Absolutely awful food , prawn cocktail starters had brown/frozen avocado, Sunday roast, where do I start 1.30pm no lamb, potatoes over cooked obviously kept warm too long, brocoli, parsnips under cooked rock hard, no cracking with pork and beef overcooked , only the yorkshire pudding was worth eating Will not return or recommend Shane staff were friendly and service was quite good Shame as pub is in great location and nice decor inside We live local not too far, haven't been in there for years due to poor food before, some things obviously don't change Go somewhere else save your money is my tip

We used The Crown as a ‘half way’ place to meet up with our son, daughter in law and granddaughter who live in Hampshire. We live in Norfolk. The location, with lovely riverside walks on the River Lea, is perfect. The food is always very good and the service is excellent… friendly and attentive (but not overly so!). Our latest rendezvous was for Sunday lunch. The roasts are scrummy, the pies delicious and my lamb rump was very good. We were served by Kirsty, who was delightful and helpful. Her son was chef that day! A great team effort and one we intend to repeat as often as we can! Thanks Kirsty (and son!) and thanks to The Crown!

i had a lovely lunch, but am furious to recieve a parking charge, when nothing was stated that i could not use there car park!!!!!!

Fabulous setting but awful pub. Made so by the attitude of Simon the manager ( managing he does not ) he is rude and unwelcoming. Shouting at people to join a queue at the bar. That should have been a red flag. Barks orders at bar staff. Another red flag. Bought drinks, one included coke. Went to buy another round, this time he served same drink with Pepsi. Told him I didn’t want that and he argued that I had to purchase another, it was my fault. As a good bar manager you would apologise and change drink. Not this rude miserable person. That product is bus wasted he says angrily. Wtaf? A party of ten of us had just had lunches equating to a large amount plus drinks. The food was inedible. I ordered chicken Caesar salad. It had no dressing?? The chicken resembled cardboard. I’d have let all that go so as not to ruin the day but… if staff (particularly managers) are rude and unwelcoming then I feel very justified in leaving a bad review. The place was dirty. The staff not trained to a suitable standard. The manager absolutely appalling. Thankfully a one off visit. Would never return. There are other pubs that in hindsight would have been the best choice. Big fat NO from us.

I’ve just had the most amazing lunch it was fantastic. I had the trio roast dinner with cauliflower cheese, so did my husband, my daughter had the roast beef with pigs in blankets and extra spring vegetables. Another fabulous lunch after having had a wonderful time at the Lee Valley Boat Centre. We arrived long before our booked time but were made welcome and a table made available for us, a party of 7! Met family here for lunch and a get together. Location by the water is great. The beer on draft was very nice. The fireplace is also nice in winter. However, there were not enough actual chairs to seat everyone, so some of us had to use bar stools for the meal, even though we had booked in advance. Not the end of the world, but this was the start of our experience. The first meal came out 40 mins before the last meal - so half of our party had finished by the time the last few meals had arrived. When we questioned this politely, we were told it was because we had ordered as separate immediate families on different tabs and the chef would cook according to those orders; although the food came out mixed for different families at different times - so I didn't think that point was valid. The starter was quite small but it was nice enough. My main was nice but three of the roast meals in our group went back as they were cold. They were re-heated, but all three needed to go back a second time to be re-heated again. One of the three meals then went back a third time. It still wasn't very hot (except for the plate) - but out of concern for re-heating any further, it wasn't sent back again. We were told that McDonalds wouldn't even re-heat our food to the degree this was re-heated for us - and it was sarcastically said by a staff member 'you're welcome'. We were not rude and we were not being unreasonable about the food being cold and late, so I don't think the response was necessary. We left it there and didn't say anything else. The side orders were also cold and not very nice. Cauliflower cheese dish was cheese part microwaved on top of hard cauliflower, rather than being served as a cheese sauce on fresh veg. The pudding tasted as though it had been microwaved. It was also very small and served on a huge plate which made it seem even smaller. The young staff were actually really polite and you could see that they were trying hard. It was more the manager or older member of staff who seemed to have a defensive approach. I would not visit this pub again because of the staff member's attitude and the lack of food quality, freshness, re-heating, etc. I even saw a recent review where the pub fed back that they're not use to this type of feedback about food quality, yet if you read the reviews back - it's very clear that they are. There's a common theme in the feedback about poor food which should be reviewed more closely. Maybe if you're out walking and fancy a break and an afternoon drink with friends and family, it may be okay. For food and service, I would advise against it, unfortunately.

We went in there for Mother's Day, 3 courses for £27.50 and I must say and my family would agree. ..Lovely! You could not fault it. The food was delicious,the staff were happy and enthusiastic. They were very organised. Well done to all. Like the other person said, it's very hard to find a place like that now, great management.

Came here for Sunday roast on Mother’s Day and what a great choice. They offered a 3 course lunch for £27.50 and it was superb. The portions were great and the quality of food served was excellent. The staff were fantastic and very professional and we were looked after so well that it made our visit very enjoyable and would have no problem recommending this place to all. The pub / restaurant is located on the river and has a huge beer garden which would be great in the summer months. The inside is beautifully decorated and has a lovely atmosphere and is also very dog friendly. If you’re in the area then this is a great location to pop in for lunch or dinner or even just a drink. Don’t pass it by. Well done to the management and all the staff, it’s quite hard these days to find a pub / restaurant where you feel like you have been so well looked after. 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This could be a wonderful venue, magical location and decent building and interior. But After having an awful attempt at a meal a while ago I tried this place again (a friend’s idea). Unfortunately the effort was barely any better. Very disappointing steak sandwich which turned up cold and poor. The chips were ok but warm. On clearing the waitress did not enquire about how the food was. In itself another bad sign but at least I was saved the discomfort of having to tell her it was bad. What a waste of a fantastic opportunity.

The crown has greatly improved over the last year or so - staff are really friendly and very attentive - in particular Karen & Mitchell are very good. Food is now very good and it’s now got a great vibe in the both the bar area & restaurant. Would def recommend

Lovely lunch on a rainy Saturday. Arrived with a nice welcome, two fires were going so it was a lovely atmosphere inside. All ordered a main meal, one thing missing from the main menu which we were told about after ordering it, but then staff were nice about it and we ordered something else instead. Great little pub, in a beautiful setting, 5 minute walk from Broxbourne Railway Station. Friendly staff, good selection of beers, spirits, and wines, and a decent food menu. I went to The Crown on 21st October to a Baby Shower. Never been to the pub before. Had a pleasant couple of hours there. This morning I received a bill for £60 as I hadn't registered my car on arrival. I had no idea that I had to do that. I've never heard of a pub where you have to do this. I spoke to a young lady on arrival and she didn't mention it. Turned into an expensive day.I am an 83 Yr.old pensioner.

What a beautiful pub in a beautiful place near the canal. We met up with family who we hadn't seen for some time and this location is half way between our homes. The food was fabulous and the service first rate and very fast. I can't rate this place highly enough!

Absolutely shocking place to have dinner. One of us wanted roast beef and they had run out of beef! On the other roast they forgot someone’s parsnips which outraged him to the point that he was close to tears. He also said that his potatoes were stale and tasted frozen. The people that had steaks were charged £2 extra for peppercorn sauce and £3 for mushrooms which was not stated on the menu dispute them telling us it was. The roast dinner portion was tiny considering it cost 18! When we questioned the hidden costs at the end our waitress was very rude and was giving us all dirty looks. We all then went home and had serve tummy trouble resulting in explosive bottoms for all. We have all had runny bottoms for the whole night. The salt pots were also disgustingly dirty which is shown in my pictures.
