Mill House in South Derbyshire

Evening meal that was delicious. Kids also enjoyed their food with no issues. Soft play also. So lots to make it an enjoyable visit.

We visited the Mill House for a birthday breakfast on the 20th of April 2024. Three Adults and two children we had a fantastic experience , the breakfast was great and the service excellent we were looked after very nicely by Charlotte. This was our first visit to the Mill House and we will certainly be returning. Martin.

Booked a table for "balcony" area for a family birthday get together, arrived and were offered a table the opposite side of the pub. I asked if we could move to a none reserved table in the balcony area, the reply was "yes, but don't book again"! Very rude male member of staff,

Had a lovely morning at the mill house. Was welcomed by Charlotte who attended a graze on my child's hand. Drinks and food was offered swiftly. Lovely little soft play for little ones and breakfast was very nice. Thank you Charlotte for your hospitality and making us feel welcome.

We should have gone bowling for our grandsons birthday but had to change plans at the last minute due to an accident on the road causing gridlock so we decided to go to the Mill House to see if we could fit in for a meal and let the kids go in the Wacky warehouse! Adam and his team were brilliant! Adam got us a table despite it being busy and the member of staff that was looking after the Wacky was very helpful and entertained the grandkids too! Chloe who worked on the bar was great too. There were 9 of us eating and the food was great with all of us clearing our plates! Thanks Adam and the rest of the team.

Whenever we go to the mill house, the service is good! The staff are always happy to assist with any queries we have! Adam helps with menu choice and ensures it is served correctly! Ria is really nice, she is always smiling and looks after us well! The Mill House is somewhere that is cheap and cheerful! 🙂

My friend and I visit each month for lunch and a chat We are always made to feel welcome and the staff are very friendly Although busy the food came out quickly and was hot and well presented Great value on pub classics choice Although we travel from Hatton and Swadlincote it is well worth the journey as we know we will have a good experience

I come here regularly with my children as they really enjoy both the wacky warehouse softplay and the dinners. Becky is always really good with the kids and gives quick service. Dane is always a friendly face on a weekend

Absolutely great. Staff fully aware of there roles. Food was large portions. Very tasty. Better than corner house pub owned by same company. They never asked if food was ok once. Staff at Mill House asked if food was ok for both starter and mains. Plates removed so not sat with them Infront of us. Food was cooked just as we liked it. Portions was more than enough. Food was presented with care & consideration on plates. Had nice chat with Asst Manageress. Adam stood out with service skills. Looks like we found our new weekly public house for food. Keep up the good service. Outstanding.

What can I say….: NYE and Tom was amazing. An absolute credit to the Millhouse. The service was friendly and even though I burnt my hand on the hot plate the team got me ice and made sure I was ok.

My family Visited on the 18th December for the Neil Diamond Turkey and Tinsel the place was very clean and tidy and very festive we got greeted by Becky who showed us to the table. Food was amazing and very hot thanks to Adam in the kitchen The staff that was behind the bar was very helpful and polite the Manager was always making sure we all enjoyed our visit. Will deffo book again for next year.

Hope they can open soon! Myself and my family came just before lockdown and was amazed with the service they provided us with. All covid measures were in place and the cleanliness of the pub was excellent! Definitely a pub to visit when we can!

I meet my friend here as it has a good car park and the good is reasonably priced.Bar service is quite often slow but the staff are very polite. I order food at the bar and pay for it and the food is delivered to the table.My friend had mac and cheese and I had fish and chips because I know it's freshly cooked. This time though it looked like my fish had been dropped as it was in 3 pieces and soggy. It looked horrible and really should not have been brought to the table at all. I sent it back, the staff apologised and brought me a fresh one which was very tasty.

I can never fault the Millhouse, they are always accommodating and welcoming. With all these new covid restrictions they have got it right. I feel soo safe here and the food is so nice you can never get fed up of it. Thank you guys and see you all soon.

I called yesterday to book My Christmas dinner with the mill house. The manager I spoke to was brilliant! So helpful in regards to their new booking system and couldn’t be more reassuring as to what happens with the current pandemic. After coming in last month I felt more safe sitting and having food in a pub than going to do my weekly food shop. All being well I cannot wait to come and spend our Christmas Day with such a brilliant team!

JustEatI can’t wait for the Mill House to re-open.I love their food and especially love the fact that i can have their lovely food in the comfort of my own home.Food is always piping hot and with a short delivery time which i love! Can’t wait to pig out again soon hopefully!!

Had a lovely birthday meal here with my family, even with all the restrictions in place the team made it a great atmosphere, from the nice welcome at the door to the service we received during our visit. The food was also great, nice and hot. Will be returning with my family again after lockdown.

I visited here with my family just before going into lockdown number 2. The team were really nice, so friendly and helpful. I was unsure on how to use the app so the lady helped me place my order and actually it’s really easy to use. The food was lovely, great on price as well. I will be returning again once reopen.

Saw the mill house on the too good to go app and went to collect a lockdown bag and some beer! Absolutely brilliant! There was a great range of food in the bag which fed all our family of 5 a decent meal! We love gammon and eggs! Was great to sit with the husband and enjoy a nice cold pint or 2 after the kids had gone to bed. The manager who I spoke to when I collected was brilliant we got talking about the Christmas decorations that were being put up at the time and I asked about Christmas Day bookings, she was more than helpful going through the booking process and the menu is an absolute bargain! I think I need to go and collect the hubby some more beer so I can persuade him into having a Christmas out of the house haha! Keep up the hard work guys, the decorations look amazing by the way!

As a family, we have visited the Mill House a few times recently. We have always had great food, at a great price, with great service from Amy & the team. We would particularly recommend both the steak & the gammon, which are excellent value for money. The safety measures in place have ensured that we have never felt worried. Would definitely recommend a visit

Fabulous experience at the Mill House on Friday night. Had excellent service by the manager Amy who recommended to get the mix it up as we was unsure as to what we fancied to eat! Most delicious meal ever! I customised my meal by picking sizzler, sauce and TWO sides that I fancied! Amazing recommendation Amy thank you so much! All staff were excellent and provided excellent customer service towards us. Was very welcoming when we arrived and throughout our stay ensured we was happy with our food and drinks and then when we were leaving we received a lovely goodbye. Will be back soon. Thank you.

I came here last night and was very impressed with all of the procedures put in place to ensure the pub is safe! Staff was very polite and helped me download the app to order my food at the comfort of my own table.My food came out quick and the quality of food was amazing.Our drinks that was also ordered from the app came out very quick too.I would definitely recommend visiting the Millhouse.Will be back soon.Thank you

The staff are rude, unhygienic and have no respect for their customers. They don’t follow the social distancing rules and floor markings, we ordered desserts and after over half an hour we had to complain and because we paid through their app we didn’t even get a direct refund, just the money back onto our account and still no dessert. Most of the staff were just stood around talking and one of the members who was serving food had severe body odour which you could smell every time she came near the table. Also, we had to send our friend’s chips back because they were undercooked and cold. SHOCKING.

I came for food with my partner as we haven’t been out into society much since the pandemic started. I can honestly say from the minute we entered the pub we felt welcomed, safe and looked after. The pub had a great atmosphere, the food was lovely and all the staff were very attentive and helpful! I’ve missed not being able to have a gin and tonic in the pub and it’s safe to say their range has got bigger since lockdown! Thank you for looking after us and for working so hard under the stress and uncertainty you are currently going through!

Came to the Millhouse for breakfast this morning and was amazed at how polite and helpful the staff were. We came around 9am this morning and the staff informed us that they now open at 8am for breakfast which is amazing! My BPS breakfast was delicious and I would highly recommend as the quality of food is amazing especially with such affordable prices! Each staff member working was lovely, it was so nice to see that all staff were working above and beyond to ensure we receive the best customer service as well as being COVID safe within the pub. It made me feel so safe and comfortable that procedures are clearly in place.I will definitely be coming in again. Thank you guys for the lovely experience once again.

Came with my family for a meal out and it was great!The staff were all very warm and welcoming and showed us their new rules and made us feel very at ease. When we sat down a young man came and took our order and then all we had to do was sit back and wait, within minutes our drinks came to us and our food soon after, I highly recommend it for a family meal, also a nice place to sit it the summer by the canal.

Was a little nervous, with the current situation while eating out, but came to the Millhouse in stretton, when we approached the door we was greeted by a host, who was lovely and talked us through everything we needed to know! The service was fab, we sat and order everything through the order and pay app.The food was hot and tasty, the place wasn’t overly busy but was warm and welcoming.. Thank you will be back again soon for the Mix it up!

Came on Wednesday for a meal and enjoyed the curry deal. The food was really nice. The pub felt very safe as the staff all wearing masks and ran through the new procedures with us. Thank you very much.

Was my first experience at the millhouse and i can say the staff were lovely, they were all polite and well mannered. They had a brilliant deal where you could have a big plate special from a selected menu for £6.50. Absoulout bargain for the amount of food there was and the food itself was lovely, will definitley be returning.

Use greene King pubs regularly and this is worst by far locally. Asked for no dressing on salad and it was swimming in it. Curry I had was cold other than rice which was only warm thing about meal. Onion bhajis where terrible staff laughed and said yeah they are shocking I don't eat them and took them away laughing. Such a shame used to like it here but Stoke or Etwall now as was a waste. But staff seem happy and covid rules followed shame food is shocking.

Came here for a coffee and some lunch. Nice situation, by the canal. Nice beer garden, easy to order using the app. Lunch was good, coffee good and good selection of beers and lagers. Staff very nice and polite. Toilets were nice and clean too!

Called in for breakfast last week, and were impressed by procedures put into place.It really appeared that the staff took the Covid situation seriously, and there was continual cleaning and sanitizing going on.Steak and Eggs breakfast was good (reminded me of Scottish holidays)Service was prompt , and staff were friendly and professional.Well done Management and Staff

Telephoned to check there was a table free. Made very welcome on arrival. Social distancing and cleanliness very evident. Shown to table. Opted to download and order via the app. Lovely play area outside kept the children happy until the food arrived. Served promptly. The girls meals were good, they really enjoyed them. I ordered a cheese and red onion melt, no baguettes available so ordered a wrap. The wrap was cold and the cheese was not melted, asked for it to be cooked more. It came back, cheese still was not melted and the wrap was full of the onion ‘Chutney’ with minimal cheese. Handed it back to a member of staff explained the situation and said that I did not want it. A few minutes later one of the waitresses brought me a till receipt which showed that the money for the wrap had been refunded. She explained that the wraps arrive at the restaurant pre packed and if they are heated too much the wraps become hard, which had led to complaints. When the desserts arrived they were all lovely, I was delighted to have a good sized piece of chocolate fudge cake as I was ravenous. As previously mentioned the service was very good. Shame about the wrap.

Visited with my family last week, and was served by a lady called Lish, she went above and beyond during our visit, From making us feel very welcome to ensuring safety measures of social distancing was always being adhered to. Bonus- it was 50 percent off the meal too!The food was amazing, and Lish ensured we had everything we needed during our meal. Lovely place, lovely staff, and amazing food. would defo recommend.

We went for a meal on Wednesday evening, it was busy which I’m assuming because of the “eat out to help out” we had a lovely meal and drinks. Visited last Sunday (19th) Great atmosphere in the pub with guidelines clearly put in place to promote social distancing creating a safe pub! Would definitely recommend this pub to everyone.. Excellent outside seating looking out to the canal with an outside bar! Superb service throughout the whole pub; Bar service was great and drinks came out quick despite how busy it was! Clear cleaning monitor in the pub ensuring everywhere was clean! Overall very impressed with the service and would definitely visit again! Thank you to all of the staff who was working on Sunday you were all amazing!

Came here with a group of friends for our first drink since lockdown, was shown to a table by a very friendly girl I think her name was Nicole. Food was excellent as always and the place was very clean 👍🏼

Brilliant pub. First time back after months and It was as if I never left. Staff really friendly and Nicole in particular went through the safety regulations and explained everything very thoroughly.

called in for lunch for a quick catch up ,felt totally safe ,the staff were very efficient as were the safety measures.we found a young lady by the name of Nicole McKane to be very helpful in explaining the new rules and how they worked ,will definitely call in again

Went here for lunch today and we were quite nervous, due to the current situation. We did not need to worry at all. We were greeted by Nicole in a lovely manner and given a thorough explanation of how the pub is currently being run. Kieran behind the bar was very pleasant and took our order, then arranged for our drinks to be brought over. Nial came out with our food, (which was lovely) ensuring that we were happy and that we had all that we wanted. I was a little taken aback as I thought it was Kieran, then realised they were twins!Do not worry about visiting, all the staff were excellent. There is even someone allocated to sanitising all areas after use. Fantastic.

Visited for a drink whilst walking down the canal just as they were allowed open after lockdown s one way system in place meant having to go through the bar to go outside which was fenced off that normally isn't then had to go back through the bar to order drinks tables outside dirty not cleaned or wiped down ashtrays not emptied and leftover drinks at other tables not very good

I visited on Friday, the staff were all very friendly. Nicole on the door was very welcoming and the way the pub has been organised made me feel very safe.

I visited the pub on Monday evening with my partner. Being unsure about going back into a pub again, I can say I was put at ease. The staff were very friendly and very informative of the new procedures in place. I will definitely be visiting again.

Came in with my family after visiting friends for a drink and bite to eat before going back home. My eldest son is autistic and was getting antsy so the lovely girl on the bar, Alicia I think, offered him some colouring and told us that there was a soft play area inside or an outside play area which we made use of. Lovely atmosphere and even food coming out to customers looked amazing. Would definitely go back

Booked a Party for my 4 Y/O got there, there was another party still going on the table wasnt clear ready for the party there was nowhere to sit. Waited 10 mins n then asked how long it was going to be, said the kids could go in to the play area, I had to ask a waiter to clear 5he tables to get sorted for the Party. The party host himself, Dain, was absolutely brilliant. I felt so sorry for him, he was running everything by himself in the wacky Warehouse, there were 3 parties booked back to back, he was running around trying to make sure everything was okay, he still had a smile on his face. My sister ordered mushrooms, they were still frozen in the middle, then when they were waiting for their meal it took over half an hour even though everybody else meals had come out that were ordered after. Would not have another party here.

Visited millhouse and was served quickly and efficiently. Staff were friendly especially Sarah who served me. Despite the busy environment the service was great as was the food!!! Definitely will be returning.

Went for a meal this evening and had fantastic service from all staff but especially waitress Alicia! Having 2 very impatient kids with me they were demanding their ice cream as soon as I’d ordered desert. Alicia over heard them and come over to us and said she would go fetch them for us! Life saver.. the ice creams went down a treat aswell

Came at a very busy lunch time however floor staff were brilliant and made my stay very welcome. Plates were cleared away efficiently not long after eating. Food was good quality as well. Cant wait to come back again.

The mill house was a lovely pub just set off the main road near to the camel. Lovely atmosphere and great service great food and good surroundings. Would definitely recommend it

After avoiding here for a while due to previous rude management and poor service, we were thrilled to find the opposite yesterday. We were looked after by Amy who was lovely, helpful and friendly. Food was delicious, well cooked and well presented, all 4 of us were in agreement on this. Nice atmosphere, lovely and clean, great menu and deals. Will be happy to go again.

Starter to share arrived without cutlery plates or serviettes. Fish and chips arrived, 9 chips mushy peas dried up and fish dripping in oil. 3out of 4 meals unfinished. Coke flat, Abbot ale disgusting. No drinks finished. Staff working hard and pleasant though.

Food over cooked, missing items on our orders, drinks very poor and flat, table booked for 7 and we're given two tables.!!!!

First time visiting here and it was more than I expected, the food was of good quality and the staff provided an excellent helpful and friendly service particularly one staff member (Lish) she was lovely. The play areas are great entertainment for the kids and generally a great overall family pub.

We where on I way home to Derby and stopped off at the Millhouse. First impression driving in was ok but once in we where met by a very warm welcome from Lish which after a long journey was most welcome. The service from Lish was very personal for saying the rest of the pub was very busy nothing was a problem and she was very polite and professional. The food was good not Michelin star but very good for a main stream pub chain. Overall very good as we know the place you visit is great but its the people you meet and the service that you recieve that makes the telling diffreance! Recommend a visit

Ive been here a few times and i never leave dissapointed. My children love the play area the food is also Beautiful every single time and the service from the staff is incredible. Thankyou to the young lady (lish) for her service. Lovely place.
