The two has been scored for the poor service but excellent food. When we arrived, we went to the bar to confirm we had a table booked only to be ignored 3 times until we finally managed to get someone's attention. We were advised to go to table 18 but no one showed us to the table so had to find it ourselves. As we sat down, we were offered drinks. We were not given any food menus. The drinks arrived but still no food menus. It was very difficult to get anyone's attention although plenty of staff milling around. We started to wonder if we had accidentally activated our cloaking devices! 25 minutes later, we finally got someone's attention to obtain menus. A further 15 minutes later we got someone's attention to take our order. My friend asked what the vegetables were that came with the chicken and leek pie, only to be given a blank look. The server went to find out and came back and said "everything". My friend told him what she liked and luckily that was what arrived. The main course of chicken and leek pie was delicious. Once we finished the main course, some time passed before the plates were taken away. We asked for a dessert menu. This did not appear after a good 15 minutes or so, then asked the same server again for a dessert menu. The desserts were delicious, brownie and honeycomb sundae and my friend had bread and butter pudding. The crockery was cleared (rather clumsily as the sundae glass was knocked over) and we were asked if we required anything else. We politely asked for the bill. A couple of minutes later another server cleared the remaining crockery and asked if we'd like anything else to which we replied the bill. We then noticed a Specials board which we did not see when we arrived. At no point did a server tell us what the specials were. Very disappointing as would have had the salmon fishcakes had I known about them. Great food, shocking service.
