Cafe Arena in Cambridge

Last Thursday me and my daughter ordered a Mega full English breakfast at The Cafe Arena on Burleigh Street. The portions were large however, the food on our plates were highly salty which made it inedible. Also, even though we were both very polite the staff appeared rude, frosty and very unwelcoming so we won't be eating here again. Maybe they dislike their jobs!

Such a little gem. It looks quite inauspicious from the outside but it’s seriously good. Great, fresh food and drink. Worth a visit!

I stopped here with three children (2, 4 and 12). They had grilled cheese sandwiches and I had the halloumi open sandwich. Service and food were all fantastic and I would highly recommend the cafe. Excellent takeaway cakes ! And good value for money :)

I sat down outside with my dog, just wanting a coffee! (After walking her around the common) And was completely IGNORED !!! The man just looked at me and turned away, and the boy came out to clean other tables and ignored me too So I left after 10mins So if you want to have a drink with a furry family member don't go there. I walked back over to city centre and stopped at the little hut by bus stop, he was so nice, gave me water and a bowl for my furry girl

I went for the chopped avocado on sourdough with chillies and sundried tomatoes. It was nothing like that ( see picture ) when I said that it wasn’t as advertised I was told ‘I don’t know what you expected’ Well at £9 I expect what’s on the menu .

Ate breakfast here which was very reasonably priced. The produce is reflected in this but it was nicely cooked. I ate it outside which is pleasant enough but had to leave in a rush when two customers lit up and smoked over the top of me. Yuk. The clientele are generally the type who think nohing of doing this. Its a pity as for that reason I would not go back.

While sat there having a coffee with a friend, A lady turned up with her dog, I held the lead so she could get her coffee, a young member of staff came outside next to my table, I politely asked for a bowl of water for the dog, even in the shade it was a hot day. I got a blank look and no reply. The dog never got any water from here. I was disgusted with the negative rudeness of the staff, not even an acknowledgement of my request. Safe to say I won’t be going back there again and would never take my dog!! How do they treat guide dogs and service dogs in the heat I wonder…Just to add if the dogs owner had requested water!!!

Today I visited Café Arena after a very long time, Covid being the the only factor as I haven’t needed to be in central Cambridge until today. Covid safety measures in place so rest assured! (Hand sanitiser everywhere, social distancing stickers and NHS track and trace posters also!) As always the service was good and the food was amazing! Definitely did more than fill a hole and for the price of £5.95 the ham cheese and mushroom omelette certainly impressed. The mint hot chocolate was very good also and as good if not better than the chain version. No names.. Overall, If you’re looking for a quick meal between shopping or just fancy a coffee Arena is perfect and has my vote! Takeaway is also available!

I eat here to avoid all the big tax dodging coffee shops. Nice people ....but the cafe does need a refurb, was quite surprised to see it was not at least spruced up a bit over the lockdown.

Walked into town this morning for breakfast (opposite Primark) This place did not disappoint. Both breakfasts were amazing. Red hot. The mushrooms were ace. Drinks red hot too. Staff were lovely and friendly and service great too. Would definitely go back. Xx

I have visited this venue on several occasions, for breakfast and lunch. I was there yesterday, February 23rd for breakfast. The staff, as always, were charming, friendly and professional. The breakfast was excellent as always. We always have the double breakfast. We visit other venues for breakfast, but always come back here. Keep it up.

A small independent establishment, opposite the door of the popular Primark shop. Our first visit was driven by thirst and two coffees and a wrap were ordered. The quality was just great, premises basic but clean, chairs of no great comfort bit this is not an eaterie at which to spend a lunch or evening get together, more stop and bite. For what it tries to be I would recommend it. Not expensive, either, with a well filled wrap just under a fiver.

Since stumbling across it a couple of months ago, I've started visiting Arena Café on what has become quite a regular basis and this is due to the consistently high standard of service and food I've always received. During my visit this week I ordered a ham and cheese omelette and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was the best omelette I've ever had! Super fluffy but also oozing melted cheese, plenty of filling and absolutely filled my plate (and stomach). I would also recommend the warm chicken tikka wrap and the mint hot chocolate... It's to die for! The value for money is fantastic, especially when you take into account its location in the heart of the main shopping area near the Grafton. It's also always well staffed and the service is quick, efficient yet still warm and charming. Decor inside is also really cosy and has a homely feel. Plenty of seating indoors and out. Close to all the big name shops and department stores. Well worth a visit.

I popped in as I was passing to hava a coffee while listening to a street performa. Te coffee was nice but the tuna melt was not. I won't be popping in again

Visited Cambridge for my son's graduation. The hotel we booked was without breakfast. So one day we went downtown for shopping and before that for breakfast. We were outside Primark and noticed this little café that served breakfast. So we decided to give it a try. The price of their breakfast was cheaper than other places. Their breakfast was large and very tasty. We only stayed in Cambridge for a few days but ended up having breakfast on two occasions. It is absolutely recommended.

La comida que me dieron, que debería haber rechazado, consistía en unos champiñones completamente desecados, una tostada con una pizca de lo que supongo que era margarina pero podría haber sido mantequilla (muy poco para probar), una tina baja frijoles horneados de calidad que habían sido bombardeados en un microondas, una sola rodaja de tomate que debe haber estado bajo una lámpara caliente durante 24 horas estaba tan arrugada (también explicaría los espantosos champiñones), una salchicha que era principalmente cartón y una sola rodaja de tocino. We were very happy with food and service. Lovely cafe with lovely staff. Especially freshly squeezed orange juice and mushroom omelette.

Ended up here accidentally whilst waiting for a friend - it was the wrong cafe and to be honest, I would never have chosen this place but the coffee was fantastic Lavazza coffee; food looked hearty so I promised myself I would come here.Decided to pop in here over the weekend to test the breakfast and really wasn't disappointed. Delicious veggie breakfast, great portions, well made, lovely mushrooms. This cafe is a no frills place, but it delivers great traditional food. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Will definitely go back to try the cakes.

Went here to try and buy coffee and cake. Asked about allergy information for the cakes, was told "they all have nuts, we buy everything in ready made". I asked to see ingredients lists, they said "sometimes we put ingredients lists with the cakes in the display but we don't have them today" and was told I couldn't see the ingredients list. Really rude service. If they buy their cakes in they should still have the ingredients information available.

I ordered a toasted sandwich and a coffee. Cafe was lovely and warm. Didn't have to wait long. Would visit again.

Acabamos de comprar bebidas calientes y pastel, pero el personal era muy acogedor. Estaba tranquilo ya que era tarde, pero el personal parecía muy bien entrenado, una novedad cada vez mayor en Cambridge.

Parece agradable y el personal era bastante amable. Lamentablemente, el simple almuerzo realmente no fue tan bueno; de hecho, no digamos que no fue tan bueno.

Me senté a desayunar con mi hermano una mañana y me sorprendió cuando me dieron el servicio de mesa. Las camareras eran muy tranquilas y torpes, pero ambos dieron un gran servicio. Tuve el brunch frito y fue perfecto para mí y no es caro en absoluto. El café también era adorable. Hay un gran menú para elegir, desde papas con filetes hasta baguettes y desayuno. ¡Definitivamente volveré!

Coffee, pot of tea and a slice of lemon drizzle that tasted just like it had come out of the oven, very nice. As a bespoke decorator and baker, my expectations are high and Cafe Arena did not let itself down. Very clean, attentive staff, welcoming atmosphere. Next time we are going to make it out breakfast stop. Recommend.

Poor rude service, food just taste like been microwaved, definitely overpriced ! will never back again.

I visited Arena cafe for a quick breakfast with friends while visiting Cambridge. Food was great and prices were low. Five stars for the great service and friendly staff!

Nice place but could do with changing the chip fat or sorting out their extraction. Came out smelling of fried food. Food was okay though

From my title you can guess i was not a fan. Went in as me and a friend were first timers to Cambridge- as soon as we sat down the blonde waitress was so moody and just had a face on her. we had barely sat down before 2 waitresses asked us what we wanted to drink. its a small cafe why they couldn't see we literally said hold on to one girl the other waitress had to jump on us!

Me encontré con un amigo y mi bebé con mucho el desayuno antes de salir de compras necesario! Nos sentamos en la parte de atrás y dieron un menú. Yo soy vegetariana, así que mi elección era bastante limitado, me decidí por el desayuno vegetariano menos el huevo y mantequilla en tostadas con ningún extra de hongos. Yo estaba emocionado por el ofrecimiento de burbujas y squeak. Le pregunté a la camarera si había alguna mantequilla en la realización del mismo. Ella tenía ninguna idea. En vez de ir a preguntar al chef ella simplemente dijo que no sabía. Pensé que era extraño que no sé como burbujas y squeak es sobras normalmente. Yo jugué y fui por ella. Desayuno llegó muy rápido. La burbuja y squeak no fue hecho en la premisa de que me dejan perplejo un poco teniendo en cuenta el precio del desayuno. Yo era una hamburguesa congelada dinámicos barato como burbujas. Fue así breadcrumbed más que probable hubiera sido el rastreo antes de huevo bajaba. Decepcionado! ! También mi promesa de un extra de hongos estaba truncada ya que eran 8 pequeñas setas botón (cortar) y el tomate incluso ni siquiera restos carbonizados o cocinado! Era sólo un tomate crudo en trozos de medio y hacía frío. Todo el desayuno fue decepcionante y decepcionante. Cuando termine el aseo, bien utilizada que fue otra cosa que dieron mal. Frío, sucio y absolutamente asqueroso. Por el precio que pagas, te podías ir a ningún otro sitio.

Ouch that sounds nasty, but actually I'm struggling to find anything bad about the place, at the same time not wanting to make it sound better than I found it on my visit.

Bueno, qué puedo decir. Primero de todo el personal son gruñones, miserable y muy desagradable. En numerosas ocasiones, fui testigo de una de las chicas me buscan para arriba y para abajo. Tampoco le gustó mi. llenando o me apetecía a mí, pero no estoy seguro de que es necesario llegar al otro lado tan grosero en una función de servicio al cliente. La comida estaba por debajo de la media, tenía una mozzarella, albahaca y tomate ciabatta. Completamente asombrados de encontrar la albahaca albahaca seca era. Como desde un recipiente. de hierbas secas! ! Por £4. 95 me esperaba un spring fresco de albahaca; Qué decepción! ! ! ! ! ! Fuimos dentro de pagar para ser recibido por más muerte y silencio miradas No quieres mi dinero o. . . . . Finalmente la muerte mirando chica finalmente sonó a través de la factura, no gracias a ella. No volveremos, por favor, no tiren su dinero. La primera y última visita, por desgracia.

Me fui a desayunar con mi madre. Tuve un desayuno inglés completo y mi madre tenía un Crèpe con Nutella y banana. Cuando vinieron nos quedamos muy confuso, ya que esta era la primera vez y no si nos pide en el bar o que...

Sin tomar un café cada mañana desde aquí de camino a su trabajo. Excelente personal y consistentemente un buen café. La pena vuelve en si estás en la zona.

Sólo una vez, pero ha encontrado el café muy bueno mi madre tenía una tarta de chocolate fudge que le gustó. El personal es muy amable volvería entonces podría tarifa más alta.

Agradable y eficiente servicio, buena comida y un buen café. Está cerca del centro de Grafton y es una buena opción para un almuerzo ligero.

Fuimos a desayunar. Hicimos nuestro pedido a una camarera bastante rápidamente. Después de unos 10 minutos empezamos a preguntarnos donde la comida era como normalmente es más rápida. Nos dimos cuenta de que la camarera y chica máquina efectivo hablando sobre nuestra mesa. La camarera volvió a tomar nuestro pedido de nuevo, (no perderla el pedido de disculpas para). Así que después de otros diez minutos pedimos a la chica detrás del mostrador de cómo la comida se tome, nos dieron una pobre excusa de la cocina "está ocupada. "La gente que vino después de nosotros nos sirven mucho antes de nosotros. Debido a los 25 minutos de espera para dos desayunos, esperábamos al menos una disculpa, quizás el té bajó de la factura. Nos dieron ninguna disculpa por la espera. Si alguien comete un error es mucho más sencillo hacer para disculparse de excusas, y por esto no volveremos a este café.

Ordered 2 full English Breakfasts, waitress didn't seem to care, beans cold, sausage was full of fat and squidgy, mentioned it to the waitress , along with some other points, and they just shrugged there shoulders Shame as used to love this cafe

its a cute little cafe! the food is nice and the staff are friendly. i go there from time to time with friends for lunch and am always pleased,

I went in for a breakfast,it seemed like the waitress wasn't really bothered and a little unfamiliar with the contents of the menu.This is the kind of cafe i went into in 1976 and really hasn't moved forward. No Hygiene sticker from the local council on display should I be worried? The whole place is cluttered with stuff that has been their for some time and just needs skipping, A Old Grandfather clock which is not working, hessian sacks with a display of something in the front window is dusty and just need clearing.Coffee stains from a week,month or even a year are on the wall by the front door as you go in who knows how long they have been there, a simple wipe with a cloth is all that needed. I was their for 20 minutes and could see it, why they cant is beyond me, They who work their all the time - Its really about customer journey,What does the customer see as soon as they walk in.This is a exercise I strongly recommend the Arena completes and acts on, The underside of the blind on the outside you can see from the tables on the inside and the rods are minging with dirt. The food was just OK nothing to go back for, the Bacon sandwich wasn't packed with bacon but it was ok and that is not good enough these days. De-clutter everywhere have a good clean and do the customer journey exercise and we might be getting somewhere.

I come here every few months with my friend to specifically order the strawberries and Nutella pancakes. They are absolutely wonderful!

There is cheap and there is "cheap" the food was greasy my 2 year old would not eat any of it which is unusual. eggs like plastic. salmon and cream cheese pannini sickly looked off awful. the double big breakfast gave my friend the runs awful. an absolute dive toilet full of mould

I have been to Arena cafe quite a bit in the past as it is near to where I work. Their waitresses are always attentive and really polite - they are always waiting to welcome you in whether they're busy or not. When I get lunch I tend to get a jacket potato to take away - the potatoes are cooked in an oven so are nice and crispy and big. The toppings have always been very generous portions. Whenever I have been in there, there has never been any language barrier whatsoever. In fact I find their english to be rather good.

Cafe Arena is nothing special, reasonably priced for reasonable food. I came in with the boyfriend because we wanted a vegetarian breakfast. Greeted by pleasant staff, who gave us good enough service, but nothing spectacular. The food itself was okay but we weren't wowed by it. We both ordered a full vegetarian breakfast with a side of chips. The chips were bog standard frozen chips, and the vegetarian sausages were simple potato and cheese sausages, not unpleasant but nothing to write home about. The 'Veg and Squeak' was a pre-made vegetable and potato patty, probably a veggie burger. Not awful just not what I was expecting. They did do a soya latte which was lovely however. We probably won't visit again but if we do we will not be ordering the veggie breakfast as we could probably have made it at home, and made it better, instead of frozen/ from a packet.

Popped in for a breakfast and coffee. I chose the double breakfast which means two of everything. Cooked to perfection and a good coffee to wash it all down with. Good clean premises and attentive staff.

It was the first time I've been in this café. My daughter and I enjoyed our visit. We were surprised and pleased with the waitress service. There are tables both inside and out, I can recommend this café.

We were received by a well-presented and friendly waitress, who dealt with our order efficiently, without fuss. There was a good selection of sandwich fillings to be seen and a good variety of sweet baked items. We had a very tasty & good quality coffee plus a mug of first rate tea, with its own generous jug of milk. My husband remarked that the chocolate muffin was probably the best he'd had anywhere, while I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience of a "Rocky Road"! For a neat little sidewalk cafe, the Arena gave a very pleasant atmosphere and a nice break from the hub-bub of a Saturday morning city and the prices were surprisingly good. We'll be back!

Everything was too much trouble for the staff; in spite of serving salad as a main they could not offer one as a side salad and when we asked for a cored and quartered apple for our toddler we were advised that they "didn't cut things" and were issued a blunt knifeThe food was mediocre at best and not particularly cheap, really don't bother

Came here the other day with my girlfriend. We have been a few times for lunch and every time the food is amazing. Service is good, is a slight language barrier but when isnt there? Great food, great prices, cant complain, would recommend and will definately return!

During a rainy day in Cambridge we needed somewhere to eat and this was the choice, next door was empty so decided against there. The food was good and good value.I would not rush back here because of the service but I would return for the food.

Headed here for breakfast and it was quite disappointing. The lady who served us could barely speak any English and we had to repeat ourselves several times, even when we were pointing to the menu on the items we wanted to order. The only credit I will give them is that the coffee and chai latte we ordered was quite nice. I ordered bananas & honey on toast, a simple breakfast which you would expect to be easy. My whole meal toast was like cardboard, low quality and stone cold. The butter was so hard I couldn't spread it. I was given 2 pieces of bread on a plate with a whole banana on the side and honey all over the plate?! The banana had been in the fridge and was black for the most part. I ended up trying to make the best of the situation and making a mess having to spread frozen butter and cut up a manly banana. Partner ordered porridge which came looking like wallpaper paste. Overall not an amazing experience and left feeling still hungry and deflated!

I came in for lunch on a Sunday expecting great food as it's always quite busy inside when I pass. I paid £4.95 for a tomato, mozarella and basil omelette which used DRY SEASONED HERBS instead of FRESH basil and had a few measly pieces of tomato in it. I specifically asked for crunchy chips but they were served to me soft and soggy. The side salad was a bunch of lettuce leaves with a few red onions and cucumbers. I can't believe they had the audacity to serve me this!The coffee I ordered had way too much caramel syrup in it, it was like drinking sugar.I will honestly never come here again.

A very good experience. Prompt service, generous portions all provided with a smile.Not expensive, and worth a visit.

Out shopping with the wife and we dropped into Cafe Arena for coffee as we approached the door it was opened for us by the waitress and we were greeted and made to feel very welcome the coffee was great by the way. It was bit early for us to have lunch but l did take a look at the menu and l have made a mental note to go back and eat there

Have been her twice recently, the first was for breakfast with my two boys and more recently with my wife for a quick bite. The full English Breakfast was great and the sandwiches were simple but very nice. Service has always been pleasant and the cafe itself is quite small and has an independent feel to it. We will definitely go again.

Five of us drove down from home, jumped on the park & ride and arrived very hungry. The cafe was pretty busy and no tables were available outside on the precinct. We liked the look of the menu especially the variety of dishes available so in we went. We had five quite different dishes... jacket potato, crepe, omelette, panini and salad. All arrived promptly, all were tasty, all were appreciated.The service was good, the portions generous and the large table inside gave us plenty of room. We chose the Arena by chance and had no complaints.

It's the only place I know that serves crepes (especially savoury ones) and they are good.The environment is very nice.Unfortunately, there are too many staff: they are always on the way, bored, chatting around... it's quite annoying.

My husband and I had lunch at cafe arena just before Christmas. He had an all day breakfast, I had an omlette. Both were fine. We had tea as well. Before we had ordered anything other than the tea, as he had a bad cold my husband asked for a cup of hot water to make up a lemsip, explaining that it was for medicine. When I was paying the bill, the lady at the till went to ask someone something, but we didn't know what it was and no change was made.After we'd left the cafe and were on our way home, my husband checked the receipt and realised we'd been charged £1 for the cup of hot water. This would have been sort of fair enough if we'd just had one drink between us, and the hot water were like another drink - we would have been taking up a space that could have provided lunch income. But we had a full lunch, and two drinks each, and had still been charged. It must have been this that the lady on the till had queried, as it was probably added on before we'd ordered our food. But the cafe took the decision to keep it on the bill even when noting that we'd had a full meal.we'd had a good lunch - shame to have it spoiled by something so petty. There are so many cafes around, even on Burleigh Street itself, that there will be no need for us to go back, and we'd advise others to check your receipt!

writing these review on behalf of my partner who came in here for a typical English breakfast. What he got served was, microwaved bacon with the fat sitting on top of it and no browning of it at all, two sausages which were split down the middle and put on a hot plate, can only presume this is because they are afraid they won't cook in the middle properly, toast that was cold, mushroom chunks that were ok and ok baked beans. As he doesn't eat eggs he asked for an extra sausage or bacon which wasn't received. After the awful breakfast and a cup of tea, the bill came to a depressing £7.90.

Quite intrigued to see the variety of reviews on here. Clearly it wouldn't survive Asa business if it were as bad as some claim to have experienced.We were pleasantly impressed. We just wanted a quick brunch to fit in with other plans. Service was friendly and attentive, food options are extensive, we ordered an omelette and a panini. Food came quickly, seemed to be freshly prepared and was tasty. Coffees were good too. It's even licensed if you want that. Prices very reasonable too. Would definitely go back.

Visited at the weekend for some Brunch with my other half. The place was well laid out, the staff were attentive and polite. The food arrived quickly and the freshly made fruit juices where scrumptious! Also had coffee and cake (freshly baked) and were a delight as well :) Great place would recommend highly.

Looking for some where to have breakfast before my appointment and came across this little gem. Clean, inviting and warm with an interesting menu that's not over priced. I would recommend dropping in

I visited this café with my wife who is heavily pregnant and had a craving for a full English breakfast. We were greeted politely by the waitress who after serving our drinks took our food order. My wife ordered a full English and I ordered beans on toast with a side of bacon. My wife was not asked how she would like her eggs cooked and walked off. We quickly caught the attention of the waitress and asked how the eggs came. When we were told fried my wife asked if they could be changed to scrambled. the waitress came back from the kitchen telling us the chef wouldn't change the order as he had already started to cook the egg! After explaining how my wife is pregnant and cannot eat runny eggs the waitress said she would ask the chef. We heard nothing more until the food arrived eggless! After complaining the chef leant over a counter to rudely and loudly tell us that the eggs carry the same risk if they are fried or scrambled and would not serve us eggs! We explained that after 9 months we probably know what eggs my wife can and cannot eat and we were made to feel as though she had gone in and ordered a cigar and double Vodka. There was no deduction on the bill and all together we left in a hurry.On a side note my toast was not cooked and was just soggy bread.

Staff at cafe Arena would not redeem my voucher although it was still in date. If I did not purchase voucher I would not put my foot into that establishment . Place is a real dive and staff is unhelpful . Do not use it . Lovely eating establishments further down the road.

The mark of a good restaurant is not necessarily its size, but the quality of its food and the generosity of its staff. Along that line, some of the finest dining experiences I've had in cambridge has been in small tucked away restaurants/cafés. Cafe Arena is not among these gems.Upon arrival my family and I were welcomed with a smile from the waitress and shown to our table. If I say that this was the only compliment I can give this establishment, please believe me I am certainly not exaggerating!!!!The tables were sticky, the high chair was filthy, however the waitress caught the look of disgust on my face and was quick to apologies and clean.After ordering 2 English breakfast for my wife and I, after a small wait we were both presented with a breakfast that looked like it had been sat on the side for about 10 minutes. The beans, mushrooms and toast were cold. The eggs were as rubbery as a welly!!!! They were completely hard and stone cold.... I complained to the waitress and she was very responsive. She apologised and said she would get the chef to make fresh eggs and toast and warm up the beans and mushrooms. As our plates returned I had been given the same eggs which had just been warmed up and now even more rubbery than ever!!!! The beans and mushrooms had just been nuked in the microwave and the toast hadn't even been touched. Straight away I again complained to the waitress and after demonstrating how rubbery my eggs were she laughed and said this time I will get the chef to change them. At this point I had enough. My wife and I ate what was edible which wasn't much and shortly after I asked for the bill. Another lady came over which I assume was the manager and made some feeble excuse about they were having problems with their grill. They offered me a pitiful 10% off my food bill. She looked at me like I should be grateful....... The only recommendation I can give is to avoid this place completely....

The food is delicious ,cafe also stylish and service excellent .we always eat in Cambridge the children enjoyed the everything and cake was amazing .Definitely recommend the place

Quite how such a nasty venue can exist in the centre of Cambridge amazes me. My daughters were almost in tears. Avoid!!

I went into this establishment with my elderly Mum today and were attended to nicely by the waitresses and given a table. Drinks arrived, we ordered and then waited, after waiting a while and seeing others get their orders, I queried it with one of the waitresses who went into the kitchen and promptly returned with our orders. We had ordered two savoury creeps which were infact the incorrect ones and one was cold in the corner. A man, who I presume was the owner came out to see what the problem was. I explained the issue and was met by some rude comments like "what do you expect me to do with this food now, it is wasted". He didn't want to hear anything I had to say and asked us to leave. I offered to pay for our drinks but he didn't want that either, at least he saw some sense there. My mother was very distressed as was I. If they think that is customer service, then they need to up their game. Won't be going there again and certainly won't be recommending it to any go my friends or family.

A great little escape from the hustle and bustle of Cambridge, best coffee in the area and much better than the chains, definitely worth a visit, I will be back for sure.

I took my young daughter in this morning for a pre-cinema breakfast, and wish I'd found this place sooner! She was after some beans on toast, but once we looked at the extensive breakfast menu we were both tempted into something more adventurous. We shared the generous American breakfast, which was cooked beautifully and came with a fresh apple juice (they literally juiced the apples right there and then) which my daughter declared "the best juice ever". I had a nice strong coffee - they also heated the milk and served it on the side, which was a thoughtful touch. The service was cheerful and attentive throughout. We loved the interior, which is really informal and feels personal, marking it out from a great many chain cafes you could go to nearby. I noticed that they have a selection of what looked like homemade cakes, too - definitely a place we'd come again when around the Grafton Centre area.

Popped in here for coffee and a cake. Nice attentive staff who preempted your needs. Nice and warm on a wintry day too. Very nice muffin indeed and the carrot cake was nice if a little dry. Good coffee and decaf tea. Good value and would definitely go again while doing the rounds of the magnificent range of charity shops on Burleigh St.
