We had a weekday lunch and were really impressed- from arriving outside to all the beautiful display of flowers to walking out with full tummies, the whole experience was perfect. There is a good selection of food, including a specials board on the day, with plenty of interesting choice on offer for non meat eaters. I had the homemade three bean chilli which was delicious and care had even been taken with the side salad we ordered, which was full of lovely ingredients and more like a meal in itself. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and there were four clean plates at the end. My highlight was the dessert ; home made traditional puds, my bakewell tart and custard was a 10/10. The two staff who served us were polite, friendly and attentive and happy to accommodate any requests we made. We enjoyed it so much we are going back in a few weeks.

Nice atmosphere and the food was good. I had the Spotty Dick for dessert which I think could have been better, it tasted like cake, apart from that everything else was good and the staff were very attentive.

We've stopped off here a couple of times and are looking forward to doing so again next week when we revisit Woodhall. The first time we had food as a family. The food was very good, and the service was excellent. We didn't book, but they were very accommodating. The staff made a fuss of our young daughter and dog, and it wasn't forced. The second time we just popped in for drinks as a couple and the place was swamped. There was a real buzz which is refreshing these days. We managed to squeeze in at the bar and the landlord (I'm assuming) was very friendly and attentive, despite being incredibly busy. Qudos to whoever trains the staff here because everyone is on the same page, and the service is consistent. The beer is excellent too! Highly recommended.

Great spot for a motorhome stopover, family run pub with great food , drinks and service. We will be going back it was so nice

We stumbled (not literally!) across this pub as we were on our way home from Hull to Norfolk via the scenic route so decided to pop in just for a quick drink as it looks lovely from the exterior. The interior is just as welcoming! Old world charm, a really friendly welcome from the bar staff and the waft of the Sunday roast was rather enticing but as it was a nice day we sat outside, lovely little huts are provided for if the weather isn’t as pleasant and roses surround the area. Really a very pleasant place.

We popped in at very short notice not long before closing time and had a fabulous meal !! It was extremely busy which is always a good sign , but we were given a very warm welcome and had 4 great meals ….. we especially loved the crunchy chips !! Great traditional menu, perfectly cooked and good value for money. We’ll be back !! COYR 🌳 🙏

First time as a family here for Christmas Day lunch. It is a special occasion and Chris, Emma and staff made it so. Beer, food and atmosphere were excellent and cannot recommend the venue highly enough for any event.

My birthday and we revisited this pub, and had a wonderful first class meal, and despite the fact they were catering for a group of sixty people, and another group of fifteen, and another one of ten, and our table of four. The waitresses were fabulous, and worked their socks off for us. The meal was superb and I absolutely loved it.

Our 4th visit, for dinner. This time, we had the cod, baked in prawns and cheese sauce. Veg cooked to perfection. No wonder it's hard to get a table if you don't book in time. We are going back again, this week. Please don't ever change the chef!!

Quaint oldie woldie, steeped in history pub. Ample carparking. Beautiful wooden purpose built booths in the garden with scatter cushions and colourfull flower pots. Front of building no wheelchair access, gravel stones present. We had a wheelchair so sat outside. Friendly bar staff, brought our drinks outside to us. Definately worth a visit. Unfortunately, they had finished serving food at 3pm.

Visited for lunch with family. Pub was quiet, though not empty. Menus had a variety of options, gluten free menu included! Questions related to my Coeliac Disease were answered and double checked by waiting staff if unknown. Dedicated fryer for gluten free food meant I could go with my usual choices when eating out. Food was tasty with good portion sizes. Adjustments were able to be made to the menu to accommodate what we wanted. Prices slightly higher than chains, but were well worth it. Highly recommend the toffee marshmallow sundae for dessert if you have a sweet tooth.

Booked a table for 6 to celebrate a 55th wedding anniversary. Plenty of parking, nice outdoor area. Greeted warmly at the bar, which was very well stocked with plenty of choice. Staff happy to play along as we surprised our celebrating couple. Tables were well spaced too. Good selection to choose from on the menu and some specials. Something for everyone. I could have eaten the sweet chilli cauliflower starter 10 times over. I think it might be my new favourite and that's coming from someone who thinks 'no meat, no meal'! We all had something different over 3 courses and all plates were cleared. Portion sizes being perfect. Well done on getting the food to the table as hot as it left the kitchen! But where you went above and beyond, was when you picked up on us discussing not being able to book a taxi that night. Then very kindly offering to run us all back home. Which enabled us all to enjoy a few cocktails and whiskeys and pints and rums and whatever else we fancied. You were all so lovely and made it a most enjoyable, memorable evening and we will be back again very soon, thank you all!!

Well, we have been before and had an excellent meal, in fact the day before we had lunch and it was fab, but our evening meal on the 11th August was disappointing, the ham on my main meal did not taste fresh at all and I had to leave it, our starters and my wife's meal was lovely, but what a disappointment for me, I wasn't charged for my meal, but surely a chef should know what is in his fridge, we will go again as I'm sure this was just a blip, would of been nice if we had had an apology.

We have been 5/6 times with our friends and can honestly say that we have always had excellent services and lovely food. The owners always make you welcome and the staff are always pleasant. The food is alway delivered in a timely fashion and at a reasonable price. I can recommend the Chicken Goujons with sweet chilly dip and chips… very cosy in the winter with a log fire and cosy atmosphere.

What a EXCELLENT pub, 100% highly recommended if you are in Lincoln. We popped in for dinner we had a reservation. As soon as we walked in we were welcomed by a lovely lady at the bar. We are a family of 5, we were shown to our table followed by our drinks. The food was very very tasty and this is proper pub food freshly made and served up. The children loved the food and the portions were a good size. Starters, mains and desserts were spot on we finished everything. The customer service was spot on from start to finish. The decor in the pub is very comfy and it has that homely feel about it. Thank you to all the staff

What a lovely pub interior - all warm and cosy. Very friendly people. Extremely well kept ale. Good car park. The food was decent enough. I eat a fair bit of pork belly and a couple of reviews ago I said that a pub in Yorkshire served a pork belly which was ‘excellent in every respect’. The pork belly here lacked any ‘wow factor’ whatsoever; no crispy crackling, a small jug of gravy that didn’t actually pour etc. Just standard fare, nothing wrong with it as such, just a bit dull. Mashed potato nice. Veg OK. The fish platter was nice enough on the whole but the breadcrumbs were on the cusp of being overdone and for some reason the fish cake was a bit squashed when it arrived. 4* not 5.

Booked this based on Trip Advisor ratings and was not disappointed. Really good pub menu with a few specials, service from all staff was really friendly. Food was great, excellent home cooked chips! It’s about a 15min walk out of woodhall spa but the owner kindly offered us a lift back into town, which was much appreciated. We’ll be back again.

We rocked up on spec at lunchtime not knowing whether we could get a meal in these Covid times. We need not have worried as the waitress/barmaid was so very kind and welcoming and sat us down. A couple of drinks later and we ordered from the specials menu and with trepidation ordered the steak and mushroom pie. Some may despair of pies offered in pubs what should be traditional hearty pub fare often presents in a pastry case containing gristly grey meat in an insipid gravy..... NOT SO HERE!!! We were presented with a substantial plate of an an absolutely superb pie, full of lean and tender meat topped by a sumptuous flaky pastry all accompanied by a trio of vegetables and thrice cooked chips.On food, friendliness and service I can only rate this restaurant as excellent, thank you for making us so welcome and feeding s so very very well ice

Visited the Abbey Lodge for a meal with my son before he went to university. On entering the details for completing track and trace information were clear and hand sanitiser available too. We were shown to our table by a really friendly member of staff and given disposable menus. The beer was great as always and I picked food from the specials menu. Walnut battered Brie was one of the best starters I think I have ever had. My husband and son were having difficulty choosing between their favourites on the regular menu and both decided on the gammon which they thoroughly enjoyed. All staff either wearing visors or face masks and willing to help with anything we needed. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Thanks for all your hard work in these challenging times.

Visited here for a Sunday roast with friends who were staying at Tattershall Lakes. The pub is a very traditional style pub with beams, decor and tankards as you would hope to find in a country pub. Now for the food... Absolutely superb!! Lovely choice of home cooked meals. We had 2 x roast beef, 1 x roast chicken and 1 pie meal. Ample choice of veg served in tureens with cauliflower cheese and 2 jugs of delicious gravy. Could not fault it at all. The staff where friendly, with nothin being too much trouble. Landlady very friendly, has owned the pub for over 30 years and you can tell as a lot of investment has gone into making this such a homely, friendly place to eat. Thank you!!

It is rare to find a traditional pub these days. They all try and pretend to be something they aren't. Well this is a proper pub. It is cosy and comfortable with the fire roaring today. The service was great and friendly. The menu was varied including a good childrens menu. All the food was home cooked - great quality and good size portions. A nice range of ales as well.We also felt very safe - all the necessary precautions in place for Covid.We really need to make sure we support these traditional pubs during these difficult times. Well worth a visit.

Booked for a family visit. Nice traditional style old country pub. The food was decent quality and nicely cooked, just could have done with sauce on some of meals ie: child's fish fingers, mash & peas was quite dry and option to add a sauce in steak would have been good too. Homemade cheesecake was delicious and service was good.

Having read some great reviews I emailed a week before our planned visit to the area to enquire about a large family group booking and Emma responded very quickly, answering all my questions. We have 2 young children and wanted to eat fairly early so we booked in for 6 pm. As we were a large group I happily paid a deposit for the booking, a necessity in these times as so many businesses have ‘no shows’ which have a huge impact on them. We arrived on time yesterday evening and were greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table. Drinks order was taken and brought to us promptly. The menu choice is amazing, plenty to suit all tastes. Adults all had starters and the children’s meals were brought out with our starters. Food also arrived promptly and was delicious. We were all full after having starters and mains so only one dessert for the kids (a huge marshmallow sundae). The evening was relaxed, we weren’t rushed at all and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend the Abbey Lodge and if we visit the area again we’ll definitely be back there to eat.

Our party of 8 had dinner at the Abbey Lodge whilst on a weekend break. The food was excellent (the garlic bread is a must!!) , service perfect with all staff lovely, friendly and helpful. We didn't check and arrived before opening time, so the owners very kindly let us in early. They also gave 2 of our party a lift back to our lodge afterwards as we couldn't get a taxi and I had a bad leg. This really was above and beyond...nothing was too much trouble and I thoroughly recommend visiting The Abbey Lodge.

Went for a meal with my family last night on the spur of the moment and so glad we found Abbey Lodge. We were greeted at the door and shown to our outside table which was lovely and private. The menu had a great selection of dishes and the food we were served was top notch and tasted fantastic. Great drinks selection also. Staff very friendly and attentive and doing a great job in tough times. Will be back to try some more dishes.

We visited three times over the last week, Between the 6 of us trying a lots of different meals, all the meals were great. Staff extremely friendly, helpful & efficient. Good atmosphere & very accommodating, would highly recommend & we will definitely return.

It's great to be back at the Abbey to see Chris & Emma after months of being closed. I was really pleased to see the excellent Landlord & Abbot on draught & really enjoyed several, really good beers! Then we ordered & food arrived quickly. My favourite, mixed grill, is always on the meal & was top quality, as was my wife's fish & chips-really fresh tasting fish. Looking forward to returning. Can highly recommend.

My wife and I have just been to The Abbey Lodge for a meal, our first since the dreaded C virus. As ever Emma and Chris made us more than welcome and even with the new "rules" it was still a special experience. We felt safe which is probably a key point in the current circumstances. The staff were attentive and we were socially distanced but in an inclusive way.Our meal was up to the usual standard. Beautifully cooked and great value for money. I drank Abbott and the beer is (and always has been) the best kept in the area. If you would like a special night out in an English pub you could not do better.

Welcome back Abbey Lodge! And what a privilege it was to be there on your opening night. There was definitely a buzz albeit a positive one. Subtle changes to adhere to current guidelines were noted but did not detract from the usual congenial atmosphere found at the Abbey. Our waiter was attentive, polite and friendly. Our starters of white bait and salt and pepper squid were delicious. The chef cooked our steaks to perfection, my husband ordered the sirloin with all the trimmings, I changed my order to have a jacket potato and salad with my steak, the salad was fresh, crisp and topped with wonderful homemade coleslaw.perfect sized fluffy jacket potato and my steak tender and cooked to perfection. Well done Team Abbey Lodge, great to see you back doing what you do best, one day I will leave room for a dessert!
