The best restaurants serving British food in East Midlands

I visited with family for Saturday lunch. One of our party is diabetic and the staff adjusted dishes to ensure she had a lovely time with no prior warning. Great service and food as always

Eaten here many times, always excellent and good value. I always compare anywhere I travel to the food here and few compare.

Very relaxing place to sit next to the Ashby Canal. You can get a very good breakfast, lunch or an afternoon tea You can sit inside, or there is plenty of space outside Duck food also available Good place to walk your dogs

Wonderful pub with a very friendly atmosphere and staff were excellent Their Sunday roasts are to die for - well all their food was great and well presented with a classy feel

Enjoyed a lovely lunch today. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was great. Good size portions and the hand cut chips were delicious! Will definitely return.

I haven't been to this hostelry for over 25 years but was very pleased by the excellent beer, comfortable seating and welcoming bar staff. Just a pint and a packet of crisps but so enjoyable.

Our jacket potatoes and baked beans were cold. We should have taken them back. When I mentioned it there was no apology, she said 3 times, "you should have brought them back" the tone of voice insinuating that we were in the wrong.

Spent the afternoon here for a special 80th birthday, food was amazing, we was looked after by Phylis, who was very attentive to our needs. Would definitely recommend the Sunday lunch, Yorkshire puddings were huge.

The food and the hospitality were great, the steak was to die for and I would have given it 5 stars, however having been shopping at Tesco and found out the bottle of wine we had was on sale at £8.50, to have been charged £38.00! was just too much over the top. It’s a shame as it has soured the experience.

Went to Buxton for day trip fish and chips twice two cups of tea £24-00 chips were cold dripping in fat and scabby fish was also dripping in fat avoid this dirty place at all costs I used to work in a chip shop don't understand how they can serve this crap and get away with it

The food was exceptional. Everything about the experience was top drawer. Definitely will return. Highly recommend.

Nice fish good service clean place

Have been going to the Miners arms for 20+ years and have never been disappointed with the food always good quality and the staff are very friendly. We both had the steak and mushroom pie today it was very tasty and the vegetables were delicious. Always have a good real ale on hand pump. The pudding's are very nice as well I had the plum crumble and my partner had the Guinness cake that was really good. Always busy need to in advance.

The best fish and chips in the Derbyshire area.... I travel from Derby just to buy my fish and chips here... The fish is always superb. Well cooked and beautiful batter.... See you again soon.
