I stopped over in my Camper Van for one night. There wasn't a charge as long as I eat and drink in the pub. Great service, fantastic food. Would highly recommended the roast dinner. Scenery was excellent where I parked and enjoyed the views the next morning..

The meal and location lived up to their reputation. This was a chance visit, but we were so glad to have made it. The service and everything else were smart and relaxed.

Went for Mothers Day Sunday lunch Food was lukewarm warm, plates cold, veg under cooked especially broccoli which was too hard to bite through and gravy was watery and thin. Service was second to none very attentive and helpful.

Came here to photograph a 50th birthday party, some of the staff were really helpful and polite. Would like to come back and eat here with my wife one day. Food was a buffet and wow that just kept coming and coming, literally a constant flow of bowls being filled up. My client had a great time, I would definitely recommend.

Carvery was absolutely gorgeous! And such a cosy atmosphere. Would 100% recommend.

Nice place, good range of food choices and a decent carvery. Service was very slow particularly to get the starters out. Everyone in our group liked what they had. Starters were portioned small and presented fancy. Which I think is good, a lot of places make their starters too big. Mains were great, and the desserts generously portioned to finish you off.

Had a lovely meal at this pub! The food was delicious, with generous portions that left us more than satisfied. The atmosphere was warm and cozy, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The only small downside was the knives—cutting the meat was a bit tricky, so sharper ones would be a great improvement. Overall, highly recommend and would definitely return!

Visited Sunday 09 March 2025 with my 3 daughters and son for a birthday treat for my son we all had the coopers choice my kids enjoyed the Meal but I was let down by the veg was undercooked and I thought the price of over 100 pounds was overpriced for what we had ,sorry but that's what I thought nice location and building is grand but I was expecting food to live up to the settings I left disappointed.

My wife, a great cook, said the carvery was the best she had tasted with superb beef, pork and many delicious vegetables. I agree - and good value too.

Great food from the carvery. Beef was perfectly cooked and delicious. Large selection of vegetables. Roast potatoes very good unlike in most pubs.

The ultimate carvery. Superb service, lovely setting and amazing food. The meats are delicious. Chef is clearly proud of the food on offer. Veg is equally superb. Puddings were also great. Totally recommend. You'll struggle to get a roast dinner as good as this. Deserves every award it has achieved. Staff are really friendly too.

The carvery is always great for choice and taste, everything piping hot, fresh an- scratch made. It would be better to have one set price for a plate so you can decide which meat you want when you get to the carvery, and only two slices of meat is very stingy for the price, should be 3 slices at least, but it was all great quality. However, today's experience was marred for other reasons - The awful old smoky smell and the seating arrangement. The smoky smell was from the burnt out fire place, it was extremely overpowering and when arriving home I had to put everything in the wash including coats and scarves, and shower again to get rid of the smell. The seating was another issue. The table was infront of the cellar door and about 20 times staff apologetically squeezed past to gain access to the cellar. The cellar door also has a draft from it so I now have a stiff neck from sitting next to the cold draft. You should never put a table infront of that door. The tables are all too close together, two of our table had to get up and leave the table completely so that another diner could get out of their seat at the next table, it's far too cramped and although it allows you to charge for more covers it will put folk off, it feels like everyone is in the same party. We are regular visitors but unless we can be guaranteed a table in the downstairs dining room (as was actually requested) I won't be booking again.

Another excellent meal at Coopers in a very pleasant atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Coopers is a great establishment and we feel fortunate it’s our local.

Was voted the best Sunday Roast in Derbyshire and deserves that title

Couldn't have been more helpful. We needed to change our booking as some of the group couldn't make it - no problem. Needed the chicken without the sauce (allergy) - no problem. Met by Lillie who was polite and friendly and gave us a warm greeting, apologising that the table wasn't quite ready despite the fact we were early. Looked after by Tori T who is an absolute gem. It is so unusual to meet waiting staff with personality and Tori T has it in bucket loads. Genuine smile, great engagement with the whole party. Would we go again? Too right we will.

We had a fabulous experience here. Lillie gave us a warm welcome as we came in but for us the star of the show (other than the food) was our waitress Tori T. At last a waitress with a personality and not afraid to use it. Genuine smile, nice gentle and humorous attempt to get all of us into the dessert menu (ask her about breaking biscuits in half so all the calories fall out). The chefs are great - food superb. This dedicated carnivore found the carrots especially good and the leek and cheese worked very well. Not pressured into leaving any tip - but food and service we had certainly warranted it and a genuine thanks for doing so.

Always a treat to eat at The Coopers Arms. The food is superb (especially the lamb shank), the service is efficient and friendly and all is reasonably priced. Looking forward to many more visits.

Lovely location and great carvery

8 of us went on new year's day for the carvery was looking forward to it but we were all disappointed as all our meals were Luke warm so didn't enjoy as we all love our food hot so won't be eating here again

Lovely place, traditional food always well cooked and very tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful. Can be a little bit cold sometimes as it's an older building but nothing a cardigan can't fix.

Best carvery bar none we've had .

Chose carvery on the visit. Decent range and an impressive home-made nut roast was particularly good. Red cabbage excellent, leeks not so good. Service good but staff should ask if the customer wants ice and lemon in a glass of water rather than automatically bringing it ( ice on a very chilly day...no thanks). Creme Brulee was good.

It was alright but to be honest, it was just an expensive carvery.

Excellent carvery. food fresh and refreshed regularly, a lot of customers (reservations advisable especially more than 2-4 people or a popular time) - no hard roast potatoes or vegetables dried out on the carvery buffet. Good beer choice. We have eaten here several times, consistently excellent. Lakeside outdoor tables very pleasant in summer. Exceptionally good customer staff, considerate and good at anticipating needs of customers including older and with disabilities. Steps inside, best to reserve in advance if applicable.

We went here for a meal With my parents having booked a table for 9 with a holding deposit of 80 pound. We turned up and were made to wait 45 minutes for our table. Not impressed with this at all really given the standard of this establishment. We weren't even offered a drink to compensate the wait and with 4 children aswell not ideal. So bear this in mind when you go as it wasn't just us this happened to. The food was great however no complaints about that.

Beautiful Christmas Carvery went there on 5th December 2024.

We went for lunch and it was excellent beautifully decorated for Christmas and a festive menu.

Lovely place for a drink although it was a cold day we sat outside because of the views it was really nice. It's a bit expensive but everything going up in price so not really their fault. So nice staff and a decent drink.

Food was ok we had carvery , the food could have been a bit more hotter plates were Cold so not good

I was very interested in booking a table here after it came up on my browser as a great place to go for Sunday lunch. Most of the photos show stunning looking food, that made your mouth water. However one of the carvery photos showed cooked joints of meat, on red chopping boards.! The red boards should only be used for raw meat, specifically, to avoid cross contamination. To have a blatant disregard for health and hygiene on Show, made me decide not to bother booking.

The best carvery we've eaten. Beef and pork joints were delicious and tender . Followed by sticky toffee pudding which was also perfect. Lovely service too. We'll be back 👌

Excellent Carvery, in a lovely setting.

Carvery was very nice,the seating was uncomfortable the table was a bit small for three people. Overall a very nice place and I would go again.

Great food and they have rattler on tap

I had a date dinner with my wife here. It was one of the best restaurants I tried in the UK. Great food quality and portions. Great and friendly service and atmosphere 👌🏻

They let there customers vape while your sat eating your dinner in the bar area, while your with your families, children and babies. They said it’s allowed in the bar area, other than that, Great food though.

My first visit, this definitely won't be the last: the service was genuinely warm and friendly, the food was lovely, and the atmosphere was welcoming. My only gripe was that there was no pudding that took my fancy, but that's hardly their fault!

We would like to say what a pleasure it was when we visited this lunchtime. The food was excellent and it was a pleasure to be served by Tierni who was bubbly, friendly and extremely helpful in all we asked of her. She couldn't do enough for us. Thank you, we will be back soon.

Best Sunday dinner I've ever had!

We visited for lunch, we both had the carvery. I had the Pork and Beef, and my partner had the Nutroast. The food was great, full of flavour and not bland like some places. The service was excellent, and the young lady who looked after us was great. I would recommend The Coopers Arms.

At a whim stopped by on a Friday night, not been here for a few years, was surprised they no longer had a specials board. But opted for the carvery which was fresh and delicious. Staff wonderful, special shout out for the lady behind the carvery deck who was lovely and friendly and never stopped all night

We popped in late in the evening, just before the carvery was about to close, and relaxed in the bar with our friends and their dog. The place has a great, traditional atmosphere, and it’s a top choice whether you're looking for a drink, a meal, or both! Which we definitely recommend! The food was fantastic as always, with great quality and very reasonable prices that easily outshine any chain carvery. We couldn’t resist ordering dessert and ended up sharing an Oreo cheesecake and a sticky toffee pudding. Both were incredibly moreish and decadent, perfect for sharing and the ideal sweet finish to our meal.

Really nice place. Recently, I booked for 14 of us to go for a Sunday carvery, a decision made in no small part because most people seem to love a carvery for their Sunday dinner, however I was the outlier in our group for not being a fan. I usually can't stand them, roast potatoes that wouldn't look out of place being fired out of cannons during the civil war, sorrowful veg that looks like it had lost the will to carry on long before it was plucked from the earth and Yorkshire puddings that you can knock nails in with just isn't my thing but sometimes it's easier to just go with the flow and find something that the majority will like. Faced with the fact that I might have to pick around the bits that looked suspect and maybe, if nothing else, I'll be able to take a piece of dry meat home to file my nails with later, I braced myself and took the plunge... ...Yeah, I'm an idiot for thinking those things and I'll happily accept that. My fears were soon dispelled as this was spot on and a very welcome change from the usual cheap n' cheerful carvery fare offered elsewhere. Myself and the rest of our party thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. Pricier? Yes. Unacceptably pricier? No. Worth it? Absolutely. The kids meals were well received. The service was great (both waiting & bar staff). The overall vibe of the place was very welcoming. My only regret? Not staying for dessert. Maybe next time? If anyone from the Cooper's Arms is reading this, you've got a good thing going. Keep it up!

Came here for my fathers birthday. We had the carvery and the steak pie of the a la carte menu. There was plenty of food and the meat was plentiful and normally I have no complaints. But this time my friend and I found that the roast potatoes were hard as nails. So we left them, we saw other diners also leave them. Once i ordered at the bar, the staff didn't bring us any cutlery and when the meal arrived I had to go and find some. We ordered desserts, but again the plates weren't taken away before the Deserts came out. So I did find this an inconvenience. I will return, but next time I will have to raise the complaints. With it being my fathers birthday I didn't want to create a fuss. Hopefully my next visit will be better.

The coopers will always be my favourite place. Went today for lunch. Would have been my late mother's 90 th birthday. This was her favourite place too. Lovely hot fresh food. Wide choice . Lovely staff. Organised and incredibly well run by James and Vicky who are professional and so hard working. Excellent value for quality food.

When you park up the place does look shut, but try the door and you will be treated to lovely food. We went midweek and had Carvery which was faultless.

Beautiful place well worth a visit

The manager decided our IDs and passports were fake and refused to serve us. He thought our IDs were fake and even when he was proven wrong he would not serve us. Horrible service and manager was rude will not come again and would not recommend

Pub is situated next to a nice lake. Food was good, lots of drinks to choose from. Service could improve, was slow and not proactive.

Food mediocre, small portions. Prices medium to high. Tables set close together. Small car park. Therefore parking can be difficult

Amazing Gluten-free Carvery!! Could have everything except the stuffing, but didn't even miss it as everything else was excellent! Big proper Yorkshire puds and not rock hard frozen ones like other places offer! All 8 of us loved our meals...5 adults & 3 Children. I'm the only Gluten-free and didn't feel I was missing out at all, as my meal was as amazing as everyone else's!! 👌🏼♥️

First time ever that we had been to this venue. Four of us sat upstairs in the conservatory overlooking the lake. Wonderful food. We all ordered off the menu, so not tried the Calvary yet. By no means cheap, but excellent quality and therefore great value. Even the chips were home made and definitely not cooked from frozen. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. 4 empty plates at the end of the meal says it all! Will definitely book to go again. Great place to eat for a special occasion.

We used to live in Weston and The Coopers was always excellent. Over the last 5 years or so we felt it had lost its way a little. Quality and choice were behind the times. Today, we popped in for lunch. First class, it was only lunch, but baguettes and paninis with interesting fillings and nice fresh side salads. Great selection of beers and we sat outside next to the lake. It has really upped its game again. We shall be trying an evening meal here for sure.

Wow what a great meal, slightly more expensive but worth the money. So much meat and great quality, would of preferred to chose my own roast potatoes and the cheese sauce could of been cheesier, wish there were parsnips but overall was lovely, very fresh and warm....I noticed the food was continuously being topped up and the chefs serving actually seemed to enjoy what they do and were super helpful

The best carvery I’ve ever had, friendly welcoming staff and what an amazing location. Not only do you get five star service and a lovely atmosphere you get views over looking a fishing lake. Mash was light and creamy with meat that melted in your mouth. All veg soft and stuffing that was 10/10 I would recommend this place to every one. A group us are trying new places all the time and this is the place we are comparing to and nothing has come close.

I have visited a number of times. This visit was a celebratery gathering for a 70th birthday. Allocated a separate annexe room that contributed to a real, special occasion and outcome. A variety of meals on offer to meet today's dietary needs across the whole spectrum. Cannot find any fault with the venue, staff, and meals on offer. The Carvery is exceptional

This pub/restaurant is in a lovely setting; countryside, lakeside etc with a fabulous and interesting historic building. We visited on a Sunday and the car park, although large, was chaotic. The Sunday menu is mainly their carvery and the food was good. The waiting staff were helpful and clearly very busy. However, the person carving meat was obviously harassed perhaps by the 'busyness' of the day.

I've visited the Coopers Arms many times and it's never failed to impress. The location and surroundings are great, it's an old house dating back hundreds of years with lots of history. The beer garden is large with views over a fishing lake. Whenever I've been I've always had a carvery which in my opinion ranks as one of the best in the Derby area. I normally have the lamb shank which is a very generous size, but all the carvery options are good. There is one vegetarian carvery option. It's an old building on multiple levels and as such there will always be some steps you have to use so limited easy accessibility. The service is great and very friendly. It does get very busy, especially at weekends so there can be a wait for getting your food. It's essential to book at weekends and especially on a Sunday. Been many times and I'll definitely be visiting again soon.

Brilliant carvery on Sunday at The Coopers Arms. Was our first visit, but definitely won't be the last. Service, quality of food & setting was all top tier. We had starters, the carvery (amazing beef & lamb shank) & then dessert. All very high quality & good value for money. Would recommend.
