First time at Littleover Lodge, and very impressed, the service was excellent and the food was lovely

Terrible experience very rude staff Food was awful. Chips were actually burnt. But both the manager and assistant insisted they were supposed to be like that Sad to say won’t be going back there again

Went for a surprise 80th birthday afternoon tea. Service was excellent. We took our own decorations and they put them up for us. Constantly refreshing the tea and coffee pots. The sandwiches were so tasty. Real ham, real beef, egg mayo and smoked salmon and cream cheese. And butter not marg. Absolutely delicious. The cakes were scrumptious and made locally. The scones had jam, whipped cream and clotted cream. Boxes were provided for us to take home any leftover cakes. All in all a wonderful afternoon tea. (And the price was good as well) Would definitely recommend

We went for my son's birthday and had a lovely welcome with great service. Especially with the midweek saver menu, prices are great value too.

We have stayed at The Littleover Lodge on many occasions, it is dog friendly and we have found the staff to be very welcoming, professional and friendly. Our most recent stay was the night before new years eve 2023. At breakfast time on New Years Eve and despite being busy getting ready for the evenings celebrations the staff provided my wife and myself with an excellent breakfast, a beautifully cooked and presented full English for me and a Continental breakfast for my wife.They went out of their way to make sure we had all we needed. We noticed that this attention wasn't just for us, the same care and attention was given to other diners as well. The room we were in appeared to have been recently refurbished and was warm and comfortable. It has a walk in shower and ample storage. TV reception was good. We look forward to staying at The Littleover Lodge on our next visit to Derby.

We came to Littleover Lodge for the first time in about 15 years on Christmas day this year, and we're excited to see what it was like now. The staff were nice enough, although it was clear some didn't want to be there (and who can blame them on Christmas day?). The food was ok, average really, but the thing that really let us down was the price they charged for our 2 year old's Christmas dinner. We had been liaising with staff since booking at the start of October and explained we would only like the turkey course from the children's menu for our toddler. We were told we wouldn't need to preorder this and that it would likely cost around £10 (with the 4 course children's menu costing £40 that day (included starter, sorbet, main and dessert, excluding the mince pie at the end)). My husband paid off the drinks and meal at the end and left a generous tip. It wasn't until later we realised we had been charged £30 for her meal! Absolutely outrageous. We wouldn't have bothered ordering knowing this (she only ate the Yorkshire pudding and a small amount of turkey). We might as well have ordered the entire children's menu for £40. We were incorrectly given a 'ball park figure' for the meal and were ripped off. Really disappointing and we won't be returning.

Great find, apartment style rooms with modern facilities and mezzanine layout. The restaurant/pub area only does food certain days of week but its a cracking menu and reasonably priced.

Table was booked for 8 o clock for 11 people, we got called through at 8 but then we had to wait 40 minutes for food, our starters came to find that the chicken tikka skewers were still raw. We told the staff and the manager came out with NO apology and said what do you want some more starters? Absolutely NOT! The staff did not seem bothered that they could have just given us all food poisoning so we requested our deposit back. The manger spoke to the owner who did refund our money.

Sadly lacking in atmosphere when we visited. Our little party was more than 50% of the total clientel in the restaurant

I will start by saying i can not fault the staff one bit, they were brilliant with us, friendly, smiley, helpful. The resturant itself is a nice restuarant too. Its a nice setting and i bet sitting outside for a meal in the sun would also be nice. The thing that lets littleover lodge down, is unfortunatley... the food. I personally ordered the Homemade fishcakes and my gf the Homemade soup, if they were homemade im a monkeys uncle.. they were 100% frozen fishcakes, my sister in law up the table said the same thing. The soup was also a heinz vegetable soup, no way was it a home made soup... so although not really bad, it was basically a sainsburys brought staeter for us both. The mains, i had pie and mash, my gf the pie and chips.... bland pie with hardly any filling and just mash and peas. ALTHO i will say this, a few on our table had the sizzling indian platter that was huge and i tasted a bit and was good. They have a wide range of drinks on offer, lagers on tap are estrella and budweiser, cocktails are on tap too which i always find a bit of a shame. As i say i cant fault the staff one bit.. Would i go again, maybe but to have just the indian sizzler, but tbh. I probably wont which is a shame

Lovely bar, definitely worth popping in as the staff are all welcoming and friendly. Especially, Jana who went above and beyond interacting with customers and nothing was too much. Handle her job well with a smile and pleasant tone, which is a rare trait.

Went for Mother’s Day , never been before, or was packed very busy bit staff was amazing, on the. All fast attentive polite Food was very good very nice from adults to kids all happy and we all took food home that we hadn’t finished More than highly recommend

We booked with family for the boxing day meal. I will start off by saying....all staff looked miserable haha. I'm laughing because literally all of them were just not happy to be there. Food was...ok...starter nice. Main, I had the cod. Ok...there should have been veg with it...it was just a lump of fish with mash under it....everyone on my table thought it was hilarious how bad it looked. Lonely bit of fish lobbed on a plate. Pudding was horrendous. I had waffles and it was dry and the ice cream has melted so it has been sitting out a while...it was a joke really. Some of my family has sticky toffee pudding and the custard was cold. Yep...it was bad. Oh,and as the bloke bought out the puddings, he basically called me fat! Nice! Luckily I can take a joke...well sort of...but don't comment on a women's appearance. It's a big 'fat' no no. I had a good time because I caught up with family, but you need to sort how your staff treat your customers and food needs to have better quality control. Just seems to be open for the money and nothing else. You will loose customers if you carry on. And the only customers you will keep are the ones popping in for a pint.

We visited Saturday and had the Christmas fayre menu. The food was absolutely delicious. The table was decorated beautifully. The bar and restaurant looked very festive as well. Staff extremely helpful and polite. Our friends hadn't been before and they loved it and can not wait to return . Top marks all round . Thank you

Littleover Lodge has been on our list to try for a while now, but after this experience neither of us are in a rush to go back. It was Sunday afternoon and we thought we'd pop in and try their carvery. This is £10.99, so fairly priced. It was pretty busy when we arrived and the restaurant looked full. We got a table in the bar area and ordered the carvery. One positive to this place is that they show the football. It's not the biggest carvery you'll ever see. It's also the only carvery we have tried where you can't pick your own potatoes. The guy behind the carvery deck serves you the meat, Yorkshire pud and roast potatoes and then you help yourself to the veg. This was where the issue began and I still can't believe what happened. My partner went first and the guy serving the carvery gave him 3 roast potatoes, but he only gave me (I'll point out here that I am female) 2 potatoes. I wasn't having that so I asked him for another. He very rudely said "isn't 2 enough?" I pointed out that he'd given my partner 3 and his exact response was "BUT HE'S A MAN"!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing. This was witnessed by several other people in the queue. Aside from that the carvery was nothing special. My partner said the crackling was like a dog chew toy. He was also disappointed that there was no gammon. We decided not to stay for dessert. I can't see us rushing back and somebody needs to remind that carvery guy that it's 2022 and men and women should not be discriminated against when it comes to the dishing out of roast potatoes.

we have eaten at Littleover hotel a few times, and are never disappointed with our meals, they are always very tasty, valve for money, and staff are lovely.

Terrible service from rude uninterested staff. Family of 6 were happy to spend a good few hours and plenty of money at this location. Unfortunately the staff were unable to accommodate us and preferred to hang around the bar gossiping with each other. Found a more accommodating place further down the road. Avoid this place at all costs.

After being told their was no lamb, or pork available and that there were no pizzas, my friend and I ordered Paella to share. After a few mouthfuls we agreed it tasted like packet savoury rice and the dish lacked any flavour whatsoever. It was brought to the attention of our server, she said she’d let the chef know and she preceded to take our order for more drinks and a dessert. Apparently this establishment prides itself on using ‘the finest quality ingredients’ and their ‘chefs know what it takes to produce truly amazing dishes’- perhaps last night it was their night off? No saffron, paprika, parsley or even salt and pepper graced this dish-there was nothing Spanish about it! Given this and the fact we left half a pan full, we expected the manager to make an appearance and come and see if it ‘satisfied all of their taste buds’ but no, they couldn’t have been too bothered. There was no apology or any effort made and I’m not sure we were even taken seriously. Our server was dismissive, unapologetic and quite frosty when we raised the issue. We queried the bill and she returned having ‘spoken to her manager’ and presented our bill, once again with 10% off. The staff or the manager made no effort to ensure that we returned to the restaurant in the future and based on our experience last night we really won’t be returning. We could have stayed closer to home or even stayed home full stop, and had a better meal. Good customer service was not apparent here, in fact by the end of the evening, we felt like we were in the way. Perhaps upon taking this feedback on board, the owners and managers may consider investing money into the people skills of their staff, instead of the pretentious and quite possibly pointless earpieces and headsets worn by them all. The gimmicks did not provide a nice evening where we chose to spend our hard-earned cash. Sadly, it will be memorable for all the wrong reasons.

Attended on a Friday night for a table of 3. Restaurant was very quiet with ourselves and only about 2 other tables with diners (for reference, this was a 7pm sitting). We were waiting for our friend who was running late but before we'd even had chance to settle ourselves down, we were asked for drinks, which I felt was rather hurried and despite saying our mate was only a few minutes away, felt that the waitress could have waited until all 3 of us were sat down. Food orders were taken and food didn't take too long to arrive, expected given it was quiet. Despite being aware that orders for pizza are not likely to arrive at the same time as other meals from the kitchen, I'd still expect that ordering sides to a pizza, which I explicitly said they were sides to the pizza when ordering, they should ideally come out at the same time at the pizza. In this case, fries and onion rings came out in staggered fashion, some 10 minutes before the pizza arrived. Again, I know they made it apparent not to expect other meals at the same time as a pizza, but on a quiet night, it surely can't be that hard to hold off on some fries and onion rings to accompany the pizza at the same time? Reading other reviews for this restaurant, the theme of service seems to be a recurring one. Our experience just felt hurried, rushed and lacking just basic hospitality, with little to no thought put into providing a good dining experience.

We came here tonight for a family meal, the positive I do have is the food was lovely we couldn't fault it! So if your looking for somewhere with nice food and don't mind how your treated a while sat in a awkward atmosphere this place is perfect for you. Thank god the food was nice because our evening meal didn't start of so great. When arriving into the big empty room filled with just staff standing there with there arms folded not greeting us with even a smile we headed to our table. The lady with the bleach blonde hair and the eyebrows who "looked after" our table came over to ask us if our pre order for our meals was still OK to which one person wanted to change there meal, so as we are sat waiting for our drinks a couple who were joining our table and were running 5/10 minutes late came from the bar after getting there own drinks only to let us know a while they were waiting for there drinks at the bar the staff were all having a good old bitchfest about the table that had pre ordered and decided to change one of the meals and having a good moan/rant about us all infront of the couple who they clearly had no idea were joining our table (we was the only table in the restraunt if anyone's wondering) so the lady on our table who had changed there order went up to the bar just to sarcasticly check that there isn't a problem with the order change to which the staff said it was fine (they must of died inside when noticed the couple had joined our table lol). Also when bringing the meals out it was very much here is your food no politeness and no asking if we needed any extras like sauces which ofcorse theres always people who need mayonnaise or ketchup with there meal, it took about 10 mins to finally get someone's attention for this. Also there was no check on our table to see how everything was, maybe because of the pure embarissment of being caught red handed at the bar previous so we can't really blame them because we could literally feel the embarissment for them. So food was great but staff were very rude they didn't want to know the customers at all and clearly would rather spend there time moaning about us thank looking after us.

We went for a family meal for Mother’s Day with 2 toddlers. Staff were great, very helpful. Drinks came quickly, carvery was nice. Really good cut of beef. Only thing I’d say is they’re was no mashed potato which we like but was a good meal and nice deserts 👍🏼

Sadly the evening was a disappointment due to poor service, miserable staff and poor management skills. The staff do not engage as they are too distracted by ear pieces, meals were spilt on the table without an apology!! Not very attentive, always had to ask for drinks. Thankfully the food was good but poor service has put us off returning.

During starters the main meals were brought out so were returned to the kitchen. When the mains were brought back to the table My meal was given back to a hostess as the temp seemed below 65 degrees. Another meal was brought out which was equally like warm. The roast potatoes were inedible even without false teeth to try to eat them with. The half roast chicken was advertised with onion rings and chips. We had to ask for the onion rings as they weren't brought with the meal. The onion was thick and raw and the batter was hardly cooked. The decoration of the restaurant was nice and the staff were accommodating.

We came for a carvery - with our 5 and 8 year old sons. Upon our 8 yr old taking a small plate with a slice of meat and two roast potatoes and veg, he returned his plate as the turkey was cold and asked if he could have another Yorkshire which was accepted. After finishing his food, he asked if it was ok to have anymore potatoes to which we received a cold response which upset our son. The rude server then commenting insinuating we were being stingy for paying for a children’s plate (he’s 8) and we should pay for an adult plate next time. It’s been a while since having a carvery but I was unaware that roast potatoes were rationed? Having been insulted, I doubt we will be returning for another visit.

Visited today and had an excellent Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and hot, and service was fast and friendly, especially by Martyna. Can't fault it all and will be visiting again soon for more food.

Stayed here for work. The bar & restaurant staff are polite & friendly. The food is reasonably priced & well presented, I never felt rushed & always welcome. The accommodation is a little dated, but given my missing tv remote, a replacement was found swiftly....

Lovely family birthday meal! Restaurant was very clean and well signed, tables were a good distance apart. Staff were so friendly and very attentive throughout our visit. Food was good quality and so fresh! Will definitely come again.

We arrived last minute without booking and they were very happy to accommodate us. The food was fantastic, especially the sticky ribs!.There was a good gluten free choice and the portions were generous. Our waitress Martyna, looked after us very well and the service was very quick. Went for a meal with my wife and we weren’t disappointed. We have always enjoyed this place since we got married here 10 years ago! Have to say though that the food seems have gone up a notch. We had prawns and chicken tikka skewers to start which were both delicious, with bigger portions than I have seen on some main courses! We had steak and ale pie and pulled lamb fajitas for mains, again both spot on. The restaurant is spacious so you don’t feel cramped and the staff are fantastic. Couldn’t fault it.

Came for a meal to celebrate our anniversary as a small family. We sat in the bar area and the staff were all so friendly and when we placed our order they checked before to ensure we knew what time we may wait due to the establishment being so busy, food came and oh my god! It was delicious, we had 2 steaks and a burger! The social distancing is maintained and to be honest the atmosphere in the bar is lovey.

What a terrible place to eat, we went to try the Lodge tonight for the first time and it will certainly be the last. The service is far from professional. The restaurant is clearly overwhelmed, unable to serve some of their standard menu items like garlic bread because of demand on pizza.Our fish and ships was appalling and literally sickening. The batter was raw, the fish was clearly not fresh and off, we couldn’t finish it.When we reported this, they added insult to injury by arguing the fish was fresh, after taking it to the chef in the kitchen to taste it!!!At least just apologise without arguing, if you have any hope of keeping customers.

Myself and my friend dined here this evening. I had the Halloumi fajitas and my friend had the Beef & Ale pie.Gorgeous food and lovely presented.The service was excellent, very attentive and efficient. In these Covid unsure times the restaurant was set out brilliantly ensuring social distancing was carried out which was very reassuring and put us at ease.The Passion Fruit cocktail (Pornstar Martini) was one of the best I've ever tasted. Delicious. Will definitely be back soon

We had an amazing time at the lodge bar! The service was absolute quality. We had Georgina as our host for the entire night and she went above and beyond to make sure everything was ok, table was always cleared and kept clean and with everything surrounding the new covid rules she was nothing but the best at making sure we felt comfortable! Will definitely be returning in the future! Excellent food and fantastic customer service what more could you want!

First time venturing out from COVID lockdown. Really impressed with how well they have adapted the restaurant to keep people separated. One way system, hand sanitisers upon entry, all staff wearing masks. Felt relaxed and enjoyed the evening. Martyna was our host and she did a great job at keeping us well informed and attended too. She sold us the ‘fish taco’ special and they were delicious! Defo coming back again. Well done to all the staff for your health and safety efforts during this difficult time.

In the midst of all the Coronavirus chaos. Being advised not to visit pubs and avoid social gatherings. Went in last night after the advice and found the beer prices have GONE UP !! I find that incredible. Surely you want to keep your customers and incentivise customers, regulars and casual visitors alike to keep coming. This isn’t the way !Beer and food promotions and increased hygiene may help. Hollybrook up the road is cheaper and has promotions on making it better to visit as no SKY SPORTS at the mo.

If you haven't tried Carlos's pizza, you haven't lived.We have a takeout pizza every week and we are slightly addicted! Beautiful crispy base, with generous toppings, what's not to love. Staff are always helpful & friendly and service is second to none.

Very friendly environment, comfortable with good food at reasonable prices. The pizza is exceptional and other choices good also. All staff are very presentable, knowledgable on food choices and friendly. Georgina and Isabelle were our servers and they looked after our family of 7 a treat. Food was freshly cooked, well presented and tasty. Will definitely return again.

Three of us had a New Year lunch in the restaurant on a Tuesday. It was quite busy, with many people tucking into the carvery. We all chose from the menu, lamb, beef and steak, served on hot plates (big tick!) but the food not QUITE hot enough for me. Serving size was just right so we didn't feel overfed. Assorted vegetables were nice but rather undercooked, and I'm not someone who likes them soggy. Excellent treacle tart and custard, and very good sorbets all appreciated for dessert. Cheerful service, good value. We'll be back.

Slow service despite near empty restaurant on a Monday evening.

We have been visiting regularly for last four years on Friday or Saturdays but over last months key staff members are leaving which is a sign !!! Go before 5pm on a Saturday and expect to wait a long time for the lone bar staff person to try serve the bar and busy restaurant!!! Now they have a 65 inch tv to play sky sports but since last week no volume allowed despite customers sat there trying to watch the Manchester Derby ???? Beer prices up for customer But service declining. Not the best recipe but well let’s see what happens.

Unplanned visit and what a wonderful surprise! On arrival, staff were great. Got a table with no booking though restaurant was very busy. I thought it was just a pizza place. But no. Lovely extensive menu... And pizza. I opted for the calzone pizza. Omg. Amazing. Another friend had the burger... He wanted more it was so nice. Another friend had the bacon chop. Though he found it over salty (which bacon is anyway). It was all good good good. 2 more deserts and very nice. 2 lagers, 2 large Pinot wines, 2 soft drinks and all for £68. If you haven't been.... Get there. You're missing out!!! Five star plus

Visited on a Sunday tea time with 4 adults and a baby. Worried on arrival as very busy and every seat taken with a packed bar area but pleasantly surprised that team were able to fit us in. Noticed the staff wearing head sets and lots of talking to one another with what looked like a manager overseeing the service and encouraging staff to constantly clear tables/offer drinks etc- from reading previous reviews I wonder if this is to improve service? Either way it worked! We had fantastic service throughout, ordered a mix of carvary and main meals and the kitchen let us know when to go for carvery so we could all eat at the same time. Carvery was excellent, pizzas good.

My family and I, along with family friends, visited the restaurant this evening for a family member’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Visited with my cousin and my grandma for her birthday. I ordered a drink when I arrived but didn’t receive it until our starter came. I had Thai fish cakes which had shell in them, my cousin is gluten free and was given a special menu which she was really impressed with and ordered burger and fries. When the mains came out they informed my cousin her fries had been cooked in the same fryer as everything else and offered her some potatoes but at that point we were already eating. We asked for drinks and we were told in a minute and no one arrived to take our drink orders. They offered us dessert menus and never bought the menus over and then when we finally got a dessert menu we asked to order drinks and was told the waiter would come back for a drinks order and he never did. When dessert came my cousin was informed they had no meringues made so offered her fruit and ice cream only and I ordered treacle pudding which came out black and burnt, I sent it back and they apologised and made me a fresh one, we still didn’t get any drinks so we gave up and asked for the bill which came 30mins after asking for it.

I have mixed feelings re this place as the decor is good, the outside seating is lovely and the cocktails are good value. The negatives are the food is hit and miss as pizzas are great but fajitas are awful- barely any meat and mainly onions on the skillet, very little peppers. The cocktails are great depending on who makes them. The bar advertises as cocktail bar but the atmosphere is less cocktail more blokey sports bar. The hollybrook pub close by has a more family orientated feel to it than here. Worth going to though if it is a hot day as the outside area is lovely.

Upon arriving for a special pre-booked father's day lunch with family, we were told there was no table booked for us (i had booked online and had email verification weeks ago). Whilst i went to get the email on my phone we ordered drinks, then we were told to take a seat - we were then left, so I went back up to the bar to find out how long we were going to have to wait for our pre-booked table (it was already after the time slot), having seen several large parties walk past us to their table. Then to be told, oh your table was ready before you just needed to walk through? we had been told to take a seat and they will let us know when the table is ready. Then we had to deal with yet another person who looked at their list, didn't have our name, but had my christian name so eventually we were seated, on a tiny square table with barely enough room for the menus and drinks. food-wise: I felt the carvery was bland, other dishes more tasteful. Whilst clearing the tables, a young lad literally scooped the leftover food off one plate with his bare hand to the other plate, as I stared in disbelief and disgust.. I won't be visiting again. There was no apology given, no discount off the bill for the initial confusion, nothing: I feel this is very poor customer service. Positives: interior decor is very stylish but the scuffed, damaged chairs let this down and the outside is very pretty thankfully to make up for the shambles inside. I can see several negative statements on here also, so makes me wonder why they aren't upping their game, particularly around service. The above is a polite version of what my husband would write.

Hi I came on Sunday for a carvery with my other half , food was excellent , but was greeted at the bar with a very rude bar attendant , , she asked if we wanted the bar or restaurant to dine , I said maybe restaurant, there was a very helpful young man also behind the bar who said il go and check if there's any free tables for you , only for the rude female to rip his head off saying I'm dealing with this , he was only being helpful and polite , more than you could say for her , I dindnt get her name as there was no name badge , but she had long dark hair and wasn't English , and could of done with some teeth whitening , but overall the place is lovely , but would be better without her

Stayed many times. When looking to stay in the Derby area I always stay here. Cost is great along with the staff. Easy to get to. Only downside is not on bus route to the city but the taxis are great.

I was expecting nothing more than a satisfying flavorsome Gastro meal experience that I have experienced at many other restaurants, but I can only express a very disappointed evening out with the family. The only pro to the evening was the venue it's a comfortable feel, however that is where it stops.

This restaurant is a long standing favourite of my parents so they chose it for their wedding anniversary meal. I’ve not been for a few years & didn’t rate it then but after seeing the new menu & the refurbishment, I was hopeful for a better experience.

Attractive comfortable environment, friendly staff. Food was very photo genic. Good selection of food, Carvery, Pizza oven and Gastro pub. Great meet up for a conversation location.

I had one of my family members stay in one of the apartments & it was disgusting! The wall paper was hanging off the walls there was marks and peeling of varnish on the wooden headboard, mould over the bathroom and windows, paint chipped off the ceiling and I believe it’s a old style heater broken and bits hanging off it!! So, if your planning on staying there DONT! You will be disappointed. We had a meal which I booked months in advance yet was only offered bar menu. However, the meals are good bit pricey for the quality but still edible.
