Tesco Cafe Clacton in Tendring

We eat here most weeks either for breakfast or lunch (sometimes both!!) and I can honestly say you will hard pushed to find better. The staff are fantastic, friendly, efficient and nothing is too much bother for them. If asked they will adapt the meals to your preference without any complaints. The fish and chips is still the best in Clacton, fish is juicy with lovely crispy batter and no grease, chips are the same. I can not praise the staff or cafe highly enough.

What has happened to the Tesco Breakfast . They should pay me to eat this .certainly not the other way round . The chef needs retraining in how to cook . We have a standard breakfast of greasy fried bread and I mean greasy , an egg with the white that isn’t cooked and is all slimy like a jellyfish , hash browns that are just fat ball like wedges , a limp , just cooked more fat than bacon , rasher , a sausage that could of walking away on its own and baked beans . Oh and for drinks we have coffee served in Olympic sized cups with the smallest of handles to support it to your mouth . If you shop at Tesco then avoid the cafe . Fingers crossed Morrisons bring back their restaurant as this was amazing , as I am not returning here . There’s plenty of better cafes to eat in locally than this excuse for one . Horrible.

We had a lovely breakfast here with a nice coffee, for what you pay, which is a very cheap £4.95 for a breakfast the quality is good. You might not be blown away by the food but for the price it’s a nice meal.

Had a poor meal at Ipswich Tesco Cafe and contacted customer service - we were given a complimentary meal our local Tesco Cafe in compensation. We had our meal today at this Cafe. The Manageress Sian was expecting us! We ordered and sat at a clean table. The cutlery was wrapped and sealed in a napkin - clean cutlery - coffee was great - brunch and breakfast was very good. overall good experience - Sian the Manageress came and checked we enjoyed our meal. Will visit again.

Popped in for coffee and cold drink. My husbands coffee was good and cold drink in bottle came with a glass and straw. Pleasant waitress. Well done

We are frequent visitors to the cafe, at least once a week for brunch when we are shopping and really can not fault the food, if you have a preference as to how an item is cooked just ask and they are happy to oblige. As for their fish 'n chips at lunchtime, it is fantastic, the fish batter is deliciously crispy and there are no soggy chips that most chips like to dish up. Just give it a try! Staff are friendly and efficient, tables are quickly cleared and kept spotlessly clean even though they are understaffed. It is highly recommended by us.

Been here for breakfast a couple of times... the staff are very busy but still very friendly, helpful and polite. The food is generally good and good value for the price. Coffee is good here t both times I have been here, I've ordered 'the brunch' and both times after leaving... I've realised they forgot to give me the avocado... so check when you order that they remembered to include it on the plate!

Always good value. Simple but cheap while doing your shopping. Saves the hassle ofcooking when you get home with loas ofshopping.

I went to Tesco today and the experience was bad to say the least the serivce was appalling the food was on the hot plate for 15 mins beacause the lady was busy doing other jobs by the time we got our food it was nearly cold so we sent it back immediately when it came back the chips were hot but the rest of the food was still Luke warm what are Tesco doing it is terrible.

I visit Tescos Cafe Clacton on Sea every morning for my `fix` of Cappuchino.. Ive always found the Manageress and her staff to be very polite and very helpful. Never found the tables dirty, not even a crumb on them. Also the cutlery is always nice and clean. I can honestly say im NOT devoid of my senses or EVER from a pigs trough as written by EssexSkyraider. I enjoy my morning in Tescos Cafe Clacton on Sea. And will continue to do so.

The food has generally been fine here, although we have encountered this incredibly rude female staff member far too often. She's loud and insulting and doesn't care how she speaks to and about people in front of them as well as in front of others. It puts me right off going there again. Will go to ASDA or Morrisons instead.

Visit this Tescos every morning for a wonderful Capuchino. Best in town. The Manageress are her staff cant do enough for you. Meet friends here some mornings to. Will keep visiting as long as i can. Keep up the good work Manageress and Staff.

Typical bog standard Tescos supermarket cafe. Greasy spoon microwave slop thrown on a plate. Crap service.Dirty cutlery.Indifferent staff who couldn't care less. Clearly anybody who has recommended place are either devoid of their senses or only eaten from a pigs trough prior to eating here. The continental supermarkets are in a completely different league serving decent food & wine. Same old crap..

We visited here today and ordered 2 eggs benedict and waited for ages, noticing that people behind us in the queue had been served. We went to ask where food was and we were fobbed off with the lie that microwave was broken even though we could see other meals being served. The sullen manageress said our meals were being plated up-10mins later we got our money back and left, total rubbish lying service, avoid

Popped in for brekkie before shopping, daughter had a breakfast which she said was lovely, I had the cheese & tomato omelette with mushroom and toast...omelette was really tasty with plenty of cheese and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Cappuccino's were lovely.. Staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. Tables were clean and cleared promptly. Cafe was almost full so obviously other people found the food etc greatly improved, hope it continues!

Food was mediocre, we had to send back a Breakfast because the Sausage was over cooked, the Beans were Cold and the Hash browns were under cooked, after waiting 20 minutes for it. After sending it back, the Beans weren't much hotter, and the Hash browns were the opposite end, Over cooked. I understand that it's a Tesco cafe, but you would expect a decent Standard of food. Ecspeically for the price. Overall would not recommend unless it's your only Choice.

It's Tesco so lower your expectations and you won't be disappointed. Only place there now to get snack and drink since the burger van has gone from the carpark. Nothing special but ok

Friends needed to get some shopping in Tesco.s..so whilst here decided to have a breakfast..has to be the worst ever..total RUBBISH..will never eat here again.

Me and the hubby went for a fry up after shopping, ordered and paid and went to get the cutlery, most of the forks were covered in food where they hadn’t had a thorough wash! absolutely stuck on made me want to gag! I got a few out the pot and showed the lady who was “working” there to be told “it’s not her department she does the restaurant side not the kitchen side” then sat on her bottom by the till chatting to another “restaurant worker” while the poor lady on the till was running around doing it all as she said they were under staffed that day, the other 2 restaurant workers had no intention on helping her or changing the cutlery letting others be disgusted too! Not good won’t be having again.

Whilst doing shopping ..decided to stop and have a coffee and snack..it was Ok ..but the man sat next to me had a breakfast..he did not look happy..and when we spoke..he said it was the worst he had ever tasted..so I will not be having breakfast there.

Coffee only visit . However it was ok cup of coffe and teh tables were clean. Value was ok so would return.

It's ok but don't go here thinking it's any good in my opinion it's the same as any cafe down any back road

We had a lovely meal here and a couple of pots of tea and some coffee! I had chicken and ham pie with mashed potatoes, peas and gravy, and my husband had Chicken Tikka Massala with rice. Both meals tasted good, but my husband thought that there was not enough rice with the curry, for his liking. The tea was good, although prices have gone up since we were last there a few months ago. The toilets really need updating and more regular and thorough cleaning. I am grateful that there are customer toilets, but please try to keep them clean and tidy a bit more often! We will return the next time we are in the area.

Popped into the Cafe for the first time as I hadn't had breakfast and was really hungry. The Cafe looked clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and courteous. The customer service is the only reason why I gave the place 2 stars.

El café ha sido reformado y ofrece un lugar relativamente agradable para una copa rápida y aperitivos. Pastel de pistacho y lima interesante y un bollo de queso muy cursi tomó nuestro lujoso. Agradable tener cosas compramos a nuestra mesa. Todo muy bonito y limpio.

Visitamos por el desayuno antes de ir de compras. El personal era agradable. La comida fue muy decepcionante. Mi hija tuvo la gran desayuno, el tocino era grasienta y poco hecha (FAT), todavía era blanco cocinado y salchichas eran menores primas (sólo parecía ligero tostado de la piel en una zona pequeña) y los huevos estaban mal cocida, en la cima de yema (todavía crudo y viscosa). El tocino en el rollo era también grasienta y debajo de cocinado. Lo único bueno fue el capuchino, era precioso. Una pena, ya que la decoración está muy mejorado desde la reburbishment. Es triste decirlo, no volveremos.

Pedí un desayuno y fue con nosotros a menos de 6 minutos. La comida era, como nos gusta, caliente y fresco. Los miembros de el personal, amable y atento.

We went into Tesco Café today and had a shock since our last visit all changed now a more up market type of café has enter. But one major issue the boards behind the counter high up are frankly far to small to read plus so many board make it seem cluttered. My wife sadly has some limited vision and she said I would struggle, but I heard the scream go up ask somebody, yes but you know how nice it is just to to be independent than asking excuse me, plus what about those behind you. We had a shock as they bring your drinks and food to you I would recommend it but please sort out those food boards plus think of wheelchair people again items to high and what about asking at the till can we get you any item would your Guide Dog / Assistance Dog like water? Go a long way to make us feel welcome

The REFURBISHED Tesco Cafe is a superb Café, as they describe it, from just sandwiches to a full three course meal your covered and the Staff, prices, service and cleanliness are superb in every way. I have been here now a total of five times to meet colleagues and will be back tomorrow with no hesitation to meet some more. It is convenient to fill up with Petrol here, you normally will not find cheaper in Clacton on Sea, and the new refurb to the café is just brilliant. From Sandwiches to a Full meal, You're covered and yes, they cater for children with a smile on their face. In fact, they always seem to have a smile on their faces which is always a good start as soon as you walk in to anywhere. .

First time here at the newly refurbished cafe and definitely an improvement in decor.We shared a large breakfast (we asked for two plates) and it was sufficient for two. I think the bacon must have been steamed as it looked pale and tasteless so I couldn't eat it as I like bacon well done and crispy but that's my taste so they must cook for the majority which I understand. Staff were happy and helpful.

Went for breakfast, was a long wait, couldn't see the reason, the food was good when it arrived though. Nice large plate full of hot food. I had the vegetarian breakfast and it was very tasty.

Visited for breakfast was very impressed with the cafe. Staff friendly service with a smile nothing too much trouble. The cooked breakfast was tasty and good standard.

I got food poisoning from the chilli con carne on Weds 10 Aug 2016. I have been very ill. I will contact the authorities to try and prevent this from happening to anyone else. Possibly due to bad storage, who knows.

soft drinks overpriced £1.99 in café on Tesco shelf £1.19 all day breakfast sausages had large amount of fatty pieces in them bacon done to a crisp very hard noisy lots of high pitched bleeps. very basic menu

drab decor, bad selection, just rubbish all round very depressing, this tesco is one of the worst.looks grubby and smells

Suprisingly good cafe for a Tescos as this is not a branded costa or whatever, but independant of cafe chain influence and all the better for that. Food prpared as required and of a good standard. Try the fish and chips or the set breakfast both are better than good value. Strange to say but this is one of the better cafes in Clacton, but it is!

Went to the cafe at the weekend in the afternoon and their was the chef and some women messing around while another girl called Becca was trying to do everything herself.When I got my food it was cold and dry Mocca was warm.

Food offer is great value plenty of choice prices very good but nicest thing they offered was a drink to my Assistance Dog with out me asking such a nice thought with great kindness Yes for the shopping weiry great value

Looked forward to having the cooked breakfast as advertised on board, when got to the counter it looked awful, dried up and we wasn't there late in the morning,Tables hadn't been cleared yet there was two staff just sitting talking amongst it all,

Decided to stop for an early breakfast and was surprised how good and tasty the food was, hot and well cooked and good supermarket value. Only giving it 5 stars because I did t expect too much but would definitely have breakfast here again

This cafe has been turned into a Harris and Hoole. Food is basic but ok for the price. The atmosphere is casual relaxed. There was some disappointment in that food did not come with nutritional information which does not people with medical conditions that require them to watch what they eat. However the food did taste good and the only drawback was the tables which were to small.

Cheap easy plenty to choose snacks hot food main meal type sandwiches easy for wheelchair users plus can leave your trolley you used near by if you got shopping in it. Disabled toilet but be warned some able bodied use it! Parking in blue badge bays a huge joke!!!

Dont expect gourmet food here, do expect simply food that is ok for busy shoppers. A decent menu offers a good breakfast and tea or coffee.Can get busy and untidy tables at times, but staff helpful and polite.........!!

The only thing I can say to anyone thinking of going here is DONT. The food is terrible and the service even worse.Me and my wife went to have a bite to eat before we went shopping omg. I think they must give there workers alcoholic breakfast or something the young man served us, absolutely stank like he had just had a good old drink. His eyes were blood shot and he looked like he needed his bed. I most definitely would not go back here again Need I say more? Oh yes it's not very clean either.

Had a good dinner, couple of pots of tea, no room left for puddings. Good service. Good value for money.

Not the best of food,but what do you expect in a Supermarket.OK for a snack if you are really hungry,otherwise stay clear,lots of better places to eat.

Late lunch on Saturday . No prepared hot food available but a limited choice of cooked to order dishes. Well cooked and well presented. Excellent value for money. Great fish and chips.

Put it this way, everything they have on the buffet breakfast is obviously from their cheapest range. Maybe I'm just being snobby, but it's the worst food I've eaten. The cutlery and plates were also dirty.

No good if you are gluten free. Don't waste your time asking as you get treated bad. Slow service when family were served. There food was cold.

Stopped to have a bite to eat with my two young children aged 2 and 5. There was plenty of choice for them (they make upa kids bag) and they were super pleased. There wasnt as muchchoice for me but i was happy with what i got. Also priced well and nice friendly staff x

Visited cafe with friend for breakfast.It was not a good experience.Stone cold and the toast was burnt.Dirty knifes and forks and the cups had lipstick on(not mine I might a add) They should turn it into a Costa ASAP.I will never visit again.

I can only think that the misguided and utterly misleading 4 star reviews were made by paid members of staff or in exchange for free meals. It does the shop no favours at all to have this ghastly place on its premises. Food..very little choice, no gluten free on offer at all. The whole place was filthy, the tables sticky and uninviting. It cannot be called a Cafe or a Restaurant as that would suggest that something edible was actually available. We decided against a snack or cooked food as soon as we entered the place. It smelled of slightly rancid chip fat. Drinks..Coffee was available from an uninviting bowl of granules on the counter via a communal spoon, the customer operated coffee machine was not working properly and dispensed a dribble of hot water and milk powder once you had selected a clean mug. No explanation from the morose member of staff. I know this is a franchise but really Tesco must have some control over this dismal place. This venue lets the whole store down as that was bright and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful, the exact opposite of the cafe.

Unbelievable!How on earth one can say this is a great family café is beyond me.This must undoubtedly be one of the worst cafes to eat anywhere in Clacton.Unsurprisingly,Clacton is hardly renowned as being the culinary capital of the world with the usual High Street greasy spoon cafes,grotty restaurants,& fast food joints which seem to pervade this equally depressing town.Tescos café is no exception to the rule & is an equally depressing place to eat.Rubbish greasy dried up slop served up on cold plates,dirty tables,indifferent staff,& a totally miserable experience having to queue for ages waiting to be served.Thats if you are lucky enough to find one clean empty table in the first place.Tescos really ought to take a reality check over their quality of food & service in their cafes.Every little helps-but sadly,not in this case.Perhaps it might serve Tescos well if they followed the example of the Supermarkets on the continent & started serving some decent food & drink.And by that I mean proper food,beer & wine.But then,this is Clacton on sea-A la carte food Tescos style.As good as it gets..

Shopping with 4 kids in tow, not always fun! So we stopped for some yummy food, and it was yummy indeed. Plenty to choose from, friendly fast service and the food was very tasty. And i didnt feel like i had to rush. Very nice.

The food is distinctly average at best. The service is what you would have got in the old East Germany, where it seems the customer ithere for the staff rather than the other way round. Plus it's not very clean and smells of stale cookimg oil.

Advertising special meals of the day went to order and was told no hot food on sale very pregnant member of staff very offhand with us certainly needs training in customer service skills. Not up to the usual Tesco standards

Not much else to say really-food not good - Morrisons beats in leaps and bounds. Too expensive for what it is.

Visit here some mornings with my son. Bacon and sausages are nice but hash browns like cardboard and mushrooms arent much better but good value especially if you want to do your food shopping aswell

Food is okay, but i have to ask for a fresh griddle egg etc whenever i go in, and some food is very cold. Toast is like rubber.

This is typical British supermarket fayre.Unremarkable food at reasonable prices.Pity the management don't go on a fact finding trip to the continent to see how a Supermarket cafe should be run with decent food & proper drink.

After a traumatic meal at pizza hut I ate at tesco's cafe for lunch, it wasent the best food, I hade ever tasted but better service, better than pizza hut by far.
