Seven Wells in South Derbyshire

Our first visit today for Sunday lunch. The food was nice could have been warmer unfortunately the service was really slow. We had to stop a waitress as we waited over 10 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink this took ages to come. We waited over 30 minutes for our meal which may have explained why it was not very warm. The decor is really nice and the staff pleasant and apologised for our long wait for drinks and food.

Emmey was absolutely brilliant, she was so attentive and lovely. A really great meal, thanks Emmey, please keep up the great service. Dave

We had a lovely meal here and nothing was too much trouble. We had a private booth with a telly. The food was delicious. Our table service was excellent. Abi was our server and she we great.

Went here on passing today 24/04/2024 as we needekd a break from travelling it was a most enjoyable experience good fod good price and great friendly staff recommended

Had a lovely lunch with friends at this fantastic pub. Staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was fantastic and the pub was very clean and spacious. The outdoor area looks fantastic too. Will definitely be back to visit soon.

Today was my birthday and we went to the seven wells It was lovely as always served by James and the amazing Fran and Chelsea they even sang happy birthday which I thought was a lovely touch xx

First time visiting the pub & made to feel welcome the moment we walked through the doors. Everyone was polite and nothing was a bother. 100% would come back again. Many thanks to Sarah and the team for the lovely experience! Also love that the pub is dog friendly❤️

We visited with family who we hadn't seen for a long time. Two of the group had scampi - cant go wrong in a deep fat fryer really. Two of us had chicken skewers and although my nephew ate his as he was starving hungry, mine was left on the plate as it was like a row of hockey pucks - as was my nephews but he's no quitter! The other two of the company had a burger each which they ate, but said it was mediocre. The sauces were nice so I was able to dip a bit of the flat bread in and at least had something to eat, but having just arrived from a long journey down from Scotland it was very disappointing. I did tell the lovely waitress (Abby? maybe - she was very good) about it but was still charged for my inedible food so, in conclusion, I can only deduce that the money is more important than the reputation - which is very often the case with chains. I wouldn't bother again.

Had a lovely meal here. Steak was cooked to perfection.. Great service from a young lady called Abigail. She was very attentive and made us feel very welcome.

Really comfortable surroundings allowed my wife and myself to unwind and reconnect after a busy working week. Lovely greeting and a friendly goodbye on exit. There is plenty of free parking with disabled access and parking. They have outdoor booths, which I was a little reluctant to try as the weather was very windy this weekend. However, better temperatures are just round the corner, and we'll definitely sit outside for drinks or food. Only 10 minutes away from Derby and easy to reach by car.

Very good meals and the staff are brilliant. Chicken Tikka banquet is an excellent meal. Katsu Chicken. Wow. Lovely taste and the Chicken Fajitas are worth a try UPDATE. New menu's are now out. Not as good I'm sorry to say which is a shame. No Chicken Tikka or Fajitas on a Sunday menu which is a shame.Not the staff's fault but when a child's roast us bigger than the Skewers off the main Sunday menu for an adult main course meal. Menu picture shows two skewers but only one was on the plate. I will be on the Greene King website complaining. IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT !!!!!!!! Another update. New menu's are available and the roast dinners now don't have mashed potatoes just roast and veg. How sad that a roast dinner that doesn't have mashed potatoes. New update. 9.7.23 unfortunately cooking standards are slipping a little. I'm wondering if the cooking staff are still happy when they're cooking

I came here for a gammon, chips and peas. It was cooked beautifully, flavour was incredible. My waiter was Emmy, she was very welcoming and had a smile on her face the whole time. It wasn’t too busy but still food was flying out for everyone. 10/10 would come again.

Usual fare small mix grill but otherwise excellent.april 24 very slow service.

We go here quite often and the food is always pretty good, bank holiday Monday was very, very busy though which sometimes means a drop in service or quality. Not this time! The boys behind the bar were brilliant, always happy and pleasant, the kitchen staff must have been so busy but food was top notch, cooked to perfection. The most amazing part was Emmy, she was soooo busy but was always smiling and couldn’t do enough for you. Emmy needs a pay rise!

A lovely pub. It wasn't that busy but the service didn't have enough menus and took longer than you'd expect! After ordering the food took a very long time (35+mins) and some of the food wasn't hot. We had to send it back, but that sorted it. I'd definitely go again, as I liked the atmosphere and the serving staff were lovely, I'd just like it to be a bit quicker!

Our waitress Lisa is an absolute gem. She always has a welcoming smile as we arrive and is incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. Food is delicious especially the fish and chips, all at a good price

Well, what can I say. A brilliant evening in a lovely pub. Food was spectacular, will be recommending to friends. Had the mixed grill and probably don’t need to eat for a week! Thank you Seven Wells team for a wonderful evening.

I had a good time visiting. The food was exceptional, although it arrived a bit slow. I was served by a server called Fin, who was extremely helpful during my time at the Seven Wells.

Food was good, really enjoyed the atmosphere, Emmy the server was very sweet and polite would easily come again.

I went for a meal at the seven wells today. It was absolutely lovely I had an amazing waitress called emmy. She was so kind and had a smile on her face the whole time while waiting on us. When I got my meal she spoke so nicely to us. I had an amazing meal and it was really tasty.

Very cosy place with a nice garden. The prices are reasonable and the food was really good. The vegan food as well. The stuff is welcoming and attentive.

We were served by a lovley lady her name on the badge was Lisa, we visited on Thursday. I can honestly say it was great she was so helpful and and polite. We'll definitely be going there again.

Great service from Chelsea who went above and beyond for us as a family when we came to visit. Our son wanted a slightly different dessert and this was no problem for her.

We have been visiting this place with my family for the past few years. We really love it , love the atmosphere and the food. We visited the pub again last week on Sunday and we were served by a lady called Chelsea. She was really lovely, very attentive and very patient. We will definitely come back again!

Called in at the weekend was impressed with this pub. Dogs allowed which is a bonus. Food was lovely and the service was great Thank you we will call again when we next down visiting family 😊

Please do not order chicken sharer. Food was good until we tasted chicken wings. Tastes like nothing but rock salt!! So I pay for the food only to be taken away(just the wings part) saying that that's how the food was received from the supplier. I would understand if the food flavour was different and that's how you served but just to serve something that taste's like pure salt and say that's what we serve is not acceptable!! Thank God, I don't have high BP!! Probably would have needed to take a pill right after, if I was. A blatant lie of offering something and we declinining !! No wonder we need cameras everywhere nowadays. There goes one more star.

Superb, they have a large dedicated car park with plenty of outdoor seating and guys and spacious welcoming interior. Well laid out with several different seating areas. Staff gave a warm welcome, attentive service. The weekday lunch food menu is good value and the dishes are well cooked, presented and good portions. We had bang bang cauliflower and crispy squid, Excellent. Grilled Salmon and being Burger also superb. Several interesting Ales, well kept and served. We will be back (often).

Me and my boyfriend came in for a meal on the weekend. The food was lovely. So was the staff. The service was even better! Our waitress was Chelsea she was lovely and attentive. She recommended me the chargrill chicken skewer. My boyfriend had the chicken burger. And it was fantastic! Will 100% come here again. And definitely recommend.

All of our party (4) enjoyed their starters and main courses. Servers were helpful and timing was good.

I have eaten at the Seven Wells many times over the years, and every time the service is brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff working there. The food is excellent, there is a great choice on the menu. Thank you Seven Wells, you are one of our go-to local pubs!

Food was disgusting ordered a Hunters Chicken.Sorry to say a Sparrow was bigger. Walls and Radiators were disgusting food everywhere. Toilets were disgusting. If there was a zero I would give it. Be a long time before I even enter the place.

Great meal enjoyed the food. Nice inside a little dated but smart and clean and comfortable. Seating outside for the better weather.

This was an excellent experience, we came here for a last minute date, the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us, the food was on point, and the beer was fantastic. All in all a brilliant night. Many thanks to the staff

Had a really nice lunch here, after it was recommended by a friend. It is such a nice place to relax, the service was quick and food was served hot, I had the Hunters chicken, it was really tasty and a cheesecake for pudding.. I will return as my friend had the steak and they look amazing!!

The location was full of diners. Was told that there was a 30 minute wait on food which was okay. The starter arrived after around 15 minutes, the chicken goujouns were slightly dry, but we ate them. The main course arrived after another 30 minutes or so, the plates had not been cleared from the starters, so we weren't impressed with that. The salmon (we order 3 of them) was very dry. 1 was literally crunchy, it was that dry. The other 2 were were not moist at all and were themselves slightly crunchy. My sister left over half of her salmon, and when they eventually came to clear the plates away, never asked how the meal was, or why there was 3/4 of a piece of salmon left!!!!!! I was seething, as it was a treat for a couple of family members! I have been to this eatery several times, and came back because the lunchtime salmon was amazing last time around. There was no courtesy visit from staff during any of the courses, as they were so busy. This visit was a real let down. I will not be recommending this location again. If they can't cope with the volume, then they need to cut down the food table availability. My sister went back to the bar for a second round of drinks, and even though there was no one else at the bar, 2 members of staff were chin-wagging at the other end and totally ignored her for over 3 minutes. Atrocious service. Won't be visiting again!!!! Update........... We are still in the pub 20 minutes after we finshed the food, and I have managed to catch 2 members of staffs eyes who were behind the bar. Both of them chose to ignore me. PURE RACISM!!!!!!!!! Further update....... Lowered to 1*! I approached the Manager who was the lady who saw me beckon her over. She admitted she saw me beckon her. Which meant that she deliberately ignored us. I was met with the excuse that she was on the phone to her Dr, as she had an issue. I did notice her on the phone, but that was prior to me beckoning her over. At the end of the day, we were still paying customers. She had looked over at me 3 times since that call and chose to ignore me. I pointed out that she was not the only member of staff to ignore me and the customer service was absolutely abysmal. I was met with an 'I don't really a hoot' attitude. At this point, I wasn't going to stay and argue, telling her that she could read my review online.

Food was very poor starter was over cooked then the main came it was very dry i paid £10 for under cooked potatoes and fish I could eat . No one came to check if everything was OK. We beckoned the waitress 2 looked over and both ignored us. When we were leaving we had a word with the manager who said she was on the phone as she had issues. Well we all have issues. We went for a meal as we have issues and thought we would have a lovely meal. Well it was quite the opposite. The way she spoke to us was unbelievable . Think she is racist. Will not be going there again

Great night food was great (Tomahawk Steak & cheesecake) no complaints

We had a really nice chicken skewer meal, quality has improved a lot since our last visit well done. We will be calling again. The pub had lots of people eating mid afternoon another good sign busy tables.

My husband had sirloin £18 was cold ,gravy dry and thick for £61 they can do much better my salmon £16.99;was plain baby potatoes hard vegetables cooked "grill " not effort we are not impressed dessert was ok we are never back again

Very nice place, Chloe our waitress was lovely and helped us throughout the night, shame there was no tomahawk steak as that's the only reason we came. However, the service was very good. Thanks Chloe - will be back.👍

Some staff need to have a training how to speak to the customers.Bought a juice for a kid and juice was like sparkling sour juice,so it’s telling me its no good.women at the bar,telling me this is not a case and my kid just didn’t like a juice thats why i want another one for free basically.Why I would make some much hassle if my daughter wouldn’t like a juice,in this case I would get her another one.But why my daughter should be drinking juice which is not good and wait till she get poorly.Poor

Venue Food Drinks and Staff all Brilliant.

I really enjoyed my food last night & the service was great too. We came in a large party & my food was piping hot. I especially enjoyed the chocolate celebration dessert.

Shown to our table quickly. The bench seat we sat on had been drawn in by kids! I'm not saying the team hadn't tried to clean it off but it was not nice to see. Maybe parents need to be told to ensure their children do not draw all over the furniture and walls. !!! Food was lovely and freshly served. Service was attentive.

Having booked for a large group last minute after another establishment let us down we weren't sure what to expect on a busy Sunday lunch. But the food, staff and organisation were 100% spot on and we had fantastic feedback from everyone in our party-the roasts in particular were exceptional and all dietary requirements easily catered for. Very impressed and will certainly be back.

Went for Sunday dinner very disappointed the beef was inedible couldn’t even cut it a member of staff who was very polite asked if it Was ok obviously told him no explained he kindly replaced it with turkey however again the meat was awful and had the taste and consistency of like it was boiled very very disappointing and a waste of hard earned money was shocked as I’d seen good reviews

I recently visited Seven Wells in Derby, and it truly lives up to its beautiful name. The ambience is perfect for enjoying drinks with colleagues and friends, capturing the essence of a classic British pub. The staff is friendly, and I appreciate their hospitality, even allowing me to film a reel for Instagram. A delightful experience overall.

I took my family out for food & drinks. Well it wasn't a Pleasant experience. all off our food was cold. I asked for it to go back and be reheated. one of the Waitress was Extremely rude as she servied out food at the table. for the price off our meal it Definitely wasn't worth the money. the gentleman that was behind the bar (james ) was so wonderful helpful & so Pleasant to talk to he is a credit to company. I won't recommend several Wells to my friends and family.

Really nice food but it was cold inside the pub. Unfortunately they are going through a cost cutting problem where they can't put the heating on.

Very nice food. Warm atmosphere. Wanted a booth table but unable to accommodate.

Food was good, drinks were pretentious and on the expensive side. Atmosphere spoilt by a couple of apparently regulars effin and jeffin not far from us. Would call in fir a snack if passing but wouldn't travel out of my way to revisit.

Massive thank you to the staff at The Seven Wells, Etwall, for their hospitality today. They accommodated our small family group in a quiet area so that my Dad, who has hearing loss, could enjoy his birthday meal without background noise and music. Great food and drink and the staff looked after us excellently. Highly recommended 10/10

Disappointing! Burgers were very small, chicken skewer contained just three pieces of chicken. Will not be returning.

Ordered 1 fish and chips and 2 mixed grills, fish and chips was overcooked and dry. One of the mixed grills had raw chicken which we sent back only to be given the exact place back which caused cross contamination and then the other mixed grill the chicken was overcook and dry. The table next to us also sent food back. Not impressed as this used to be our come too place but the last few times it has massively gone downhill. Will not be returning and do not recommend

Great food, can't really say anymore as it was Tuesday lunchtime and it was really quiet. That said, the barman had as much go in him as a octogenarian, got the impression we were interrupting his time on his phone!

Can’t fault the Seven Wells , it’s consistently good every time we visit , the price you pay for the food is spot on. It’s always our go to when we want good pub food. What does stand out is their well trained staff, always polite , well presented and give an efficient service.

You need to go here!!! This is by far one of the best pubs around and even more so being a Greene king pub! 👑 The staff are all super lovely, I've visited with friends and with a kiddo in the group and they always accommodate for us, the menu is absolutely spot on with a wide variety of meals all full of flavour and cooked to perfection, their chef should take a bow for the steak alone, their sharer steak is very reasonably priced and comes with all the sides and extras you could want. I've also had the fish and chips and burger from their lunch menu and for the price it's absolutely stonking value, if you're ever in the area you should deffo pop in here for a nice cold beverage and some grub. Their outdoor seating is great too with heated canopy seating and inside is just lovely too. A real gem, I hope they never change as it's perfect and will be regularly returning as it's just so good! Management and the team, take a bow! Edited today. 20/7/23 Seems the standard here has dropped significantly in the name of inflation and it shows, the tomahawk steak is no longer a sharer yet still the same price, no sides, no tomatoes or mushrooms just steak and chips, you pay extra for another sauce now whereas you used to get two portions of sides and sauces cause it's TO SHARE. arrived as a group for a celebration and the food all came out wrong, cold, soggy side salad on kids menu, and steak undercooked, send back then returned overcooked. Real shame as this was our regular food haunt and now it's turned into average grub at a pricetag, not worth the money and only accepted a small discount as was celebrating and didn't want the hassle. Probably won't return.

Little poor. Got order wrong, had to wait till re order. Everybody in the group nearly finished. Before mine arrived.

Disappointed tonight. Not been for ages. Normally cannot fault it. Had to ask for someone to take our order. Food arrived.. chips were undercooked and the cheese looked as though it had been thrown at the garlic bread. Our server was only 2 shifts in and was super nervous (sarah) otherwise I would have complained. Not a good meal which was surprising!

Fast service with drinks and food. Pretty good food overall although we didn't think the chips had been cooked long enough and were a little hard in the middle. Most of the meat on the mixed grill was overcooked and dry. We'd come again....

Very good service but I had a rib eye steak and spent a lot of time removing the sinews. I had quite a pile of inedible bits .
