The best restaurants serving British food in England

This place was recommended so one evening popped in for some treats for them. Selection was large and varied. Sadly we found it very expensive,and judging by other customers orders in front of us,didnt seem good value for money,however we decided to give it a go One of the assistants seemed really moody and hardly cracked a smile,and made us feel like she would rather be elsewhere. One thing that did put me off was the smell of old chip fat,which was apparently the mini doughnuts cooking,but why did it smell really 'chippy-ish'? The milkshakes were pleasant but overpriced,but the biggest disappointment was the so called whippy ice cream.. For £5 id expect a decent amount but all we really got was a dollop,hardly any 'twirls' and a tiny amount of biscoff crumbs. We spent over £25 altogether which was too much for what we got,sorry Maybe put your staff thru customer service courses and teach them to smile and make customers feel like valued,not uncomfortable ?

Visited Sat 27 March, excellent Rock &,chips, bought some cockles and was gifted some salmon croute, lovely people, fish fresh and selection & products to die for. Will visit again! Thanks, made my day, my best, Mark

We had a great experience with the”breakfast crew”! They were all amazing and very professional and attentive! We would certainly recommend !

This a a lovely little cafe in a beautiful setting with very friendly and helpful staff. I’ve given it 5 stars as I could see the quality of the meals coming out but I have to be honest and say that my friend and I had sandwiches, one white and one granary. Both of us, sadly, found the bread very dry with pretty much inedible crusts. The contents were really good but were a bit spoilt by the chef using margarine rather than butter. I do wish this didn’t happen as the sandwiches here and in many other places are quite pricey so you would think we could get butter? Anyway, we would go back but not for the sandwiches

The service, the atmosphere and the quality of food are second to none. The chef and staff show a care and a passion for food and people and this shines through. Even added a special touch at the end of our meal for our anniversary. Simply perfect and the table was so lovely too. Thank you.

Qué encantador pub tradicional con una gran bienvenida amable. La cerveza Buttcomes bien vale la pena probar, yo tenía la pinta 5 G, muy bueno. Todos teníamos comida que era muy buena comida tradicional. Totalmente recomiendo mirar el pub.

We had a lovely afternoon tea in the garden at Hillside on Tuesday 27th August. Our hostess was friendly and welcoming and provided a selection of sandwiches, fruit scones and cream, and a selection of cakes. It was hard to choose what to have first, coffe and walnut cake, Victoria sandwich, red velvet or chocolate fudge cake. We chose to stick with the usual tea but could have had other teas or coffee. This pub has a genuine community feel - is extremely friendly and the Sunday lunch is to die for. It is huge, piping hot and delicious. Great value for money as well. I can't fault it in any way. The Landlady and Landlord, together with their staff are just the loveliest people.

This is a great bakers. High quality cakes and pastries with delicious bread. Worth a visit. Staff lovely too. Currently to seating as some refurbishment going on.

We enjoyed an AMAZING Afternoon Tea. The home baked Patisserie was wonderful. The scones were feather light, the sandwiches fresh & flavoursome. It really was the best AT we have ever tasted. The hut was so prettily decorated and the views stunning, even on a cloudy day. Anne, the owner, is a pleasure to meet and a wonderful hostess.

Had lunch today and it was fantastic. The portion sizes are huge and the food is extremely tasty. We ordered a chicken parmo baguette and a cowboy burger. The photographs speak for themselves. Staff are super friendly and this really is a hidden gem.

Tasty, good priced dining experience. Many options for both food and drink. FYI we found best value parking at Victoria Avenue, SS2 6AL!

Poor quality sandwich, more bread than filling, and the price did not reflect what was served. Friendly staff but would not recommend a visit.
