Great battered sausage but the chips in the chip roll were awful, rock hard, dry & tasted funny, not going back there again 😬

Ordered food at 7:45pm - returned at 8:50pm to collect and they had run out of chips. Extremely rude Girl serving who stared at me with contempt throughout my visit as I dared to call her out on playing Loud deafening music, having soaking wet floor with no signs and for having run out of chips when I had already paid!

The oldest nastiest dried chips the colour wasn’t even normal should be in the bin seemed like the food was cooked in the sun four weeks ago, the sausages are oily and have an unpleasant taste, i wouldn’t let these people feed my dog for free 🤢🤮💩 worst food i couldn’t eat this zombie 🧟‍♂️ food waste of my money

Food was freshly made & so tasty plus service was great one of the best chippys in grays. Highly recommended!!

Was told this was a good fish n chip shop but was very let down by unhappy staff and had to wait a long time for the food. The food was not worth waiting for. Won't be going there again

Usually buy my fish and chips from here. Went in tonight and as I was waiting I had time to Have a look about, the place is filthy. The ovens and cabinets, ceilings, mirrors and floor need a good clean the place is extremely run down and needs a refurbishment. I didn’t enjoy the food as I kept thinking about the state of the place. I won’t be going there again I didn’t even see a food hygiene rating.

Possibly the worst chip shop in the UK, do not go here, even if you are starving to death. Would rather eat dog feces.

Utter disrespect. The lady serving us was talking about us behind our back where we could hear her. Cannot believe she had the audacity to do that.

I wanted fish bites, they never had fish for them so I got 2 cod and chips. I wanted 1 piece of chicken (breast) for a kids meal, she said no you can only have wings or a leg. Terrible service and crap attitude. She could have gave us the breast as a kids meal as it said on the board 1 piece of chicken and this is what I call a jobsworth. We normally use the dhillions y the train station which is much better and portion size is much bigger. Lived in grays forever but you couldn't pay me to eat here again, rude staff and food wasnt great.

If you like being sneered at by staff who would clearly rather be out with their mates or on the inter web thingy then fill your boots. Otherwise don’t bother. Seriously, the staff in there are so rude, I can’t believe customers aren’t pulling them over the counter and shoving their battered sausages down their throat!!

My first impressions of this place unfortunately aren't good. The staff member on the till was very rude. Initially I asked if they accepted cards and she abruptly replied "No, cash only!" 1. What sort of place doesn't accept card payments. We live in the 21st century. 2. She had no reason to be rude to me. But I let is slide, I got cash out ordered my food and whilst waiting, realized she had overcharged me. When I questioned it, her face and attitude was like she didn't give a care in the world, but I got the money back, after she shoved it in my hand. I then got dirty looks from another staff member behind the till. I felt so uncomfortable that I couldn't wait to get out. The food however was really nice, it's just a shame the staff don't have any customer service skills. I will never eat from there again and will not recommend this (not even to my worst enemy)!

Still the best takeaway chips in grays.not every one will agree just a personal opinion.friendly service

Went in with my wife and three children and ordered 3 portions of chips to go, female server asked if we wanted it wrapped and we said 'Yes'. There were no other customers in store. 10 minutes later two groups of people came in and were served chips before us and our order was nowhere to be seen. When I approached and asked the female why they were served before us, she asked once again if we want it wrapped and I said she was told when the order was taken and she rudely replied I'm asking you if you want it wrapped or open? Then continued to say that they were here before us, clearly they weren't as we were the first people there. Then dismissed me and literally threw the chips on the table and shrugged her shoulders, YES YOU WITH THE TATOOS, you should be working at the market stall and not serving customers, customer service is absolutely zero, no apologies, not even a thank you, will never return, DO NOT GO THERE. zero stars

This shop sells the best fish and chips in Essex. Great quality cod and good size potions . Cooked fresh , staff are always pleasant

Had work lunch picked up the other day from here and the chips and fresh roll were great and, for the price, was amazing. My only negative was the burger, tastes very, well, un-burgerish... I still would return, however only for the chips and maybe try chicken.

Lovely traditional Fish and Chips with fine extras like chicken and ribs etc. All in all very good service and tasty grub

Sirve a los clientes y patatas crudas cuando me quejé al día siguiente Bob el chef me ofrecieron un puñado de patatas fritas para probar que obviamente se negó. Este es Dhillons cerca de la estación en grises. La señora sirve (con pelo corto y rubio) no tenía ni idea de cómo manejar las quejas de cliente y Bob solo diciendome que estaba caliente y que era su excusa para servir patatas crudas. Comería de esta tienda de nuevo.

The staff are very friendly and the food is brilliant. Sometimes there's a long wait for food but it's well worth the wait.

Recently visited and was pleasantly surprised, recently refurbished everything was clean and sparkling, even the staff had nice uniforms and hats, ordered fish and chips which were lovely, very busy, which is good, meaning constant cooking of chips,not a patch on mumfords,though, they also do plenty of other things like chicken in different forms,sausages and lots of other things worth a visit

Great fishcakes, saveloys, battered sausages and pies. Lovely chips. Great portions and great prices. Both of the chip shops in grays are fantastic. Never disappoints.

Our chippy of choice.Great taste, generous portions and good value for money.They have another shop near to Grays railway station which is handy for picking up food after a day out.

Dhillons chippy is very nice. Looks very presentable outside and out. Green and gold signage. Inside, nice clean surfaces and huge selection of fish, chicken, saveloy and the usual suspects. I really like the large cod here. Generous portion that a family of 2 and a half can enjoy( me, my wife and our toddler) chips are nice, could be a bit crisper, sometimes abit too soft for my liking, but my wife loves them so, on second thoughts, they should keep them the same, I don't want to get I trouble with the mrs. They have loads of bits to choose from, some if which are not on the menu but are on display- like their wings...would be better if they had a full price list. The staff are friendly the place is clean and the food is very tasty at reasonable prices. The 3 of us can have a belly full of fish, chips and a couple of bits and pieces for £10. My favourite chip shop in the area.

I ordered my food and waited for chips to be cooked along with two ladies ahead of me. A few minutes later the chips arrived and the two ladies were served. Then someone came in wanting chips and the woman serving served him immediately leaving me to wait. I asked "why are you serving him ahead of me?. No answer. She then served me and I continued to demand an explanation. She responded a number of times saying "are you serious"? She was implying I was complaining over nothing. Sorry but I believe in fairness and this wasn't fair. This is very poor service. I should not have to wait simply because she prefers some other customer to me. Beware. This establishment is rude and disrespectful to its customers.
