they cooked the fish and the chips in the same fryer, said yes 👍 I said I'd leave it because of the gluten. Then they told me they did other vegan items. Because being vegan and gluten free is exactly the same...... Very reassuring, wont be eating there

The place was very tired and dirt and debris all over the tables and floor we sat upstairs and if you looked at the mirrors they looked like they had never been cleaned.tThe food was served in take away trays the cutlery was made of wood and yes we were sitting in the restaurant.

I visited restaurant yesterday evening, half of the items were sold out & the chips I was served were terrible, should have been thrown out not served to customers.. I definitely won’t be buying from them again.

I ordered the medium fish but they delivered the extra small fish never order again

One of the wrost shop to go one of the guys was picking up the wings from the dirty table he drop and was gonna severe us then my husband saw it and told him not too give that ,and the Owner was so rude I ask for a cup that tea are served to use to cool my baby’s milk cold he said they don’t give it away their cups and they don’t give cold water I said okey I will pay you for the tea money give me the cup he still won’t , I was gonna use my own bottle water if I had the empty cup, how disgusting behaviour instead he started saying he don’t care if baby’s don’t drink milk , only for empty cup and I ask for which I was ready to pay for the amount for his tea. All the other shop even Macdonalds Would give some cold water in their hot cup or drinks cups .

Please don’t eat this shop 19L FISH & CHIPS food is discusting and rude owner fro asking a empty cup fro baby’s milk to cool and this shops guys pick up food from dirty table he drop I saw it with my own eyes then I told him to give new one and served us we was sick 5days please don’t eat this restaurant After eating saw they use black bin to bring out their chips from fridge to fry

Came here when visiting Southend as this is the only halal fish and chip place we saw. It was nice but didn’t love it. Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 (took a very long time to serve us) Atmosphere: 3/5

The customer service is very good but the quality of food is terrible. Subhan Allah.-standard burger patties (both chicken and Beef were very poor) and stale burger buns. The fries are average at best. The seating area needs a revamp. Halal.

Came here because they're the only fully halal fish and chip shop in the area - need more of these in seaside towns. It's a clean place. They have lots of sauce options. The car park isn't too far away either. Cod and chips were nice, but wasn't the most flavorful.

Very bad experience. Staff behaviour was very poor. They charged extra and when I speak to them they get aggressive and said this is not our fault this is the common thing. When I asked them to do the return because the taste was so bad then he become aggressive and said take your tea and get out from our shop. Very poor customer service.

Brilliant food, fantastic chocolate and strawberry milkshakes , best we've ever had. Lovely and clean despite being busy. Helpful girl serving ( didn't catch the name sorry) the shocked look on her face when we took the tray downstairs when we finished eating . Highly recommended

The water which i purchased from the store had more flavour than the actual fish & chips.

Just eat driver left the food in the plastic bag on the door mat, they didn't call or knock on the door. Very disappointed with the delivery service. My opposite saw the food outside my door and call me. Please remind your drivers to be more professional.

Very dry & over priced:( I couldn't eat it

I ordered a medium portion of chips and battered sausage on side in order to get a larger portion then the serving you get in a meal. They sent it as a meal - which I did not pay for. There fire I got a single portion of chips which wasn’t enough to share like the medium would have .

Good pit stop on the night out. Had a chip butty I haven't had in years and was amazing. Generous portion on a standard size and greedy boy potion on the large, fluffy chips and thoroughly enjoyable! Making me want one now just writing this!

Driver went off grid for a while then food arrived cold. I suspect he was doing other deliveries for other companies

Food was poor and tiny portions and not hot although it was a 5min drive from restaurant to door. Driver forgot drinks so had to come back.

Sad to say how downhill this place has gone! It is no longer a restaurant you’d feel welcome in for eating in- the staff don’t know where their basic certain things are. You aren’t given plates when eating in, the cutlery and plastic cups are thinner than you could imagine. Their bathroom hygiene was worse than what uni students could achieve. And unfortunately the interior really hasn’t been looked after as there is paint falling off everywhere. I hope they’re able to revitalise this place. The food itself was nice though which is why they get 2 stars instead of 0

Went here for fish and chips absulutely delicious fish was tasty chips where proper chippy chip lady who served me help me cos me being on the larger size she moved the seats back for me so I could fit in highly recommend this fish and chip shop 10 out of 10 service 10 out of 10 food Highly recommended

Lovely staff and delicious fish and chips. The large can easily be shared between 2 adults (and still have leftover!) Always come here when in Southend.

Royal fish and chips probably one of the only Halal fish and chips place but you will get chicken fries and sausage as well.. The place was quite average and full..Respectively the owner offered the customer free hot milk for the babies..I personally liked it.. If the service and food goes a little better it will go Soo better.

Probably the best tasting HALAL Fish & Chips in the country - it was amazingly delicious. You can even charge your phone here. One negative, the seats needs a serious upgrade

Taste was OK but portions were small and both cod and chips cold. They were better b4 it was just eat. Why do they not use heat mats in their bags?

Basic restaurant but great chips

£5 milkshakes were tiny. Some items not even delivered. Tried to ring restaurant and no answer.

The fish and chips were a little disappointing, not the best batter I have tried but the chips were good and the staff were very nice.

Very clean atmosphere and very delicious food as always 10/10.

Stopped here with my sister for an ice cream. The man working asked what we wanted and then proceeded to get on with preparing his fish and totally ignoring us. Couldn’t believe his rudeness. We ended up just giving up and walking away. There is no way I will ever stop here again. Customer service was zero.

Never received my order! Called the restaurant twice, first they lied and said it was picked up 10 mins ago so should be there any minute... 30mins later called again and the said the delivery person hasn't picked up our order and that basically it's not there problem and was very rude!

Waited for a long time for order to arrive & when it arrived I was shocked to see it was in small take-a-way cartons, after awhile the restaurant was empty except my friends & me, one of the staff decided to swipe the floor, which he swept all the dirt towards us, so the dust was going over us, when I told him this he became nasty, he had no respect for us, for what happened and for what was said I would definitely not recommend this restaurant,they have no respect for customers or their welfare This restaurant is not disabled friendly

£20 for large cod mid chips and 2 Rolls I was expecting something a bit special, well it isn't its Just box standard Fish and chips so I wont be ordering from tthem again, not even crusty Rolls :-(

The fish and ships was very tasty and fresh but unfortunately the apple juice was 1cup for £3 and it wasn’t what I was expecting, it’s not fresh, it was cheap apple juice from shops. Very disappointing.

Chips portion size was disgusting, for a large portion costing nearly £5 is a joke. So called quarter pound burger was flat as a pancake, overcooked and had chunks of salad. Obviously takes too long to slice an onion and tomato, wedges work not. Chicken nuggets also overcooked. Waste of hard earned money for so called treat

I was on a day out trip with family in Southend and found this halal fish and chips place ,I was very happy with the food when it arrived as it was freshly cooked and tasted very flavourful and the chicken wings were very delightful and yummy ,I would happily come back here if I do visit Southend again

Well worth the visit. The food was spot on. Prices not too dissimilar to other eateries in the same prime location. Staff were polite and service was good.

This is a great spot in Southend for casual good quality fish and chips! For my family it was great because it was Halal. It wasn't the most modern of places but it definitely did the job!

I went to Southend beach and typically the fish and chips places aren't very considerate for how they fry for dietary restrictions. So Royal fish and chips came up on Google as a halal option, they were amazing, very friendly and nice. The brother with the beard was like family the way he met. The fish and chips were one of the best I've had. Very highly recommended!

Nice place server was excellent provided us with baby chair n was genuinely nice. Food was OK chicken wings were good n the chips were aight.

Though the staff were very helpful and friendly, my family and I felt very uncomfortable in the restaurant due to the state of the premises. It's very unclean and it just doesn't seem hygienic. There was a strange odour in the restaurant that was very off putting whilst eating.
