Whilst on 7 day narrow boat holiday on the Oxford Canal we stopped at Sutton Cheney on our way back to Napton Marina. We had planned to stop on our way from the marina but had t been able to find mooring point free. Location is lovely, (nice walk to the Battlefield Heritage Centre). We originally stopped for a coffee, and noted the reasonable prices shown on a converted narrow boat outside that also sold ice creams. There was no one on the boat serving but it indicated to go to the cafe and someone would attend. We did that, but the staff member said we needed a table number to order , so we found a table outside in the shade and then ordered two lattes and were told that they would be brought to us. What I hadn’t initially realised was that I had been charged a significantly higher price for the two lattes than the sign on the narrowboat indicated. Rather than make a fuss we decided to just drink the coffee and not stay and order any food/ice cream. It might be that there is a different price charged for ordering coffee from the boat or ordering from the cafe, however as I had specifically mentioned seeing the coffee advertised on the boat then as a minimum would have expected to have been warned that there would be a difference. I would add that from what I could see at other tables, the food looked nice.

It was a weekend and pretty busy, so perhaps this at least partly accounts for the rather poor meal. Fish & Chips and a Sandwich were the options selected, portions were somewhat sparse (8 chips and a job to find the meat in the sandwich!). The milk shake was the yazoo ice cream-less type at almost £5 a glass, and the coffee was luke warm at best. The staff were very polite, but were run off their feet and unable to provide any real customer service (I had to go hunting for vinegar). I am unsure whether the cafe owner runs the whole wharf area, but that is not "boater friendly" - they would not even permit me to dispose of some recycleable rubbish in their waste area.

After a stroll along the towpath of the Ashby canal we visited Sutton Wharf… what a find!! The cafe itself was well decorated to reflect the canal life and very clean, the staff really helpful and friendly and the food delicious - prices are very fair considering it is cooked to order really fresh and tasty. The lemon cheesecake and raspberry sorbet was a delight. Will definitely be returning. Another plus is the cafe is dog friendly to accommodate the walkers.

Seven of us went for lunch after doing the Battlefield Walk. We made varied choices, and everyone had a very nice lunch, at a reasonable price. The staff were lovely, very efficient and helpful and we didn't have to wait long. There are several alternative car parks, so you could start the walk from a different car park and stop for lunch en-route. We would certainly go again.

My Black Americano was Hot Water and my wife's Cappuccino warm milk and hot water. Both had "little" coffee flavour My Wife's Lemon Pie was still frozen in the Centre. Beyond being sugary it was taste and textureless. Profit over substance can be the only motive here ......That plus the Rip Off which is the Car Park I can't imagine I shall ever frequent this place again.

We called in for breakfast as we were moored nearby on the canal. When we got there the place wasn't too busy and our order was taken fairly quickly, but it is obviously a popular place and soon got very busy. First visit to this lovely spot. The cafe food is excellent. Nothing vegan sadly so we had the lush triple cooked chips, a salad each and sliced gluten free bread, for chip butties. It was lovely and the best apple juice, not to sweet. A slight victim of their own success as had to shut for half an hour and turned people away in order to catch up with orders. Very popular but well worth a visit.

Stopped with a friend for a hot drink and a piece of cake. One of the cake on their board took my fancy. No price display but expected it to be similar to all café we usually visit. I also added a large hot choc. Was expecting similar price as most café. £9.60. (£4.85 for a large hot choc, without any fancy cream, marshmallow, syrup... I checked later on their menu, add all options and it could set you back £7.90! This put the cake at £4.75, definitely on the pricy side). Taking the mickey. Add to that that it took 15 minutes to get it (and 20 minutes for my friend to get his cake and a cappucino) when it wasn't really busy. Cake was OK but hot choc was more like hot milk. Total disappointment. For once I was trusting prices to be similar to other places, thanks to you no more trust in places who don't display their prices. Two things are sure: I'll keep asking for a menu from now on ... and I won't return to this place.

This place is fantastic! I visit every couple of months and while on the pricier side the food is brilliant every time. The staff are friendly and walking down the canal side is good at most times of the year. I would also like to state while the front car park needs re-surfacing it is not under the jurisdiction of the cafe and if you are older and struggle on uneven terrain the rear car park is well surfaced. I wish they would do the odd evening event! Would be a nice date location by candle light.

It’s the perfect place to walk the dog even during the winter months; floods and frost make it all the more exciting. Yes the car park has a few potholes and mud as mentioned in a previous review but it’s not the sort of place you come to wearing stilettos is it! The cafe itself is warm and welcoming. Very dog friendly. And the freshly cooked food is fabulous. We had the full English, again. Top quality ingredients and the black pudding is made onsite by the chef! The service can’t be faulted and I can’t leave without two of their fruit scones - these are fresh baked every day. They came to our table boxed ready to take away still hot from the oven. I look forward to my next visit with relish

We have visited the cafe many times before or after our circular walks. I am afraid we will no longer visit until the craters in the car park are attended too. We have complained of the situation but to no avail. It is impossible to work around the pot hole craters and we fear now for our vehicle. Whoever benefits from the car park charges, sort it , it is a disgrace..

One of our regular places to stop off at 'coffee o'clock' following a nice walk through the woods and back down the canal. Dog friendly which is increasing important to many people visiting this area. Great menu. The breakfast menu is good and it will set you up for the day. Coffee/ tea and cake are good too.

Hi, we go here regularly to walk the dogs, and have a cuppa and a bite to eat when we get back to the car park, however, on sunday, we ordered as usual and then saw a little note that there was no internet, now i understand this does happen, but apparently it didnt work the week before either so there was a whole week where it should have been sorted, plus they would have lost a fair amount of custom, including ours, because not many people carry cash any more, we certainly dont unless its a pound for the car park,,so they missed out,,we technically didnt, as we went home and had something at home, but i was most unimpressed to learn it had not been fixed for quite some time..

We went for a family lunch here and it was absolutely gorgeous. We had a great table in the window, sun was shining, canal barges and ducks passing by, lovely service and the FOOD! The best fish and chips I've had outside of Cornwall - incredible home made chips and also incredible slow cooked pork stew special, with home made plum crumble for after. Some of the best food I've eaten in the West Midlands. the lady who runs the cafe was lovely, friendly and chatty. Can't recommend it highly enough. (Also the prices are a total bargain for the quality home made food.)

Just been to this cafe for lunch. And whilst usually the food there is lovely we were disappointed in the quality of the Panini my wife had. It was supposed to be pulled pork, but there was barely any pork in it and what was there was more akin to a pork spread and all she could taste was cheese.

Beautiful little cafe which was a welcome rest stop on our visit around Bosworth, on a very hot sunny afternoon. Unfortunately our drinks where not ice cold but with plenty of ice it was a well deserved break. Nice friendly staff, clean cafe, and lots of outside seating.

I have popped in a few times for a drink whilst walking from either Bosworth Heritage Museum or the other way. Lovely cafe, relaxing and fast service on busy days. Would definitely recommend.
