Went today for lunch, must say that Sally was the hostess with the mostest, very friendly and welcoming. A real asset to the pub. Food from the lunchtime menu really enjoyable. I had chicken curry, my Mrs had chicken kebab and our friend had a vegetable lasagna, we all had prawn cocktail to start…(classic) No complaints on any score, we’ll all be going back for seconds.

Our group of 30 walkers had submitted an advanced food order a few days ahead of our arrival. We were seated in the restaurant area which we had all to ourselves. The food served up was really tasty and a lot of our group also went for desserts. The staff worked flat out to serve us all. There is a massive menu choice and some nice beers available. Our 2h visit flew by and we began the 2nd half of our ramble well fuelled up.

It was quiet, food was ok, give it another chance. menu is too large. Good effort.

Very disappointing. Ordered lamb roast, meat was extremely sparse and the little bit that was there was dry and tough. Menu says “with all the trimmings”, it was a very small amount of dry lamb, veg, a soggy Yorkshire and new potatoes?! Definitely not worth the money. The delivery time kept being changed as well even though I ordered for a specific time with 2 hours notice

Went for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. I chose Roast Lamb, my friend Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

First my daughter ordered lemonade and lime but got soda and then the bottle of Chardonnay I asked for arrived warm - Ive drunk tea colder than this was. I was told it had not been in a fridge but in the shed with the sun on it - did I want ice !!! No wine list so I went for prosecco which was fine Starter was 'off' so chose again and when they arrived they were passable. Then we waited and waited. We arrived at 2pm and got our main course at 3.50. My daughter's veggie lasagna was ok except it came with chips that she did not get I was presented with a dark brown piece of skate. We all know this is a soft white fish but the chef insisted it was fine - pulling it apart in front of me. What was I supposed to do - pay £27 for it and leave the hard outside that was uneatable and just eat the middle cos he insisted it was not over cooked No apology for any of it - unbelievable

I ordered a takeaway meal for my family. The food was excellent quality, and we are foodies so I highly recommend The White Hart to everyone. The lamb kebabs were excellent and great portion size, salads, chips (very tasty fries), Haddock all tasty. Calamari was also good. Tartare sauce was really nice also. Very pleased with order. The staff there are excellent, very friendly family business. Food was also packaged well for takeaway too. Also catered for my son who is coeliac. Will definitely support local business. I collected the order within 15 minutes of placing the order. Others who were in the pub were highly recommending the Tomahawk steak. We will definitely order or pop in.

We recently had a great meal at the White Hart. The service was excellent and Sally was very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. 3 of us had kebabs from the Turkish menu and the Lamb Shank, whilst the starters were also great and plentiful. The pub itself is a lovely old fashioned pub, and the restaurant area is nice and spacious and very welcoming. The only downside is that we live in Kent and can’t visit more regularly !

We ordered jacket potato, a chicken kebab wrap and a side salad, with crumble and a waffle. Food was all very tasty, zero complaints there! Portions for the price were very small - especially for the wrap, it was tiny. It would be nice if the custard and ice cream were transported separately to the desserts - the crumble had gone claggy in a pool of custard. It would also be helpful if the descriptions were updated, we ordered salad because nothing said it came with salad so ended up with three!

Had my leaving drinks here recently. Service was great. They organised a buffet for me and there was plenty of food and it was delicious. Makes a change from the standard brown spread. I didn't take them up on the offer, but they can arrange music/Karaoke too. Thanks!

An unexpected pleasure!!! The pub is in an old building, and frankly, it looks run down from the ouside street view, but don't let that fool you. Publican, who is, apparently, Turkish served us himself from a decent selection of beers and ciders. My friend who had selected the location for a stop on our cycle ride had informed me of the Turkish connection and the fact that there was Turkish good on the menu. Both of us took that option for our lunch. Food arrivef promptly and was good, actually, I should say it was excellent value even though I thought I'd over ordered as the portion of chips I had with my meal seemed huge but I managed to eat it all. I definitely would recommend it and in the summer there's a largish garden area for sitting out.

First time I have ordered from here but certainly won't be the last. Absolutely delicious food, lots of it and arrived nice and hot. BRILLIANT

Well, where to begin. We booked a table here at 1:30pm for my Mums birthday and arrived around 1:15pm. The restaurant was completely empty which we took as a positive at that stage, as this would surely mean our food would be served in a timely manner. The waitress came and took the our order and at this stage everything was fine. The wait then began, and continued, and continued, with us finally being served our starters some 40 minutes after ordering. After finishing the starters it took an age for our plates to be collected (I would like to reiterate that we were the only ones in the restaurant) and when the waitress did collect the plates she shouted in to the kitchen (starters have been eaten) which we would later learn was a prompt for the kitchen to start cooking the mains! After another considerable wait our mains were served, well I say ‘our’, 4 of the 5 mains were served, the 5th was nowhere to be seen. After 15 minutes of waiting for the missing main, one of our party went up to the bar to question this and was told ‘sorry, the chef cooked the wrong meal so is now cooking the right meal, he is new’ this being the first we had heard of the reason behind the delay and only came to light when we actively pursued. The 5th main finally arrived and can only be described as something that would not look out of place in a fast food restaurant, not something you expect to find at a restaurant charging nearly £20 for the dish. Upon closer inspection of the ‘King Prawn Tagliatelle’ that arrived late, there was what appeared to be a grey hair in the dish. This was pointed out to the waitress whose response was ‘that is strange as no one in the kitchen has grey hair’. The dish was taken back to to the kitchen and the waitress returned with an old brush, stating it must have been a bristle from this brush, though I am not sure how that is any better? By this stage we could not wait to leave and very begrudgingly settled the bill and left. The prices charged in conjunction with the product and service received really do not tally up. I have absolutely no issue paying higher prices for quality food but this was the furthest thing from quality food and service we have ever encountered. I can safely say I will never be returning to this restaurant and would advise others to exercise extreme caution if they are considering doing so.

Love this place. It is an unassuming pub but with absolutely delicious food and friendly service. We bring family and friends here often. The play area needs an upgrade though!

Such a great little pub nice outside area with trampoline and swings for the kids we had Sunday roast was absolutely amazing the food was cooked to perfection great menu as well from lobster to tomahawk steaks proper hidden little gem and the staff were super friendly

We ordered a burger, pasta, chips, and onion rings. It is simple food, but nice and flavourful. It's very pricey for what it is, though.

Friendly pub for lunch with an extraordinary menu (surf and turf!) as well as baked potatoes! You really could push the boat out here if you wanted. We stopped in for lunch after a walk round the marina. Hence the baked potato - which was very good.

I don’t often leave reviews unless it was really good or really bad… my view… DELICIOUS!!! Me & my boy had the Sunday Roast and hubby had salmon. It was the best takeaway we have had in quite a while (hence the review…!!). Two thumbs up (and some toes too…!!)

The burgers where good, but over £7 for a small jacket potato is ridiculous, was disappointed when it came.

This pub now imposes a compulsory 10% service charge (even on a sandwich) which means I will no longer be a customer there. I am always happy to tip but believe this should be at my discretion and not made compulsory; therefore future bookings cancelled.

Best home made lasagna I’ve had in ages, I’m not sure if they’ve recently changed chef or I’ve just not ordered the right thing in the past but the whole group I was with got fantastic meals served. The price isn’t cheap but the quality is top notch.

Had a decent stilton Ploughmans here on a bike ride yesterday, for a very reasonable ten quid. The Abbot ale was on good form and the staff were more than helpful. I will be back!

I am really slow at writing reviews and have been meaning to write one since our first visit to the White Hart in Roydon last year, when our daughter and son-in-law moved to the area. We have had several visits since. The food is always delicious, with a great selection of fish and seafood, but plenty of other delicious dishes to choose from. The staff are always so friendly and patient, and the pub well managed by Mayer and Ness. They went above and beyond, when I had booked a table for 6 on Mother’s Day. Unfortunately, I had managed to book the White Hart in Diss, Norfolk. You can imagine how busy they would be on Mother's Day, but we were quickly accommodated at a table that is not normally used, without any fuss. Wonderful service and delicious food always. I'm looking forward to our next visit!

Sadly the waitress argued with my husband about whether he should ask for salt and pepper and told him he should taste it first. 3 times my husband said "I did taste it and I would still like the salt and pepper." We'd been on a long journey and know this pub well. The food by the way is always lovely. However, there were several men swearing constantly when they were talking in the bar. They advertise family dining, it wasn't a nice place at that time. We won't go again.

Ate here several times while staying in the area to visit family. We were well looked after and all the meals were good with excellent range of choices. The Calamari starter is definitely worth trying as well as the bread and butter pudding for dessert. We will certainly visit again.

Lovely setting Staff very welcoming only made booking about half hour before.Shown to table and given menus drinks orders taken .After few minutes once we had decided what to eat our orders were taken.We all ordered roast my husband had belly pork and our aunt and myself had turkey.Meal arrived hot well presented looked and tasted delicious .Large portions too .Highly recommend this lovely pub with home cooked meals and other meals beside roast on a Sunday which is unusual .

Food was lovely but over changing on the special by pork belly on the board @ £13.95 and got changed £14.95 -£1 over. I ordered a lime and soda I got changed for a large fizzy drink and got charged for a lime dash on top £3.75 for lime and soda joke

This is a great find for food. The pub and restuarant are nothing special, but the food was great. We had a mixed platter to start, which was all cooked perfectly. Then we both had the lamb shank as a main. It fell off the bone, was juicy and lots of meat. I couldn't even finish mine. The kids enjoyed their meals too, although i would have liked to have seen a less obvious kids menu. We'll definited be back. All credit to the chef (our waitress was lovely too).

Out for a family meal. There were 11 of us. The pub was only moderately busy. We had rung ahead to confirm there would be a gluten free option. We all had starters and various roasts (beef, lamb, pork, turkey). 10 of the 11 starters actually arrived. The final starters arrived after everyone else finished and we had asked twice. Maybe fair enough, mistakes happen and all the starters were OK. However not sure what was going on with the roast dinners - bizzare! Maybe it was some kind of meat fusion slop festival. Only 10 of the 11 dinners arrived (perhaps not unexpectedly) and then when the 11th dinner of lamb arrived it was actually beef. This was replaced later as a lamb dinner, Each plate was awash with a lamb flavoured gravy and the Turkey dinner came with bits of beef and lamb on the plate - wow what a bonus! If you like lots and lots of peas this is your place! So how about that gluten free option you ask? Well take the standard roast and remove the Yorkshire pudding and the gravy and there you go. Cheers then! No gravy was actually a blessing. Next time I will order the low calorie option. An empty plate. Without doubt the worst roast dinner I have ever eaten in my very many years of roast dinners. Needless to say I don’t be coming back until things change.

Roydon boasts a couple of great pubs/restaurants, the one we visited a couple of times was ‘The White Hart’, because the food and service was exceptional. Everyone in our (2 adults 2 kids) family were catered for and cleared our plates, which had generous portions. The calamari was cooked to perfection, fish and chips similarly. Pizza freshly cooked etc etc, I could go on…. The waitress (Tues and Wed’s) was really easy going, engaging and accommodating, an excellent quality. Full marks to everyone in the White Hart!

When I went we had the Turkish food and let's just say that was the best Turkish food I've ever tasted, if you haven't tried the Turkish food here you need to.

I used the takeaway service for fish and chips, excellent service and delicious food cooked fresh. Would recommend.

A quaint pub in Roydon. Staying at the Marina and decided to have a stroll there. Sadly all the other pubs seemed to have closed down. Wasn't busy, which was good. Friendly service. Just had a couple of drinks.

After waiting 50 mins for dinner, the steak and kidney pudding was awful, the filling was fine but that was no pudding, the top couldn't be cut with a knife! and had no bottom.

Nice pub in nice town (or village). Car park available. There is beer garden and trampoline for youngsters at the back. Unfortunately no veggie burgers.

Hmmmm, they like to take your bank card and keep it behind the till to "open a tab" but if you question it they get all bent out of shape, after that i finished up my beer and went. If your comfy with a stranger in control of your bank details then this is the place for you

We ordered a takeaway Sunday Dinner for the first time and was really impressed. The food was delicious, we’ve not gone to The White Hart before but will definitely be visiting when it can reopen. The chef was also very friendly upon collection (very easy collection system). Definitely recommend!

Utterly delicious food!! Not only have we (family of 5) loved our food when eating at the White Hart, we’ve been making the most of their takeaway chicken kebabs during lockdown (Part Deux) - they are truly sublime! All helped with being washed down with a cheeky takeaway pint of IPA 😊😊. Bravo chef, bravo!
