We have eaten here before but have only ever sat outside for drinks/snacks. On this occasion we sat indoors for a full cooked meal at lunchtime. The internal decor was pleasant and the ambiance excellent. Despite being almost full there was a very quiet and refined atmosphere. The menu was varied, interesting and most mains were around £15. Everything we had was delicious and well cooked. The shepherds pie was exceptionally good - the best I’ve ever had. Our only criticism would be the rather too ’al dente’ veg. The service was exemplary and we will definitely return.

Wonderful food and great atmosphere. They expertly looked after me and all of my food allergies. The chilli is amazing.

We stumbled across this gorgeous little cafe when our intended cafe was too full to accommodate us. It’s lovely, I liked the interiors and the staff were friendly. My coffee was lovely (although a little hotter than I’m used to). I had the Cherry Bakewell cake and that was lovely, full of flavour and very sweet, gluten free too if I remember rightly. Cute little find.

Something for everyone in this wonderful bakery. Everything fresh and tasty. We popped by for some bakes to go and enjoyed them on a hike, but there are tables outside to sit and enjoy Woodhall Spa on a warm Saturday morning. We look forward to our next visit to the town, to enjoy more delights.

Great place in Woodhall Spa we found whilst staying at Tattersall Lakes. We were looking for dog friendly cafes that allowed dogs inside and came across this little gem. So four adults (& 5 dogs) had Scampi & Chips, Sausage Egg & Chips, & 2 Breakfasts(1 large, 1 small) + Drinks & this came to just under £30 !. Unbelievable value, great tasting food which is locally sourced. A proper traditional cafe. We were amazed at the low prices and think they are underselling themselves. Praise where praise is due - put your prices up ! Great service as well, will definitely return.

We arrived at this hotel for a wedding, on arrival I found it unusual to be asked for payment upfront? We were staying in the grounds, in a block of about 20 rooms (approx) The door to the lodge was entered by security fob. It soon became clear that the door closure was worn out, as the door slammed shut every time someone came and went, including drunk golfers at 2 - 3 am in the morning???? My room was the first one inside the door the door frame was connected to the wall of my room so the slamming door was annoying!!!! Three times I reported this problem to the receptionist (when I could find one) who promised to sort it, this never happened. The shower in my room was leaking into the bath for the duration of my stay (2 nights) I reported this also but again nothing happened. A family member had an executive room paying over £100 a night more than my room, when they arrived some of the wallpaper in the room had fallen onto the floor, damp was obviously an issue? Whilst on arrival the hotel seemed rather nice it soon become clear that all was not as it seemed (hence payment taken upfront). The staff were all young and lacked guidance or training the guy at breakfast was just damn right rude, if I hadn't been at a wedding I would have left and found somewhere else immediately. This hotel requires a good maintenance man, a full time receptionist as well as a manager. The other noticeable point was the reception, which was in a small office. The reception door spent more time locked than it did open. Even on the morning of leaving, the reception was locked, when I went to leave and discuss my complaint with someone, six sets of room keys were just left lying on the floor outside. When we tried to book our rooms the phone was never answered, the same with emails, now we know why, lack of staff. Nevertheless the experience of the Dower House Hotel, Woodhall Spa is over and I won't be returning.

Just finished a walk nearby and we dropped in for lunch. Friendly welcome. Great atmosphere and a lovely old bar. Food was good and very generous portions. We shared a large ploughman’s. Have been before for dinner one evening and ate in the restaurant.

Booked a table for a birthday meal on Saturday 19th October , 4 of us dinning . A warm welcome on entering the restaurant/bar . Lovely feel to the place . Asked what drinks we would like and then taken to our table . It was my daughter in laws birthday and a little added touch was a birthday ballon on the table . We were left to browse the menu. The menu wasn’t extensive but contained really good meals to choose from. We had starters of deep fried Brie wedges with onion chutney. For mains , winter casserole with herb dumplings ( wow that was good). Scampi with home made chips and lastly grilled salmon and prawns platter . All were beautiful to eat . Desserts , bakewell tart with custard, warm. Hoc brownie with ice cream and raspberry and white chocolate cheese cake with ice cream . The food was very good and quality ingredients. Friendly service , who regularly checked on us and made sure we had what we needed . A lovely , enjoyable evening .

The service has declined since we last dined here. Little touches have disappeared. The wine is now plonked on the table and initial glass no longer poured. I had the lamb wellington, and was somewhat disappointed to receive 2 small cubes of meat. It was very nice though as was the rest of our meal.

Me and my wife have twice visited this pub after attending away football fixtures Both times it has served a purpose and its quite good value for money but i think its a bit under staffed and on both occasions we had to wait 10 mins at the bar for someone to attend to us and it was not at all busy . On our last visit the waitress made our dessert as the chef had gone home and it was 8.30 on a Saturday night (To be fair it was pretty decent ) All of the staff on our visits have been very friendly and the food comes out on time . The paintings on the wall i think are done by a local artist are for sale . They were still there a year after our first visit so if the artist is reading this i think you might need to put the prices down . I think you overdone the white on Bob Marley's teeth as he looks like he has just come back from Turkey :) We would eat there again if we were in the area .
