I recently had the pleasure of dining at The King’s Head, and I have to say—it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I was lucky enough to be served by an amazing waitress named Lana. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for her—she checked in at just the right times, gave great recommendations, and handled everything with a smile. It’s rare to come across someone so professional yet personable. Thanks to Lana and the rest of the team, it was a thoroughly enjoyable meal. I’ll definitely be coming back, and I’d recommend The King’s Head to anyone looking for great food and even better service

Had a lovely meal at The King’s Head recently! The food was great—really tasty and well-presented—but what made the experience even better was the service. Our waitress, Lana, was absolutely amazing! Super friendly, really helpful, and just had such a lovely way about her. She made us feel so welcome and looked after us perfectly the whole evening. Big shoutout to Lana—you’re a star! Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this place if you’re after good food and top-notch service.

Great location and atmosphere, beers were in very good order. Man behind the bar was a tad grumpy though 🤣.

Good for a drink, service used to be good but now takes forever and the food isn't very nice

Very disappointing. Terrible service, missing drinks, missing starters, only one drink offered on arrival. We asked for more drinks but order never arrived- staff admitted order was never put through. Severe allergy ignored and included in the meal even though we kept asking for it to be checked with chef but was told it was fine. All meals came out cold and some meals were burnt. Very disappointing when supposed to be celebrating a family birthday. Will not go back here again and do not recommend to anyone:

Lovely setting but unfortunately the service was exceptionally slow and all our meals were cold especially all the vegetables. Ordered drinks that did not arrive & all very disappointing. Will not be returning & would not recommend.

Lovely pub, however being disabled i found the toilet not wheelchair friendly and more parking outside required for wheelchair users.

A mothers day ruined by awful service, food took an hour to arrive after booking for 5:30 by which time they only had one roast available from the mothers day menu and only two starters. Food was cold, stone cold to the point none of us could eat it.

I read mixed reviews for here but I must say I always have had an excellent time here. Slow service is often pointed out yet tonight our service was friendly, fast and attentive but not over intrusive provided by Paul. The food was swiftly brought up and freshly cooked and delicious. Another gripe is the private parking scheme and here I think it would be a good idea to remind all customers when you serve them of the need to register their number plate. Thanks to all.

Just had a birthday meal for my grandfather we ordered x2 fish and chips and x2 hunters chicken absolutely outstanding since we last was in there they have really improved we even stayed for a dessert. We will be making a appearance again well done kings head well improved 👍

Very disappointed on mothers day , we was sat next to the store room for 3 hours in total , the starter which was a scallop , king prawn and crab coquille. All we could taste was tuna! Don’t think it had crab in it! No cheese or garlic flavor at all! The mains were cold , the only hot dish was the green veg in a separate pot. Our mains came out before our children’s mains. When we had already eaten our starter. And we had to ask three times for where our dessert was. We have eaten here before and it is normally very good. Unfortunately the management of staff and timing needs to be improved. The worst thing was the waitress doing nothing after asking where our dessert was so we was sat for another hour. Until it eventually came out after getting the manager involved. The bill was reduced but I feel that was not enough to make up for the bad experience.

Absolutely brutal for mothers day, booked for 5.30 and by that time the menu was shortened because they hadn't got the food, but I paid a deposit for that exact menu! My kids went without mains. Drinks would be quicker from deliveroo. Won't be back below is what I received as patè because they ran out of bread. Then brought me half a panini bread

We had a lunch function after a funeral at Greenacres. The staff organised an area for us and a nice light lunch with tea and coffee. A really pleasant location to chat. A lovely old pub which would also be great in the Summer

I recently had some food from the kings head and it was lovely. The food was amazing the service was top notch. I was served by a young lady called Lana and see was so professional and lovely for me. Would definitely be recommening friends to this place.

Just had a very distressed elderly neighbour come round - went to a wake at the Kings Head, didn’t realise he needed to enter his car reg in a machine in the pub and has received a fine. The fine has taken three weeks to arrive and he’s only just within the timeframe to avoid it escalating to £100. Automated payment system moves rapidly through the instructions for payment and is impossible for someone who is hard of hearing to navigate. In better times maybe the staff at the pub knowing that they were hosting a sad event for older people who were likely to be distressed would have taken the time to ensure they understood what to do if they were using the car park sadly that sort of compassion is long gone! Tried ringing the pub but no-one answered - spoke to someone later who told me they were busy with another wake and would have cancelled the ticket but as the gentleman had paid it it was out of their hands. Stressed that it was the customers responsibility to read the notices scattered around the pub and comply with their instructions. No information about parking on their website.

Stoped for a quick snack and a pint , forty minutes for a pulled beef sandwich which was as unimpressive as a sandwich could be. The ends of an uncut loaf which means the smallest two pieces of bread with a couple of chunks of pulled beef. The landlord is unprepared and his staff are doing their best, no wonder this place is falling down. Terrible is my review

Lovely building, but and overall experience and food was horrible! My fish and chips was overcooked and cold. My family's roast was cold and tough and bland. It took ages to get our courses, we arrived at 12.15, and we got our main dishes at 2.30 and desserts at 4pm 🙄😒 Waiting staff were lovely, but looks like the place is understaffed 🥲

We had a reservation at 4.45 post the Santa train at North Weald. The train journey was longer than were told so I called the resturant to explain we were delayed. No one answered so after 2 calls I left a voicemail. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told our table had been given away. We were told we could eat if we ordered immediately but listed lots of food which wouldn't be available to us including no vegetables, roast dinners amongst other options. I don't think they wanted our business. Such a shame as we have eaten here before and have always had a good experience and have recommended to friends. Surprisingly lots of tables in the resturant so not sure why they could not seat us.

Family meal to catch up with my son and his girlfriend today. Travelled from Ipswich and I can honestly say the Sunday Roast Dinners were superb! We will return!

We we're on an anniversary meal with family yesterday, 25th August 24 at 415pm. The availability was poor, and everything we asked for had run out. We went with what they had left.... the steak was overcooked and returned, the chicken burger was overcooked and dried up, returned. Very bad service would not recommend to anyone.

Booked a table but weren't show to one on arrival, no menu was given without us asking. Order 2 roast dinners and they were awful. Boiled potatoes, cold meat and luke warm veg. Avoid for food!!!

The meal was very enjoyable.I had a steak which was cooked really nicely followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard which happens to be my favourite it was very tasty if very slightly too sweat. My husband had calamari to start which was nicely cooked and not too chewy, followed by the chicken and vegetable curry which was delicious.All in all a very pleasant meal, which was made even better by Charlie our waiter who was charming polite and very helpful, a lovely young man

4 of us went for Sunday lunch, 3 had the signature burger and said it was delicious I had the turkey roast and was disappointed the potatoes were awful and the vegetables cold

Went for lunch, no lasagne, no steak sandwich, no fishfinger sandwich, no steak pie, so I had the chorizo (yes that’s really what it’s supposed to be) and the picture is what was served. One hour and 10 minutes later my friend still has no lunch. Compensation was a bag of crisps and a Coke, ironically she was the lucky one. Avoid.

Husband and I and Rollo Dog arranged to meet a friend at the Kings Head - there's always plenty of room in the car park and at outside tables. It was a little chilly so for the first time ever (we've always sat outside previously) we sat inside in the bar. Rollo was made so welcome and offered treats from the "dogs Table" which he accepted with a paw shake. We couldn't decide what to eat, until Louise offered us the bar bites (Three for a tenner) menu and explained how it worked. Well that was it - we were sold. We had six choices which we shared amongst us. I am amazed at how much there was - the mix was excellent and there was plenty for us all. And we even ordered Rollo a sausage which he devoured. The service was excellent, the staff lovely, friendly and chatty and as we left, there were lots more people arriving - and lots more dogs. We will be back

The team was friendly, food was fantastic. Came with my elderly great aunt who has dementia and she is always well looked after by the team.

Went for Sunday lunch and was not disappointed. Service was lovely. Restaurant area was nice and busy. Food was fantastic and even more credit to be given, the chef was off that day and the manageress stepped up and was in the kitchen. Trio Roast was superb. All food cooked nicely, potatoes and gravy stunning. All in all a lovely couple of hours. Little tip, save room for pudding as well!

Terrible. Worst pub ever been too. Staff don't turn up so can't open... Did try 2nd time food cold . Ok if want salad... Only thing going for is it's appearance vintage looks. Shame tho vintage inn the chain don't get there act together and bring themselves update with service..

Very friendly welcome and excellent service from Louise. Couldn't have asked for better! She even made a fuss of our nervous dog and really helped to make our evening happy and enjoyable. The mains dishes were excellent. We had a lovely quiet space with plenty of room for five of us, plus a wheelchair and a dog! Definitely recommend. Hope to go again.

Came for a spot of lunch with my mum who was in a wheelchair. The staff made us feel welcome (as did the locals- helping us in the door! ) and showed us to a table near the disabled toilet. Food was piping hot and lovely. Mum couldn't eat her Lamb (looked yummy but lack of appetite) she was embarrassed but the meal was swifly boxed and she is looking into having it tomorrow. Big thankyou to Louise for making our time with mum special.

We went here because the place we had booked was now different . It was my husbands birthday but we were very disappointed with the meal as two of the items my son ordered for starters were not on . He then had to order something different from the mains menu as again his first choice was not available. When the food did arrive a lot of it was cold and overcooked. . After complaining we did have something taken off of the bill but definitely would not be going again

Have visited before and has always been good. Today, I reckon they were understaffed as the food took a while to come out. Food was good though and the restaurant area is always nice and relaxed.

After many years of avoiding this pub, we came here for dinner, after attending some questionable local pubs who'd run out of food. We arrived three minutes before they stopped serving food, which in some establishments would mean we'd be turned away hungry. Not a problem here, we were greeted by a young lady called Rhiannah who couldn't have been kinder, more pleasant or indeed professional. Really prompt service and excellent food . We also had a very pleasant conversation with Lauren, who was serving behind the bar. I later discovered that Rhiannah was the duty manager, she has all the makings of a great manager, making sure the team were working with her rather than for her. Each member of staff was treated with the utmost respect and seemed very happy to be working with Rhiannah. I've avoided coming here for so long, a mistake i fully intend to rectify.
