Staff was very friendly and helpful even when very busy and Sunday roast was delicious would definitely go back. Amazing prices.

roast dinner is advertised 12pm to 6pm and had sold out by 2pm. when sat down i was told by staff to be here by midday if we want one in the future so maybe they need to update the advertising. most of the rest of the food was sold out. we ordered what was left, the food was over cooked with cheap ingredients, clearly a terrible chef who cant cook and didnt preorder enough ingredients. shame really, this place used to be alright. i wouldn't feed the food to my dog now though. RIP fox and hounds.

We visited the fox snd hounds having booked in for a Sunday Roast!! Unfortunately we were told on arrival that they had no more roasts available! We then ordered from the regular menu. I ordered Ham and Eggs - I couldn’t believe what arrived - two snotty eggs, the cheapest ham I’ve ever seen (talking the worst value range imaginable) and re-fried chips!! Shocking all round! We will not be returning!! Very disappointed

Friendly welcome, accommodating when we had arrived earlier than booked. Food was average pub grub, burger overdone but in the party others enjoyed their lasagne and curry. The issue was we were advised no coleslaw for the burger meal but when the lasagne arrived there was no salad which hadn’t been advised. To the barman serving we said this wasn’t acceptable firstly no coleslaw then no salad he said he would speak to the manager .. happy to charge the £1.00 per item we did add.. no reduction or substitution for unavailable food! Paid and left.. only because we had a fantastic day on a narrow boat we were not going to let this ruin our day.

The staff were friendly helpful and efficient from the moment we arrived. We ordered drinks at the bar and they brought them to us once we had found a table outside in the attractive garden. Unlike another pub I visited recently we were provided with table service despite being outside with everything being put on a tab. We were bought blackboards with the menu on, ordered and the food arrived in reasonable time . Mains and deserts were all well prepared and very tasty. We were also able to order more drinks from the table. Excellent service from the bar & restaurant staff.

Jordan and Mille were amazing. We came for a birthday and we were so well looked after. We forgot candles for the cake so Jordan held a lighter for us to blow out!! They even changed the music to a happy birthday song as we were the last people in the bar area, the food was excellent as well!!

Sunday carvery was one of the best we had. The meat was thickly sliced and portion very generous. No way could we eat up the meal and had plenty to take away. The staff who served us was very pleasant and cheery. Gammon was the best. Not salty and full of flavour. Highly recommended!

Myself and my partner always come here for food as the food is always incredible. We have never had a bad meal here. The steak is definitely the best in Northampton. Service is always incredible, staff are all friendly, welcoming and bubbly. Had an amazing Sunday Roast with all the trimmings in the warm, cozy restaurant area. Meat cooked to perfection, all vegetables freshly prepared and cooked but the Yorkshire puddings stole the show! Excellent service and very good value for money.

I dropped in with my family initially for a drink but when we looked at the menu we decided to get a couple of the sharing platters. They were presented really well & there was lots of food, it all was really tasty so we took what was left home. We were really impressed & will definitely eat there again. Thank you x

We booked a family meal for 10 people and provided our preorder to ensure we secured our preferred choice of roast dinner. Waiting staff were superb, attentive and really helpful, especially when asking for any specials, which the kitchen were trying. Meals were served promptly, with plenty of time between courses. Plates were hot and the food was really well presented on the plate aswell as tasting good. The roasts were big and everyone finished up the meals. Desserts were ordered, the biscof cheesecake and Eton mess were superb. Can't wait to comeback again, the service and atmosphere were top drawer and compliments to the chefs.

A Sunday in early February may not always be the best experience at the moment, but this was fine. We went early, as is our habit on Sundays, but glad we booked, because lots of tables were reserved for a little later. Service was a little patchy to begin with, but improved once an additional member of staff arrived. Enjoyed our Roast beef!

This was meant to be a Christmas Meal, and we had nothing on our table for Christmas ie crackers . When my dinner came out the roast potatoes were black, I asked for more and got two more slightly less black. Staff were obviously wanting to close and it was only 9.15. Another couple came in but were turned away and they were quite cross. Not anyone in there except a couple with a child who didn’t stay long. First and last time I go in there for a meal.

6 years in and the service is now just shocking.... In fact the new manager is clueless..... Staff couldn't careless... 20 mins to get table service after Complaining... Quiz night my arse...

Rewind 19 years, this was by far the best pub in the area. A landlord who’d grown up in the area and new everyone by name, an excellent chef and staff who cared. How things have changed!!!! My latest visit to The Fox is likely to be my last. Firstly, what used to be a lively bar had just a handful of people in. Secondly one table was occupied by the staff and a manger for which getting up and serving seemed like an effort. Also with them was a young child who was allowed to run riot! Food was ordered, which along with being a very small portion for the price did not match the menu description: the menu said “ham & eggs” yet only one egg was served! When questioned another egg was supplied but delivered with comment “the extra egg” I attempted to give the owners opportunity to respond privately before posting this response however the feedback link on the menu did not work!!!!

Beautiful meal at The Fox & Hounds. Haven’t been for a while I went with some friends. Started off with a fab cocktail. For a starter we shared the ‘nibbles’ from the menu - chorizo, Halloumi and deep fried Brie - DELICIOUS!! For main, we all had fish and chips (well it was Friday 😂) and we weren’t disappointed. Will be back soon!!

We called in here on a Friday lunchtime for a drink and a quick lunch and were not disappointed. We ordered a sandwich lunch, a pie and chips and drinks; there was a problem with one of the meals that was quickly sorted out by the bar person, Matt C, and we were very satisfied with the food. We will be back.

Fantastic visit to the fox and hounds! Matt and Jasmine waited on us hand and foot. Will definitely recommend.

Love this place! Popped in for a quick drink with a friend. The outdoor area is well thought out and has some powerful heaters to keep out the chills! A good mix of friendly staff and locals to give the place a really enjoyable atmosphere....

Really disappointed in the experience here. Regularly go to other McManus pubs and always tasty and friendly. Waitress was not friendly, very slow, some menu items not available and although only three tables eating waited and hour and a half for food. Food was ok...

We had high hopes for this venue, but unfortunately our Christmas Day dinner was a disappointment. It felt rushed, and expensive for what we got. Staff were under dressed for such an occasion and lacked a personal touch. Needless to say we will not be returning next year.

We had a wonderful visit to the fox and hounds Kingsthorpe this evening. We were served by Tanya and she was absolutely fantastic! couldn’t have been more accommodating. Very cosy and well decorated pub/restaurant, exceeded expectations In every way. Well priced and plenty of choice for food and drink. We will definitely be visiting again soon. Love coming to this place with my Gran and her friend. It’s their favourite place in Northampton and we have attended many times amongst other places but this always stands out.

I mean it’s not what it used to be but oh my it’s got some beautiful food. I remember coming with my dad when I was a boy when it was a proper footy pub now it’s a foodie pub. Lovely food. Expensive but you don’t mind paying the price for food quality food. Definitely recommend.

Popped in to the F&H; for lunch with a friend. I had the club sandwich and it was very good. The food came quickly, staff were really nice. Despite living in Kingsthorpe for 3 years, it was my first visit and I will be returning.

We were last at the Fox & Hounds 2 years ago for my mother in laws 80th with friends & family and had a great time. However we never think of popping in when visiting Northampton. So when friends suggested having a meal here we weren't disappointed. Good menu selection which included calamari, cottage pie croquettes and whitebate for starters and good selection of mains which included sea bass. Good choice of beers & gins. The staff were friendly. Overall there was a great atmosphere in the pub. We'll definitely eat here again when visiting Northampton. Thanks to the great team.

A bank holiday meal out for 6. Table booked, easily accessible, clean, tidy and friendly. Nice atmosphere. Efficient knowledgeable staff and with a nice sense of humour. They think I'm weird because I can taste metal. I told them this and I laughed. They laughed. We all laughed... Should have just said I dropped my fork when I asked for a replacement. D'oh! However, the food was in the most part fresh. An all day mixed grill (easy perhaps but looked and smelled great!), a beef roast, nice and moist with a huge Yorkshire pudding, a lamb roast equally good but the roast potatoes were old and very dry! A chicken and bacon pie was really tasty, an all day big breakfast - exactly what it said on the tin albeit inexplicably minus the described has browns and a pork belly which had the most amazing crackling. Altogether it came to £89 which was good. Parking aplenty and easy to get to. Recommended!

Went along last Sunday, my wife and I with our son and daughter in law for Sunday lunch.

We are not local to the area but wanted somewhere for Sunday lunch close to where we were. Found the Fox & Hounds on Google Maps & what a find it turned out to be! We both had the Trio Roast so had some lamb, beef & pork belly. The portion was huge, it was deliciously tender ( I'm not a lover of overcooked meat) & piping hot. The meat was plentiful The roasties were crisp & the veg hot but not overcooked. The gravy was delicious & the Yorkshire pudding was one of the largest I've ever had. The service was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. Well worth a visit & we will be visiting again when next in the area.

Came in for a friends get together, we didn’t have a table booked but as we walked in the lady behind the bar helped us find a table. Even though they don’t do table service, as they were quite, Ellen popped up to see us and said she would do table service for us. We were deciding between wine and were interested by the house Sauvignon Blanc. Which Ellen then explained that there is a deal with the house wine. We then decided the meals, each of us went very different. One of my friends had a Caesar salad, the other had a burger and I had the pork belly. The meals that we had were amazing and we will definitely be back.

Met some friends for lunch at the fox and hounds Kingsthorpe.I hadnt been there for quite a while and was pleasantly surprised by how nice it looked inside. We were greeted by the chatming host Tanya who made us feel very welcome. My wife and i ordered the fish and chips ,which were brought out without delay and which were delicous,and were washed down with a nice bottle of prosecco. I would reccommend this place to anybody.

Went to The Fox & Hounds yesterday, for my birthday. This restaurant is situated a short distance from Harlestone Firs and is a great stop of for dog walkers and their four legged fury friends.

This was the first time our group of friends have eaten here. There was a great selection of dishes to suit all tastes and very good value for money.

Over the weekend of the 22/23rd September, we were in Northampton, moving our grandson into University accommodation. (his halls being in Kingsthorpe) So as there was 5 of us, I telephoned that afternoon, and was able to book a table for that evening.

Popped in on a Friday night to sample the World Cup ⚽️ with my better half and was taken aback by the great vibe around the pub! Ordered a Platter to share which came on a bread board and it was all truly delicious! Washed down with a couple of chilled beers in the beer garden post match, it definitely got the thumbs up and will be back again!

Popped in for a drink but looked at menu and decided to eat. The food was fabulous . We had Camembert to start and the best chicken Caesar I’ve tasted and I’m fussy but you couldn’t fault anything .

Very good service, went with children and grandchildren on a Sunday. Food was very good. All meals came out virtually together, everyone enjoyed their meals. Grandchildren had the sausage and mash very generous portion. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is good, very lucky to have this as our local pub.

Booked a table this afternoon for my mums birthday meal. Service was fantastic! Staff were friendly and the food was amazing. Range of specials on the board was good, 2 out of the 4 meals we had were from there. They were also more than happy to amend a meal for my dad who didnt want the all day breakfast burger but just the breakfast. Cant fault the place.

Visited the pub late after being out for the day and we just got our order in before they closed the kitchen at 9am on the bank holiday (we are certainly glad they took our order).

Really surprised how lovely the food was after popping in for lunch, there seemed to be a shortage of milk jugs and cups even though it was quiet but didn't spoil my enjoyment as they soon sorted it.

My mum and I met friends for lunch. Lovely atmosphere, very clean and comfortable. The food is amazing (the best squid I have had for a long time). The staff are very welcoming but I must mention Jack who was very attentive and made time to chat and make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The only small quibble was that the music was a little loud for my mum who is a little deaf and found it difficult to hear conversation but we rectified this by moving tables. We will be returning and would highly recommend a visit to this wonderful establishment.

I am a regular to the fox and hounds as I live in the block of flats directly behind the pub and in the year I have lived there I have visited three to four times every week and experienced no issues, especially with the lovely lady who used to be the general manager. However after my experience last night I have vowed never to return to the establishment after the ignorant and rude behaviour of the new general manager (don't remember his name, has dark hair, grumpy demeanour, avoid at all costs). I had been there taking part in the pub quiz with my friends, had maybe 3/4 pints so wasn't particularly rowdy or noisy. However I found that after popping outside for a cigarette this obnoxious general manager had took it upon himself to clear our quiz sheets from the table, evicted us from the quiz and decided they weren't going to serve anymore alcohol to us. He had even closed the door on us while we had a cigarette to make his intentions perfectly clear. My friend went in and asked the bar manager (who is a really nice bloke unlike his boss) what was going on and why as regular customers we were being treated so appallingly and he was told it was because I had swore and there were children around. Now bearing in mind it's 10pm so it's a bit of a joke that a) these children are still awake and b) that they're in an adult drinking establishment. People drink and sometimes they swear. It's a pub. At no point did any one of them politely ask us if we could mind our language or to quieten down, because if they had we certainly would have done so, realising we were probably being louder than we realised and that it could offend people. But no this rude person decided that this was the best way to deal with things. I spend a lot of money in the pub on a weekly basis as does my flat mate and the other friends I bring in but from now on I will be taking my business to the Sunnyside up the road and will ensure everyone I know avoids this place like the plague. I have a family birthday coming up and had suggested the fox and hounds for a family meal as I can't fault the food there. However I will make sure to suggest a different venue now after seeing how this manager treats his customers.

Hubby and I had a 3 course meal last night and it was on par with the best meals we have ever eaten. The menu was exciting and creative and add to that an attractive interior and great sound track and we left convinced we would be returning very soon. This may even become our new local and we can't wait to introduce the fox and hounds to our friends and family.

Food was lovely, I had the fish and chips. The batter was lovely and crispy everything tasted very fresh. Excellent friendly service and a lovely pub.

Been twice since the refurbishment. First time for a meal - 6 of us and 3 of the main dishes chosen were unavailable. Food was nice though.Second time for just a drink on a Friday and sat outside in the sun. Unfortunately, there was a small group there who were very loud, obviously drunk and constantly swearing. We intended to be there for the evening but had one drink and left. Kingsthorpe still longs for a good, well-run pub.

Just the spot across the road from the cemetery for a funeral wake/tea. Fabulous food - everyone commented on how good it was and reasonably priced for what we got. Tea/coffee and soft drinks included. Lovely pub and helpful staff.

Our last visit was a little disappointing. The menu has changed - many of our favourites are no longer available and the 'Specials Board' had 3 dishes - 2 vegetarian and the only meat dish was a sandwich - for a Saturday night?? and yes I know it was 'Veggie week' but there are already many on the menu. They have also recently stopped the waitress service on the 'top level' - a shame.

Can't thank or praise Louisa and her team enough for what she did for us yesterday . We told her briefly what we wanted and left it to her to decide the final menu . We had hot and cold, the cheese/pate boards , home made chutneys pickles, selection of cakes /scone and Jam , jars of sweets, the whole display was really done lovely , not just your average buffet . Everyone said how much they enjoyed it and you took all this stress off our shoulders . You are a credit to your company . Once again thankyou .

After an hour of waiting for our food, we inquire why we are waiting. They have lost the ticket for our table. 30mins later only 4 of the 6 meals came out. Waited for another 30 minutes for the next 2 meals to come. They tried to offer a round of drinks, which having waited that long, was not acceptable.

Pub grub at fine dining prices with small portions. The new ethos is to encourage clientele of a a bistro / wine bar mentality rather than that of what was its core local customer base. However it appears that they are still welcome to spend money from lunchtime to 7 p.m. but then will be refused service on the basis of them wearing working clothes. As a result very few of the good, amiable, free spending local people now patronise the pub. Since it has changed its approach I have visited about four times when it was either empty or populated with vacuous wanabees. Mr Mcmanus must be regretting his decision. He has tried this twice before and failed. The Fox is a Kingsthorpe pub and will remain so.

We have used this local pub many times - the food and service is normally excellent, unfortunately they have changed the service. Whereas in the past, if you found a table in the upper area it was all waiter/waitress service, tonight it wasn't - but there was nothing to let customers know. Despite 2 staff serving the area we were not acknowledged at all and it was only when we approached the staff after some 10 minutes were we told we should go to the bar to order, although the waitress did agree to take our order and she did advise later customers it was bar service only. The food as always was very good (although the sea bass special was not quite as described on the board) and the choice is very varied. The tables in the upper area have no numbers - staff may need to be mind readers to know who's ordered what. This may be a temporary development - I hope so!!

Wonderful mothers day, three generations very happy, especially with free cocktail once seated. Genuine staff, value for money meal & quality food all in an outstanding atmosphere suitable for all. Looking forward to visiting again soon! Thank you to you all x

Been here twice now. We live in Kingsthorpe and have been waiting for a good pub in the town. I love it here. Great range of G&T's which is a favourite tipple. The food was mixed when we ate, my husband had an amazing meal of pork belly but my wrap & chips wasn't very nice at all. Will definitely try again for food given how good husband's was.

Our visit to the Fox and Hounds was excellent. Nice Decor,friendly staff, made for a very pleasant atmosphere on a Thursday night.Good selection of beers ,wines and spirits on offer and the menu was both interesting and varied including classics and innovative offerings.This Gastro pub is pitched cleverly mid range to appeal to a wide range of customers and seems to achieve it considering how popular it is becoming.The menu is keenly priced.We chose just to have a main course although the starter and desert menus were difficult to resist,but resist we did. My classic steak with blue cheese sauce was cooked to perfection and very tasty,my wife had the gammon and eggs which again was exactly as she liked it,my son had one of the burgers and his partner had the lamb stroganhof from the specials board.There were no faults with any of the meals and they were presented excellantly,on time and hot.Well done to the staff.One note on the menu,i dont like burgers in Brioche Buns,please could you give an option to have an ordinary burger bun!!.

I've tried something different on the menu on every visit and love the quality of the food and price.Great management and staff aswell as a friendly atmosphere.Would highly recommend for any occasion with friends or family but don't leave without eating because it's well worth it x

The Fox and Hounds used to be a vertical drinking establishment but has been recently refurbished well and has retained much of the original features, which makes a change. It is quite clear that the new owners McManus are aiming for middle market and families. Was very please with the level of service, both of the staff on the bar were young but extremely friendly, helpful and efficient, full marks to them. The food is reasonably priced and of a good quality. This is a pub that is worth another visit and something that has been missing from the Kingsthorpe area. The whole pub had a nice and relaxed feel to it. In addition they have created a nice outdoor dining area which look like it could well be a pleasant place to eat in the summer though not in February. Once again well worth the visit.

Excellent service, just a bit slow, smiles and helpful attitude made up for the wait.My starter was superb, on the large side, the main that I went for was disappointing, but the staff compensated quickly with no quibble. My partners meal was perfect. I rated food 3 stars because of my Duck confit, the skin was soft on the duck, the gravy was too salty and the peas and lentils were under cooked, I did have a stomach upset due to the under cooked lentils, but nothing too serious.

I have reviewed this pub previously and trip advisor wouldn't post it. I will try again.I take my elderly parkinsons sufferer mother out for dinner when I can. We have enjoyed many a dinner at the Fox previously.On this occasion we were sat at the bar level along with my teenage daughter. There were a few locals in but no sport was on.However the locals were quite explicit in their conversation and loud. talking about ladies undergarments. and use of expletives. It has certainly put me off as I don't want to sit with my mum of 79 yrs and my teenage daughter listening to filth.I am a man of the world but staff would have heard this too as they were stood at the bar and were very loud.Sorry Fox you've lost my vote.

This pub is exactly what Northampton (and the Kingsthorpe area) needs. Recently refurbished it has been done to a high standard and creates a relaxed and modern environment with well looked after beer. I think this is a fantastic pub where you do not pay excessively for the refurbishment. Well worth a visit and revisit and revisit and revisit.

6 of us decided to dine at the recently updated fox and hounds this Sunday 29th Jan. 5 roast beef and 1 Steak, portions were aplenty and taste was brilliant, everything was cooked perfectly and the presentation very good, 3 deserts to follow which were the apple crumble, chocolate brownie and English cheese board. Again presentation was lovely and clean plates all round. Cheese at room temperature which a lot of places can get wrong but not the fox and hounds and to top it off the new look of the pub really is brilliant and has a great cosy feel to it especially on a grey Sunday with the log burner going.Brilliant fox and hounds will be dining here again quite regularly I feel if the comments of all the diners are to go by.Thank you

Visited with a friend for lunch. Food lovely, good selection on menu and great value. Staff very attentive.

Visited with family including some over from France. We were all very impressed by the courteous service from the waiting staff and the great menu. We all had something different and I can recommend the Italian scotch egg for starters and pork belly main! The ladies also enjoyed Irish coffee made with real cream, not squirty cream. Well worth a visit.

Earlier this week I asked a friend out for dinner and gave him the choice of 3 places that had recently had a refurbishment and as he lives local to The Fox & Hounds he chose there. As I arrived and parked in the car park I was instantly impressed with the lighting that had been created in the outdoor seating area.As we walked into the newly refurbished establishment we were warmly welcomed by the barmaid and had a glass of Shiraz whilst sitting on the lovely cosy sofas by the roaring fire. After catching up with my colleague we went to the bar to order the food before sitting down in the alcove window at the front of the pub. I was undecided between the gammon or the hunters chicken but the barmaid highly recommended the hunters chicken and I am so pleased she did as it was the best hunters chicken I have ever tasted by far. It am sure it won't be long before I return to this lovely welcoming pub. I hope the barmaid that looked after us receives employee of the month as she certainly deserves it.
