We had our wedding here on 06.09.2024 and the venue and staff were absolutely amazing. Service was perfect, the service during the dinner was spot on, it all ran so smoothly. Very organised and Anoop was brilliant at helping us bring our dream wedding to life. The meal was absolutely amazing, everyone was commenting how lovely it was. So grateful that Royal Arms were able to deliver such a special day for us. We were not the easiest crowd to manage (lots of drinking lol) but the staff were happy and polite, never once got a bad vibe from them. And the next morning they set breakfast up for us beautifully 🩷 couldn't wish for better service. We all loved the hotel rooms which were comfortable and the bridal suite is amazing. Thank you to Anoop and the Royal Arms team Lauren and Dane x

Room was clean and cozy, a little cold when we arrived but turned the radiators up and when we came back the room was a nice temperature. Staff were really helpful and professional. Food at the bar was really nice and would recommend dinner there. The location is remote so it's nice and quiet but it does mean you would need to drive if you wanted to go out.

Well... really good service and choice of drinks and the meal I had was awesome (lamb) and the waiter checked with Chef to make sure the meal was on for my allergy. BUT my husband wasn't so lucky; I think it was either a different Chef(?) or they rushed his meal - the steak was under cooked (rare not medium rare), the chips were a bit hard (originally frozen?) and went cold quickly plus the onion rings were probably just frozen ones warmed up 😔 We paid over £50 (excluding drinks) and were really disappointed. He left half his meal and the server agreed the steak was under. So, suggest you check your food quickly and send it back to the kitchen if you're not sure it's right. Other than that, the service was great and the vet was good. We were just a little disappointed.

I have been going to The Royal Arms on and off for around 25 years. It's in a beautiful location and used to be my favourite local place to visit. Therefore, it seemed the perfect place to go to celebrate my 2nd Wedding anniversary with my Husband. We both work hard and are parents to two SEN children so we were looking forward to a much needed break to refresh and chose the location for its peace and tranquility. We were allocated room 8. On arrival I noticed that there weren't any phones in the room to contact reception which I thought was odd but I later discovered the reason why-the management couldn't care less. The money for your room is taken in advance because if you were to pay later the chances are you wouldn't want to pay. After our meal in the restaurant we decided to head back to our room and watch a bit of TV. We dropped off around 10pm. At Midnight we were woken up by someone walking around directly above our heads very loudly on creaking floorboards. It sounded like the Riverdance crew had joined us, with no one to report this to ! This went on at 12am..then 2am, 4am, 5am, 7am. I managed to stand on a chair and bang on the ceiling which work for about half an hour then off they went again. At breakfast (Which incidentally was very nice) we were asked if everything was OK. I replied the breakfast was great but our night sleep was atrocious. This was met with disregard by the lady on reception. She said she would speak to the people she thought were responsible. What use is that? Its too late after the event. No apology, no discount, no FA...We won't be staying again. We'll take our money to The Millers down the road who quite frankly can't do enough for you and have security to sort this kind thing out. We won't be being quiet about who we share our experience with either. Not impressed.

But unfortunately the two girls in front of house/waitress are so rude, unhelpful and charged me 3 different prices for the same drinks and when questioned was told that it was wrong previously. Disappointed that bar was closed by 10pm. Prior to returning to our room we would have liked to have had a drink at the bar. 1x 250ml of bottled water in the room for two people. Shower was hopeless, it was running for 10min and was just off ice cold. Room 12 Breakfast was nice but very small portion. 1 egg, 1 bacon, 1 mushroom 1 sausage, spoon of beans and a quarter of tomato. 1slice of toast. Fresh orange was actual squash. £14.95 each. Rooms are very dated, needs a good refurbishment as entire place looking tired. Friendy staff.

Totally unimpressed with our Christmas Day dinner. Arrived at 1pm and left by 2.05pm feeling very underwhelmed! Each course came straight after we'd finished one, with no rest time in between. Food was awful, overdone starter, sloppy stuffing, Yorkshire puddings were underdone. We were sat in front of the entrance door which blew a gale every time it opened. The waitress offered us coffee and mince pies before we'd had dessert. When I stated this she just said "they're free!" We ordered the coffee only to then be charged for it on top of the £130 each we had already paid!!! If they were busy I could have understood better but it was half empty! Needless to say we will not be returning.

A pretty astonishingly poor (single) vegetarian option offered at Sunday lunch (despite the restaurant describing themselves as vegetarian friendly). Some re-heated gnocchi with an entire tin of tomatoes over it and what I can only assume was an entire jar of capers. For £14! Meanwhile everyone else at our table got full roasts (can't comment on how good they were as I didn't try them) for £16-18. Absolutely ridiculous that anyone could consider that gnocchi a viable option at all.

First impression of the restaurant was very good. Unfortunately a few simple things caused me to write this review. All three of us ordered a roast dinner which was served to us whilst we were still looking at the wine list, approximately 5 minutes. That was when a few things were reported to the waitress. 1. No crackling withe roast pork something that is shown as a main ingredient on the menu. 2. Gravy already poured all over the food, this should always be served separately. 3 . The cauliflower cheese was literally a bowl of mush, we reported this to the waitress who just said she would let someone know. The table next to us was served next with a large bowl of beautifully prepared cauliflower florets with cheese sauce. We never had any feedback re our concerns so we just carried on with what we had been served. Desert ordered Trio of Ice cream with home made Shortbread what we we received was three scoops of ice cream in a bowl and no shortbread! Lemon cheesecake was also ordered which we were told was no longer available but then was told they had just got one piece left. Great I thought, what arrived was a very slim slice of cheesecake with 2 minute blobs of cream. On paying the bill I did relay my concerns to a gentleman who I presume was the manager, his response was a quick sorry and then disappeared to speak to the waitress On his return he took my payment and just said sorry once again. Unfortunately what should have been a nice Sunday Lunch turned into a huge disappointment

Stayed at the royal arms several times over the years, the location is great and the staff are friendly. It doesn’t get packed out with rowdy gangs and is perfect if you want a quiet break or meal. Beer garden is nice too. Only problem I find here is the price of the food and drinks and not alot of choice on the menu, the portion sizes can be a bit small at times. Breakfast service can be pretty slow, the rooms are nice only problem I find with them is the water pressure in the showers, I’ve stayed in several rooms and they’re all the same. But I like it here and will continue to return in the future.

Booked the Royal Arms mainly for the fact they offer a Gluten Free Sunday roast dinner. I was bitterly disappointed when my food arrived to see a small stack of meat, around 3 small potatoes and a small pot of gravy… NO Yorkshire pudding, NO crackling and barely enough veg to feed a child in a small bowl… I don’t eat cauliflower cheese but wasn’t asked if I’d prefer another veg option. If they offer a GF dinner it needs to be a full dinner not half portions but for the full amount of £18:50! Other diners seemed to have what can only be described as meat platters filled with gigantic Sunday dinners! I left feeling hungry and disappointed and not happy being sat next to the toilet door. Won’t re-book or recommend. Waitress staff were nice and friendly but maybe because they were under the watchful eye of the owner/manager who oddly seems the only person who can take payment of the bill…

This was booked for a small Family Wedding meal & we were really looking forward to it, the menu choices seemed lovely & price per head a bit over the top but, the area I suppose you’d expect this. However, on arrival the seating plan was not the best as people had their backs to each other, the Staff were extremely young and inexperienced to say the least & the manager or head of service was quite rude & not very helpful. Quite a few of the orders (that were pre ordered) were incorrect and, when challenged you were made to feel uncomfortable. All in all not a good place to celebrate especially after such a lovely wedding 💒 elsewhere.

I also added the breakfast onto the stay as well and I liked the fact everything was brought to me rather than having to go and find the cereal, juices, coffee etc. the full English was cooked how I like it and fresh. Confused. Are you a wedding venue, a local pub or a fine dining restaurant? Beautiful food served with paper napkins. Expensive wine served in heavy bar style wine glasses? Outdoor furniture designed for wedding guests, with no cushions. Lovely room but dated, miss matched furniture and scuffed paintwork. (The shower cubicle definitely doesn’t feature in any of your new glossy brochures, or your lovely website!) You need to decide what you are. Unfortunately you will always be remembered by us as “the restaurant that served me 3 halves of new potatoes” 😝

My partner took me here for my birthday treat last month and we were incredibly shocked with our experience. Firstly, we arrived and checked into our rooms. The room seemed ok, however when going for a shower before our meal the water was stone cold. After both having a cold shower, we decided to look at the menu. Although very limited, it seemed quite nice, and we both decided what we wanted. We then went across to the restaurant for our meal... We were sat right away at our booked table by a member of staff and given menus, which were different to the ones in the room we were staying in. We ordered some drinks which came 15 mins later and one was wrong so had to be changed, which took a further 10 mins. For starters we shared a scallop dish which was just over £14. It came out nicely presented, but was 3 tiny Queeny scallops which we had one and a half of each. Wasn't even a mouthful. It was very disappointing and over priced. Mains... We both went for venison as we hadn't had that in some time. On the menu it just said venison and not what cut etc, so we asked out of curiosity and they didn't know so had to ask the chef. The meals came in good time but was the smallest portion we had ever seen. But we thought if it tastes good then that's no problem. Well.... The venison was just ok! I can't complain about that really. But the parsnip was soggy and covered in 'dry herbs!' the pure was nice an the jus was ok. And then there was the 'blackberry'.. which is not in season but hey we thought it sounded nice to pair with the game meat. It was more like an overly sweetened coulis. We were hoping for some nice blackberries cooked off in the meat juices or something a little more creative than a tasteless syrup. Once we finished our meals and were eventually asked about desserts we felt like going back to the room as the restaurant was a bit of a disastrous experience. I asked for the bill which was £80... For one drink each, a starter and two mains!!!!!! I didn't seem right at all. I don't mind paying for good food but we felt absolutely ripped off, and when the lady asked how my meal was, I quietly and reasonably said how I felt in a nice manner and she laughed at me! Not very friendly and approachable management! We ended up canceling our morning breakfast and left first thing feeling extremely disappointed. I've given it 2 stars because the place is actually beautiful inside and the first girl who served us was very friendly and bubby! Will not be returning

When we arrived there were no staff members around, after standing around for a few minutes we had to ring the bell to get someone to come out the back - they showed us to our tables and said they would be back. Service was very slow but there seemed to be one person doing all the work - saying this it wasn’t busy at all. My parents gave up waiting for a drink order so helped themselves to the refreshments on the side which I presumed was for hotel guests as when I asked if we should help ourselves we were told no it’s table service.

Lots of choice on the menu from pub classics to al a carte, I had the hake for a main which was flaky and super tasty! my husband had the duck breast! No room for pudding, maybe next time. Will be recommending to friends and family!

Love this place! Food was excellent. Service was great. Lovely setting and friendly staff. We held my parents 50th wedding anniversary in the small marquee last September. It was the best party we have ever had. They organised the event really well and did everything they could to make it a perfect day for my parents. Would definitely recommend

My husband booked a table for 8pm this was for my birthday. We arrived early at around 7.45 and was greeted by a waitress who then allowed us to sit where we wanted, took our orders then returned with drinks. The restaurant at that time literally had one other couple in so not what you could remotely describe as busy. Another couple arrived at least 10mins later and then some time later received their meals. By 8.45 I had had enough and walked to the bar area where I was was told by the same waitress whilst she was walking away from me that our order hadn't gone through but would now be with us shortly. No apology etc I told her we had been waiting over 3/4 hour now so forget it, we would pay for our drinks and they could forget it. The lady with the blonde hair behind the bar/till did actually apologize, waived the price of the 2 drinks and said it was unacceptable, to her thank you. But as far as the waitress if she knew there had been a problem then here's a tip, good manners and common courtesy go a long way with customers don't just leave people sitting for an age. Also in a restaurant that at the time literally had one other couple how on earth can one other order not be dealt with. Sorry just the whole experience was a shambles and ruined my birthday and obviously left it too late for us to go anywhere else for a special meal. After reading other reviews this would not appear to be the first time. Just very poor the only credit can be given to the lady behind the till. Needless to say we won't be returning and as we are reasonably local we will also advise friends, colleagues not to bother. A shame for local business as my husband was also looking for hotel and restaurant options for his overseas customers and colleagues. 1*credit

We won’t be back here anytime soon, Ate out here as a party of 7 for my sisters birthday. Got seated and waited 20 minutes to be asked what we would like to drink. Ordered 3 specials at 23.95 each. These were rib eye and scallops. Mains came out. Scallops reeked of ammonia! All 3 the same. They took them back but we declined for fresh ones to be cooked. 3 roast dinners tasted too salty. 2 slices of beef a x 2 rostie potatoes per dinner for 11.95 each.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunch today. The young man serving us was very professional, polite and attentive. The restaurant decor is excellent and the menu and drinks selection is great. A lovely setting and a fantastic meal.

We stayed at The Royal Arms for the first time last week with 2 other couples on the dinner B&B; offer. Excellent value stayed in one of the Suites. Room was huge very warm very comfy and everything that one would expect. Food was superb well presented good choice of pub foods and fine dining. Both Manager and owner seemed to be running the restaurant and large event going on quite effortlessly and still had the time to serve at the bar and have a little natter. lovely restaurant refurb also might I add. See you in a few weeks at The Snow Ball.

My wife and I got married nearby to here the day before, and so we thought it would be nice to have a champagne breakfast with some close family the day after.

We read through quiet a few negative reviews before visiting but wow were we suprised. I can honestly say they were totally unjustified. The service was really friendly and helpful and the food (they said it was a new menu) was really tasty. They even made a special meal that wasn’t on the menu for our fussy eater. They made my friends birthday so special and we will definitley be back soon

Firstly the staff were pleasant and the restaurant tastefully decorated this is where the compliments end the food was underwhelming the Demi glacé sauce over powering. The chef appears to be trying to be upmarket but the food does not justify the cost. My husbands steak was supposed to be medium but came well done the onion ring was so over fried virtually in edible and the steak chips definitely over cooked but my husband ploughed through it being a Yorkshire man and too hungry to complain to sum it up first and last visit would not recommend this restaurant.

I booked here for my mums birthday as a surprise for her, we usually go the black horse in Market Bosworth but thought we would try here with it being slightly more expensive for the champagne breakfast we had high hopes, but we were very disappointed. When we arrived there was just a glass of granola and glass of fruit which looked like it had been sat a while, although it looked nice in the glass, I think it’s nicer to have the choice of fruit and get your own granola so it is fresh not for yoghurt soaking all in it! We seemed to wait ages to even receive any champagne or explained to us how it worked. We then ordered the breakfast which were fine apart from the full English which was a child’s portion I’m sure but maybe a good thing as it was inedible and we had asked for no beans with it but it came with beans and no mushrooms. My mum then asked for a fresh cup and was presented with a chipped one. Three people were drinking coffee but they only bought a jug out big enough to fill two cups so kept having to ask for more. Overall we were very unhappy with the whole thing and when you pay that sort of money it isn’t what you expect. We won’t be returning and will be going where we know is best. I look forward to your response.

We went out for a meal with friends - despite the place being overrun with staff - service was not good. The bar man when asked to explain something on the menu was unable to - but didn't offer to find out. Despite ordering a bottle of wine to have with our meal - whilst having a pre dinner drink - so in plenty of time - it was not delivered to our table as we sat down - and we had to chase it twice. We asked for mustard - and it came too late as we had almost finished out meals by the time we arrived. Our waitress was lovely but there is evidently a lack of management somewhere which is causing these sorts of issues. They may sound like niggles but it is the little things which make a difference.

Very disappointed with the Sunday lunch. Had two course meal, but finished feeling hungry. First course of tomatoes was especially poor. Main meal had cauliflower and broccoli only for veg.

I attended a function and as I was the designated driver, I decided to have shandy. Not an issue, but, it would appear that the Royal Arms were charging me for a pint of lager, rather than a half of lager and a half of lemonade. Simply not cricket..

very nice afternoon tea in the upstairs room for a party of 25, plentiful sandwiches, scones, jam, cream, cakes, tea and coffee. i did think it was a bit pricey, had been advertised at £14.95 but I paid over £18 for mine, but a very enjoyable afternoon catching up with old friends.

Visited here a couple of weeks ago and were not disappointed. The place has been refurbed since our last visit which was within keeping of the original pub. Food was really tasty and I think we went for 3 courses, rude not too! Staff all very helpful and hard working. Not the cheapest of places but we didn't mind paying a little bit more for a very relaxing afternoon with good food.
