High Tide in North Tyneside

Lovely warm welcome to High Tide, friendly owners and staff. On arrival it’s a must cocktails upstairs with lovely sea views. Service is excellent in the restaurant, beautiful food and vegetables cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend JJW Portugal.

Great little restaurant and upstairs bar..We had small plates plus chunky chips and salad.Very tasty and quick and friendly service.Outstanding White Rioja made the meal even more special The blood orange moon over the sea made the occasion?

We have lived in Cullercoats for years and have no idea how we managed to miss coming to High Tide until this evening. The food was simply delicious! Every dish has distinct and complex flavours. We had a variety of the small plates. My husband wanted the chorizo with honey which I said sounded like something we could cook at home. This turned out to be my favourite dish! Chorizo done over an open coal - just spectacular. The homemade tomato chilli jam under the salt and chili prawns was almost as good as the prawns itself. My husband's favourite was the gochujang chicken. Apparently (if I remember correctly) the Chef's partner is Korean and they make their own sauce. This, and the slow cooked beef curry had sufficient spice (even for us who lived in Asia for years). There was good wine, beer, and cocktails. The menu is designed to cater very well for many tastes, so had our young daughter been with us she could have chosen from the array of delicious looking pizza and pasta dishes. We thought the whole meal was great value and will definitely be back. You can go in just for drinks upstairs and it has an amazing view across Cullercoats Bay towards Tynemouth. Had a very, very good Sunday lunch at home today. Both the pork and beef roasts were excellent. Alongside beautiful fresh veg and awesome Yorkshire puddings. A real lazy Sunday treat to takeaway. Brilliant and thank you.

Very nice food, but a couple of the staff were rude and unapologetic for the fact our table wasn’t anywhere near to being ready for us when we arrived.

We had been here before and Were so looking forward to going back but it was sooo disappointing the staff were under pressure right from the off and we genuinely felt it ...menu knowledge was practically non existant and it was only when we pushed a little the waitress went tothe kitchen to check what vegan options were available .we had some small plates to share which were nice but then the mains arrived and the starters plates etc hadnt been cleared so we'd to wait on cutlery etc I opted for the ariabiatta and to be honest eat very little as apart from being very spicy wasnt very nice the waiter when he cleared didn't ask was it ok ,nothing , but TBF the waiter was doing most of the work while the 3 girls chatted at the bar ...sorry Jo we so wanted to enjoy our 2nd visit as much as we all did 1st time round ..but think the only way it could have been improved is if youd have been there overseeing everything yourself ...sorry!!

Stumbled on this hidden gem today … or maybe not so hidden by the amount of reviews etc … however it’s 20 mile from our home and we will be back next week for Sunday dinner … AMAZING !!!! front of house guys were great and the food even better

First time dining - on some great recommendations and it did not disappoint. As a huge fan of a Sunday roast (would consider myself an expert!) this was up there with the best. Great spot will be back to try an evening meal 🍽️

From the moment we arrived to leaving we experienced 5 star service. As a party of 9, it’s no mean feat to have no negative comments.The menu was large but didn’t detract from quality. Great service, food and banter. 100% recommended for a fabulous night out.

Huge huge thank you to Jo and the entire High Tide team for making our Wedding day so special! Although they don't usually do functions, they were happy to open on a Saturday afternoon for us to cater for our wedding lunch. The staff were incredible and so so attentive. The food was amazing - we had so many lush comments from our guests! The care and attention to detail was next level, plus allowing us to bring our own bits of decor and special items was just so appreciated. We had the absolute best time and we're so grateful we got to spend our special day here!

We live in Cullercoats and absolutely love popping into this place for a bite to eat. The food is amazing and the service/staff is always a solid 10/10! Would really recommend High Tide over other places to eat in Cullercoats - it’s simply the best!

The food is very good but portions very small for the money. Example I paid £18 for a single chiken Kiev the chips and veg an extra £10. Large glass of wine £11. For that kind of price I would have expected veg or chips included. Won't go back again at those prices. For my wife and I the total cost with large glass of wine and a pint of coke £64.

Lovely, laid back and friendly restaurant with a great menu. We decided last minute to head here and happily they could accommodate us, despite being busy. Service was brilliant, selection of small plates and pizza options was fab and we really enjoyed our visit. Our delicious dishes: Salt and Chilli Squid Rings; Sweet Potato with a Greek yoghurt dip; Roasted Veg and Pesto pizza.

A wonderful weekend at High Tide for a friend’s special birthday. First, a lovely Saturday evening party upstairs..we were looked after so well and the hot buffet was gorgeous! Secondly, Sunday Lunch with the family. 16 of us and again so efficient and well organised and fab food! Thank you Jo and all…a gem of a place on our doorstep! XX

Easily the best restaurant at the coast.

We were a large group and had to book last minute, but they got us in for Sunday Lunch. The place was packed, but it didn’t feel busy. The service was friendly (as always) attentive and timely, no delays or long waits for food. We’ve been several times now and it’s a great place for a pizza sitting on the 1st floor and overlooking the bay. We will be back again soon.

Lovely place, delicious food and super friendly staff. I recommend the Bottomless Brunch. Perfect for a catch up with friends or a couple hours escape.

Staying in the area again for a few days we decided to return here after having a fabulous Sunday lunch experience last time! This time we had pizzas, fish and chicken dishes and a few small plates and all were great. Service is friendly and efficient and there’s a lovely atmosphere, plus some great sea views. They were fab with our little one too, the children’s pizzas are great value and that was prioritised so she didn’t need to wait and she loved it! Thank you and see you next time we visit!

Amazing food, service, prices, and location! I have visited many times for sit in meals & also takeaway pizzas to take and eat on the beach. Also serve great cocktails! I will definitely continue to visit and would encourage anyone else to do so!

We had a brilliant family lunch here. Absolutely amazing view and the staff were really accommodating for everything. Everyone left full to the brim and we had a nice little walk along the sea front after. Such a lovely place for a Sunday lunch 😊

so fancy that they don't even allow a kid to go to the toilet, if you are not sitting in, Today my 5-year-old daughter needed to go the toilet and they didn't allow her, even if we asked them a couple of times, what kind of people don't allow a 5-year-old kid to use the toilet???

Wow - what a find!! We’ve been meaning to go here for dinner for ages and found the time last Friday. I had left it late to book a table but messaged the number on their Facebook page and received a speedy and friendly response which was a great start. We arrived and had a choice of tables, even though by 6pm it was already bustling with happy diners. We then realised there was an upstairs and asked to sit up there and were relocated without any issue. All the team members we met were simply lovely, really friendly and nothing was too much effort. We were made to feel so welcome and it was clear that this venue is popular with those living in walking distance. We had cocktails and a series of small plates and everything was delicious. It is rare to find somewhere that blends good quality food and drink with such friendly service from the outset.

Every visit feels special even though it's a super relaxed atmosphere. Nothing is too much trouble. Food is always excellent too.

Went here for the first time today for a Sunday lunch and it was faultless. From the warm welcome to the speed of service to the quality of the food I was so impressed. We had a pram with us which I find in some places is always treated like an inconvenience but not here, they gave us a lovely spacious table and were so friendly to both our children. Can't wait to come back!

Had fabulous family meal for my husbands 60th birthday

Recently visited this weekend and was really impressed with this place. The only bad thing I could say is there were to many amazing options on the menu so it was near impossible to choose what I wanted :) Ended on the Monkfish curry on the specials and it was superb but everyones meal looked good. Had food envy everywhere I looked round the table! Not just the food, the service and overall atmosphere was brilliant. 100% will be going again next time I am local. Well done!

Booked this restaurant for Sunday lunch to break up the journey from Seahouses to Huddersfield. How lucky we were! The Sunday roast is excellent! One of the best I’ve ever had. Service was faultless.Great staff. Delicious food, beautiful restaurant, with a really relaxing feeling and lovely views.

came here this evening with my boyfriend, gorgeous little restaurant on the seafront, staff were absolutely fantastic, so accommodating despite it being a peak time they were very eager to get us seated and served as quickly as possible, food was amazing, very high quality and good value! atmosphere was fantastic and cocktails were to die for!

Me and my partner came in around 8pm and ordered a main meal with sides and a desert. The whole lot was absolutely superb. We will definitely be back soon. The service was amazing and the waiter was very friendly and professional. Such a lovely atmosphere in the place and decor was warming. Thankyou 🙏

Unfortunately there were virtually no vegan options. As the menu was nowhere to be found online we called in advance to ensure there were vegan options and we were told there were. Upon arriving and viewing the menu, it became apparent that the only vegan dishes were olives and pizza with no cheese. The staff were very nice and said that they would be able to improvise something which I agreed to, however in the end I was served a very basic vegetable tomato pasta dish. I was also charged as much as others who had ordered meaty pasta dishes from the menu which didn't really seem fair. The restaurant was nice inside and the staff and servers seemed lovely, it was just a shame about the lack of vegan options. Tomato vegetable pasta is not really something I would go to a restaurant for and so I would say if you or someone in your party is vegan it might not be the place for you.

Cracking Sunday roast and drinks reasonably priced in a great setting

Jo was really accommodating, friendly and knowledgable of the menu. She gave really good descriptions of the food and made the decision process very easy. The whole vibe of the restaurant was great and Chris is an excellent cook. They were both really fun to chat to and seemed such sincere bosses (splitting the tip evenly between front of house and kitchen staff). Just go and try it!

Had a fantastic girls night last night. The food is made with love, fresh and delicious. The hosts are gorgeous, friendly people who always give a warm welcome. One of my favourite places to go on the coast.

Lovely restaurant and bar, only open Thursday-Sunday, nice Sunday lunch, very tender slow cooked beef brisket and giant Yorkshire puds! Excellent decor and service.

Unfortunately allocation of table was poor location was to near the bar customers brushing past several times while eating my meal

This place came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. A party of 8 for Sunday lunch, the food and staff were amazing. Very well cooked and very tasty lunch and desserts. All served in a very relaxed atmosphere with a fantastic view across King Edwards Bay. Would highly recommend booking well in advance as this place is a very busy restaurant. Many thanks to the staff for catering for us at short notice.

Visited for Sunday lunch and I must say it was amazing. The management were extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing such a treat! Loved it that much that we purchased a gift voucher for a friend! Would highly recommend!

If you get a table upstairs beware you are eating in a busy bar area. Having their cake and eating it, want a bar area and added resteraunt seating but it doesn't really work. Downstairs fine though

We booked a table for two for a 'date night' at High Tide and were lucky enough to secure a table upstairs. We were met on arrival at the door with a smile and were shown to our table with a view out to sea. After looking through the menu, we were hit with a problem straight away in that everything looked so tempting. In the end we both went for the Korean Chicken with Sticky Rice, which we were informed is their most popular dish and we soon found out why. My wife actually said it is one of the best dishes she has ever had and I have to agree. The dessert menu also looked real good to, but we were both so full we had to give it a miss. This place is a gem, with very attentive staff that can't do enough for you. Our next visit won't be too far away!

We had the most wonderful experience of this gorge, little place yesterday. Got married and came here straight after for an intimate family meal afterwards. Sat upstairs with a fabulous view across the bay and enjoyed tapas, pizzas,steak, cocktails and wine with first class friendly service from our waitress. Food was absolutely delicious and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed every minute. Would highly recommend this gorgeous, well ran place...make sure you book as it s popular. Special thanks to Jo for going the extra mile, we ll definitely be back!!

Best restaurant to Cullercoats!

Lovely Sunday lunch of lamb with fresh vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Great food , atmosphere and service! Fantastic views of the sea while dining and from the wine bar upstairs. Would definitely recommend! 👍

We’ve been to High Tide a few times but have never been for Sunday Dinner despite receiving several recommendations. It did not disappoint. The portion sizes are very generous & the mixed meat option just spoils you - honestly couldn’t pick which meat was the best. Strong contender as one of my favourite Sunday Dinners in the area.

5 stars just isn’t enough!! The food & service at High Tide is consistently top class. The calamari was the best we’ve ever had, come on Google, High Tide deserves a 10 star rating!!

I had my 60th birthday meal there and was very impressed. The choice of food was great and the taste and presentation was first class. The views over the bay are great, especially from upstairs and the staff are top drawer.

Fantastic sunday lunch at High Tide. Amazing service by Nathan and the team and the best food we have had in a long time. I never thought a spiced cabbage would be a highlight, but it really was!

After many take away Sunday lunches during lockdown from here we finally got ourselves booked up. Food was amazing, we all had the beef apart from my daughter who had pizza and home made chip which were the best ever. Service was quick but certainly not rushed and super friendly. Can not wait to return.

Me & the wife dropped in to try this place & very impressed. Very friendly staff, great service & lovely food. The small plates can be had as main course but we shared Moules Marinier & Salt n Chilli Squid with a pizza to share as main course plus some Parmesan fries….all beautifully cooked & very tasty….that along with a nice white RiojaOutstanding value all at £53…!!!!!!Place was bustling but nothing too much trouble & we left very happy & keen to return

Great night at High Tide. We had a pre-meal drink in the new upstairs bar. Fabulous views of Cullercoats Bay and coastline beyond. We ordered from the ‘small plates’ menu which were lovely. Great service and such friendly staff. Well done on the reopening guys. We had a lovely night.

We are big fans of High Tide. We have a vegetarian and a pescatarian in the family. Their menu has plenty of choices for our dietary needs. The small plates are our favourites. Each dish is so well thought out, the flavours and textures balanced and so beautifully presented. The atmosphere is fantastic and all the staff are so friendly and attentive, even when it’s busy. If you’ve finished your food but aren’t ready to go home, the new bar on the second floor is perfect for a cocktail or two. The perfect place to enjoy the sea view -unless the sea fret has other plans. Well worth a visit.. or two.

Had an amazing night. Love the addition of the bar upstairs which enabled us to not only extend our night but to add pre drinks too. Staff very attentive and helpful. Food was lovely, The small plates were a revelation compared to the usual Patatas bravas etc. Definitely will be booking again.

I have been meaning to write a review for high tide for a while, we visited for the first time back in August when lockdown was eased and enjoyed a delicious Sunday dinner, we dined again today after waiting far too long to come back, this time was takeaway Sunday dinner which was equally as delicious as dine in! And they do a vegan option which I get and it is so good, so many places barely entertain the idea of a veggie Sunday dinner never mind vegan. A must try for Sunday lunch and I imagine the rest of the meals are just as delicious, I will definitely be trying these soon!

Best Sunday lunch I have had in ages. Beef and pork were fantastic. Proper quality Sunday lunch. Canny couple of yorkies.
