I think this pub may have changed hands recently. Atmosphere and staff were pleasant and helpful. However, the food was disappointing for the price. Macaroni cheese was a brick of solid macaroni without much sauce. Monkfish was served without any potato - just sliced courgette. Hopefully they can improve the offering for a more satisfying experience.

Came for Sunday lunch. The good stuff - the main courses were very good, if maybe a tad expensive (17.95 for a roast beef Sunday lunch, 22.00 for mixed roast), though I suppose you get what you pay for. Friendly atmosphere and located in a nice village. The not so good - if you don't like dogs then this place isn't for you. It's full of people with dogs who are in close proximity when you are eating as the place is quite cosy. We were frequently nuzzled by friendly dogs, which is fine, but if you prefer to eat only with humans then this is a problem. It didn't help my wife's asthma. To top it off a dog did a wee against the indoor post next to our table (its owner was obviously embarrassed but too late). Also, 6.95 for an Eton mess which was basically a glass of whipped cream with hardly any meringue and even fewer strawberries (half a strawberry chopped on top) disappointed. With a few drinks each and a tip it cost over £200, a bit hefty for Sunday lunch for 4 people. I don't want to be too harsh as it's clearly a popular place, particularly with dog lovers, but just providing an honest review.

As usual a lovely friendly welcome from Chris and his team at the Fleur. Chris had given us our usual table, thank you Chris. Minnie loved her table reservation 'Minnie and her Hoomans' 😀. Our menu choices were delicious, my daughter and husband had Mussels and I had wild truffled mushrooms on toast. For mains I had a very tasty burger and skin on chips, my daughter had fish & chips and my son-in-law had chicken on cous cous, we all agreed it was excellent as usual. See you again soon.

Our first visit to this beautiful pub/restaurant after recommendations from friends. You feel extremely welcome on entering the bar, the staff are extremely pleasant and make you feel like you have been there before. We purchased a drink at the bar and was immediately offered water for the table 5* for this little add on (IMHO a small details but something you always end up waiting for in some place - not here) and was then seated at our table, upon ordering was firstly asked about food allergies. We had Sunday lunch, my Husband opted for Roast Beef and myself for the Lamb with the cauliflower cheese as a side. THANK YOU CHEF OLIVIA, I did comment to Chris (who we later found out was one of the owners) that everyone needs an Olivia at home!! The food was perfectly balanced, just enough of everything, Olivia clearly knows what customers these days expect and she delivers on all levels. For dessert my Husband opted for the apple, pear and almond crumble with custard, again excellent (two spoons was ideal) The business as I understand is well established, the staff have got it "just right" leaving enough time between courses to check if you are ok and if you need anything more. I look forward to our next visit which will hopefully be for dinner but will definitely be booking for Sunday lunch again. Thank you Chris (and your wife) along with your team to looking after us.

Lovely surroundings, interesting menu…. Ok, for transparency I worked at The Fleur for 14 years until retirement during Covid. It has always been a very well run and fabulously friendly pub. Recently it has had a tremendous makeover. The bar and restaurant areas are beautifully decorated, but the pub still oozes character. Service is friendly as always, obliging and excellent and the lunch menu today (Saturday) was really lovely. A range of pub classics, all of which I knew would be good, but lots of other delicious sounding meals. We had flatbreads and the totally terrific king prawns, but I could equally have chosen most of the other things on the menu. My husband had excellent real ale to drink and we were very very happy with everything. I haven’t been to the Fleur as often recently as I clearly should have!

Having had the pub recommended particularly the Sunday roast we were very excited to get a table although sadly left completely underwhelmed . We had the pork and the beef. Average presentation.. 3 roast potatoes, a couple of broccoli florets and a few carrots covered in watery gravy and a Yorkshire that looked like it was from a packet. I had to send mine back as it was like warm.. Very disappointing for £19 and a staggering £22 for the beef. I should have said something at the time.

We dropped in on the spur of the moment on Bank Holiday Monday. We were lucky to get a table. What I like is the staff are so welcoming, efficient and friendly. We were glad to get there just after midday as we got the last table. The staff were brilliant with people not so lucky as us and were apologetic, upfront and honest when they had to tell people they would either be a long wait or that they could not take any more food orders. I would much rather this than waiting around for ages wondering where my food was. On the whole, people were sympathetic and understood. The food itself was really good. For comfort, we had the nacho's to start and one portion was able for the four of us. Next, my Mum had the goats cheese with peaches, which she loved, my daughter had the warm chicken salad, my husband had the ribeye salad and I had the smoked salmon and crayfish salad. All fresh, delicious and very good. It was lovely to find such a gem, which not only attracts visitors from surrounding villages but is also the hub of the village. Thank for a great meal.

We needed somewhere to stop for lunch and the Fleur De Lys was luckily where we chose. All the staff were very welcoming and polite. We enjoyed some delicious sandwiches next to the fire, which was perfect for a rainy day!

Recommend booking for this busy yet well ran pub. Great food with excellent staff set in the village of Widdington.

9 months after our last visit we went back to the pub (the only reason for the delay is that I live in Oxfordshire, so it's a bit of a drive). Again the owner recognised my learning disabled brother-in-law and greeted him like a long lost friend. Very impressive.

Large amounts of food . Service poor. We had to ask 3 times for water and glasses. The ambience was not there.

Really comfortable and superb rooms. During our stay, the service was slow and we had to chase up. Might just have been short staffed at the time.

Went as a family of four on a Friday early evening. Wasn't greeted before others arriving after us. Sat at table and drinks and meal orders were fine. Food was good and everybody happy. Then after plates cleared away we were left alone for quite some time hoping to see a dessert menu or get more drinks but after half an hour decided to leave and had to go to the bar to get the bill paid. Then generally ignored on way out. Don't know if this is a locals only pub but service was lacking.
