With a menu like that it will either be something rather special or a pretentious novice. It was the latter - the food was poor quality, interesting flavours that just didn't work. The cauliflower that came with the duck was grey mush. The steak was OK but the sauce and uncooked haloumi spoilt it. The chicken in the pie was grisley. The veg was either frozen or over cooked and smothered in a butter-like substance to mask the lack of freshness. The eating area was empty when we arrived yet it took over an hour to bring us any food. The staff getting drinks orders was equally slow and inattentive.

Very good meal - the new menu is excellent. Also there are quite a few gluten free options. Both our waitresses were very efficient and attentive, especially Jessica, who made us feel very welcome! We certainly be returning to this pleasant, friendly canal-side hostelry.

Fantastic 60th Birthday lunch We arranged a surprise lunch for my wife’s 60th at the Swan. From the word go they were so helpful , where other local pubs would not accommodate us, wanted an expensive set menu or wouldn’t cater for children, the Swan couldn’t have been more accommodating. The food was fantastic as was the service and drinks. Thank you so much for making my wife’s birthday so special.

I visited with family for Saturday lunch. One of our party is diabetic and the staff adjusted dishes to ensure she had a lovely time with no prior warning. Great service and food as always

This was a two night stay gift from a family member. Peaceful location. The owner was a very friendly and helpful person. The rooms had all you need. We had dinner included on the first night which was lovely. We had a cooked breakfast both mornings which were great. Decent amount of gluten free options on the menu. Friendly feedback: some sort of note in the rooms with the wifi password would be helpful to guests. The hairdryer could do with an update as it was not very effective. The shower door/glass panel could do with sealing due to leakage of the water from the shower.

I stayed one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. All staff were friendly and very helpful. The owner was there to greet me on arrival and also very friendly. The place was very clean. Room was spacious, clean, warm with a comfortable bed - I slept very well. Once I settled in I made my way to the bar for drinks and had dinner, which I enjoyed. Breakfast was also enjoyable. The whole place had a relaxed and friendly vibe, and I would definitely stay again.

We had the most amazing festive afternoon tea here today. It definitely deserves a special mention as the homemade sandwiches, cakes and biscuits were fabulous and the attentive staff were outstanding. We will definitely recommend to our friends and family as a great find! ☆☆☆☆☆

Came here with my sister today for a quick lunch (we shared the fish and Chips). And we had an amazing time. The staff were all lovely and very welcoming, Food came out fast, and is very affordable especially for its taste. and I had a little look in the farm shop. Bought myself a handmade jug and 2 pomegranates which were lovely. Only moved to the village a couple weeks ago so it’s great to know there’s a welcoming and good pub. Will definitely be coming back!

We decided to drop in for a meal at lunchtime yesterday. I was slightly apprehensive after a previous visit late last year didn't go too well. But as I am of a forgiving and tolerant nature I decided to give it another try. On entering the bar it had all the welcoming qualities of the Marie Celeste. There were only 2 tables occupied by diners in a very large restaurant area and what appeared to be a creche run for the benefit of the staff. We were approached by member of staff who had obviously no training in customer service. No smile, no welcome. She then proceeded to get our drinks order wrong, with no apology. When asked if we could see a menu, she pointed to the end of the bar. After taking a seat we were somewhat apprehensive about staying and ordering food, foolishly we ploughed on. I ordered at the bar and we waited and waited. We kept looking at our watches and I decided to interrupt the meeting in the creche to ask if there was any chance of our food arriving in the near future. I was informed after a few minutes that our meals would be ready in 5 minutes, the problem being the fish hadn't defrosted. We waited at least another 15 minutes and still no food. We paid for our drinks and left. I have never experienced such appalling customer service in a pub or restaurant. If there is a better example of how not to treat paying customers I have yet to find it.

It has been many months since i visited this pub with my wife and relatives and it has taken sometime to get over what could be the worst dining experience in my life. We chose the al la carte menu, minimum of four people, to get to the point the food was horrible, absolutely disgusting and a pathetic amateur attempt at providing a prestige service. I did take this up with the manager, after a very heated discussion when he failed to accept the blame, he went on the defensive and eventually tried to manipulate the situation to his advantage by accusing me of making threats against him. The Olde Coach House has never been a great pub and even after a refurb it still looks and feels dank, I felt sorry for my mother in law and her sister who paid the £180 bill, they were robbed, we all were.

My god I stood in that queue for 20 mins while the person behind the counter made TWO coffees. There was a queue of people in front of me so I decided to leave as I only wanted to buy a couple of bottles of water after a run and it’d have taken me longer to get the drinks that it did to run the 10k around the reservoir. 😂
