The best restaurants serving British food in South Derbyshire East Midlands

Met up with friends and family for food, Ross and Bradley the two gents on the bar made us laugh so much, Bradley saw my daughters like for halloumi and from there it was jokes and laughter all night. Brilliant service from Ross, very professional and made us all feel very welcome. We will definitely be back again.

This spot is great for a quiz night out and the food is decent, nice staff also so I would come again for any future events with friends.

This place has changed since last time we visited!!!! The other owners just couldn’t wait to close the doors early was told that this place was under new management wat a difference it makes we was looked after by a very nice lady called Kayla 10 out of 10 for her service we never had to get up for a drink from arriving to leaving great credit keep hold of her

Can’t believe some of the bad reviews. Staff were polite, we were asked what table we would like on entering. The menu was good plenty to choose and reasonably priced too. I chose the home made chilli and chips it was the best I’ve tasted in a long while and I am happy really fussy about food quality, chips were amazing too and all came with a full salad and slaw. I will be returning without a doubt. Lovely tea rooms and full of character. Thank you

I went here to get a portion of chips 25 minutes before closing, when I walked in I was polite and asked for a portion of chips. I was met with the woman saying something in her language to the guy who was serving me, he turned to bag the chips and sighed. I did say if you don’t want to do it that’s absolutely fine, for him to reply ‘salt and vinegar?’ Quite frankly it’s extremely rude, the chips were already there and done, they didn’t have to cook anything additional I will never go back, So so rude! It’s not the first time I’ve known of them being off either people I’ll take my custom elsewhere.

Went today to have coffee the cafe was so so busy. We have been quite a few times and never had a problem. The staff are so nice and work so hard nothing it to much trouble for them. Feel for the staff at times as people are so rude to them and shout at them. there is no need at all!! They all do their best for everyone. Give them a break!!!

Absolutely amazing service. Especially from the server Milly so kind and helpful. The pub was amazing and the drinks were delicious.

Lively Sunday Roast at The Coopers 👍🏼 Been a few years , but still good. Nice choice across the bar , food excellent although I would have liked it hotter. By the time I had carried it up to our table from the servers and I realised … I couldn’t be bothered to go back down , so it wasn’t that bad , and no one else had any qualms . Staff attentive and polite .

What a fabulous pub! Went there for a meeting in the room at the back. Such a beautiful room - had own bar, toilet, and outside area. The lady serving us at the bar was lovely: friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was AMAZING! We had a grazing board and buffet. Both were fantastic: fresh, tasty, generous, beautifully presented, and top quality. The staff were attentive and wanted to ensure we had everything we needed, which we did. The staff clearly takes pride in what they do and provide. I would highly recommend … I’m looking forward to visiting again, and taking my family.

Wasn't happy with the place right from the minute we got there. Bar staff stood chatting knowing we was waiting to be served. We went to sit outside when a dog did its mess right near us. Yes he picked it up best he could but it needed swilling down and disinfectant as in tbe heat it stunk.bar staff saw it and walked past it. Kids were walking through it and taking it in the pub on their shoes. Not the best experience.

(Feb 2025) This was an overnight stay including an evening meal with extended family and breakfast for ourselves in the morning. We can not fault the stay and the attention we received from Becky. The accommodation was a really high standard, clean and very comfortable. It was lovely to chat to Becky over breakfast and she really did make us feel welcome. Thank you. Definitely recommend.

This was a bit of a trip down memory for us, the Holly Bush was a regular haunt for me 50 years ago, way before providing food was necessary to stay in business and I must say the transition you've made is commendable, your food, service and value for money is fantastic and we will definitely recommend and use you again. As a family of 4 we had a lovely Sunday dinner. Great service, food lovely and value for money, we will definitely go again. We was surprised there was not more people there. Finished off by a lovely walk around Melbourne.
