We arrived at this hotel for a wedding, on arrival I found it unusual to be asked for payment upfront? We were staying in the grounds, in a block of about 20 rooms (approx) The door to the lodge was entered by security fob. It soon became clear that the door closure was worn out, as the door slammed shut every time someone came and went, including drunk golfers at 2 - 3 am in the morning???? My room was the first one inside the door the door frame was connected to the wall of my room so the slamming door was annoying!!!! Three times I reported this problem to the receptionist (when I could find one) who promised to sort it, this never happened. The shower in my room was leaking into the bath for the duration of my stay (2 nights) I reported this also but again nothing happened. A family member had an executive room paying over £100 a night more than my room, when they arrived some of the wallpaper in the room had fallen onto the floor, damp was obviously an issue? Whilst on arrival the hotel seemed rather nice it soon become clear that all was not as it seemed (hence payment taken upfront). The staff were all young and lacked guidance or training the guy at breakfast was just damn right rude, if I hadn't been at a wedding I would have left and found somewhere else immediately. This hotel requires a good maintenance man, a full time receptionist as well as a manager. The other noticeable point was the reception, which was in a small office. The reception door spent more time locked than it did open. Even on the morning of leaving, the reception was locked, when I went to leave and discuss my complaint with someone, six sets of room keys were just left lying on the floor outside. When we tried to book our rooms the phone was never answered, the same with emails, now we know why, lack of staff. Nevertheless the experience of the Dower House Hotel, Woodhall Spa is over and I won't be returning.

Tried this place for the first time, ordered two dishes plus egg fried rice prawn crackers. When we got it home it was lukewarm nearly cold we only live a mile away. The food itself had mixed reviews the special chow mein was anything but special next to no meat no vegetables just a few shrimp that was dry and chewy noodles overcooked very little sauce nearly dry. The special kung po was passable. The egg fried rice was dreadful the prawn crackers tasteless. My advice go elsewhere because this place is terrible can't quite see how it's rated above a 3

Staff are absolutely lovely and really accommodating. Food amazing :-) I'm quite an anxious human and they put me at ease quite quickly. Breakfast a lot of choices. Would recommend it. Beds comfy, shower amazing. Only thing, would recommend bringing an extension lead incase wanting to set up a laptop to TV and such for netflix. Overall a lovely way to spend a business trip away. Thanks guys 😄

WOW !!! A fabulous spot for dinner. We visited tonight as a group of 6, returning again after previous visit in 2023. Our 2 dogs labrador (Elsie), and sprocker spaniel (Bramble) were hugely accommodated for during our evening. A large table situated in the beautiful extension was ours for the night and the room was decorated to perfection. The table was prepared with dog treats in a jar, large filled water bowl and wide range of comfy dog beds, suitable for a variation of dog breeds. This was a special touch ensuring our furry loved ones were catered for during our evening. Staff very attentive and welcoming. But the star of the show is certainly the food !!! Amazing food eaten tonight consisting of ribs, pie alongside beautiful starters and desserts. This is a place that shouldn't be missed out on !! Amazing standard we will definitely be returning. Thanks again the Haynes/Fletcher family and very loved furry companions. Images attached of some of the beautiful decor !! And lastly to mention this place won the Four in a bed competition also !!! Need i say more …

So - never expected to be in tears after lunch. There was a couple in their 90s across from us - the care of the young waitress was superb! Then a young couple came in and sat at the table next to them. I have to say that the male who later said he had a parent in their 90s was incredible. The caring compassion of both these people brought me to tears! Restored my faith in humanity. Food wise the fish and chips was declared as best ever - my prawn salad - was fine - would have preferred home made salad not bagged and fresh boiled new potatoes and local crusty bread. This is what it used to be and sometimes dressed crab.

Ordered a shandy. They didn't have any lemonade! No pies, no lasagne. So opted for two fish finger butties. Sorry but we have to be honest, they hardly filled the bread. Fish was gray and rubbery. Not worth half the price. We went into this pub because it's dog freindy which is great, but won't be eating here again.
