We were on holiday I great yarmouth and choose to dine here after reading the reviews, we were not disappointed from calling to make a reservation to the final bill everything was perfect we were made to feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived until we left nothing was too much trouble the staff were attentive and knew the menu well, the prices are very good and the food OMG absolutely stunning my husband ordered the "medium" size rib eye i have never seen a steak that size in my life they even serve you your vegetables and potatoes onto your plate its been a long time since a restaurant gave silver service as standard we could not fault a single thing would 1000% recommend to anyone, if we are ever back in great yarmouth orthello is THE place to go

Outstanding Veggie Sunday Roast. Superbly presented and so delicious I treated myself to pudding. It was one of those starving Sundays where I was feeling depleted and required a substantial repast. The Celeriac & Mushroom Nutroast came with carrot puree, yorkshire pudding, stuffing, roast parsnips, carrots, potatoes, tenderstem broccoli and gravy. Feeling significantly restored, I treated myself to an exquisite serving of Chocolate Delice, honeycomb and miso caramel with salted caramel ice cream. Having walked here from Bovisand Lodge Holiday Park, I was more than ready for the return stank. I should also mention that as a solo visitor at no point was I made to feel uncomfortable by staff or other diners. A wonderfully friendly, supportive and warm welcome awaits...

Popped in for a drink on a Saturday evening. It was quiet but the staff and new management were lovely. So friendly and welcoming. It's recently been redecorated and looks great, we didn't eat but the menu looks delicious so we'll probably be back to try it!

We visited this restaurant as it’s the only restaurant in town.I should add we also ate at the cobbles, fire & salt (twice) , the Schloss & the waggon. The restaurant must have 60 covers & the tables are crammed in. Unfortunately for us we were seated in the middle with everyone pushing past us . The food was average , very 1990s . My venison main course whilst nicely cooked was such a small portion I could see more plate than food & was definitely hungry at the end. My lyonnaise potato was the smallest portion that could be cut without it collapsing. Plain boiled veg. The sticky toffee pudding was the same, looked very pretty but tiny. If you want to treat yourself & you’re in tbe area save your money & go the Schloss or eat in one of the pubs.

Eight of us had lunch here twice this week. We were so impressed by the charming, friendly staff (front counter and kitchen), the welcoming atmosphere the excellent beer and the lovely food. Most of all it was the people woking there, that brought us back 48 hours later. Nothing was too much trouble. When we presented our own GF bread for one of our party, they insisted, despite my protestations, on reducing the price of the sandwich ordered. We had a whip round for a tip at the end of lunch (the four couples had all paid separately) and when I put this on the counter and said thank you, the young lady came through to the room where we were putting on our coats looking bewildered and said 'but you've already paid?' I don't know if it's family run or not but whoever owns it should be immensely proud of their staff.
