The best restaurants serving British food in East of England

Visited the toilets while I was there shopping. They smelled heavily of urine and looked unclean. I’ve been in cleaner festival loos! An increasing problem with stores that insist women share with men. I’m done with this shop

Had Fish and Chips for lunch , was really disappointed the meal was cooked ok but I have never had such a small portion of fish in my life . My son in law said I have seen more fish in a fish finger and he was right . I was hungury and eat the meal hoping that should the waiter enquire if everything was ok I could show him my concern . He never showed up , when he came to collect the plate I told him I never complain but in this case was very disappointed with the fish portion size . He said he would tell the kitchen staff and that was that we left . Just a warning avoid food at this pub .

I booked my wife’s 60th birthday party here, two months before they cancelled all bookings and keep all the deposits. Please do NOT book this place they ruined birthday party’s and weddings

massive queue ................no saucers !!!!!!!!!!...................tea and scones with a round cup and no saucer .................basic and below standard .....dirty un cleared tables floor filthy

Had lunch here Great food lovely staff loads of parking space, not to far from town centre,nice countryside pub

Good meal,friendly service not bad price for that food. My children really look forward to get in there desserts. Highly recommend for families.

At the end of the pier, away from the crowds and with lovely views, this might have been a great place for a family lunch. However, what was served was not great, This is a large restaurant, quite basic, with some outside seating as well. The signage is poor - if you didn’t know it was there, you might never find it and give non a busy day with lovely weather, the place was nearly empty. The menus are very basic British seaside, with fish, chips, beans etc being the common theme. No problem with that…if it’s done nicely. We were served fish that looked as if it was jaundiced, presumably because they are using corn oil, thus imparting a rather unnatural yellow colouring. The batter itself was nice and crispy, but the piece of fish wasn’t very big. Chips were perfectly OK, nice and crispy. Beans and garden served were boiled dry and in consequence were not eaten…and at £1.80 a pot that was a waste. Sadly, we won’t be returning as the food simply wasn’t up to scratch. The service was OK. This was a missed opportunity. We chose due to the location and on reflection, made a mistake.

Used to be great. Decided to go again and what a mistake. Food inedible. Fish cooked in stale oil. Staff surly and it didn’t look very clean, Hope they didn’t overcharge me and good advice from others to check your bank statement. So many great places to eat in Baldock but this is no longer one of them.

Very slow service, and no staff urgency, but tbf they are understaffed. They could not possibly cut the cake slices any thinner without having them crumble completely, and given they’re charging £3.50 - £4.75 each and of very average quality I would not recommend. Coffee is decent. There’s been years of poor/average JL WGC cafe reviews so clearly the mgt aren’t interested in improving quality and customer service. They used to be apathetic but now couldn’t care less !

Not sure if we just struck lucky today, but Fakenham Morrison's Cafe seems to have picked up its game. Our server and table host (till guy and tray carrier, if you prefer) was excellent. Sadly no name badge so can't give personal credit. He was friendly, accommodating, and quick. So much so we had to look around to check we were in the right place. Food here is cheap, of dubious quality, and chips are usually undercooked (only just this time). But the price is great and the service was, well, pretty good. Also, apart from three tables with dirty crockery on (usually there is far more), the tables were all clear and nicely wiped and clean. Excellent. Big thanks to the guys today! We had a very nice time.

A little longer wait than expected but the breakfast was great. Wish you had a little more choice of milk for the cuppa. Food was tasty and I loved the toast, eggs cooked well and so much better than self serve where they can be rubbery. Polite staff and I liked the hot drink refill. I don’t think anyone goes to a supermarket cafe for the ambiance but it is cheerful enough.

Una cafetería tan encantadora con tan buena comida y bebida a precios asequibles! Es tan difícil para mí encontrar un lugar al que pueda permitirme ir por un lugar remotamente decente, pero este es mi destino. ¡Tanto amor por el lugar!

Wow! Ordered a jacket potato, pretty sure I've received a new potato. Beyond awful.

The ship pub has a special place in my heart! It is a family run pub with a very welcoming atmosphere. Every weekend there is unreal entertainment as well as mid week quizzes. The food is always outstanding and I honestly will not go anywhere else for a drink.

Came in at the time of our reservation and had to wait 15 minutes until we got a table and then there was a long queue for the carvery so became very hungry. Got an apple pie for desert, which are meant to have a great reputation but still tasted frozen. There was no gammon, a dirty fork, very thin gravy and no cheesecake either. I was very disappointed with my experience.
