I absolutely need to write a glowing review for Vicky at the Stanhope Arms! We needed support with upcoming meetings and catering. Vicky could not be more helpful, professional and proficient, completely meeting all of our needs as well as proactively offering solutions to our issues. As we use numerous locations nationwide for meetings, training sessions, and one-on-ones, we recognize the importance of having a supportive and efficient venue. Vicky ensured that we had everything necessary, alleviating any stress from the situation. Thank you, Vicky and the team, for your outstanding service. You have truly restored my faith in the value of excellent support.

I was on a training course and had my evening meals at this establishment the team was so polite and helpful The general manager was a great host very polite and couldn’t do enough for you excellent service thank you highly recommended this establishment 👍👍

Came here working away from home n was absolutely chuffed with the service , normally we get arrogant people but stanhope arms I would recommend, walk in , hiya r u OK, big smile u don't get that nowadays , lts just a really good atmosphere , like mums looking after ya, u had enough fòd yeh I'm OK haha ,really nice place n people , we been told no rooms so bit gutted as food is awesome, big thank you to Vicki n her lil friend sorry don't know her name but looked after us n we will deffo be asking to stop here again luvz ya 😀 😊

Stayed next door at the Premier Inn. Had dinner, breakfast and lunch. The restaurant was immaculate, the food was amazing and the staff were polite, friendly, welcoming and attentative. A huge special thank you to Harriet and Adrianna who both went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Visited on 12th Saturday night for a family members birthday. The surroundings were pleasant but looking tired. We were a large party but other than that the restaurant was not busy. Some members of party had pre ordered. Some tables ordered separately off the menu.

This was our first visit to the Stanhope Arms, and sadly, it will be our last.

Came here for dinner recently, food and service was good. We used our taste card 2 for 1 so it was great value for money. Would return next time we are in the area.

Went for lunch last Saturday. I ordered the scampi which was just under £10 on the menu, which in my opinion is more than enough to pay for scampi and chips. It came and it looked like a child’s meal with 8 mainly very small pieces of scampi served with fries, mushy peas and tartare sauce, a slice of lemon might have been nice at that price. One of the pieces was slightly larger and when I cut into it I was horrified to find it was raw in the middle. The manageress came over and agreed the scampi was raw and told us we wouldn’t have to pay for anything. Afraid we won’t be returning any time soon.

Excellent service and excellent food. Can not fault. Had a lovely evening and Angel was a very attentive waitress. Nothing was too much bother and couldn't have been more helpful. Will definitely being going again in the not so distant future.

So i stayed in the premier inn next door due to work and came in here every day , Staff are great especially ELLA shes a great young lady and knows exactly how to do her job table table please give this young lady some recognition dionne elizabert and angel are all great too , Well done table table you had some great staff here :) Thanks for having me

Family have been here regularly but this was the 1st time I've visited. Avoid the food! Kids pasta was clearly microwaved and probably never saw a saucepan. It was rock hard by the time it came to the table. On to the adult meals. The veg looked like it was harvested about a month ago and whereas my chicken and chorizo pie was really nice (credit where its due) the accompanied portion of new potatoes.....3 in total - halved to make it look a little bit more generous than it was - which were bone dry (had to ask for butter for them) and a measly portion of side salad for over £10 is not good enough! Call me stingy but 3 new potatoes on a meal costing that much is ridiculous. Definitely haven't done anything to make me think I've missed out on all those years from never going here. Wont be going back either.

From start to finish the experience was disappointing. It took ages to get served at the bar and nobody seemed to be in charge. Once we were sat down things didn’t improve. The staff were really unprofessional overall , although the male staff were better and the service was poor. We were almost the only ones in the restaurant but didn’t get asked if we needed drinks during the meal. The food was okay, although my wife’s steak was bland and she left quite a bit of it. The person who served us was pretty surly and didn’t seem to want to be there. We felt the same and none of us will be returning.

Un fortunately we had the same experience two nights in a row the food was very basic with poor preparation and on one night a very over cooked steak after an extremely long wait

Food was well presented and was tasty. Nice atmosphere . Angel served us and was very friendly. She was very attentive and realised we were feeling chilly and asked if we wanted aircon off.

We enjoyed a lovely meal with friends in the Window Suite which is nice little alcove which gives the feeling of privacy. A good choice of meals on the menu at reasonable prices. Excellent service from Lizzy made our evening a very good experience.

Went for lunch and chose the Sunday roast pork. Was initially greeted by friendly staff. Our meal came out and looked rather good until the gravy was poured on our meal. It as swimming in Grease, as the gravy started to cool it became apparent that half of the gravy boat was gravy and the top half was yellow fat. When the waitress came to take our plates I mentioned that the gravy actually prevented me from eating my lunch. We then wasn’t offered our bill like normal, we had to go to the bar to pay. At that point I refused to pay for the meal that I couldn’t eat. A feeble apology and my meal was deleted from our bill. We’ve been going to the Stanhope for many years now, this is the poorest apology I’ve ever experienced. Knowing the problems we had I’d have thought the first thing should have happened was my meal automatically being taken off our bill. There’s been some lovely staff that have worked at the Stanhope but unfortunately standards have dropped dramatically. Such a shame really.

Food is always luke warm and when you complain you get looked at like gone out. Been here few times it never changes its always the same. Luke warm over priced food Chester up rd is probably better than this. Disappointed and sick of complaining. Custom lost!!!

Went for dinner with my family,ordered double stack burger,it came with the other food and when I lifted the bun it was uncooked.i asked for a replacement and cooked.

Me and my family visited on a Wednesday afternoon, where we promptly greeted and seated by a lovely young member of staff, I think her name was Elise.

My sister and I enjoyed lunch there today. I was impressed that there were 3 vegetarian options for the main menu. I decided on the lasagne. It was very tasty, and probably one of the better lasagne’s I have tasted. Staff were friendly, and it was value for money. I might add that there was a large party of people also there, as well as other diners. We would return.

So after visiting this restaurant many years ago and having a bad experience I wasn’t sure about returning but I’m so happy we tried again...The staff are so friendly and we were made to feel so welcome nothing was to much trouble the food and service were lovely we will definitely be returning such good value for money.

Went on spec as I was staying in the local hotel. The meal was very hot and tasty. Service was a bit slow but nothing appeared to be too much trouble. Would I come again, yes if staying on a local travel inn.

We visited with our nephew and niece and we we not disappointed. On entering, the bar and restaurant was extremely busy, Georgia was very welcoming and managed to find us a table for 4 despite not booking. We were looked after by Liv who was very good and let us know which dishes were unavailable and the wait on food. I had vegetarian lasagne, my husband had the gammon and my nephew the sloppy joe and my niece the chicken escalope. All the dishes were great and there is a wide selection available at reasonable prices. We were regularly checked on by Liv to make sure we were ok and if we needed any further drinks or desert which we also enjoyed. We were never rushed despite the wait on tables. Don’t often leave a second review for the same place. However, the service was so good I wanted to say a big thanks to the Stanhope and especially Liv and Georgia for the service. Well done

The staff were good and the actual place nice, but the food was below average. I wouldn’t by choice eat there unless they changed the chef. Meals slapped together, dry and lacking taste.

We have had many many happy times and lovely meals here but this seems to be a changed restaurant young serving staff who slide your meal across the table with no communication everything seemed to be too much trouble and we are certainly not complainers normally I would vote with my feet but this time I have to say very very poor try serving fresh salad for example disappointing in fact piteous

Great food this evening for our party of twelve. It was quite busy in the restaurant but we were served efficiently and by friendly staff. All were very accommodating, helping us with gluten-free choices and happily took our son's birthday cake off to the kitchen to light the candles and then two staff came out with it, singing 'happy birthday'. It was a very nice, personal touch, which was much appreciated. Excellent value for money, especially given our '40% off mains' voucher. Special thanks to our waitress Dionne who was super hardworking, friendly and helpful and made us all very welcome.

We come here regularly and always enjoy our visits. We used to come in for the 2 for 8.99 but since it has gone onto Tastecard we now go to have 2 for 1 off that. The food is always good and comes out quickly and staff are friendly. Would recommend this place for a quick, cheap bite to eat

Visited the restaurant on Wednesday 29th May 2019. The food wasn’t bad but the floor was full of breakfast debris which hadn’t been cleaned up. The staff were full of excuses such as “we don’t have a cleaner”, “we don’t have time to clean up”, “there was a child sitting there earlier”. Why did they put us in that part of the restaurant as there was only one other table occupied when we arrived just after 12 noon, We had staff putting up curtain tie-backs while we were sitting at our table and to top it all they gave me the wrong side order. Not one member of staff asked if our meal was OK during our visit even as we were leaving. We’ll be giving the Stanhope a miss in the future.

I regularly visit the Stanhope Arms as it is local to me. We have a reward card and the benefits are excellent, with regular money off vouchers. The staff are very friendly and helpful and I can rely on the food always being of a good standard. We were served by Liv last time we were there, and she is bright, cheerful and welcoming - as are all the staff we have met.

Bar staff extremely rude and unhelpful, Didn't want to serve us a drink at 10:35 p.m because they close at 11:00p.m, I will avoid at all costs.

Me and my boyfriend came here for a meal. We had a 40% off main meals voucher. Food was execellent and so was the service.

Disappointed with the service we received took a long time to take our food order. When the food came out the chips were brown horrible and looked like they had been reheated the asparagus with the salmon was over cooked. We did want puddings but waited such a long time for someone to come over to us we gave up in the end. The manager walked passed our table a number of times and was too interested in tidying up than serving us . I have been coming here for years the standards have really slipped will not be coming ever again !!!

stayed next door at premier with daughters and gran kids so went to Stanhope for breakfast ,stops serving at 11am we called at 10.30 and was refused entry and told chef was not prepared to cook for a party of ten 4 adults and 5 kids that's almost £40.00in revenue wont be calling again

Came here for breakfast at the weekend after learning about their kids eat free offer. It worked out great value (2 adults, 4 kids) as we only paid for the two adults. Only problem is the buffet area is quite small so it got very busy and things were running out quickly. But the cooked food was great

Went here with my daughter and friends. The lady that served us at our table was attentive and very helpful when we asked for different veg etc. Loads to choose from on the menu. Advised us of an offer on wine that saved us money, and also brought a quiz sheet for my daughter to complete. Food came quickly and was really tasty, all plates were empty!! would highly recommend although they do need to get some more attentive staff at the bar as my friend had to wait a long time to pay whilst staff were chatting.

I recently ate at this restaurant as a bit of a casual chat to get to know a potential client, the staff were wonderful and polite and the food was fantastic.

We came recently for dinner at around 5pm so we were in time for their special daytime menu. I had Mac and cheese and my partner had a lasagne, great value for money, only negative is that drinks can seem expensive when compared to the daytime value price as you almost pay the same again for drinks and pub could do with a spruce up as it looks old

The Stanhope has a very relaxed atmosphere allowing visitors to enjoy a bite to eat and a chat. The seats are comfortable, tables of good size and everything is in good clean condition. The food we ordered came in a very reasonable time and was of good quality. Drinks were good too. There are slightly cheaper places around but not with the relaxed atmosphere which I appreciate when out with the family for a meal and a catch up.

We visited for an early dinner and were able to order from the day time value menu where you get 2 mains for £8.99. There is a good selection of mains to choose from including salad, steak burger, chicken and bacon sandwich, fish and chips plus you can add a starter or desert for £2.49 each. This menu runs Monday- Saturday till 6pm.

We had a large family meal on a Saturday evening.There were 28 of us and we had the private area that our table was set out at all evening. Given the size of the party we were asked to pre-order, which we did. The service was excellent with meals arriving almost all together giving a very good eating experience. The food ranged form very good to excellent. Some had the appearance of being over micro waved but was still good.
