Excellent coffee take out which was piping hot - rare these days. Good VFM. Also had the raspberry & frangipane tart on another visit - this was divine. All the baked goods look delicious. Can’t wait for my next fix soon.

We were killing time before a lunch booking across the road - Whitley Bay is really such a good place for food to purchase and food to sit down and enjoy - and so only ordered coffee. This didn't prevent me, however, from positively drooling over the selection of cakes and pastries that we could have chosen to accompany our, very tasty, coffee; combinations of flavours and styles that were so unusual and a far cry from the standard, muffin / brownie / cookie type of choice. Our hosts bought bread, which we had the following day - nutty and delicious; I can see why this is such a popular spot and would love to revisit for a full blow out on the cake front. There is a small amount of seating for those who want to take their time over coffee and accompaniments, but coffee is served in eco-friendly disposable travel friendly containers, so takeout is a good option too. Well worth a visit, buy a huge bag of goodies, indulge in a coffee and go and sit by the beach and have the ultimate picnic.

SO thankful to have this local. The coffee is divine and the lush staff even made a special cheese sandwich for my fussy 6 year old. The staff is attentive and always serve straight away. We love it here ! Its so family friendly and the food is lush. Always come back here as the food and bakes are phenomenal. Recommend going early as bread and lots of stuff sells out (it's too delicious)

Called in here for the first time yesterday for hot drinks. The cappuccino was very good but small - as far as I could see the only size they had. And both drinks came in paper cups which is not good environmentally or for taste, they had some nice looking crockery for sale, why not use similar stuff in the cafe?

What a superb bakery. Ate here after recommendations snd we were not disappointed. Chose salami and cheese sandwich for the beach. Bread was soft and tasty and ghd filling lovely. Oat slice snd cinnamon whirls were equally great. Too much choice for sure! Disappointing that doesn’t open until 10am otherwise we would be there for croissants too!

The three tier sponge wedding cake was delicious. Each mouth watering layer was of different fruit flavours as chosen by the happy couple. It was decorated with beautiful fresh flowers The official pictures are not yet available but I believe there is a picture of it on the bakery web site

This was our first visit to Pureknead and it won't be our last. We bought Wholemeal Sourdough Bread which is soooo delicious 😋 I can't stop eating it, along with a couple of Cheese & Tom Pies and Two Cakes. Honestly I can't wait to go back and re-stock... So pleased I found this place. (By googling artisan bakeries)....

This is an artisan baker which also does café style food. Great sandwiches to showcase their bread, and the soup was excellent too. Posh tea on offer (Russian Caravan and Orange Oolong anyone), and the cakes ( which we didn't try) look sublime.

Our second visit to Pureknead and even more enjoyable than the first. I had soup and my husband a chicken sandwich and both were delicious. The soup was extremely tasty and healthy and a proper sized portion. We bought bread and pastries to go and the Cinnamon bun was again delicious. I note that some customers feel the food and drinks are expensive. For us it was a cheap lunch and amazing quality.

I enjoyed the food although a sign to say that everything except the soup is served cold would be good as I would have chosen something else rather than cold pie...Behind the counter and the open kitchen area could do to be cleaner whilst on public view.. The staff are nice too and the desserts are OK.. Heavy pastry.. But OK otherwise...In general it is a good place to go..

Without doubt *the best* little bakery in the North East, if not the UK. Superb cakes, sweet and savoury pastries to die for, their own bread and home-made soup and sandwiches for lunch. With friendly service from Paula and her team and reasonable prices that reflect the quality of the products you can’t go wrong. (If you want cheap, greasy and mass produced then go to G**ggs). Pure Knead and Paula are a real asset to Whitley Bay. They epitomise everything that #ShopLocal should be.

Visited here for first time yesterday for coffee and sandwiches. Food as tasty especially the salt beef sandwich with mayo and pickles. At £16 for 2 americanos and 2 sandwiches it is pricy and unfortunately there was quite a gap between the sandwiches arriving. I cannot understand why they don't hold the first till second is ready especially, as was the case here, it is not. a hot dish.

A tiny shop, with but two tables and four chairs in the window area. These are possibly the most sought after and hotly contested seats in any eatery in the cultural oasis that Whitley Bay is fast becoming. This little artisan bakery and patisserie is a gold mine of beautiful food and ideas. Breads to die for, cakes made with such fantastic passion and precision, and bakes and pastries for the most discerning palate. Oh, and the coffee.....did I mention the coffee ? Awesome fresh coffee from exceptional suppliers, made with skill and love, to provide the perfect accompaniment to any of the sumptuous offerings from the shelves and cabinets all around you. It is truly an experience to visit this place, the staff are very lovely, and really know their trade, and the love of food just pours out in every conversation. I promise you, you will not find a better place to take a coffee ( or tea ! ) break in central Whitley Bay. And bring a large bag for all the irresistible goodies you'll want to take home. If you see those tables empty, don't miss your chance !!!

My hubby & I popped in for a coffee on Saturday. Wow amazing! We were greeted by lovely & friendly staff. The salted caramel brownie was the best brownie we’ve had. The number of customers popping in to buy both bread & cakes spoke volumes! We took a selection of breads & scones home & were so impressed. We will DEFINITELY be back!

As part of a birthday celebration as a family, we visited 31 at the Quay for a meal. On arrival the staff showed us to our table. The waitress was very attentive, polite, and friendly. The atmosphere was really welcoming, and the place was well laid out. We ordered drinks which were brought to the table quickly. Our grandchildren were with us, and the children's menu had a good selection of food for them. Personally, I found it hard to choose as there was so much choice and it was all lovely. I can only talk for myself when I say the mushroom soup tasted like I was eating fresh mushrooms, and the whole party said their starters were amazing. I chose the lamb as my main dish, and that was also very tasty. The vegetables were well cooked and very tasty. I was very full and unable to try any of the desserts on offer. At the end of the meal, the waitress presented a "happy birthday" dessert for the birthday boy. This was a nice touch. Throughout the evening, it was nice to watch the chefs preparing the food for service in front of us. The 3 chefs were busy throughout the evening as we're the waiting staff, but they made it look effortless. Well worth a visit.
