The Eyre Arms in Bassetlaw

This is our local pub and we can’t fault the food it’s always served to a very high standard. There is a varied menu on offer and the chefs lasagne is one of my favourites. Last night we attended a Mexican themed evening which was fantastic, food was plentiful authentic and very tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive and ensured the food was served quickly to all tables. Well done to everyone involved a good night was had by all!

Friendly staff, great free stop over in the camper as long as you buy a drink. Dog friendly, everything you need really. Would definitley return

If you want a good Sunday lunch, you will struggle to find better than the Eyre Arms. To start with they serve til late afternoon, where quite a few stop at 2pm. We booked for 3 and there were walk ins while we waited to be seated. The food itself is tasty and hot and plenty. And all at a very reasonable price.

We came in after a day out in Sundown Adventureland with our 2 year old daughter. What we thought will be a "classic " pub grub, we soon realised we were wrong. One of the best gastro pubs we have been to. The restaurant is nice, bright and spotless. The food, all made in house that you can taste chef puts all his heart into. The prices also are great for the plates of food you are getting. Rabbit pie was so tender and the strawberry cheesecake was so creamy and lemony, you could mistake it for a mousse which I say it's a big plus! As a fellow chef I would 100% recommend a visit. We definitely will be returning even if we have to drive over an hour there :)

Excellent. Very nice evening at this local pub , friendly staff nice atmosphere pleasing decor . Mid week evening meal with friends food was excellent , well cooked well presented and plentiful . Reasonable pricing and varied menu

Dreadful Sunday lunch service. Started with being brought a meal out with gravy all over it when I had explicitly asked for a meal without. I then find that the roast potatoes had been cooked in stock how can they be roasted if cooked in a liquid? I was brought a plate out to put the roadt potatoes on but no alternative was offered until I asked, shocking customer service. The rest of the meal was okay, the meat was very tender. We then moved onto dessert, we were told that there were 4 apple and strawberry crumbles and the rest were just apple, we ordered one with strawberries and 2 plain apple, all three were served with strawberries in them, good job nobody is allergic to these as we were not asked. We made them change one of these for an alternative dessert as the individual does not like strawberries! We were told the girl had made an error. Only after finishing all food were we offered a complementary drink due to the errors made, too little too late I am afraid I won't be back despite having a good meal earlier this year, our local pub serves far better meals and cheaper too. The table next to us also had problems with wrong food and were asked to swap 2 meals over despite them having different roast meats, so this didn't just happen to us! I would have refused but they begrudgingly agreed as didn't want to wait any longer for their food. Also our desserts were added to another tables bill do if you do go here check you are only paying for what you have had, we did pay for them. You really need to sort out you staff whether it is down to the waiting staff or in regards to the food mess ups the chef. I often eat out and this is the worst experience I have had in a very long time. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Went to watch England/Spain match Sunday. The pub stayed open for people to watch the game. Would like to say a massive thanks to Rachel and Matt for staying behind to serve drinks. Rachel looked after everyone And Matth did a fantastic mid match snack. Once again thanks.

The menu was extensive for Sunday lunch with a variety of desserts. The prices were very good and the servings ample. The main meals all had 4 vegetables, two types of potato and very generous portions of meat and fish. All of the food was tasty and enjoyed by everyone in our party of eight. Everything was well presented, hot and served efficiently and by friendly staff. The restaurant was full, it seemed to be essential to book in advance. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were fully focused on the customers.

chefs attitude with customers is disgusting, couldn’t even cater for a 6 yr old with a broken arm wanting a pork roll even though other staff members such as Sarah go above and beyond each week. Said they were too busy (all of eight people in restaurant) will not be returning due to his vile attitude and ways. Such a shame.

My wife arranged her 80th birthday party with eighteen friends from our village. We treated them to a two-course meal, drinks and coffee. We'd decided on a roast dinner choice of pork or beef with a choice of two sweets. The roast dinner was excellent, the beef being wonderfully tender and everything else was great. The sweets too were lovely, great job Matt! A special word about the service, the main course was served so that we all started together, drinks came promptly and Claire and her assistant were most friendly and helpful. My wife was delighted.

Wonderful food from a great menu, and very pleasant service from Claire. Full bellies and smiling faces; what more could you want? A gem.

Called in for a work lunch for the second time, always great food and great service at a very reasonable price. Will certainly be back again.

Absolutely fabulous meal with plenty of choice for everyone at a very reasonable price. We all enjoyed what we had and the service was excellent. Will be back for more.

First ever visit with my husband. Greeted with a lovely welcome from Claire. Also nice greeting from the locals who were sitting in the bar with their pints. So, the atmosphere was positive from the start. But even better and warmer than the genuine welcome was the brilliant food from Matt and the caring service from Claire. The food was outstanding, hot, freshly cooked, and generous. The beer is brilliant. The value for money is outstanding. This place knocks spots off many other local hostelries for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere. Our first visit, but certainly not our last. We just wish we’d found the Eryre Arms sooner.

This was a last minute booking that worked out really well. Food excellent, served hot and with very substantial portions. Lots of families with nice atmosphere and very good service.

Great value Sunday Lunch. Clearly all home made. Brisket melted in your mouth. It was all piping hot. Should have been 5 stars, see last comment. Puddings were excellent. Service prompt and efficient. I have docked a star due to potentially unsavory moment. Young male server went to toilets same time as I did and left WITHOUT washing his hands??? Could be argued he did them when he got back to the kitchen but mmmm. Doesn't look good.

The food is absolutely beautiful, the service was wonderful too. The menu choice is excellent on all courses, so much so I'll be returning soon to sample some more dishes! Proper pub food here but with more choice too for those who want it.

Lovely buffet food. Efficient staff. Room we stayed in was very clean, comfy & a lovely view of the village.

The food was more than delicious,served by friendly and efficient staff. No waiting either between courses., it was hot and perfectly cooked. We were met at the bar by a friendly bar keeper, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Best meal I have had for a long time. 5 stars.

Today we were celebrating my sisters birthday there were 18 of us going and have been on many occasions throughout the past year,but today was one of the worst visits . staff miserable looking ,no offer of sauces etc .with our Sunday lunch when I asked for some ,she brought it we were told told by waitress to get some out of dish as she couldn’t leave it on the table . and had to take it back to kitchen.main woman was ignorant , couldn’t crack a smile if she tried well I know i won’t be going back there again until I know there are different staff and I found out later we where over charged so that definitely puts the 🎩 on it . there loss especially as we had drinks as well

We visited today for the festive Christmas lunch. 8 of us in total. We had an amazing 3 course lunch with all the usual festive accompaniments along with coffee and homemade mince pies. The staff were attentive and polite. The chef Matt is amazing and does all the service on his own!! It was absolutely incredible. We recommend this pub, it’s definitely worth a visit!!!

Staying in our caravan nearby. This restaurant served food tonight that is about the best I've had. Absolutely superb. We eat out a lot, but of all the places we gave used, this is head and shoulders above most. Food was hot, tasty, fresh and plentiful, and I am a big eater. If ever we find our way this way again, this will be my number one choice.

We stayed here overnight for a wedding - host is wonderful, and the beds are super comfy & cosy, really struggled to leave in the morning! Very clean rooms, lovely facilities in each room, the attention to detail was fab. Plenty to choose from to drink in the morning, mini fridge available to use & cotton buds in the en suite came in handy!

Only stayed for one night and had the best night sleep ever! The bed is super super comfy and the room is beautiful. The pub is absolutely lovely too, would highly recommend

Stayed here following a wedding and the room was immaculate. One of the comfiest beds I’ve ever had pleasure of sleeping in! The owners are lovely and I would absolutely recommend this place for some great food or a relaxing night away 🩷

Tried this pub restaurant out after reading other reviews. This place is a hidden gem. From the minute you walk in it is friendly and relaxed. It wasn't too busy for a Friday lunchtime. We were shown to our table by Lisa a lovely friendly member of staff. She explained the menu boards up on the wall and there is also a sandwich menu you can ask for. My husband had Yorkshire steak pie with new potatoes and veg and a jug of the loveliest gravy. He said it was one of the best steak pies he ever had. I had a beef sandwich and replaced the onion with horseradish. Now this was a ciabatta filled with tender chunks of beef. This came with the loveliest potato salad and it a very well presented side salad. I also had a side of chips. The portion was more than I could eat but every bit of it was 10/10. We will definitely add this to our lunchtime favourite pubs list. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

This is not a large chain pub but a small business . This is a little gem in the countryside. We are so lucky that this is our local pub and the food is always spot on. We visited on Friday evening and had Fish and Chips and the Belly Pork and it all tasted amazing! The staff where welcoming and friendly as always 😊

Welcoming, friendly, accommodating and helpful team in a lovely setting and serving the ‘most amazing’ food. Sampled their ‘Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas’ and absolutely excellent ‘2nd to none’! Can’t wait to revisit and sample more of the Chefs delightful menu!

A fabulous place for our lunch, we had super baguettes. Very friendly staff and welcoming. The venue is large and bright inside and a lovely sunny terrace outside to enjoy. Thank you.

Just passing on a Sunday and dropped into see if they could fit us in. Well not only did they fit us in with a lovely table but we had a superb meal. I can strongly recommend the menu I was spoilt for choice and finally went for the Stilton, leek, beef and sausage pie…… it was delicious. My mother had the small roast and could only just finish it. Everything was spot on and we will definitely be going back and recommending to all our family and friends. Thankyou

We visit the Eyre Arms regularly and always enjoy Matt’s cooking. Last nights chicken thigh stuffed with leeks and chorizo in garlic creamy sauce with tagliatelle was particularly tasty, as was the salmon fillet with cheese and leek sauce. See you next week!!

Had a brilliant Sunday lunch here recently. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service and friendliness of the staff was first class. Whats not to like.....a real gem of a country pub!

Been coming here for years with my 90 year old mum. The food is lovely and good value and the chef always makes a fuss of my mum. However, the last 2 times we have been made to feel unwelcome. The first time the guy said the restaurant wasn't open even though we have been going at 12:00 for years. I asked him when it opened and he said 'around now'. It clearly says open from 12:00 outside. He said no one goes in at that time and then asked me if I had booked even though it was completely empty!

My in-laws have a caravan only approx 1 mile away at Laneham and we have never eaten here, only visited once approximately 9 years ago!! We wanted somewhere local with an outdoor play area for our 5 year old, no pictures on trip advisor show a play area, iv included some pictures. We arrived at 2pm, no one else eating and only a few people at the bar, this suited us as with my son being autistic anywhere too busy really isn’t appropriate.My son loved the play area and we all had a lovely meal, I have awful luck with eating out, mine always seems to be wrong or not nice, today was a pleasant surprise. We had one pork and apple burger with Stilton, beef burger and kids fish and chips. The lady working today was very helpful, helped my husband bring our drinks and menus outside, friendly. We will 100% be returning and recommending, shame we haven’t been before today. Thank you for a lovely lunch/dinner.

My partner decided to surprise me with a meal out, we used to visit when we had a caravan on the local site so the surprise was welcomed and nice to know that the Eyre Arms was as good as it was 5 years ago which was my last visit.We were shown to our table straight away, our young lady waitress was lovely, explained the soup of the day and highlighted the menus in the chalkboards.The food was lovely, my partner had steak and all the trimmings, he couldn’t eat it all but said it was delicious, I had sea bass, and that too was cooked perfectly.The restaurant and bar is very clean, staff professional and helpful and loved bringing back the memories, may not leave it 5 years till my next visit

4 of us booked in Sunday am. We arrived got our drinks, very friendly service.Ordered our meals (all 4 wanted different ) and everyone was very satisfied All the staff were very friendly.I can fully recommend this pub.We all said we will use this pub again. Good value for money

Visited the Eyre Arms this week with a group of 26 people. We were all seated in the air conditioned conservatory and there was plenty of space for us all. We all selected from the special lunch time menu which is such good value. We had not pre-ordered but we had the option to choose from the special board or main menu. The service and food was excellent and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Congratulations to the chef who managed to serve us all timely. Thanks to the owner who made us very welcome and made every effort to accommodate us. This pub is a little gem and I am certain we will all be returning soon either as a group or individually.

Only booked the table on the day. Staff were very friendly and attentive! Restaurant was busy with Sunday diners and service considering this was excellent. Good selection of Sunday lunch and alternatives. Went for the selection of meats Sunday Roast and all the meats were tender and of excellent quality. No grizzle or fat. Will definitely be visiting again. Many Thanks to all the staff and chefs.

We booked on the day as we wanted to stop for food after a day at nearby Sundown Adventureland. It was a Sunday and we had the mixed meats roast dinner which was delicious, huge plates with lots of meat and veggies. The kids enjoyed the climbing frame outside. We will return.

Visited while passing for an evening meal. Staff were very attentive & friendly, eating & bar facilities clean, relaxing and enjoyable. Food of excellent quality, well prepared and presented & a good menu choice available. Only one minor gripe, choice of accompanying veg a bit limited. Would certainly re-visit if I was in the area again.

Always take my Mum here for lunch when in the area and she’s treated like a queen by the welcoming staff. Always plenty of choice on view but she never waivers from the fish pie. 12 of us celebrated her 90th there without problem.

After having a lovely afternoon baguette on the Thursday we were pleased to be going back with friends on the Saturday.

Called in for an early evening meal and we were greeted by Becky who was very friendly, we then had a drink at the bar, we booked a table with a very polite, nice young man. Food was fabulous, lovely friendly atmosphere and would definitely recommend and call again

Booked a table for 8 at 8pm and arrived early. Bar man not overly welcoming and took ages even to acknowledge us. Eventually shown to a table and drinks orders taken.Waitress initially took one less food order than she should have and in the meantime a family containing 3 unruly children with apathetic grandparents and parents turned up and were shown to the next table. This family were then served first meaning that we had to wait almost an hour before our food was served. Although the food when it came was good by this time we had waited overly long. No one came to offer us more drinks and overall the experience was very disappointing. With "The Ferryboat Inn" in the next village currently closed you would think that staff at "The Eyre Arms" would up their game but I wouldn't hold my breath and we as a group will look elsewhere.

My partner and I visited for a lunch. The bloke came across very rude and seemed more interested in his phone, than serving us.

Went and had sunday lunch at the Eyre Arms in rampton village yesterday. The food was great, more than enough and very tasty. Beautifully cooked and presented. The staff and manager were lovely and the service was great. Have found our regular venue.

Excellent Country pub. Two course lunch £7.95 outstanding value. Also a couple of the local Pheasantry Beers on tap. Quality food served in a lovely dining area at the rear of pub.

Eat here most sundays. Always recommend to friends, family, colleagues. Lovely lunch the best usually. But noticed the potatoes and vegetables are getting very sparse. Just under a desert spoon of mash, cabbage, peas. Don’t spoil a good thing. Sent a party of over 20 people last Sunday and they all said the same. Also ordered drinks didn’t arrive. Sort your staff.

The building itself is uninspiring but the food we had was very nice and service efficient. House wine was also very pleasant.

Yet another wonderful meal, friendly staff and ceoliacs well catered for. Restaurant is light in the conservatory. Booking is recommend for Sunday lunch which is served 12 - 8.

My husband and i have eaten here this evening. The food was fantastic, very generous portions and all served on time and with a smile. After we had finished our food we were not rushed to leave our table and was given plenty of time to finish our drinks. We then went into the bar area and sat by the lit log burner.

Amazing food and drinks. Mabel our border terrier had chicken nuggets and was so spoiled. Thanks for the motorhome stopover will be calling again lovely log fire and fantastic welcome. So highly recommended
